Choosing Five Star as our full-service caterer was one of the best decisions my husband and I made for our wedding. They were highly recommended by our venue and coordinator, so we were interested in them very early on, but we were unsure if the price was within our realm of possibility. Five Star worked with us to find a price that worked within our budget. The quality of food and service, the inclusive rentals, and the peace of mind we received by working with Laura and her team made every single penny worth it. My husband and I are both vegan, and this is a very big part of who we are. We love animals, but we are also big foodies. We were set on having a fully vegan wedding that showed our friends and family how amazing vegan food can be, and that you do not have to compromise taste or satiety for a vegan meal. Laura worked with us to craft our perfect menu. We leaned into a California meets Mediterranean vibe, and it was incredible. From the apps all the way down to the sourdough bread rolls, there was something delicious for everybody and every palate. We had passed arancini, bruschetta, cucumber rounds with mashed peas, and potato and pea samosas with tamarind sauce. For dinner, we had lion’s mane steak with bordelaise sauce, zucchini rolatini (Five Star specialty), creamy cashew lemon caper gemelli pasta, roasted potatoes, balsamic brussels sprouts, the most amazing pearl couscous salad, a beautiful greens salad, and sourdough rolls with vegan butter. I mean – it does not get any better than that! The food represented us so well, and everyone really enjoyed it. My husband still deems this one of the best meals he’s ever had. We opted for buffet style so that everyone could decide how much of each item they wanted, as we wanted everybody to be excited about the food that ended up on their plate. They were! Some of those plates were piled so high, I was very pleased.
It does not stop here. Five Star also handled our bar services. They helped us craft two signature cocktails along with one mocktail. We supplied the alcohol, and Five Star handled the rest. The bar flowed smoothly all night, and the dinner drinks were regularly refilled. We went with a different vendor for our cake and dessert, but I sometimes wonder what kind of desserts Five Star would have provided. I loved everything else so much that if I could do it again, I’d have this conversation with them before locking in a cake vendor. Our wedding had a pretty early end time due to venue regulations, but we really wanted to have a “late-night” snack anyway. We veered away from the Mediterranean vibe and ended up serving vegan crunch wraps, something Laura suggested as having done before and well. We were grateful for these, and so were our guests!
The last thing I’d like to mention is that we had a two-night affair. Though we went with a more casual dinner setup for the welcome party the night before the wedding, we still needed some rentals, and Five Star arranged all of these for us, keeping things streamlined and easy on our overloaded brains.
All in all, Five Star was an impeccable caterer, with great communication, great collaboration, and a wonderful and attentive staff. If you are looking for a caterer who handles everything, who actually listens to what you want and wants you to have it, and provides peace of mind for a smooth dinner service, then you found them! -

Booking Five Star was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. They took care of appetizers, signature cocktails, bartending, dinner, dessert, all rentals, table side service and more! It was truly such a fun process from start to finish getting to dream up the perfect menu, pick all the rentals, taste the food and then sit back and watch Laura and team bring our vision to life. They even perfectly stacked and decorated our 2 gluten free Milk Bar cakes, provided my baby niece with extra strawberries during dinner because they saw she was loving them, and brought in a full oven to make our Beef Wellington entree dreams come true. The food was outstanding and we received soo many compliments about how delicious and fresh everything was, but what truly made this a 5-star experience was the gracious service that made our guests feel so taken care of throughout the evening. We can't thank the Five Star team enough and will definitely be booking them for our next large scale event! -

five star catering deserves 10 stars !!! they were incredible to work with, walked us through every step of the process with so much thorough attention to detail and guided us when we felt clueless about certain things (which was most things lol). so many of our guests are still raving to us about how delicious the food was !!! it was also really helpful to be getting our furniture/tableware rentals through them so we only had to go through one person for all of it. i have celiac disease, so the most important thing for us was that i could safely eat everything at our wedding and five star was the only catering company in the area we could find who was, not only able to accommodate this request, but willing to go above and beyond to make sure everything was also delicious and not just a bland GF substitute! they used the most delicious local ingredients and the tailored the menu items to our specific tastes/requests! they even ordered special GF bread from san francisco just for me and my table. also, our signature cocktails turned out SO delicious!!! we’re so thankful to laura and caitlin who took care of everything with so much efficiency and kindness and were able to reduce soooo much stress on our end by being the most professional and capable. we felt very safe in their hands and would highly recommend them to anyone considering!!! -

We definitely recommend Five Star Catering for your wedding or event!!! We had the most amazing experience hiring the Five Star team for our rehearsal dinner and wedding. From start to finish, Five Star was highly involved, communicative and passionate about making our day special. Five Star was responsive to our emails and calls whenever we had changes or questions. Five Star helped us with all of our rentals for the entire wedding day also, which they made a super easy process. The food, drinks and service for both events were absolutely amazing!! Five Star Catering and their exceptional team made our wedding day truly memorable. From the very beginning of the planning process, their professionalism and care made everything stress-free. The team was such a steady and supportive presence, which made all the difference during what could have otherwise been a stressful time. Laura was absolutely wonderful to work with, guiding us through the tasting and helping us choose the perfect menu. Caitlin was organized, communicative, and calm, and she led the catering staff flawlessly on the big day.
We especially want to give a shout-out to Jennifer, who was staffing the beverage station at the ceremony. Right before it began, she noticed my soon-to-be husband struggling with a makeup stain on his blazer. Without hesitation, she came over with a wet towel and a lint roller, saving the moment—or what he called “a Five Star move!” The bartenders were also fantastic, friendly, efficient, and attentive throughout the evening.
And of course, the food was incredible. Our guests loved it and have said it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had—and we completely agree. Every dish was beautifully prepared, flavorful, and served with care. Thank you so much for helping make our day so memorable! -

Laura, Caitlin and their team were terrific. They were able to seamlessly coordinate with our planner and other vendors to execute our event in a way that aligned with our vision. The food options were phenomenal, all local and made with high quality ingredients. They were able to incorporate our personal, family touches with ease, as well as fill holes with great ideas where we had no preferences or opinion. Their handling the rental services was also a huge plus that took a lot off our shoulders in the lead up to the wedding, and on the day itself. Thank you Five Star! The name speaks for itself! -

We couldn’t have asked for a better caterer for our wedding! From start to finish, they were incredibly professional and attentive. Laura, the owner, was super friendly and helpful, making the entire process feel effortless. I also worked closely with Caitlin, who was so patient and kind, even when I kept changing my mind. She made sure nothing was forgotten and that every detail was perfect.
They took the time to help us decide on every detail—silverware, place settings, and everything in between—even when I needed extra time to make up my mind.
They offered so many choices and helpful recommendations, always keeping our budget in mind. Their expertise really showed in the thoughtful suggestions they made, and we felt so confident knowing they had everything under control.
And the food? Absolutely INCREDIBLE. It’s been months since the wedding, and I still have guests telling me how much they remember and loved the food. It truly made the day unforgettable. They also matched our aesthetic and florals beautifully. True professionals.
I’ll admit this was the most expensive part of our wedding, but it was completely worth it. You don’t want to take any risks when it comes to food, and they absolutely delivered in every way.
They really do live up to their name and all their glowing reviews. I couldn’t recommend them more!

I couldn’t be more grateful that I chose Five Star to cater my wedding. Laura and her team brought my vision to life in a way that exceeded my expectations on every level (and let me just tell you that my expectations were high). The service was impecable and I wanted for nothing throughout the day. Breakdown and set up were so smooth and seamless and I didn’t have to think about a thing day of. From the placesettings to the food stations to the bar, everything was just perfect. Most importantly to me, the food was plentiful, beautiful and tasted incredible. My husband and I both really value good food and Five Star delivered. Our guests kept coming up to us at our sweetheart table to congratulate us on our choice in food (They were usually stoping by on their way to get seconds). The chili lime wings during cocktail hour were especially popular and our fiesta buffet offered our guests a wide variety of deliciousness with something for everyone and guests really appreciated the choices. We had a large guest count with a few very picky eaters and a couple serious allergies so having options was extremely important to us. The ice cream sundae bar and late night French fry bar were also huge hits. I went back twice for the curly fries because they were so good! Looking back on my wedding, I know that sharing that delicious meal with family and friends will always remain a highlight of the day. Getting to relax and just focus on the people, confidently knowing that all the details were being handled was such a gift and I am so grateful for Five Star and all the ways they went above and beyond to bring my special day to life. I can’t recommend them enough! -

I had an incredible experience working with five star catering throughout my entire wedding experience. They were so kind and responsive and definitely live up to their name. The tasting was an amazing experience and they had a beautiful set up of all different plates, glasses, silverware and napkins for us to choose from. The food was incredible as well! They worked with me on keeping to my budget while ensuring my wedding was everything I dreamed of. Their staff was amazing the day of the wedding, helping my family set up all of the dining tables and they put together a beautiful dessert table that completely matched the vibe of the wedding. The staff was so kind and I received endless compliments from all of my guests about the attentiveness and professionalism of the waiters. I was also told by multiple guests (and I agree) that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding (and it was vegetarian!). I was so grateful they were able to pack up the left overs for me so I could enjoy it again after the wedding. I highly recommend five star catering, I was absolutely blown away and hope I get to work with them again in the future. -

Laura and everyone at Five Star Catering are truly the best!! My now husband and I wanted to make sure that the food at our wedding would be memorable, plentiful, and delicious. Five Star delivered all that and more! Laura guided us through selecting our menu, and was so accommodative to our requests. As non-locals, it was so helpful to have all rentals (place settings, high chairs, heat lamps, etc) organized through our catering team. It was one less thing we needed to coordinate, which was a huge plus! On wedding day, there were zero hiccups, and everything was delicious!! It was obvious that the team was familiar with our venue, and the reception went off without a hitch. We’re still getting compliments from our guests! Five Star Catering and Laura Holmquist manifested all of our Wedding Dreams
From my very first phone call with Laura at five star catering until the morning after our wedding pulling away from our beautiful venue. Their service was everything we could have asked for. We felt like we were really listened to about we we wanted our wedding experience to be for our guests and ourselves. Every part of working with Laura and Five Star was so fun. I had a wonderful day picking place settings with her to create the perfect Glam Woodsy tablescape. Then my husband and I were able to go back for a wonderful tasting where we couldn’t decide because everything tasted so incredible, so wonderful Laura just figured out how to work it into our menu! They took care of everything from beginning to end. One of the smartest decisions we made was to have a full service caterer. They re-created our signature cocktail that we had worked on at home for about six months to perfection and of course, made it even better. The staff was so professional and easy-going and fun and kind.
It was the greatest party! And the food! The food! I cannot tell you how good the food was! And everybody with every dietary need was considered in the most thoughtful way. My husband and I dream about how yummy the food was.
Such an incredible day for us and we are so grateful that we chose Five Star Catering!!!

We knew food for our wedding was in our top 3 priority list for our wedding budget. From start to finish, we were impressed by Laura and team's professionalism, truly customizable menu based on our favorite dishes, and transparent pricing and options for our catering needs. While we were hesitant because we were only able to do a tasting after signing the contract, this was surely a moot point the moment we tasted the quality of the food. They know what they are doing! The food is fresh, seasonal, and locally sourced. We had Five Star also take care of our signature drinks and they came up with the cocktail recipes. Our guests raved about how delicious the cocktails were and how fast the bar line moved without compromising the quality of the drinks. Five Star is your one stop shop if you're getting married in the Santa Cruz county area. It's been weeks since our wedding and we're still thinking about the food.. -

I am not one to leave reviews (I think this is my first ever haha... but I had to this time!!)
I cannot sing the praises of Five Star Catering enough! From start to finish of the wedding planning process they excelled in communicating, understanding our vision, working with our budget, and making us feel so taken care of. The wedding day could not have gone more smoothly. The appetizers were gorgeous and our guests raved about them, the drinks from the bar were so creatively done and the hard huckleberry lemonade they helped us to create as one of our signature drinks was a HUGE hit with the guests! The wedding feast was absolutely delicious. My husband and I were so impressed by the presentations and especially taste of the food. IT WAS SOOOO GOOD. Five Star Catering's wedding food is not your typical "wedding food." We all felt like we went out to a five star restaurant and guests were non stop talking about how tasty all of the food was. The service staff was just wonderful. They were all so kind and professional! Every glass of wine was full, plates were cleared quickly, they switched to coffee and desserts seamlessly, they didn't miss a beat. It was wonderful. And the late night nacho bar was so darn good!! Us and our friends and family were so well taken care of all night. We did not have to worry about a thing on the night of our wedding thanks to Five Star Catering. Our wedding reception was made so perfect thanks to Laura and her Five Star Catering crew! Laura puts her heart and soul into making every wedding a dream come true and thats what my husband and I felt at our wedding. We cannot thank you enough Five Star Catering!! You made our wedding day the best EVER. 110% Recommend them to any couple getting married and looking for a caterer. They do so much more than just the food!! -

The name says it all.. Truly a five-star experience with Five-Star Catering on the day of our wedding. From the beginning, Five-Star was super easy to work with; up-front pricing, options to personalize to our individual taste, very communicative and friendly throughout the process. Then there’s the food.. The stuffed chicken breast, tri tip, vegetables, and rice were perfectly cooked, and loved by all our guests. Even our ‘food snobby’ guests raved about the food that Five-Star Catering provided. Their wait staff were so kind and helpful on the day of our wedding. We could not be happier with our experience working with 5 Star! In our initial meetings with Laura to work out the menu we were able to make 2 special requests for items off the menu (a salad and an appetizer). All through the planning process we were SO excited about our menu and couldn’t wait to share with our guests. And having 5 Star come with all the rentals we needed made it so easy. Our guests were blown away by the food, and the service. Everyone was complimenting 5 Star throughout the day. We had our wedding at our church, which entailed rapidly re-setting the space from ceremony to lunch, and the 5 Star team did it perfectly and on schedule. They made everyone feel taken care of, especially our celiac guests. And they were phenomenal with clean up and resetting the space. In short, our wedding day would not have been possible without this team. We cannot express our gratitude and thanks enough. Look no further, 5 star has it all covered!! -

Amazing Amazing Job by Five Star Catering!!!
We cannot say enough about the amazing job that Laura, Caitlin, and their Five Star Catering team did for our May wedding at Waterfall Lodge and Retreat in Ben Lomond! Laura was so easy to communicate with and so very flexible with the menu. When we did our pre-wedding planning, it was so easy to bounce ideas off of her and to work with her to craft our unique menu based on recommendations she had. When it was time for our in-person tasting, she was very attentive to the details that we wanted and was very accommodating when it came to subtle changes we wanted to make to the wedding menu so that we could accommodate all of our guests. Also, when we expressed our interest in designing custom signature cocktails, Caitlin at Five Star was very open to the idea and very helpful in coming up with unique recipes that fit the vision for our special day.
When the wedding day rolled around, wow! The appetizers and dinner buffet were amazing! Such delicious food and so much of it! Our guests raved the entire night and for weeks after the wedding about how delicious the wedding food was and how full they were from the buffet-styled set-up we had! They were all so happy with the food and the service that Five Star provided! And the signature cocktails were so popular! People loved the uniqueness of the drinks and kept coming back for more!
As for us, the newlyweds, we were busy running around with the photographer getting photos taken for much of the afternoon. But that didn’t stop Five Star from sending two attendants out to us with our signature cocktails and warm appetizers so that we could have them fresh! That little gesture was so nice and really telling of how great and detail oriented the team at Five Star Catering is! They really take good care for you and everyone else at the wedding.
And at the end of the night, Five Star cleaned up and left nicely packaged leftovers from the wedding so that we could enjoy our delicious wedding food (that we didn’t really have a chance to eat during the wedding) for a few days! It was very nice to know that the food wouldn’t go to waste and that they would take care of making sure everything was cleaned up and packaged accordingly.
We had heard so many good things about Five Star when looking for wedding caterers. Because how many things they offered as part of the wedding package, how cost effective they were in many ways, how good their food was, and how great their staff were. It’s crazy to think that despite knowing all of that, they really did an awesome job and exceeded our expectations! So thankful to Laura, Caitlin, and the team for their amazing job! Can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking for a caterer that fine tunes things and caters to your needs and takes care of you with great food and amazing service! -

I give Five Star Catering 10 stars! So many wedding guests raved about how delicious the food was. Laura was really easy to work with in planning and coordinating the menu. The staff were beyond nice. They were incredible all the way around!

Great experience!
Five Star Catering catered our wedding at The Waterfall Lodge in Ben Lomond, CA. From day one communication with Laura to the clean up at the end of the wedding ceremony, the entire process was professional, transparent, flexible, and just an overall positive experience WITH GREAT FOOD! There is so much positive stuff to say about this company. But first and foremost, communication with Laura was flawless; she was available when we had questions, updated our menu, updated our place settings, napkins, etc. They were extremely flexible and transparent with pricing which we appreciate since so many things change during the wedding planning process. They have various price ranges and many options to fit any budget! The entire staff was very professional on our wedding day; they prepared delicious food, beautifully laid out the food, and were extremely friendly to all of our guests. Our family and friends praised the servers' attentiveness, friendliness, and sense of humor, saying they remembered their requests for drinks and appetizers and kept the snacks coming! Thank you again, Five Star. -

Five Star Catering was so amazing with all of the different options they had — anything you try will make your mouth water, it certainly did for us! They are so good about customizing or creating a personalized option for a dish if that’s what you want and you don’t see it on their pre-listed options; they helped us come up with a fall seasonal salad during our tasting. They also ensured and made it so easy to have food options that accommodated all the different food preferences of our guests (gluten free, vegetarian, non-red meat, etc.) while still making the menu choices feel like us and having something for everybody. They are SO GOOD at what they do!! All of our friends and family who attended loved and enjoyed the food we chose. The day of staff were also so attentive to us and we were pleasantly surprised when they packed us a box of all of the night’s food sampling for us (the bride and groom) so we could enjoy the food again the next day! It was also so convenient to go through them for all of our rentals like table linens, napkins, bartending, extra tables, etc.—even helping us with last minute rental add ons. They made sure the drinks were flowing throughout the night and worked with us on serving a custom cocktail and sangria. Highly recommend Five Star Catering if you want a smooth and delicious experience for your wedding~ -

We have received nothing but exceptional service from Five Star Catering from day one. When it came to the planning and quoting process Laura was so lovely to work with for this first-time bride not really knowing how to plan a wedding. She was extremely responsive, set up calls, gave great advice, and helped us curate the yummiest rehearsal dinner and wedding day family-style menu ever! We were so excited we got to work with their team for two events! Caitlin was our catering captain and she was the best to work with. She answered ALL my questions during our walkthrough and took very thorough notes. The weekend of our wedding she was right there making sure we had everything we needed, even a private moment for the two of us with apps and champagne.
Five Star made our wedding weekend so memorable and we cannot thank them for their delicious food and care! If you need a caterer for any event I would highlight recommend them! Thank you Five Star! -

I wish I could give them 10 stars. Five Star catering was beyond amazing. I cannot say enough about this company. Everybody is amazing, Laura, Caitlin, and all the staff. The food was incredible. My guests said the food was amazing. We had a few food critics ( chefs and foodies) that said the food was incredible. The catering staff was on top of everything and extremely friendly. The bartending was great. They put everything away at the end of the wedding in such an organized matter and packed us a lot of leftover food. This company has it down to the last detail. Our event was at the Waterfall in Ben Lomond, Santa Cruz. I wish I had more time to talk to the catering staff but was too busy with the wedding! I highly recommend Five Star catering. It's worth every penny and you won't regret this decision. -

Our guests are still talking about the food
I don’t think we could have found a better caterer for our wedding. Laura was so wonderful to work with and was so flexible and accommodating – it was such a joy and pleasure to work with her and the rest of the Five Star team. With catering being one of the bigger budget items – it was so reassuring with their flexibility and expertise with providing recommendations on set up and food items and such. And let me tell you how insanely good the food was – we still have guests from our wedding talking to us about the food and how it was the best wedding food they have ever had. Everything was delicious and they were very helpful with creating items for our dietary restricted guests. The staff on the day of were also wonderful and set everything up so beautifully and were so friendly – and took such good care of us throughout the entire reception. The selection of tableware, glassware, linens was exceptional as well. You will not find a better caterer in the Watsonville/Santa Cruz area, I can promise you that! -

I can't see enough good things about Laura, Caitlin, and the Five Star team. With them you know you're working with professionals who know exactly what they're doing! They consider everything from the food (obviously) down to what fork you want and all the other small catering details that you, as a bride, don't think anyone is thinking about but you. Nope, they got it covered! From beginning to end, the experience was so fun and easy. Not to mention, their food is incredible. It's true what they say.. You don't eat at your own wedding and I was SO sad because the food is so good. I got rave reviews from all our guests, even from my mom who is annoyingly picky. Thank you Five Star team! -

The food was absolutely delicious and her staff treated my husband and I like a King and Queen! We had countless guests come up to us saying that it was hands down the best food they had tasted at a wedding and we completely agree. We also had many people say it was the best wedding they had ever been to, and I know Five Star was a big part of that!
The staff were all so sweet and professional, helping make our day run seamlessly so that my husband and I and our guests could have the best time celebrating. The bartender was also amazing and kept everyone refreshed and happy!
Your help with all of the rentals was also incredible, our reception was so gorgeous and taking the stress of sourcing rentals off our shoulders was truly appreciated.
All the leftovers were packaged up so nicely that we were able to enjoy delicious food for several days after the wedding 😋
Thank you thank you thank you!! I definitely recommend Five Star to anyone getting married in the Santa Cruz area. -

We could not have done our wedding without Wendy, Laura, and the whole Five Star catering staff! We changed up our menu a few times and every time the staff was totally flexible and willing to work with us. We went with a mexican family style dinner and it was the perfect amount of class and comfort food and was absolutely DELICIOUS! Wendy was present the entire duration of our wedding and ensured everything was absolutely perfect! We highly recommend utilizing their bartending service as well who were all super professional and delightful. Thank you so much Five Star catering for the delicious food and amazing drinks! -

“No one likes the food at weddings, but yours was actually really delicious.” We heard this over and over again after Five Star catered our wedding. And it was true! Our wedding food rivaled that at expensive restaurants. I’m still craving it. There wasn’t a single dish that missed the mark. Five Star has some very talented chefs.
Not only was the food delicious, but the servers were great as well. They were professional, prompt, and even took special care to make sure that we ate. While everything was served family style, we were at a sweetheart table and they actually took the time to make us heaping plates of delicious food.
They also did a great job with our drinks. Our bar and cocktails were beautiful and kept everyone well “hydrated” :)

I was the mother of the bride, and we financed the October 2019 wedding at the beautiful Sand Rock Farm in Aptos. The venue has a number of required vendors they work with, and Five Star Catering was one of them. Fortunately, they were fabulous to work with, and we could not have been happier with all that they did on our wedding day. How often do you actually hear people compliment wedding food? We have received so many emails complimenting the food and the staff.
There were delicious passed appetizers and drinks during the cocktail hour and dinner was served family-style at round tables. It was perfect!
When I had questions and concerns prior to the wedding, Wendy in the office, was quick to reply and so helpful.
They even thoughtfully packaged up the leftovers for the couple as they missed much of the dinner during the sunset photo session.
We could not be happier with Five Star Catering. Thank you for making our day so special! -

This company really knows how to service a wedding! They go above and beyond to not only cook the food, but decorate and WOW your guests! They took the time to learn a complicated fold for our napkins and linens to accommodate our theme. They spent hours of their time on the phone and in person walking through each detail. They had the nicest staff! Super professional! They gave us loads of leftover food and preserved it perfectly for us to take home with ease. They offered their services of handling other rentals. You definitely get what you pay for here!!!
All star company that needs to change the name of the company to a higher star count! Five star was the highlight of my wedding. Many guests did approach me (The Groom) after the wedding, telling how good the food was.

Great Service with a Smile
Your team was excellent and kept everyone happy with beverages and food on the stone patio, after the ceremony, while the pictures of the wedding party and family were being taken . When I finally got down there, I enjoyed seeing the chips and salsa buffet and the got to sample some of the passed appetizers; it was a pretty view and the cocktail hour made it all the more enjoyable.
I thought you did a terrific job setting the tables and the cream colored napkins and tablecloths looked very elegant. The buffet went smoothly and the food was presented so beautifully that the guests were eager to try everything. I especially liked the vegan choices, since there were a few vegans in the crowd!
Dinner also went smoothly and everyone seemed to be very happy with the service, I heard no complaints, which is always a good sign!
We also really enjoyed the s'mores and the campfire kept us warm, so that was a very good choice!
The bride and groom had such a good time, but so did all of the guests, and I didn't have to worry about a thing, you kept the bar going till the end and cleaned everything up, so Holman Ranch was back to its pre-wedding state!
If we ever have a wedding or event down that way again, I will be sure use you, but I will be most happy to recommend you as well. -

Five Star Catering's name is no misnomer! They were excellent in all respects when we used them to cater our wedding -- their food was delicious (so many of our guests were shocked that this was how good wedding food could be!), their service was fantastic and they were extremely organized and easy to work with. We used the Farm to Table menu which I highly recommend. My friends and family are still talking about their grilled artichokes. I worked with Wendy the most, who was extremely sweet and so professional -- her and the rest of the 5 Star Staff made my life so easy on the day of the wedding and even before -- they worked with the furniture rental company to take care of almost everything and things appeared before the wedding and disappeared after it before my eyes. Thank you for everything, Wendy and 5 Star! You are fantastic! -

We were so happy we went with Five Star for our Memory Garden wedding in Monterey. From the very beginning, when we requested a quote from them, they were responsive and professional, and offered us a free tasting. From there we were sold! The food was great—I definitely recommend the Corralitos sausages (the highlight of our cocktail hour, praised by guests) as well as the potatoes au gratin (literally the best I've ever had, also praised by our guests). Tri-tip was another great highlight.
Another great thing about Five Star is that they will handle rentals for you in your contract! This was especially helpful to me as I was getting married in a state park where i had to bring in EVERYTHING, from the chairs and tables to the dance floor and everything in between. It was so nice having a caterer who would handle food, furniture, linens, and bartending (we could provide our own alcohol which was awesome).
On the day of my event, everything ran so smoothly! I was able to really relax and enjoy my big day knowing that the banquet captain, Jolene, and her team were getting it all done. Wine glasses were never empty at dinner, our buffet and cake tables were gorgeously assembled, and the team acted with grace and professionalism. The bartender that Five Star provided also did a great job of handling a very busy bar! :)
All in all, I can't recommend Five Star more. They are great at what they do and while the planning process of a wedding might be stressful, they make sure that your big day is not. And that right there is priceless! -

I am an event planner and I tried Laura's food during one of our events and I was amazed by how delicious it was. I also loved how organized the service was, it was smooth, professional and well managed. From now on Five Star Catering is my number 1 caterer to recommend to my dear clients. I had a wedding in Los Gatos planned and setup for my clients and Five Star Catering was again my number 1 choice.
Laura worked with our event themes Masquerade, she added many decor touches as fresh flowers, glass raisers, vases with fillers and a rustic and floral wedding theme, tasteful theme decor and food presentations are amazing! We worked together so well! In any party food and guest service are very important and they are amazing in Five Star Catering!!!

Five Star catered our wedding at the Memory Garden in Monterey a few weeks ago, and everything was amazing from start to finish! We initially liked that Five Star offered us a tasting before we signed a contract with them (the other preferred caterers for our venue would only let us do tastings if we booked them first, which was confusing to me... I wouldn't want book a caterer without trying their food!), and everything at the tasting impressed us. Laura was great to work with, incredibly responsive and accommodating of a variety of guest allergies and preferences. So many people told us that the food was delicious, especially the ceviche, potatoes au gratin, and tri tip. The buffet and tables were also beautifully presented. Working with Five Star was a dream, and we'd enthusiastically recommend them to anyone for any event! -

We had a buffet and the meat was juicy, the vegetables crisp and the mashed potatoes were out of this world!! The staff was incredibly friendly and everyone worked very hard to make everything perfect for our special day! I would highly recommend 5 Star!! -

Cathy Sent on 03/17/2014the food was AMAZING.... from appetizers to main course everything was delicious and everyone said it was among the best wedding food they had eaten. the staff was also wonderful. maybe it's the norm, but it was such a nice treat that as the bridal party went through they filled our plates from the buffet choices we wanted to ensure we didn't get anything on our 'finery'.
even more special to me they filled/brought plates to my parents who don't get around very easily and both walk with canes so handling the buffet/plates and getting back to the table would have been challenging. yes there were other family guests that could have done the same, but the fact that the staff did so really means a lot to me and the level of service you can expect.
and they 'boxed up' all the left overs for us - due to a few last minute no shows we have enough food that i don't have to shop/cook for at least a week - another bonus!

Laura at Five Star did an amazing job with our wedding day. The food was DELICIOUS and the staff was attentive and professional. We had a seamless day as Five Star helped to put the finishing touches on our wedding. Laura was responsive and even scheduled a walk through with us in person a few days before the wedding since we were coming in from out of town. This walk through helped us to feel supported and relaxed about the wedding day! Laura thought of every last detail. On our day, the food tasted exactly like it did on our tasting and everyone raved about the stuffed mushrooms (app) and short ribs (main)! We would recommend Five Star Catering for any event.

Laura did a great job running the catering. She provided a lot of suggestions in the early planning phase of the wedding. It was an unusual rainy wedding in california and Laura was extremely helpful in our tent renting process. On the day, her team is very professional and everything was executed perfectly. I worked with Laura getting our menu set and selecting our place settings, glassware and linens. The things that attracted us to Five Star first was that they are a one stop shop for everything. I did not need to have a million vendors for flatware, linens, tables, bartender, and food. I was able to get everything that I needed in one place. Laura was very sweet and knowledgeable. She was incredibly helpful with all of her recommendations. We told her we were embracing the fact that we were having a winter wedding and wanted cozy comfort foods. So our menu reflected that with crispy chicken, tomato soup shooters and a hot chocolate bar with homemade marshmallows. Laura set up our walk-through and put our minds at ease with everything. All of our guests could not stop raving about how good the food was. Several of our friends said that it was the best wedding food they had ever had.
