Loved our wedding reception at Evergreen
Evergreen was a wonderful venue for our wedding reception. We had a late-June wedding and the gardens were beautiful and the Carriage House was the perfect place for dinner and dancing. Communication was great leading up to the event, and they were very organized and professional. We were very thankful and glad we could have our reception there! -

"Prettiest wedding we've ever been to"
We attended a wedding at the Evergreen Museum & Library a few years ago and when we were looking for outdoor venues in Baltimore City, we knew the Evergreen fit the bill. I was looking for something with a garden/green feel and the Evergreen was perfect. Judy and the team at Evergreen were very easy to work with. They have rules about timing and when/where you can be because it is a public museum, but our photographer and planner took care of all of that and it didn't affect the day at all. We were very lucky the rain subsided and we had a simple outdoor ceremony, cocktails on the terrace, and reception in the Carriage House. One reason we went with the Evergreen was because the rain option was just as beautiful. At least 10+ people came up to me at the wedding and said it was the prettiest wedding they had ever been too. The florist did a great job, but the Evergreen is so pretty it really didn't need too many decorations. I may be biased, but this is hands down the prettiest wedding venue in the city. What a fantastic backdrop to a beautiful day! -

Evergreen was PERFECT for our September wedding! We had our cocktail hour on the patio and the reception in the carriage house. Everything was beautiful and it is such a unique venue. The private events team was very helpful in planning. There are so many different places to take pictures that are equally beautiful. We also did not need to do a lot of extra planning or decorating, as the venue has so much character in itself. The venue has many different areas, giving us a lot of room to have everything that we wanted and set up exactly how we wanted it. Highly recommend Evergreen!! -

Evergreen Museum was such a beautiful space for us to host our wedding in August. People are still commenting on how beautiful our venue was (we really lucked out with the weather) and we were so happy with your help and responsiveness throughout the process of planning the wedding. If we could do it all again next week, we totally would! -

Judy and all the staff at the Evergreen were so responsive and made our wedding day go so smoothly. The venue was a dream and has so many amazing, unique features around the property for photos. My guests were blown away by how elegant and unique the venue was. I couldn't have been happier. -

Everyone at the Evergreen House and with JHU Prviate Events was extremely helpful from booking the venue through the day of my wedding. The Carriage House was the perfect place for our wedding reception, even with the weather raining out an outdoor cocktail reception. We couldn't have ask for a better team or location. -

We couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue to hold our wedding and reception. It created the perfect atmosphere blending everything that both my husband and I were looking for. I was attracted to the architecture of the building in addition to the stunning grounds of the garden were my husband was attracted to the rustic details in the carriage house. Planning our wedding with Evergreen's staff was seamless. They were always so helpful and I truly felt they cared about our day just as much as we did!! We both wish we would relive our wedding over and over again and this gorgeous venue!! -

The Evergreen was a perfect venue for our ceremony and reception. All of our pictures are beautiful with the backdrop of the gardens for our ceremony. From start to finish, the event coordinators were very responsive and helpful with organization and timelines, while being very laid back and stress free. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking for a unique setting for their special day! -

From the moment we saw Evergreen we knew it was where we wanted to get married. It is the most romantic, historic, rustic site I had ever seen. I had some conflicts with holding a date due to other family obligations, but Judy and her staff were extremely patient given the parameters of flexibility they have and did everything possible to work with us. Throughout the process, they were very prompt in all of their responses. They provided a vendor list and I used about 3/4 of my vendors from their list and was VERY pleased. They are also very clear on what is allowed and not allowed and as long as you follow their policies it will be smooth sailing. My photographer and mother are from out of town and came into town on two separate occasions but both wanted to see the venue. Judy was very accommodating in allowing them to see the venue so they could start picturing the big day! If I could do the day all over again, I would, without a doubt, pick Evergreen again. -

Judy and Laura are such a pleasure to work with! This venue was amazing and set the perfect mood for a Friday evening wedding! The rustic Tuscan theme I had in mind was stunning in the carriage house! Every guest has been talking about this venue and how it was one of the best weddings they have been to! Nobody knows about this secret venue in Baltimore, but once they see it they can't believe how beautiful it is! Thank you everyone at Evergreen for all of your help in making my wedding perfect! -

Judy and Laura from the Evergreen were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were super responsive and calmed all my nerves about having both our wedding and cocktail hour outside. I feel so thankful to have worked with such professional and kind people while planning my wedding. One of the highlights was Judy being there to greet me on my walk back up the aisle and so very sweetly sending my Mom and I some pictures that she had taken during the ceremony. She was the best!
The Evergreen was my dream venue and Judy and Laura helped make our dream day a reality. I cannot thank them enough! -

We LOVED everything about the Evergreen. This was actually the only venue we even visited. We knew instantly that this location was it. It had so much space to use, and if the weather worked to your favor you could have your ceremony in the lawn, cocktail hour on the terrace and the reception in the carriage house. You feel like you are in 3 different venues, each has it's own unique qualities to them. We've also lived in Baltimore for 12 years and had somehow never heard of this hidden gem. I hope it gets lots of recognition for being a top wedding venue in the area! Judy was who we were in touch with the entire process and she couldn't have been more helpful. Her responses were always quick and got you the answers you needed. -

Evergreen was a perfect venue our wedding venue and all of our guests loved it, commenting on the beauty and the pleasant movement between various areas for different parts of the event. We reserved the upper garden for the ceremony, the patio behind the house for the cocktail hour and the carriage house for our reception. We met with Judy several times during the planning and she very helpful and friendly. There is a list of caterers that events are allowed to use, all of which would have been sufficient, and we went with Zeffert and Gold and it was clear that they had a great relationship with Evergreen and Judy, so that made everything easier for us. All the planning went smoothly, until with five days notice we needed to move the entire event up two hours in order to accommodate the Baltimore city-wide curfew in effect due to the fear of riots rising out of the protests after Freddie Gray's death. Judy called me and promised to help reorganize everything so that it would work out and she did so calmly and efficiently. It was an extraordinary situation, but Judy’s response was just what we needed in order to adjust our plans. Evergreen was a beautiful location, Judy and her team were wonderful to work with, and we had a simply amazing day. -

Wedding in the upper garden and reception in carriage house. From the first on-site tour to the last good-night, we had nothing but the most pleasant, thoughtful, personal consideration and attention from absolutely everyone affiliated with our event. From the on-line barrage of questions to the office staff to the event coordinator on site right on to the gentleman who maintains the Carriage House, every interaction was as kind and considerate as one could hope.
Sunset ceremony was protected from harsh sunlight, private, elegant. Cocktail hour in upper patio roomy enough for everyone to mingle and mix and still intimate and elegant. Reception in carriage house had perfect space for dancing and mingling, never felt crowded...and easy access for bystanders to chat and "watch the action" or sit more removed from noise of revelers.

We had my daughter's wedding ceremony and reception at The Carriage House at the Evergreen Mansion. It was a pleasure working with Judy and her staff. They were so helpful when trying to decide which parts of the venue to rent and flexible when we had to make changes. There was never a long delay in getting back to me with answers to my questions, always within 24 hours. My daughter and her fiancé lived out of town, the Evergreen staff answered all their questions and made themselves available for walkthrus.
Besides all of that, the property is so beautiful, a very romantic setting!!

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT VENUE! After looking at just about every venue in Baltimore, we finally came upon the Evergreen Museum and Library and fell in love!! The Evergreen had an extra special feel to it that made you smile just from stepping foot on the property. My husband and I knew this was the place we wanted to celebrate our marriage. This venue is beautiful in itself but also allows you to add your own personal touches to make it unique. We worked with Judy throughout the planning process and, WOW, she is awesome!! I could always reach her by phone or email. She was extremely helpful providing tons of information, insights, and ideas. All the preferred vendors recommended by Judy were perfect!
Our guests loved the Evergreen and even those that only saw photos from the wedding couldn't stop complimenting us on the beauty of the venue. Thanks to the Evergreen and their amazing staff our dream wedding became a reality! The grounds, Carriage House, and staff provide everything you need for an elegant, charming, and FUN wedding that will leave you and your guests with unforgettable memories. -

We held our wedding at the Evergreen and it was wonderful. The staff was very responsive and professional over email and in person. The rental fee was very affordable given how well-kept the Upper Gardens, Upper Patio and Carriage House are and a much better value than any other venues we looked at in DC.

I can't say enough about how beautiful this venue is. We had our ceremony in the back garden, our cocktail hour on the patio, and our reception in the Carriage House. There isn't a better place in Baltimore for wedding photos, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how unique, gorgeous, and fun the Evergreen was. I also can't say enough about Judy, the Evergreen's event manager. She responded to my every email and phone call with patience and clear answers to our questions. She worked seamlessly with our vendors--especially our caterer--to make sure that everything ran smoothly. Judy was calm, cool, and collected throughout the entire process, which made us incredibly comfortable and confident during our planning and on our wedding day. The venue itself was clean and well-maintained. We fit almost 160 in the Carriage House for dinner, and had plenty of room for a buffet, dance floor, and games/activities in the stables. We didn't need a ton of flowers or furniture or decor, because the venue itself is so beautiful and full of character. We can't thank Judy and the Evergreen team enough for such an incredible experience! -

Evergreen was the perfect location for our wedding. Every single guest said how beautiful the location was. I used the Bakst Theater for the ceremony, Far East Room for cocktail hour, and the Carriage House for the reception. The staff at Evergreen were always helpful and they were so easy to work with. Everything went without a hitch and the pictures game out so beautiful! You would be amazed at how beautiful the ceremony in the theater turned out! -

WOW! The Evergreen Museum is the most spectacular venue in all of MD- I am sure in the country too! What you can see in pictures is beautiful but in person it is truly breathtaking. The grounds are immaculate and the buildings are stunning but what you can't see in pictures in the amazing staff. Judy and the team at Evergreen are the most professional, kind, creative people in the business. They were great at communicating and offered more than was ever expected! How a woman deals with multiple brides a weekend all year long and can remember so many things about you personally and be so attentive is an amazing talent! I cannot say enough kind words about the venue and staff- they are world class! -

If I had all the money in the world, I would not choose a different wedding venue. Truly. The Evergreen Museum & Library was so perfect, I just don't have enough wonderful things to say. Judy and her team were a pleasure to work with every step of the way. We looked at several venue options for our wedding, but when we went to the Evergreen, we knew it was the one. We knew the beautiful grounds would be picture perfect and the rustic elegance of the Carriage House was just what we had been looking for.
Judy was wonderful to work with, was quick to answer any questions that we had and very accommodating. She even helped us save money by working with our vendors!
From the farm to table concept for our reception (held in the stalls) and our dinner (held in the white tent) to our gorgeous wedding held in the front room, our wedding was our dream come true. Everything was perfect and are so happy that we selected the Evergreen for our special day. -

Our experience with the Evergreen Museum, especially Judy Moskowitz, the events office manager and her staff was exceptional From the moment my daughter and I met with Judy we were treated with respect and they listened. The grounds, patio, carriage house and stable were beautiful and all were ready for us. The Evergreen Museum staff was attentive and ready when guests arrived. Our experience was so memorable and moving and to have had such a beautiful venue with no hitches due to the professionalism by the Evergreen Museum staff made the wedding absolutely gorgeous and my daughter was absolutely happy which made me the "Mom" very happy.
Any future bride, groom and "Mom's" of the bride will love the experience of having your wedding at the Evergreen Museum. Putting your most memorable event in the hands of Judy Moskowitz and her staff will result in you being quite happy for a very, very long time. I am and this is September, 2014!.

The staff at Evergreen were fantastic. We worked with Judy, who was so helpful, professional and accommodating. The bride and groom live out of state, so as the parents of the bride, there was a lot of coordinating to do. The venue was beautiful and our guests all said it was the best wedding they ever attended. Compliments included "fairy tale" , "like a movie setting". Best of all, the bride and groom said the Evergreen exceeded their every expectation; it was perfect. -

We absolutely loved having our wedding at the Evergreen! As beautiful as the venue was the element that won us over was the impeccable service that we received from Judy-She made sure we had every question answered and was always ready to help with any last minute wedding questions...and we had some:) As someone in the wedding industry I was dissapointed by the caliber of service with many businesses when I started to reach out after being newly engaged-it can be overwhelming trying to find the best people to work with on such an important day. I believe all couples should have a wonderful experience and I feel confident in saying that I believe the Evergreen to be flawless in their customer service.
Their property is not only diverse but historic and exquisitly charming. We had planned on an outdoor ceremony, but weather proved otherwise and the staff and our wonderful planners of Lemon and Lime created a beautiful set up for our indoor ceremony. You can see some details of the Evergreen on our sneak peek wedding video from the talented married duo of Lovell Productions. http://www.lovellproductions.com/jon-and-kirsten-wedding-film-baltimore-md/
Thanks so Much,

My daughter's wedding at the Evergreen Museum & Library was magical. The lush, elegantly manicured grounds were the perfect backdrop to the ceremony, cocktail hour and photographs. The unique setting for the wedding party in the Carriage House wowed our guests and set the tone for a great celebration. The Evergreen staff went out of their way to assist with the day of event details. And Judy Moskowitz is the absolute best venue manager I've ever worked with and I'm an event planner! Listen to her - she knows her venue well and will save you unnecessary expenses while achieving your dream wedding. -

The Evergreen staff went out of their way to assist with the day of event details. And Judy Moskowitz is the absolute best venue manager I've ever worked with and I'm an event planner! Listen to her - she knows her venue well and will save you unnecessary expenses while achieving your dream wedding. -

After looking at several different venues for our wedding, we thought we'd take a look at the Evergreen Museum. We knew the minute that we finished our tour that this was the place! The museum itself is nothing short of stunning. Beautiful Tiffany stained glass is everywhere, and room after room is filled with character and charm. After deciding that we wanted our wedding to be at Evergreen, we began communicating with the private events coordinator, Judy. She was quick to answer questions and very easy to talk to. Not only did she help to organize our event at Evergreen, but she also communicated with the rest of our vendors to make sure that our night was flawless. Judy, along with the rest of the Evergreen staff, couldn't have been more helpful and pleasant. We can't thank them enough! -

I was planning my Baltimore wedding from California, in under 6 months, and I (understandably) felt a little pressured when selecting my vendors. However, picking the Carriage House as the location for our reception was relatively easy. The setting is beautiful, and it is walking distance (though we drove, given the August heat) from the Loyola Alumni Chapel, where we got married. Judy was great to work with. She is responsive (she even answered my initial inquiry call after 6pm on a workday, although she did tell me not to get to used to that :), professional, and highly accommodating. Could we visit the site a few times before the event to figure out the layout? Of course. Could she coordinate with our photo booth company to ensure the seamless delivery and removal of the booth the night of the event? Absolutely. Could we hang a Lego tilt-rotor airplane from the ceiling so that it delivered the bride and groom onto the top of the cake? As long as we didn't put any new hooks into the walls, yes.
We picked almost all of our vendors from the Evergreen's recommended vendor list, and we were really happy with all of them. We also booked the museum for an hour in between our ceremony and reception, and our guests really enjoyed getting to explore the museum and learn some Baltimore history. The Carriage House is charming, and while it looks a little spare empty, it is lovely fully decorated. We were worried about the temperature given the timing of the wedding, but it was nice and cool indoors. The grounds could not have provided a more beautiful setting for our photographs. We were incredibly pleased with our reception and I am so glad that we chose the Carriage House at the Evergreen Museum. -

The Evergreen Museum and Library was a wonderful place to have our wedding. The staff was friendly and more than ready to help make our day so special. We used the Upper gardens for the ceremony, the terrace for the cocktail hour and the Carriage House for the reception. It was a beautiful day and the space worked wonderfully! -

The Evergreen Carraige House provided just the perfect place for our wedding. The space was flexible, somewhat of a blank canvas and allowed our guests to enjoy the event.

As mother of the British groom Andrew Smith, at his wedding to Susan Spector, I was very impressed by both the staff and surroundings of the Evergreen Museum. My husband and I had had the opportunity to be shown around the venue a year before when visiting from the UK. The setting of the garden for the ceremony and the stables for the reception seemed ideal, especially when explained fully by the staff.
However it was impossible to truly imagine the impact of the venue on the day itself. Although rain forced the ceremony inside at the last moment, it did not detract from the occasion - the chairs and flowers were in place in time in the carriage room so that no one would have realised that it was ever going to be any different. We moved to the stables area for the serving of aperitifs where the stalls had been put to a variety of good fun uses, including games, photos of the bride and groom and a photo booth. On being then ushered into the meal, the dining area under the marquee had been transformed by various different decorative lighting and large Chinese lanterns with I'm sureround tables seating between 8 and 10 guests - these all remained in place throughout the evening providing a place to sit down away from the music. Then the dancing took place back in the cleared carriage room.
With the 3 areas as outlined, there was plenty of room for the 85 guests to spread out. The venue staff were in attendance for the whole 7 hours that we were on site , together with the wedding planner. -

From the beginning, my fiance and I said we wanted a balance of elegant and rustic and Evergreen Museum fit that bill perfectly. We had both known about the venue as a museum and art space, but didn't know about its potential as a wedding backdrop. And it's gorgeous. The ceremony space feels like a European garden, the cocktail hour on the terrace feels elegant, and the reception at the Carriage House feels rustically charming with the exposed brick and horse stalls.
Working with Judy was also a breeze, as she was always fast and responsive to my questions, always emailing back within a couple hours. Everything went off without a hitch the day of thanks to Cynthia and we couldn't have been happier that we chose Evergreen for our wedding! -

If you are looking for a unique show stopping venue, look no further than The Evergreen. All of our guests raved and asked how I found it. I must have looked at 30+ venues, the venue was by far the most important thing to me and The Evergreen was everything that I was looking for and more. The house is impressive, the gardens are beautiful, and the carriage house is so unique. The Evergreen is a one of a kind wedding venue that will be sure to impress all your guests. -

Evergreen Museum and Carriage House is an absolutely incredible place to have your wedding. They have locations for all wedding events to be on the property. The beautiful country-feel provides the perfect place for a wedding. Judy, Joan and the team were all extremely helpful, very responsive and always willing to offer advice and feedback. The venue is a bit of an investment, and was a bit out of our budget when we booked it, but it was without a doubt, one of the best investments we made for our wedding! I highly recommend this venue!! -

We chose to have our wedding at the Evergreen because of the great location, incredible ambiance and old world charm of the historic site once belonging to an Italian Ambassador. Since my fiancé and I have a love for Italy, especially Florence, we felt as though we were standing in the Buboli Gardens when touring the mansion's upper garden. I have always wanted a tented wedding, therefore the flat grassy area was a perfect setting for our large tent.
Anna, our event coordinator was incredibly accommodating and very responsive by phone/email. I would highly recommend the Evergreen Museum as a wedding venue because the staff is great, your guests will LOVE it and it is one of the most beautiful locations in Baltimore city! -

The Evergreen was excellent throughout the entire process. Given that you get to use three locations for their outdoor weddings (gardens for ceremony, patio for cocktail hour, carriage house for reception) it felt like the most space for our money. On top of that the employees are very responsive and clear about what you can and can't do. The setting is beautiful and we highly recommend the location. -

Extremely beautiful venue and great team
Evergreen Museum and Library is a hidden gem for Baltimore weddings. The venue coordinators and managers are very professional, very polite and very communicative. We could not have asked for a better place to get married. The pricing is reasonable, and the contract is clear and well-specified. The venue team also provides a list of vendors that they have worked with in the past, which is a long and helpful list. Thanks for everything Evergreen! -

Gorgeous venue!
I couldn’t have imagined a more beautiful place to get married! My husband and I fell in love with the Evergreen as soon as we saw it. It’s gorgeous, it has a unique history, and it’s right in Baltimore! Skyla was very responsive and easy to work with throughout the planning process. Almost all of our other vendors came from the Evergreen’s list of preferred vendors, and they were truly the dream team! There are dozens of stunning places to take photos around the venue. It is an old building and a museum, so there are certain things about the property that require creative solutions, but the staff and the Evergreen and a good coordinator are totally prepared to help you with those. For example, the Carriage House is not handicap accessible, so we made special arrangements to help our grandparents get from cocktail hour to the reception. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. If this venue is your dream like it was ours, then I highly recommend it!-

We absolutely loved hosting our September 2019 at the Evergreen. Their team is incredible, very responsive and incredibly invested in making sure that your day is perfect. I had my wedding here 6.16.18 and am so happy I had it at the Evergreen. It was very important to me to have an outdoor location with a backup in case the weather wasn't. It would up being beautiful and the garden was absolutely perfect for my ceremony. My guests loved cocktail hour on the patio and the reception in the carriage house was absolutely beautiful. The office staff was extremely helpful and prompt in their responses. There were probably more restrictions than a lot of venues because it is a historical site (set up times, photo locations, etc.) but they were very forthcoming about any guidelines we needed to follow and they were not an inconvenience to comply with. My photos are beautiful and it is such a unique location for a wedding! -

The Evergreen was a perfect venue for us! From the beautiful gardens to the charming carriage house, it was the perfect backdrop for our wedding. The venue is a museum first so they do have strict guidelines around timing (e.g. delivery times, rehearsal time, etc.), but they also make it very clear from the start what the parameters are. -

My husband and I were looking for a rustic wedding venue - perhaps a barn or a vineyard, when we stumbled upon Evergreen (thanks to another bride to be's recommendation). We surprised ourselves, and fell in love with the venue. The venue is breathtaking. it combines elegance and class (the upper gardens with the museum and library as a backdrop) to a more down to earth, rustic feel (carriage house and the stalls). The flow and feel of the evening was wonderfully complimented by the space. Judy, the event coordinator, is the type of person you can trust with planning a momentous occasion. She is detail oriented, knows the venue's rules inside and out, honest, direct, and always quick to respond. She provides a list of recommended vendors which is helpful for planning purposes. We were able to do a final walk through on the grounds about a month prior to the wedding with Judy, allowing us to fine tune any last minute details. We were provided with a one hour block of time to rehearse onsite the day before our event. There is not a whole lot of flexibility with the timing as they host other events on site on the weekends. They hold one wedding a night which means you have the space all to yourselves. There is a groundskeeper who lives on the grounds and takes care of the property. During the event there is security onsite. The venue requires that you take out insurance as it's a historic site. They also require you hire a valet company to help your guests park. There are two event coordinators that the venue provides onsite during the event. They do not serve as day of coordinators. Their primary purpose is to manage the venue during the event (i.e. restock bathrooms, temperature control, watch bridal suite). They have a bridal suite of sorts - it's an office space set up with chairs and a full length mirror. Thanks to the Evergreen we had an unforgettable wedding! Our guests fell in love with the grounds and Carriage House just as we had. I highly recommend this venue. -

Wonderful venue! Judy is great to work with and the natural beauty of the gardens, the beautiful mansion and the carriage house speaks for itself! The extra bonus of the tent being up for all events is a huge selling point! There are several issues where the venue lacks flexibility because of preservation issues but nothing that would be prohibitive. We were thrilled to use the space and our guests could not stop raving about how beautiful the space was! -

We had our wedding this November at the Carriage House at Evergreen and everything went beautifully. They were great in working with us to figure out the right rental agreement for us - we wound up adding the museum's Far East room so we could use that for our Ketubah signing. As I was planning my wedding from out of town, I had limited times that I could come to see the venue in person, but Judy was very flexible in accomodating our travel schedules and even letting us in to see the venue one more time a couple of days ahead of the wedding. A very beautiful location (I can't wait to see photos!) and a very helpful and professional staff. -

We chose Evergreen Museum and Library because its an absolutely stunning wedding venue. We held our ceremony in the Upper Garden and originally planned on having our cocktail hour on the patio and reception in the Carriage House. Due to weather, we moved our cocktail hour inside - and everything was still beautiful. It is a bit expensive and there are some restrictions to follow in terms of timing and what you can and can't do on the property. The Evergreen staff was helpful in working with us throughout the planning process and helping us on the day of. We would definitely recommend Evergreen. -

Highly Recommend!
We loved having our wedding reception at Evergreen and had great experiences with each staff member we encountered. We found Judy and her team to be incredibly professional and knowledgeable about the property. We loved that Evergreen was very convenient to downtown (as we had a church ceremony in Federal Hill), yet maintained the feel of an estate in the country. The entire property is beautifully maintained and we loved that our guests got to experience several distinct areas (patio, upper gardens and carriage house), each with their own "wow" factors. Because the Evergreen house functions as a museum, and the property is historic in nature, they are perhaps stricter than other venues in terms of decor and timeline, but the rules are all clearly spelled out in their contract and we felt we were able to fully execute our vision without issue. We highly recommend Evergreen as a wedding or event venue because it provides a beautiful backdrop for a variety of decor styles, has a great rain contingency plan that doesn't feel like a compromise, and is run by a fantastic group of dedicated professionals. -

This venue was absolutely beautiful. It was the perfect blend of rustic and elegance we were looking for. We were able to fit 17 tables in the tented area of the carriage house with a seated dinner which made all of the difference with the flow we wanted. Dance floor was a bit warm in July, but it didn't stop everyone from dancing the whole night. -

Beautiful venue! We fell in love the moment we drove onto the property. We wanted to get married in Baltimore and what a gem tucked away in the city.
The property is well maintained which large gardens great for photographs and the ceremony and an amazing carriage house perfect for the reception.
Because it is a museum property, this venue definitely has some strict rules that must followed: limited times to get on the property for viewing/walk-through, limits to items used in the ceremony (i.e. rice, sparklers, pets, etc.), strict with when you can arrive at the venue on the wedding day (can hinder photo opportunities) and when you must be out, and a staff that watches you closely on the wedding day to make sure you are following said rules. These things didn't effect our wedding day, but something to consider if some things you may want for your wedding are not allowed. -

The venue is absolutely beautiful by itself and even more with added decorations. There were minor stipulations in the contract due to the historic nature of the site that prevented us from having our "dream wedding" but by no means were we dissatisfied with the venue. Our day turned out perfectly. -

We were so thrilled with our wedding at the Evergreen Museum. Judy and her team was so easy to work with - and they had great recommendations for other vendors across the board! Our guests loved the location and thought it was such a unique place to get married. There are tons of great photo opportunities around the museum grounds, and the patio and carriage house were the prefect setting for our event. A gorgeous combination of rustic beauty and old world elegance. We would highly recommend Evergreen! -

When we were on the venue hunt and our planner took us to Evergreen Museum & Library, we knew it was the place. The beautiful garden and the charm of the Carriage House was exactly what we wanted for an outdoor ceremony/indoor reception.
Our biggest criteria when picking a venue was that we did not want a hotel ballroom, we wanted some outdoor space, and we wanted a place with character where our guests would feel relaxed and not too formal. This was the perfect match!
The day of our wedding (and the day before) it was raining, so our hopes for the outdoor ceremony were really not looking good. But by afternoon it was sunny and beautiful. We still could not have our ceremony on the garden since the grass was so wet and saturated, but Evergreen let us have our ceremony on the patio instead at the last minute. We really appreciated their flexibility and understanding!
It was one of the more expensive venue options we looked at, esp since we had to rent additional chairs for the outside, but well worth it.
And we loved the groundskeeper, Ellsworth, who was so accommodating during our rehearsal too. -

Evergreen is a gorgeous place to get married! We had booked the garden for the ceremony, however it rained on our wedding day. But the staff were easily able to accommodate us inside the Carriage House, where we had the reception as well. Great layout, and wonderful ambiance (particularly at night). -

My wedding felt like a dream, mostly due to the absolutely gorgeous backdrop of Evergreen Museum and Library. My guests still talk about our beautiful venue and how I looked like I belonged in a Jane Austen novel as I walked down the aisle. We loved the Italian villa feel of the upper gardens and patio, then the more rustic and unique horse stalls down in the carriage house. We wanted a venue that was all inclusive for the ceremony and reception, a combo of indoors and outdoors, and reception hall with distinct rooms for different vibes throughout the night - Evergreen delivered all of these! Truly a stunning venue. Also helpful staff who will answer all of your questions, especially over the phone.
There are several important considerations when thinking of booking this venue. Given it's historic, there are restrictions, though none of them were deal breakers. Just make sure to read the fine print of the contract and be ok with the rules (i.e., candles are allowed but must be inside containers, no personal alcohol can be brought in, and it all must be provided by the caterer, within 30 min of your event ending the alcohol service ends). There are additional costs on top of the venue fee - you must rent chairs for any ceremonies in the upper garden (your caterer can usually handle that for you), you must buy event insurance, and you must book a valet to help park the cars. That adds several hundred dollars to the total price. Also, the typical rental is 5 hours with each additional hour being pretty expensive -we desperately wanted to have a longer event, so we had to organize an after party at the hotel to keep the festivities going longer. Also, the horse stalls in the carriage house were a selling point for us (so cool!) but became an additional task to fill with activities, so keep that in mind. The venue is on the pricier side for Baltimore, but all in all, so gorgeous. We LOVED it. -

The Evergreen is such a beautiful venue, we visited it first and never really considered any other location. We unfortunately had to move everything inside because of rain on our day, but it was still awesome. They are pretty strict on certain things, like certain areas you can be at certain times, we had people watching over us as we took pictures at all times, and strict rules on caterers but if you use their preferred vendors they are very familiar with these. -

The Evergreen is absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't have been happier with the location and the venue. From the beautiful winding driveway up to the main house, it really does take your breath away. When I first started searching for venues, I was on every wedding website I could think of, picking out ones that interested me. The day I went to see the ones I chose - I wasn't exactly WOWed by any of them. My mom suggested I google on my phone 1 more venue to look at before we called it a day. I found the listing for The Evergreen and was a little shocked it was the first time I had seen it advertised. We were able to get in that afternoon and I was hooked. Anna and her team were great - although it did take a few days for responses on emails, but they were always accommodating when I wanted to show the venue to my planner, mother-in-law and most importantly, my husband. We had our ceremony in the Upper Gardens, had the cocktail hour on the veranda and the reception in the Carriage House. It was October, so even though it was BEAUTIFUL out, it was a little chilly and we were able to rent heating units for the veranda and the Evergreen had no problem with it. It was a bit pricey, but totally worth it. My friends and family are still talking about how beautiful the venue was! -

All our guests loved the setting - we were fortunate the weather was good so everyone enjoyed the garden setting, patio and Carriage House. It would be nice if Evergreen would include outdoor chairs and tables in the cost to rent the garden - even if there was a small increase in price, avoiding the logistics of a separate vendor with delivery and pickup is helpful. -

The Evergreen was our dream venue, and we instantly fell in love with it when we first visit it. This was actually the only venue we ever visited. We knew instantly that this was it. Having been in Baltimore studying in Johns Hopkins University for over 4 years had somehow never heard of this hidden gem. It is the most romantic, historic, rustic site I had ever seen. Judy and Laura from the Evergreen were an absolute pleasure to work with. They were responsive to every question I had. Their provided vendor list is a huge life-saver! I cannot thank them enough! We ended it up having the ceremony in the lawn, cocktail hour on the terrace and the reception dinner in the North Wing Bakst Theater and ended our event in the Far East Room. The North Wing is the lesser-utilized place at Evergreen, but thanks to Judy's great suggestions, with its asian-flare, it made the perfect location for us! -

Beautiful backdrop for a wedding reception. The event was perfect. Folks at Evergreen were friendly and mostly accommodating. Only thing that I thought could be done better was the parking logistics and valet drop off. There isn't really space for turnaround and that created a delay but otherwise everything was perfect. -

We had our reception at the Carriage House in June. It was over 90 degrees out and the air conditioning was definitely not adequate for the space. We were quite hot. After one of our parents complained, it did appear to cool down a little so maybe the air wasn't on 100% when we arrived.
Lydia and Anna were so great to work with though and the site is gorgeous. It's something different and such a nice backdrop to a wedding. It was an expensive site fee, but I think it was worth it for the unique location. I would choose a cooler month though if I could do it over!!! -

We had our ceremony in the garden (under a tent unfortunately due to rain) and reception in the Carriage House. The place is lovely and staff is exceptionally helpful...especially on the wedding day. I also made a few site visits prior to the wedding and the staff was very patient and accommodating. -

The Evergreen is a beautiful site to get married at. If you want an outdoor wedding in a large garden surrounded by a beautiful renaissance style mansion, this is the place to be. It is serene and beautiful here. It is a great value for the rental alone if you use the upper gardens without a fancy tent and do the reception in the carriage house. However, note that if you do want an outdoor reception under a tent, those are all additional costs that you bear and you need to bring everything (including the tents, chairs, tables, linens, catering tent, etc). But we were set on this type of affair and loved being at the Evergreen. I don't know much about their event planning assistance because I had a planner, but that is something to inquire about - how much do they assist in executing your wedding day, thus you can determine what type of planner you need (day of, partial, or full). We had two events here, and our guests loved the setting.
The Evergreen does provide a list of recommended vendors, and because it is a historical site, they are particular about using from their list. However, the list is great because our tent company, Loane Brothers, works there all the time and knows the site very well and knows what looks great here, and our catering company (Linwoods) knew the site as well and knew how to manage their services at this venue. They were great vendors recommended by the Evergreen.

Evergreen is a stunningly beautiful venue with a wonderful events management team. We had a gorgeous wedding! Gave low marks in flexibility based on venue's requirement to use a limited list of caterers and limitations on decor and added elements (no rose petals for flower girl, no sparklers, limitations on who could hang decorations, etc.). Venue staff watched us like a hawk to enforce their rules for the whole event, including our "first look" which was a little awkward. These requirements were understandable as the Evergreen is a beautiful historical home and library, foremost. There were also separate add-on fees not included in the rental (had to purchase event insurance, rent ceremony and cocktail hour furniture, had to procure parking attendants, etc.). However, the main selling point for us (in addition to how lovely the space looks) was the rain option and indoor reception space. Most of the similar outdoor/formal lawn venues in the area we looked at (maybe all of them?) required a tent rental on top of the venue fee - but Evergreen has a large Carriage House (and adjoining tent) so that was a big savings for us. -

The Evergreen Museum is beautiful! We were planning to have our ceremony and cocktail hour outside in the garden but it rained all day and night! The staff at the Evergreen were amazing and quick to change everything into the Carriage house. Our wedding still was just as beautiful as we have hoped. The only draw back is since it is owned by Johns Hopkins, there are a lot of rules and regulations that you must follow but besides that Judy and staff were wonderful! -

The Evergreen is in my opinion the most beautiful spot to get married in Baltimore. The upper garden is perfect for an outdoor ceremony, the back brink patio is wonderful for cocktail hour and the carriage house is the perfect size for an under 200 people reception with a separate dancing room. The grounds of the Evergreen are amazing for pictures and I couldn't have been happier about how they turned out. My main event coordinator at Evergreen was great but the day of staff was stiff and did not seem to care in the least it was my wedding day. JHU is also very strict about rules (tying balloons with string to metal railing wasn't allowed??) and very particular about where guests were and were not allowed and one staff person searched our private bags that we were storing in the back of the carriage house. Overall, I am very happy about having my wedding at the Evergreen, however, there are a few areas they can work on. -

Evergreen is a drop-dead gorgeous place to get married. It's expensive, but well worth the money because you literally don't need anything else to decorate the space. We had our ceremony in the upper garden, cocktails on the terrace and reception in the carriage house and our guests could not stop raving about the venue. It encouraged everyone to have an amazing time in an amazing yet intimate and fun location. The carriage house is perfect for a romantic dinner in the tent followed up really fun dancing in the carriage house part. The colors are warm and it's such an inviting and charming space. The coordinators are friendly but they are a little slow to respond to questions. On the day of the staff on hand were great and very helpful. It's a historic site and it's heavily controlled so my gripes would have to do with the lack of flexibility. They wouldn't let us do sparklers which was a let down and a lot of other things are forbidden too but honestly the location is so beautiful I think it's worth it. The only thing I really didn't like is that they are inflexible about times: You are not allowed to take your event past midnight no matter how much you pay and I would have really liked the flexibility to go to 1 am. Another slight issue was that it's hard to prepare for your wedding here since the bridal chamber is really just the events office and you aren't allowed to leave anything in there. So that part of annoying but we got around it. I would definitely recommend it overall. -

August Wedding
We had our wedding reception only at the Evergreen Museum at the beginning of August. Having attended Loyola University for 6 + years, I had never been to the property before our site visit! I absolutely fell in love with the Greek columns, the gardens, and the carriage house which was historic but also recently renovated. I loved the tented option and brick walls! We had ROUGE for catering (they were amazing) and Jen Harvey Photography. Moore & Co Events helped planned the reception and everything was great! Scattered thunderstorms were projected for the day so we were happy to have an equally beautiful rain option of having cocktail hour in the 'wood room' but luckily we didn't need to use it!
The only negative about the Evergreen were the rules about taking photos before 4pm. We wanted to do a first look before the ceremony - but some areas are not allowed because it is a functioning museum. There were also A LOT of rules about decorations, lights, alcohol, etc, but nothing that really impacted the reception. I would definitely suggest getting a planner to help with these! I also didn't get great vibes from Judy - however Sam was great to work with. -

This is such a beautiful place to have a wedding! We were able to have the cozy and intimate wedding we were looking for! All our guest are still talking about how beautiful our wedding was! My only issue with the venue is, they are very strict with rules about when the wedding ends and the bar closes. We requested that the band play one more song and even though the band agreed we were told no by the venue coordinator. Also, guest who were in line at last call were not served, they literally had to to have a drink in their hands, not be waiting for one. Other than some of the inflexibility, this venue was lovely. -

The venue is really beautiful, both outside and in the carriage house. The beauty of the place and the event coordinator, Anna, were the most positive aspects of this place. Anna was great to work with, responding quickly to emails and offering some flexibility on timing. Generally, however, the contract for the venue is not very flexible and, despite the fact that two events cannot be held on the same day that utilize two different space at the facility, the spaces have separate rental fees.
My wedding happen to happen on a day during a huge power outage. While the venue was usable on generators, I would strongly suggest that they invest in either purchasing or obtaining a contract to secure some sort of swamp coolers or other back-up air-conditioning tool.

The location was beautiful and very adept for our larger outdoor wedding, which is why we chose the location. Indeed, the day turned out spectacular. However, I was not pleased by the frequent lack of response from the permanent on-site event coordinator. There were several times where there were delays before receiving responses to our questions, even after sending follow up emails. (The substitute on-site coordinator that stepped in for a period of time, however, was wonderful to work with and was very responsive - my review would be markedly different if based upon her service alone). The location is wonderful, the parking availability, the ability to use all of the sites spaces and the provided chairs and tables more than makes up for this concern though. -

The Evergreen House Carriage House is where we were married, but rented the "terrace" for the ceremony (it rained so we couldn't use it). We had to pay insurance, and there were some other fees that weren't really planned for. I thought it was a little too expensive, but it was a unique place, which is what we were looking for. The Evergreen planners were pretty nice, some more than others. I would recommend it, and hope that it doesn't rain that day! -

Our venue was stunning. It gave us a beautiful backdrop for our photos. We had no issues with the event team leading up to planning our wedding. This venue is a historical property so they have strict rules that must be followed, which is completely understandable. They have people on the property the day of the wedding, and we did have an experience with one of those women. It was starting to sprinkle, and our photographer was trying to get all of our group shots done before the rain started to come down hard, and one of the staff decided that she needed to confront my photographer at that moment and accuse them of breaking a flower pot. My photographer, who was rushing for our photos, told her that he had no idea what pot she was talking about, but they could just bill him for it. She would not let this issue go until I stepped in and told her that she needed to have this conversation at a different time. My entire wedding party was just standing there in the rain waiting for her to stop. Afterwards, our planners found out that the flower pot in question was literally massive and had not been moved by any of my vendors that day (so large that they couldn't move it even if they wanted to). In the grand scheme of things, this was not a big deal. However, this venue is not cheap, and she was completely unprofessional. There is a time and a place for that conversation, and that was not it. I am lucky that I had planners who were able to take care of this situation after she left and resolved it. If I didn't have planners and I was handling it on my own, I would have been very upset. -

I loved this venue because it was so classy, elegant and different than any other venue i had looked at in the Baltimore area. Judy who i believe is the events manager is amazing. she was there to answer any questions/accommodations and whenever we needed her opinion or recommendations she was there to give it. My only complaint about this venue is how strict they are. Can not have an open flame, can not attach things to the property because it is historic. There is an approved list that you can only use for catering, parking services, tents ect.. and all of these companies that are on these list are very pricey. You can not go outside their list either. Make sure you look at the approved companies that are allowed on the property prior to booking. Most of the catering companies on their list is a minimum of 100$ per person for food. This was an expense that we did not expect to be so high and because we booked the venue, we were stuck with choosing from their list. Also if you want to use the outside garden area and patio it cost extra. If it rains and you dont get to use the area you do NOT get a refund for the extra you paid. -
