Sorrell and her team made the process of planning my daughter’s wedding as organized and relaxed as it could possibly be. She knew when to lock in the vendors we needed—venue, florist, DJ, catering, transportation, etc., and was able to provide great recommendations for each vendor. She showed up in person for site visits, and was always available by phone, text, or email when we needed to check in about some aspect of planning or to quell our occasional flashes of anxiety. When problems arose, Sorrell and her team were there to troubleshoot until we found a solution. She takes care to cultivate her relationships with the vendors she works with, which goes a long way towards making the planning process as smooth as possible. On the weekend of the wedding, Sorrell and her team were onsite the entire time, handling the myriad details so that we were free to be present with our guests and simply enjoy ourselves. Sorrell and her teams’ calm, professional, caring presence was truly a gift. They handled everything with grace and ease and good humor. Choosing to work with Events by Sorrell was one of the best decisions we made in planning this most special event. We are eternally grateful for their help in making the wedding weekend the relaxed and totally joyful event we had imagined. -

We cannot recommend Sorrell highly enough. Our wedding took place in the summer of 2024 and was truly a gorgeous, unforgettable day—made possible in large part by Sorrell and her incredible team. Because we were living across the country at the time, all of our planning happened remotely, yet Sorrell was extraordinarily communicative, prompt, and organized throughout the entire process, which gave us complete peace of mind.
While our budget ultimately grew beyond what we initially planned, Sorrell helped us thoughtfully navigate those decisions, and we felt confident and happy with the final choices. When we encountered major last-minute challenges—including a hurricane that heavily damaged our venue (a family home) just months before the wedding—Sorrell was right there, calmly helping us adapt and make adjustments so that the wedding day itself went off without a hitch.
Our guests raved both during and after the wedding about how beautiful and fun it was. Through it all, Sorrell was a true joy to work with: kind, supportive, funny, and someone we would trust without hesitation to do it all over again. -

Working with the Sorrell and her team was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding in Vermont! From start to finish, they brought an incredible level of warmth, and amazing attention to detail.
Every element—from the timeline, Merri Virtual seating chart, to table decor and the decorations being exactly as we had planned on calls- was flawlessly executed. Their ability to anticipate needs before we even voiced them was amazing. No detail was too small, and nothing ever felt overlooked.
What truly stood out was the calm, grounding energy they brought to the entire process!
Their support was unwavering. Whether it was navigating last-minute changes, coordinating vendors, or simply checking in to make sure we were feeling good, they were always one step ahead and genuinely cared about making our day perfect! We have to shout out, Kim who was our coordinator and truly did such a beyond beautiful job! Our wedding would not have been the same without her! Kim we love you!

If you are planning a wedding in Vermont or the surrounding states, Sorrell is the planner for you. She is the calm in what will be a very hectic time in your life. She is WELL connected in the area and has relationships with vendor's across the board (even vendors outside of New England because she attends national wedding planning conferences and networks well). If you are not a creative person, like myself, she will take the disconnected things you had envisioned for your wedding and turn it into a dream. I had the most beautiful wedding at the Woodstock Inn in Vermont and I am so glad I chose Sorrell as my wedding planner. Especially day of, if anything went wrong, I had no clue because Sorrell was on top of any problem before it became a huge matter. I got to have the perfect day that I will cherish for years to come. Special note: I was a bride living in Texas planning a wedding in Vermont and long distance planning is hard. Sorrell made what could have been an immensely difficult process as easy as it could be. -

Sorrell is incredibly professional, and you totally feel like you can count on her and she is going to do everything she says and then some!! The perfect team!!
I cannot say enough about how fantastic Sorrell and her team were throughout this entire process. Trying to plan a wedding in the midst of residency was no easy feat, but Sorrell didn’t bat an eye and helped us to create a wedding weekend that was exactly what we envisioned. She and her team were so kind, so reassuring, and so on top of everything that when the day finally came, we could truly just sit back and enjoy. From the very beginning she understood exactly the energy we were trying to cultivate and worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure all our vendors aligned with that vision. We are eternally grateful to her and her crew for giving us a weekend so filled with love and joy. We cannot recommend this team enough!!! -

We had a intricate 3 day Indian wedding with lots of moving pieces, Sorrell and her team were able to see and establish our vision, navigate complexities intrinsic to a big Indian wedding, and help create our wonderful wedding week. Sorrell and team exceeded all of my expectations. From start to finish, she executed our wedding plans flawlessly - the day of our wedding went extremely smoothly because of her.
I hired Sorrell in June 2024, after both of my husband's sisters used her at their weddings. She was so attentive, and so helpful (as the wedding experience can be overwhelming) and I thoroughly enjoyed all of the time we spent together over the last year and a half. The weekend of the wedding was of course so emotional, and there were so many logistics to figure out to make sure wedding party, guests, and vendors knew what to do. Sorrell executed the entire weekend so flawlessly and calmly, and I truly could not have done it without her. My entire family was so impressed and so grateful that we made the decision to hire her - it really allowed them to be present and not worry about the details.
I am so thankful for not only her planning, but for her friendship over the last few years. I am going to miss this planning process with her now that the wedding is over. Thank you Sorrell for everything you did, we cannot begin to express our gratitude. Love, Kate and Pete -

As a Mother of the Groom, I decided to work with Sorrell to help coordinate the rehearsal dinner -- it was the best decision ever!
From our very first meeting, Sorrell's perspective made a value-added contribution to the planning process. Her tremendous sense of style turned a plain room into an upscale "Vermont Picnic." Her advice at every juncture was spot on, and the vendors she recommended were professional and creative.
Most importantly, Sorrell exudes grace and calm. The entire wedding weekend was seamless. But I KNOW how hard she was working behind the scenes to make sure everything met expectations.

Best Wedding Planner!
We couldn’t have been happier about using Sorrell and her team at EBS for our wedding in the White Mountains. Her attention to detail was impeccable and she really took the time to get to know us as a couple.

Without hesitation, I wholeheartedly recommend Sorrell Downing and her team at Events by Sorrell. We hosted a late spring wedding ceremony and reception for up to 130 guests at our home. When Sorrell visited our property to assess our needs, we knew we made the right decision. Sorrell quickly took everything in hand. Her direction was impeccable, introducing us to vendors that best suited our needs and design sensibilities. Sorrell and her team coordinated them all effortlessly. Sorrell was responsive, calm, and an excellent problem solver. She handled herself professionally with our family and vendors. Her planning was thorough, with both onsite and online meetings. An online portal gave us access to her planning tools, budgets and billings, and 3D rendering software to allow us to visualize the wedding in the planning stages. The wedding day more than exceeded our expectations; it was glorious. As the Mother of the Bride, I could relax and enjoy ten months of planning that passed memorably and excitedly in a matter of hours. The bride and groom said it best: “It was the wedding of our dreams.” And indeed it was.

Her organization, vendor contacts and keeping everything on track helped us book a large wedding in 6 months. Sorrell was there each step of the way to coordinate with vendors, the venue and ensure everyone was on the same page. She was open and honest on what we need and what we didn’t need to meet our wedding vision. On the day of the wedding, Sorrell and her team ensured every little detail was perfect and it was. Kind, Collaborative and an INCREDIBLE eye for design
Hiring Sorrell was the best decision we made while planning our wedding (save the decision to get married!). She gave us exactly what we needed in the planning process and on wedding weekend: space to engage on pieces that were really important to us and complete confidence that she would take care of the rest. Sorrell’s unique combination of emotional intelligence and organization skills make her THE choice for creating the event of a lifetime.
Not only is she kind and professional, she has deep knowledge of New England wedding vendors and incredible design instincts. We chose a DIY wedding venue, so we had to find vendors for everything (even toilets). Sorrell helped us find partners that fit what we were looking for and fostered an incredible vendor team environment from planning to executing the actual event.
Lastly, she has an incredible eye for design. We wanted an understated aesthetic with lots of color. She brought this to life with beautiful table linens, simple furniture and tableware, and incredible partnership with our florist to pull it all together. She created a tent that felt warm and fun.
We can’t wait to find another reason to throw an extravagant party so that we can work with her again!

Perfection
Sorrel and her team are wedding planning / design / day of coordination masters. After this experience, I am certain that she was both integral to the success of my wedding (which was completely rescheduled due to COVID) but also make my celebration more beautiful and whimsical than I could have possibly dreamed myself. To start - she is a design queen. My mountain farm venue was transformed into the most perfect event space. I am obsessed with orange, and she figured out how to make this aggressive color classy (hello tamarind!). Next - she is the master of coordination and multi-tasking. Everything was under control and she was aware of every detail, no matter how small. She not only kept me on tasks for my personal crafting projects, making sure I met the deadlines, but also came to my house and picked up the items I had been storing for the wedding, ensuring that I didn’t have to think about anything other than myself. Lastly - whether it was by text, call or Zoom, she was constantly open and available, allowing me to make decisions which she executed. Look no further than Sorrell. Who after this experience, you will wish she offered Life Coaching ;) -

An amazing wedding planning experience!
I had the best experience working with Sorrell! She was a lifesaver for me. My husband and I got engaged during during covid and wanted to plan a small outdoor wedding at Aldworth Manor in NH in October. I came across Events By Sorrell and am so glad I did. Sorrell was so helpful through the entire process from helping us find vendors to keeping us on track for each and every step. She was super responsive to my every question and was a calming force when I needed it. She was always so reassuring that everything would be beautiful and it was. Her design work was STUNNING and she made all of my visions come to life and more. She went above and beyond. Sorrell is very detail orientated and was so accommodating to all of our requests. She helped my husband and I pull together our dream wedding in two months. Our guests couldn't believe what we had accomplished in that time frame - you would think it took a full year. Not only is she an amazing planner but also so kind and friendly! We were so lucky to have her. I highly recommend Events By Sorrell. Your wedding day will run smoothly and everything will be absolutely gorgeous!!
Lastly, our florals were by done by Emily Herzig Floral Studio and our photographer was Kate Preftakes Photography who were both SOO talented. Sorrell, Emily and Kate were a dream team! -

Sorrell is amazing and knows this business backwards and forwards, inside and out. There was not one time where she said we couldn't accomplish what we envisioned. Sorrell totally has a can-do attitude and has the background and knowledge to make it happen. Her coordination of our vendors and the absolutely seamless way she made everything happen without me even knowing in on the wedding day was incredible.
