Everything we wanted
Having our wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at Estia was as close to perfect as we could have hoped for. We booked with them about a year in advance, and from that point they were extremely flexible with all the details: menu selections, table arrangements, schedule of events. They met with us in person several times and talked on the phone. They let us store decor in a smaller room next to the banquet hall the day before the wedding which was a life-saver. Shout out to Mia, who was our awesome go-to person! The main reason we chose Estia was because the food is seriously some of the best we've ever had. The second reason is the space is beautiful, not cheesy, and has a romantic ambience that we love. We had about 50 people and from what we hear they loved the food, enjoyed the clean and lovely atmosphere (that wasn't too elaborate or fancy but just very nice), and they enjoyed themselves dancing on the dancefloor section of the banquet hall (which is located in the basement level but doesn't feel like a basement at ALL). The bathrooms are also nice. We loved that Estia wait staff took our guests' orders for their entree when they sat down (from a list of 4 choices we pre-selected), so the experience was very individualized for everyone, and they also made sure to have substitutions for anyone with gluten or other allergies or vegan diets. They even allowed one of our guests to bring his own kosher meal and heated it up in their kitchen (something other venues did not allow). And the cost of everything was extremely reasonable for a city wedding downtown with excellent food. Seriously, they do not charge a separate "venue fee" or rental fee, there are just food and beverage minimums, gratuity for staff, payment for bartenders, and guest minimums (I think you have to have at least 35 or so guests for the larger room, and much less for the smaller banquet room). They do require a deposit (ours was $1500), but it was taken out of the final bill. The Wine Room that holds up to 12 people is also fantastic; we used it for our Rehearsal Dinner and they also let us store our belongings in there during the wedding. All in all, they are unfussy, customer-service focused, make excellent guest meals (same quality as an individual diner would get), do not charge anything that we found to be extraneous, have friendly staff, keep a clean establishment, are very flexible and open to your ideas, and we genuinely felt they cared about keeping our day running smoothly. We didn't have a day-of coordinator, so the extra attention they gave, though not as much as a dedicated coordinator would have given, to ensure guests were in the right place and the food was coming out, etc, was very appreciated. If you're looking for a city venue for a wedding reception and/or indoor ceremony (or bar/bat mitzvahs or family reunions to be honest) that is simple and elegant, has great food, is friendly, and will not overcharge you for food and drink and fees, go with Estia! My parents paid the final bill but by our estimation it was less than $8000 total. just perfection
We had our micro-wedding reception in Estia’s gorgeous wine room. It was private, stunning, cozy, and perfect for our small joyous crew. And the food was TREMENDOUS! Don’t leave there without trying their honey walnut cake! They worked super well with our florist and our cake baker, and everything was just perfect thanks to the friendly and accommodating events team there! My husband and I highly recommend hosting an event with Estia! We had our micro-wedding reception in Estia’s gorgeous wine room. It was private, stunning, cozy, and perfect for our small joyous crew. We couldn’t have asked more. It was the perfect place to have my wedding and have absolutely no regrets. Amanda was pleasant….I think she was more worried and on top of everything. Everything turned to be just perfect. The atmosphere, organization, seating, food (both quality and quantity). My guests were amazed by everything. Thank you Estia for a night that I will always remember! We couldn’t have asked more. It was the perfect place to have my wedding and have absolutely no regrets.
