I did some searching and called around for a makeup/hair artist for my Wedding. I knew that I did not want to be caked in make up, but also wanted to look elegant and have my natural beauty played up. My bridesmaids and mothers also felt the same way. Leah and her artist Dani, were great to work with. I felt at ease and there were adjustments made on my Wedding day, to ensure I got what I wanted. They even give you a cute Thank you card and touch up kits for you and your party. I highly recommend First Blush Beauty for your Wedding! -

Working with First Blush Beauty was truly wonderful from start to finish! After initially planning & having to cancel our wedding in our home state of FL, we moved the event to AZ site unseen so that our closest relatives could attend (travel concerns due to COVID). Without ever having met the team at First Blush, communicating with Leah via email and phone (and stalking her insta) convinced me she was professional and responsive. Leah did my makeup for my engagement photos as a trial for my wedding and she was beyond amazing. I could tell right away when we talked on the phone and texted that she was a down to earth, talented, and kind person and after my trial session, I knew she was the right girl for the job. She was fun to work with and made myself, my bridesmaids and mothers absolutely beautiful the day of my wedding. She was the perfect addition to my wedding day and made me feel beautiful and loved. When booking a makeup artist you want to be heard on what you want out of your look, and Leah is so good and listening and executing flawlessly! Once you talk to Leah, book her. There should be no hesitation! She is amazing at what she does, and she will execute the makeup of your dreams! -

High Quality Hair and Makeup
Leah and her team did a great job with my bridesmaids’ and my hair and makeup on the wedding day. We lived out of state, so had only been able to do a makeup trial, but my naturally straight hair held a curl all night, and my makeup lasted through 10 hours of laughing, crying, and dancing. They were fast and efficient, too, and easy to coordinate with long distance!
The only negative from the day was that an inappropriate political comment was made by the team during hair and makeup that made a few of us uncomfortable. -

I had the unfortunate experience of hiring Leah Arnett-Cayzer from First Blush Beauty (formerly Black Hearts Beauty) for my bridal hair and makeup.
Let me first start by saying, I don't think Leah had malicious intent in this situation. I think she made mistakes and then made unprofessional decisions on how to handle those mistakes. I would not have written this review if she had handled things differently after the fact but she left a negative outcome, hence the negative review.
On the day of my hair and makeup trial, the makeup was beautiful but Leah talked me out of the hairstyle trial because she had run out of time to finish an updo before the shoot. She still finished late which made me late for my boudoir shoot. That should have been a red flag, I should have pushed for the trial on the hairstyle. That was my mistake. She was just so personable and nice, that I didn't back out and I should have then.
I had sent photos of what we each wanted for the wedding and she said she would be able to do all 3 hair and makeup styles with no problem. I also paid her to airbrush cover the tattoo on my chest which she said she was experienced at doing. Attached are photos of myself (bride) my daughter and my mother's hair and makeup inspirations as well as how each turned out. Many people said, "you looked beautiful but neither the hair nor makeup looked close to what you asked for".
I did not feel beautiful on my wedding day. I was frustrated that my hair looked nothing like the photo I requested, it was supposed to be in the center of my head, not on the side. I also did not want a bun. I wanted loose boho curls. It was frizzy and messy and I honestly feel like I could have done better myself with some time and YouTube tutorials.
My makeup was plain and did nothing to contour or highlight my features. I looked nothing like the inspiration photo and it wore off so quickly and did not photograph well throughout the wedding.
My tattoo was never fully covered up. When I arrived at the studio Leah did not have an airbrush color to match my skin tone and did it the "traditional way" instead. This was done by layering gobs of concealer and powder on top of my tattoo until it was cakey and thick. It started cracking before I even made it to the venue. Despite my attempts to save it, it was not salvageable and I had to clean the makeup off my chest and have my tattoo showing.
My daughter's makeup was plain and unmemorable. Her hair looked nothing like the simple boho waves we requested but instead were loose ringlets that looked stringy and fell out within an hour.
My mom's makeup on the other hand was AMAZING and we were very impressed. Her hair was unfortunately another story. It looked like Leah did nothing to my mom's hair and my maid of honor re-curled it at the venue because it looked so bad and my mom was upset.
People have asked me "if you didn't like it, why did you leave the studio? Why didn't you have her fix it?"
The reason I didn't have Leah fix everything is that I was already overwhelmed by the number of things going wrong and to top it off she was so late getting us done that there was no time for touchups or adjustments to be made. She took two smoke breaks, her kids and dogs kept running into the studio and she was just really unprofessional.
Afterward, I contacted her for the gallery with the getting ready photos and she kept blowing me off. It took over two months and repeated messages just to get the link. This was not due to the photographer's processing time. Leah admitted she had gotten the photos back just a few weeks after but had lost the link then took another 6 weeks to get the link to me.
When I asked her to cover the cost of the editing required to remove my tattoo from my wedding photos she declined to pay for it stating "I'm sorry, makeup, hair and tattoo "cover ups" cannot be guaranteed once you leave my studio."
Overall Leah was unprofessional, unable to manage time, and not skilled enough to produce the results she offered. I would never recommend Leah or First Blush Beauty to anyone. -

Leah was initially great to work with and took a great amount of time during my trial to make sure I loved the look she created, and I did! However, I’m not sure why we had a trial. With my wedding date being one of the most popular of the year,
this came at a cost to me because First Blush Beauty triple booked my wedding day. Little time was spent on my hair as well as the bridal party. None of us were shown the final look and I didn’t realize until after Leah and her team left that my hair was not curled as we planned. As a bride this is was very hard to accept. On the wedding day the team seemed so rushed and we all felt that. I would not recommend first blush beauty to any friends or family because of this. -

Sadly my review of Leah does not have to do with the quality of her work as a hair and makeup artist, as I did not get to experience her work. This review is based on her professionalism as we communicated ahead of my bridal trial.
I am an out of state bride, and I booked Leah for my April 2025 wedding in January of 2024. In late September 2024, I reached out to her letting her know my fiance and I would be traveling to AZ one weekend in January 2025 to meet with vendors and do my hair and makeup trial. I told her we would not be picking a date or booking flights until we heard back on her availability. We hadn't even picked a weekend, to give her as much flexibility as we could. I offered 3 weekends in January. Initially she said she was available the 11th but wanted to double check that. After not hearing back from her, I followed up and she said she was available 1/10/2025 at 1pm. This exchange happened the first week of October. I confirmed that worked for us, and we reached out to other vendors to schedule appointments and booked our flights there.
This past week, I reached out to all my vendors to see if there was anything they needed from me or what I needed to do to prep for this weekend. When I reached out to Leah, she told me she needed to reschedule. At this point, our weekend was packed beginning to end with vendor meetings (again, we are having an out of state wedding, so this was our only weekend in AZ to meet with people and prep things).
She then told me to text her (we had done all previous communication over email), which I did. I told her that we were only here for this weekend, and that we had scheduled all of our flights and appointments around this trial that she previously agreed to (months in advance). Instead of taking accountability for her mistake, she first told me she had no record of the trial. A simple search for my name in her email inbox would have pulled up a thread with the subject line Bridal Hair/Makeup Trial. I forwarded her the email, to which her response was that because I emailed her, it wasn't recorded. She said her scheduling is done through a CRM and it didn't add to her calendar (again not taking accountability). She did try to reschedule me for the same weekend, but by then we had so many other meetings we would have had to arrange that none of the times she said she could reschedule worked for us.
At this point, I had lost trust in her and was not comfortable or confident in her professionalism for my wedding day. I told her I wanted to terminate our contract. Only after I told her I wanted out of the contract did she tell me that she could make herself available on the original date and time.
I requested a refund of my $200 deposit, and I understand that I did sign a contract acknowledging that it was non-refundable, but was hopeful that considering the situation was of no fault of my own, Leah would refund me. She has chosen to not refund the $200, which again, she is not contractually obligated to do, but considering that it is supposed to cover her communication and scheduling (I had to follow up with her when she did not reply to me, and clearly she did not even add my trial to her calendar) I am not sure that enough work was done to warrant $200.
Had I been a local bride, this probably would not have been as big of an issue for me, but it was very clearly communicated to Leah that I was an out of state bride flying in for my trial. Canceling was not an emergency on Leah's part (at least not that she communicated), she was just moving studio locations and failed to add my appointment to her calendar. This whole situation happening less than 24 hours before I was supposed to leave for my trip was so stressful. I understand that mistakes happen, but this mistake was 100% avoidable, and Leah could have taken more accountability for the mistake from the jump instead of blaming it on other things.
If you are a bride who values a trustworthy vendor with good communication, I would take your business elsewhere. *After I posted this review Leah did refund my money.*
