What A Night!

DJ Rich absolutely crushed it as the DJ and MC for our wedding reception. I had the time of my life. My only complaint is that the night had to end!

Our pre-wedding meeting with Rich the week before the event was incredibly helpful. He picked up our vibe right away, and he made sure everything was going to flow smoothly. And sure enough, every transition throughout the night was seamless.

Our reception entrance was electric. DJ Rich energized the entire room.

I literally ran back to the dance floor the few times I had to leave it throughout the night. I didn’t want to miss a minute.

We loved our entire experience with DJ Rich. Highly recommend!!!

The absolute best!!!

From our first meeting with Rich we left knowing we just chose the perfect Dj for our wedding! He was so patient and understanding while having to reschedule the wedding 3 times (thanks covid.) We had quite a few songs that we wanted to start at certain timings and made it happen flawlessly. He took the time to help figure out how we could make the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to work and correspond with the bridesmaids as well. We met one more time the week of the wedding at the venue to go over all the details, the timeline and even brought the up lighting to see what color we wanted to go with and placement of them. Day of the wedding everything went perfectly! Rich made the day go so smoothly, I felt like I got a bonus wedding planner. 😉 Everything stayed on track, I knew exactly what to expect throughout the night and he kept me updated on what is next! We hear all the time how much fun everyone had and got so many compliments on the “rapid fire photo game”(a must do and so much fun) I truly can’t say enough great things about Rich and his team! They played a huge role in making our day perfect!

Premier is an understatement.

Rich and the team at Essence Entertainment are truly a tier above the rest. We worked directly with Rich to book the perfect package for our wedding that fit our needs AND wants. The week prior to our wedding we sat down with Rich to finalize songs - he worked with us to find the perfect music for each special moment, the one hour meeting was so smooth, he put us both at ease as we walked through every last detail and somehow it didn't feel even a little bit rushed.

They truly worked to make our day EXACTLY what we wanted. The night before, we made a last minute decision to move the ceremony outside (70 in November?!) and Rich ran with it without a second thought. The last minute change didn't feel last minute at all because Rich and team are true professionals at what they do. On the day of, Rich and Patryk were so easy to work with, we had so many compliments from the other vendors with how “on it” they were. From music, to emceeing, they truly nailed it - the playlist got everyone on the dance floor, and they even joined in for The Wobble! My MOH’s speech was a Hamilton parody, the music timing was so perfect, you would’ve thought they practiced for weeks leading up.

Highly Recommend Essence Entertainment!!

From our first meeting with Rich, we knew him and his team would be exactly who we wanted for our wedding. Rich is extremely personable and easy to talk with. We used Rich for two years, once for our ceremony and then for our reception a year later. Both times Rich was easy to work with and accommodated all of our requests.
He made sure that we didn’t have any stress on either of the nights and took complete control putting me at ease. Rich played our requested playlists plus many other fun songs to keep up with the vibe of our reception.
We also used uplifting from Essence and it helped pull together the overall vision of our reception room. We utilized the photo booth as well and all of our guest had so much fun with it. We loved the photo book that came with everyone’s pictures from the night.
We would highly recommend Rich and his team at Essence Entertainment over and over again!! Thanks again for a great two years!

More than expected

From the start Rich was very easy to work with and made us feel at ease. He was able to accommodate all of our requests as well as our guests. He had no problem playing our specific playlist and adding to it to play for the crowd on the dance floor. From the moment the dance floor opened there were always guests out there having a good time until it was last call. He over exceeded our expections! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone we know.

Best decision you’ll ever make in wedding planning

Hiring Rich and Essence entertainment was the best wedding planning decision we made. Rich did such a great job perfectly capturing the fun, energetic vibe we wanted for our wedding. We only put a few songs on our ‘must play’ list yet every single song felt like it was exactly what we wanted to hear. Rich did a great job playing a little bit of everything and kept the party going all night. There was never a moment the dance floor wasn’t packed. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would.

Highly Recommend!!

From the first time we met with Rich we knew we had to book with him and Essence! We felt instantly comfortable with Rich and knew he was exactly what we were looking for entertainment for our wedding. We ended up splitting up our wedding this year and only using Rich for the ceremony. A few days before the ceremony, Rich confirmed our selection of songs and on the day of the ceremony we did a quick run through of everything. Rich was so accommodating and easy to work with. My husband and I can’t wait to see Rich again next year for our reception! We were very thankful to have such an accommodating vendor to work with in this year of uncertainties.

Best of the best!

I don’t even know where to begin! Rich and his team are AMAZING. We had to postpone our wedding twice and Rich was so accommodating every time. My parents were also so happy he kept them in the loop throughout the night . Rich constantly checked in on us to make sure everything was going well throughout the night. He made us feel so comfortable, he felt like our friend! His team also made the photo booth run so smoothly and our friends even had fun taking photos with them! I could go on forever but I promise this vendor is worth It! Don’t waste your time looking for anyone else!

HIGHLY Recommended!

Rich and his team at Essence Entertainment were absolutely incredible! From the day we met Rich, we knew right away that he had the excitement and personality to make sure everyone at our event had an incredible time.
While the Essence team did a great job with the typical DJ requirements (music, speeches, A/V, etc.) what makes Essence stand head and shoulders above anyone else we spoke with was their commitment to going above and beyond to make sure every every moment was perfect, viewing themselves as full event MCs. The kind words of advice shared leading up to and on our wedding day to make sure we had the perfect time was really special.
Essence took our song recommendations and curated a perfect playlist that had EVERYONE at the wedding dancing the entire time, and made sure to check in with us before playing a guest-requested song that he wasn't sure we'd want played (his assumption was correct).
Our wedding was perfect, and we have Rich and the Essence team to thank for a lot of it!

Excellent!

Tom was so friendly and helpful. I appreciated the initial sit down, face to face, meeting with him. He asked what we wanted and what was important. He went over everything with me. He was so engaging I could tell he would do a great job. He gave an overview of things from his perspective. Helpful suggestions on what gets people motivated to get on the dance floor. I had told him I wanted everyone dancing. Unfortunately, with coronavirus many people did not feel comfortable to get out in the dance floor but those that did really danced the night away. He played great songs to keep the flow and energy going. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and the music had such a big part to do with that. We are so happy we went with Essence Entertainment!! We highly recommend them!!

Fun was had by all!!

Rich and his crew DJ’d and MC’d our wedding day and we could not have asked for a better experience. Look No Further Than Essence Entertainment

Rich and his team were stress free and super easy to work with. We weren't super strict on our music selection, and wanted to enjoy our time at our ceremony, and they were able to keep the party going while we were out and about the reception area dancing, visiting with family, etc. Although planners are always great to have, I knew I could rely on the DJ to help keep us moving along with the evening festivities.

It was also very sweet when we got to meet Rich face to face. He cared about us as a couple, and our experience on our wedding day, and provided some nice words of encouragement and reassurance. It was just nice and refreshing to hear!

Jack was awesome!

Two weeks after our wedding and all people keep talking about is how great the music was! My one goal for my wedding, besides the obvious of saying “I do” was for everyone to have fun. Mission accomplished thanks to Rich, Jack, and their team. Not only was the music great but the lighting added so much to the room and the photo booth is a must have. Also love that we were given a book of all the pictures taken that we can look back on and smile. I cannot thank these guys enough. Pictures to come!

An Unbelievable Night!

Consultation process

Meeting with Rich and Jack for a consultation was so calming in the DJ hiring process. Much more than just a DJ

Rich is a great guy to work with. He scheduled time to meet us personally, then at his office, then at our Venue (Tuscany Falls Mokena, another 5 star review) and again 2 days before our wedding. We had some odd requests for music like a Disney soundtrack mixed with trap and dance music, sure enough, he made it happen. He made sure the room was upbeat and fun for everyone, read the room well, and knew when it was time to slow it down. He made sure to tell us to take a step back and soak in the experience, because the day will fly by.

Our Wedding September 2018

We used Essence Entertainment for our wedding on September 6th 2018, and they did an amazing job. I met Tom at a bridal expo in the fall of 2017, and he was the one who worked with us for our wedding. He was very detail oriented with what we wanted for our wedding, and he went over and beyond our expectations for the music we used. He also acted as the day of coordinator for events of the day, which was perfect because he kept reminding us of things he knew we wanted, but we kept forgetting about! This company is amazing, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is getting married. I would definitely use them again, for any future event if I get the chance!

Fantastic!

Essence Entertainment was absolutely fantastic! Tom and Jack truly made our wedding something special. I was completely stress free on the big day. Jack made sure every detail was covered and coordinated with the other vendors to make sure the day ran smooth. He stuck to the timeline we put together and let us know when we needed to do the cake cutting, first dance, bouquet toss, etc. This made the night so simple and I wasn't worried about what needed to be done next. We also got the photo booth which came with an attendant and our guests said it was the best photo booth they had seen at a wedding. I would 100% recommend Essence Entertainment to anyone!

We used Essence Entertainment for our DJ and photo booth. Tom was our DJ for the evening and he did a PHENOMENAL job. The dance floor was always full and he perfectly incorporated what we envisioned with what would make a wedding crowd happy. He always checked in with me to make sure I was happy or if I needed anything. He coordinated calling up tables to our buffet and even made sure we made it out to our photo booth. It's easy to get carried away with the craziness of the night and miss some of your own entertainment, so it was awesome to have someone there to coordinate the schedule and little details. I wouldn't hesitate to use these guys again for any DJ needs. They were amazing!

Essence Entertainment is AMAZING!!!! Tom was our emcee and DJ. We heard about all of their awards in Chicago, so we couldn't wait to have them be the DJ for our special day. (They traveled all the way to metro Detroit to help us! --And the pricing was competitive with local DJs.) Rich and Tom met with us beforehand to understand exactly what we wanted --the feel, the vibe, the music-- and then delivered above and beyond, accommodating all of our requests from a photo booth to ceremony audio. Big events can be stressful... but Essence Entertainment took care of all of the worrying for us. Once the reception started, they took over the wedding and it was like we were guests at our own event. More than a week later, we’re still hearing from all of our guests about how much they loved the music, the flow of the night. We really couldn’t have imagined a more magical experience. Thank you!!

We had a great time with Rich and Patryk at our wedding in August! From the day we reached out Rich was always very responsive to our emails and was flexible with meeting times. He has solid experience, always gave great advice, and we felt totally comfortable with him taking the reigns on our wedding day! They listened to our music preferences and also have great insight on what will get the crowd on the dance floor and stay on the dance floor. Choosing Rich helped making our wedding day the best day of our lives and we are so thankful that they played such a huge role! Rich is THE BEST! So good in fact that I used him for the second time when I got re-married this year. After my first wedding back in 2010 so many of my guests were impressed by him that they also hired him for their weddings (at least 5 I can remember). My brother also hired them for his wedding this summer and my bff is using them as well in December. The value, expertise and service are unbeatable. No one can read a crowd like Rich, he is truly talented and kept the dance floor packed all night! He also did the up-lighting for our reception (at theWit) and did a fabulous job.

When we were searching for a DJ we needed to find one who could also speak polish, and cater to the mixed cultures that our wedding would have. I recently stood up in a wedding that Rich dj’ed and remember being so impressed, and the fact that he spoke Polish and had plenty of experience with mixed cultural weddings made going with Rich & Essence Entertainment a no brainer. The company offers so many different options and packages to choose from, and completely customizes everything to fit your wedding needs and budget. From our “name in lights,” to the photobooth our guests couldn’t get enough of, to the beautiful uplights, our wedding was nothing short of amazing. Rich was extremely organized, professional, and personable, which made working with him easy. Most importantly, he kept the party going all night, and all of our people dancing with his wide variety of music that catered to both of our families and friends, and our mixed cultures. We have been receiving compliment after compliment about how much fun, and how much dancing was done at our wedding, and we owe it all to Rich and Essence Entertainment! Tom was our MC & DJ for the night and he was amazing. We emailed, talked on the phone, and met several times before the wedding. He provides this amazing online planner that helps you (and him) with a timeline for the day that includes places to put your songs for introductions & special dances. The planner also has a section for requested songs that can go on a "Must Play" list or a "Do Not Play" list and he and the other DJs really abide by that!
Tom & Essence Entertainment also have a photo booth and services they provide which was a MUST for our wedding. There are several options for style of booth but they all come with a custom scrapbook where guests can put their photos and write notes to the couple & then we were given it at the end of the night. Each person also got their own copy of the photos! We used that scrapbook as our guest book & are LOVING looking through it still. Tom also provided us with our wedding favors--he ordered us magnet strips that fit the photo strips perfectly and then the entire thing becomes a fridge magnet! It was the perfect addition to add as a favor for our guests to keep their photos nice.
Tom also did a site visit with us a month before the wedding where he came to the venue & we walked through it & discussed our lighting & any of the extras we wanted. Our uplighting turned out GORGEOUS!
They also provided mics & for our Reverend & readers during our ceremony which was awesome.
Tom was at the venue early & set up before the ceremony even began. He constantly came to check on us to see if we needed anything & kept us on time. The music was amazing and the perfect mix of everything we asked for-everything from Dean Martin to Taylor Swift. Every song we requested was played & mixed perfectly into the night. We even had a custom dinner music playlist! Tom & the guys really know their stuff and are extremely professional. We chose Essence Entertainment to DJ our wedding after we saw what an amazing job Rich and his crew did at ourgood friends wedding. We can not say enough good things about this company and everyone who works there! Rich was very easy to get ahold of and you could really tell he wanted to provide an personalized experience for us so that we got exactly what we wanted! The music was great, everything was coordinated perfectly and he took a lot of the planning stress away from my husband and I! We also had them do our photo booth which was a huge hit! Everyone had so much fun with the props and we absolutely loved the fact that we got copies of everyone's funny pictures so we can always remember them! Rich was professional, down to earth and made sure everyone was dancing all night which is exactly what we wanted!

Rich was absolutely fantastic - he met with us to get an idea about what we wanted and we could tell from the first meeting that we wanted to work with him. We canceled other meetings we had lined up and have no regrets! We met once more before the big day, he went through what we wanted, gave us tips on things to think about throughout, and assured us that he intended to be our coordinator and take care of all the details - and he did just that! We had him be our DJ as well as put together a slideshow to play during dinner, which people are still talking about! Rich had people on the dance floor nonstop the entire night, and with very little direction from us - we trusted he'd feel the crowd out and he did a great job of that! Highly recommend Essence Entertainment!!

Rich was absolutely amazing! He really went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding was everything that we had dreamt of. He met with us at the venue the week of the wedding to go over the schedule, music selection, and uplighting options. There he told us that once the ceremony was over, we no longer needed to worry because this was our time to celebrate and that he would manage all of the scheduling from there. He also told us to make sure that we step away and take some time to ourselves to take everything in because this day was about us. This was HUGE because it showed that Rich genuinely cares about his clients. We received so many compliments on the music and his personality. Personality aside - the music was excellent and the dance floor was full the entire time. One of our friends who was in the wedding party ended up booking Rich for her wedding, too because he did such an amazing job. He really is the best!

Rich is an amazing DJ and MC. I am so happy we chose him and his team for our wedding. He definitely went above and beyond to make sure our day went exactly how we pictured it would go! Our wedding planner actually sent him to the wrong location for our ceremony and he RAN over to our ceremony site to make sure everything got set up on time. I always got the sense that he really cared about my husband and I, and that he wanted us to have a blast/exactly the the type of day we wanted. If you're deciding on whether to book Rich or not, JUST DO IT. Oh! And the photo booth is huge- it's awesome!

Rich did an awesome job coordinating and DJing our wedding. He is the type of guy that will go the extra mile to ensure your day runs as smooth as possible. We had a few special requests of custom mixes and songs played on cue and he absolutely nailed it. He does a great job keeping your party on schedule and keeping your guests on the dance floor having a great time. I highly recommend Rich for your next party!

Rich was amazing to work with!!!!
My husband I are both Bulgarian but have lived in the US for many years, so when it came to the music at our wedding we wanted to have something for everyone (Bulgarian music to represent our culture) and new EDM music that we and our friends listen to all the time.
Both of us were afraid that if we overdo it with one type of music either our Bulgarian friends and family would not have fun or our American friends will feel out of place.
Rich was amazing in helping us find that balance. He took the extra time to email back and forth with us and schedule extra meetings in person to ensure that our wedding was blast.
He was able to smoothly incorporate both cultures for our big day, so that no one was feeling out of place or bored.
We made a fantastic choice with Essence Entertainment and we could not have asked for a better DJ for our Special Day.

Rich and his company was extremely flexible and understanding. He did anything he could to accommodate our requests and make our day feel special and personalized. We always had people on the dance floor all night long, which was my biggest concern, but Rich did not let us down, it was a great party! The photo booth was also a blast, I wish I had more time to actually go in it...best piece of advice is as the bride and groom, use our photo booth first before your guest come in to the reception! There's no way we would have gotten other photos...we were all over the place the rest of the night!

Absolutely an amazing company! Tom, our mc/dj, never was rushed at any meeting or phone call. All our questions were answered. Even provided an excellent wedding favor to go along with our photo booth. Up lighting was worth the upgrade and helped make our venue look exceptional! Rich was so professional and so helpful from day one. He took the time to consult with us and offer suggestions based on his experience. On our wedding day, we were 45 minutes late to our reception. Needless to say, I was stressed when we arrived. Rich assured me that everything was under control and he made the necessary adjustments based on the new timing. He insisted that we sit back, relax, and enjoy our dinner. Rich, if I haven't told you already, you have NO idea how much I needed to hear that! Rich from Essence Entertainment hosted our wedding and we cannot recommend them enough. Rich and his team was very professional and ensured that our day was stress free and awesome. We were worried about people not being on the dance floor, as we have a wide age range and many generations that attended. However, once dancing started the dance floor was always full. Rich and his team did a wonderful job at our wedding. They played every song we requested and made sure everyone was having a great time. The lighting and sound was also very good. We did the name in light which everyone loved and the uplighting of the room which also looked amazing. The service was very professional and helpful which is very imprtant when planning a wedding. All of our guests were on the dance floor the whole night and did not want to leave. This was the best decision we made for our wedding!! Tom was the absolute best!! We had two DJS and used their photobooth! It all was fantastic and perfect!! He kept everyone out on the dance floor all night long and played all the songs we requested. My husband and I loved everything about this company. They put 100% effort into your and your special day! We wanted my uncle to sing out first dance song and Tom worked with my uncle to make that happen and it was awesome! If I could give more than a 5.0 rating I would. I couldn't have asked for more then what I received. Rich was very professional with us starting with the first visit at his office all the way through to our big day. He helped us out with everything we asked. Ranging from his personal opinions on a playlist, to even as far as helping us out with a timeline of events on our wedding date. Never once did he make me feel like i was being a nuisance, even though I'm sure I was at times! After he helped prepare us for everything, he executed everything flawlessly on the big day and I couldn't have asked for anymore. He even went as far as going up to my mother and commenting how great he thought the party went, which may seem like something small, but was truly an amazing thing to hear from my mother. I highly recommend Rich for any events you need a DJ for. He's a stand up guy and a true professional. Thanks again!

Rich was an amazing DJ, from before the wedding until the last minute of the night. He made sure he had a good grasp on our music preferences, the timing of everything throughout the evening, and any special requests we had. He also took care of everything during the reception so that my husband and I could enjoy the night. Near the end of the evening, there was an injury on the dance floor which made everything come to a halt for about 20 minutes. Not only did Rich do a great job of getting things moving again right when we were given the go ahead, he even stayed an extra few minutes to make sure we didn't miss out on any time. The dance floor was full the entire night and our guests talked about how much fun everyone had and how they hadn't seen people stay on the dance floor that long in quite a while. I would definitely recommend Rich to friends and family with confidence.

Rich and the staff at Essence Entertainment were stellar from beginning to end. We knew what we were getting from our initial meeting and were so excited to choose our own music and plan the day through the super-helpful Online Planner. At the wedding itself, Rich took over as MC flawlessly - you can just tell he is an experienced professional. I trust him completely (and when something was threatening to derail our agreed-upon plan, he advocated for me and my groom - what couple wouldn't want that on their day!?). Our guests had the BEST time (and even some wedding crashers complained that their music "wasn't as awesome as ours") - they danced and took pictures in the photobooth. We had a multicultural reception and wanted to make sure the music fitted all of our guests and he did it! My wife and I were referred to Essence Entertainment by a close friend. From the point when we had our first meeting with Rich I knew we were going to use them for what I thought was going to be just DJ services. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Rich had made it a point to reach out to the wedding planner as well as the other vendors to coordinate the details of our wedding which was on 08/16/2014.

The day of our wedding was an absolute blast! Rich and his crew brought their "A" game from start to finish. The room at Drury Lane Theatre where we had our reception was breath taking. We went with the Essence Entertainment Premium Package with the photo booth. I cannot describe the elegance that the lighting brought to the room for our special day. I think every guest made it to the photo booth and had a terrific time doing so.

Once the music started Rich had the entire room on their feet dancing the night away. Rich brought an energy to the dance floor like I had never see before. His interaction with everyone from the wedding party to the guests made the night memorable beyond words. I would highly recommend Essence Entertainment for any special gathering that you want to make a lasting memory of.

DJ Scott rocked the house at or wedding! He kept the crowd going all night & had a great feel for the diversity of our group of guests. We had SUCH a blast dancing the night away, it was perfect!
He was spot on with timing of the night & politely keeping things moving along. The pre wedding meetings were perfect, informative, specific, & professional.

We used Essence Entertainment for our wedding on 11/8/14 and have no regrets! Rich was great to work with from beginning to end. Before the wedding, he was extremely responsive, professional and was very helpful in working through the timeline of the reception. He arrived at the reception early and was all set up and ready to go by the time we got there (throughout the night he worked seamlessly with the reception staff). During the reception, he was prepared with the notes from our previous discussions and did exactly what he said he would do. In addition, he checked in with me throughout the night without being intrusive or annoying. He also made changes to the music on the fly following my ad hoc requests and/or reading the dance floor. I can’t stress how great it was working with these guys, they are nice, responsive, intuitive, fun and yet extremely professional. When I have another event where I need a DJ, I won’t waste my time interviewing anyone else — I’ll go straight to Essence! Thanks to Rich and his assistant Patrick for a great night!!

We had Rich Dj our wedding and we are so glad that we did. He was very helpful with the planning of the evening and how to segue between different portions of the event, and he was extremely good at keeping the evening moving and the energy up on the dance floor the entire night. We had heard that the Dj can make or break an event, and we could not have asked for a better person to ensure that our night went exactly as planned. He used all of our songs and added in what he thought would work when necessary. We both highly recommend Rich to anyone looking to have a great time at their wedding!

WOW these guys are top notch! What truly made this DJ service great is their prep work prior to the wedding. The online form you fill out with song selection, schedule etc is great! It was really easy to work with and allowed you to fill out some at a time so it wasn't so daunting. My DJ, Tom Ulrich, was amazing! He kept things moving smoothly. Rich was an amazing DJ for our wedding. He got the crowd going and kept everyone going until the end! Finding a good DJ for our reception was pretty important to us and after meeting with Rich, we knew that he would be able to achieve this. We used essence entertainment for our DJ, photo booth, and up-lighting services. This was a last minute decision because we were going to go with a ipod DJ and we decided against it because we realized the importance of having an actual DJ at the wedding.

Rich was our DJ and he did a great job to ask us the correct questions for our reception. I like how he listened to what music we wanted because we've been to so many wedding where the bride and groom thought the music selection was terrible. This was not the case with Rich, not one person sat down at our wedding! :) Everyone danced!

Our favorite part during our meeting with Rich was when he said "When you get to the reception you do not make anymore decisions, that is the time you get to relax and enjoy yourselves". He made that happen; when I was supposed to toss the bouquet, he found me and when my husband was supposed to do the garter he found him. We didn't have to worry about a thing!

The up-lighting made the reception shine! He put the up-lighting exactly where it should be, and it made the venue look beautiful!

The photo booth was a blast! We love seeing everyone go nuts! The amount of props that we had was more than I've ever seen at a wedding photo booth!

If you are leaning toward this company we highly recommend it!

Rich and his crew were simply outstanding. In addition to the DJ services, Essence also provided the event lighting and photo booth. I can't tell you how many people that attended our wedding said it was by far and away the best wedding they had ever been to, and Rich and crew had a lot to do with that. Prior to the event, Rich augmented the venue's look with strategically placed lighting that took the room from spectacular to breathtaking. He provided elegant background music for our cocktail hour that greeted our guests upon arrival and then transitioned that into the evening's main event flawlessly. His DJ chops kept everyone dancing and smiling throughout the night and even those that weren't on the dance floor complimented the music choices. Our guests also took advantage of the photo booth that Essence provided and, based on the mountain of photos we have, everyone agreed that it was a smash hit. Rich and his staff were exceptionally professional and accommodating and also took great effort to ensure all of our guests were engaged in the nights festivities. Overall, Essence did a magnificent job and we are so thankful we chose them. I would recommend Essence to anyone looking for DJ services and more. Thanks again, Rich, great job!

We interviewed these guys for DJ services because they worked a friend's wedding. They showed us their portfolio that included lighting, so we had them include lighting in their proposal. Their proposal was very competitive so we hired them. I'm so glad we did. Tom did an incredible job. The lighting he provided made our venue incredible and he did a fantastic job keeping the party rolling with the music. Both portions were difficult. I had casino tables at our wedding so the lighting needed to work well with that. The bride is originally from Colombia so Tom had to play salsa tunes for her family that most of my family wasn't familiar with and he had to mix them with some American favorites. If he didn't play them together so flawlessly, the dance floor could have lost all momentum, but that didn't happen. Somehow, he managed to pull it off. It was a great party and it looked beautiful. Job well done Tom. My wife really was comfortable with him and I appreciate that a lot. I liked him too. HIre these guys!!

We are so happy with our decision to have had Rich Bednara as our DJ for our wedding reception. He did such a wonderful job. We met with Rich about a week before the wedding to talk about final details and everything we expressed to him was done just as we had hoped for. He played a great variety of music at the reception and the dance floor was full the whole night! My favorite thing about Rich is that when we first came in to the reception I started to try and organize the bridal party for the grand march...Rich stopped me right there and he said, "you are done planning, you just relax and have an amazing time." He completely took over and I did not worry about another thing the rest of the night. I highly recommend Rich for his professionalism, quality of service, and flexibility.

Our wedding was November 9th, 2013 and everything was perfect! I cannot say enough good things about Essence Entertainment. From the moment we met with our DJ, Rich, he put our minds at ease. He was on the same page with all of our music choices and accommodated us in any way he could. The night of our wedding, he was not just our DJ but he coordinated the entire night and as I said before, put our minds at ease. He made the night fun and kept the dance floor full! I would recommend Essence Entertainment to anyone! We definitely made the right choice!

I cannot say enough good things about the services we recieved from Essence! The DJ/MC, Rich, was so willing to play all of our goofy song choices and was on the same page with all of our requests! Rich was also very helpful in making suggestions for uplighting that was in our budget. He was also so nice to all of our guests in trying to accomodate their requests. We could not be happier with the choice we made!

Tom did a great job of making our wedding reception a memorable time for all. Even though we were tough to track down at times due to chasing our toddler around! Meeting with Rich and Tom set the stage at the beginning and they delivered. Even my 7 year old niece sang karaoke! I would totally recommend these guys to anyone planning an event.

From the first meeting we had with Rich, I knew he was going to be our DJ. He's charismatic and hilarious, sets you right at ease about the whole wedding planning process, offers suggestions on what to add to your wedding package and how each additional item would effect our evening. He was realistic and never pushy.

Essence Entertainment ROCKED. Our introductions were perfect - the music was exactly as I envisioned it and the entrances were perfectly timed. Our speeches were well paced due to Rich's organizational brilliance, and the photo montage Essence put together for us was FLAWLESS. I'd seen the photos all a million times and seeing it all together, even *I* cried. My mother was obsessed with the whole thing, and the crowd LOVED it. I wish I could have that moment of the whole room enjoying that photo montage forever.

No one wanted to sit down the ENTIRE night. From conservative coworkers to college friends to aunts and uncles, every single person was enjoying themselves and dancing it OUT. The best part about Essence Entertainment was how well they read the room - I couldn't believe in 6.5 hours he never once flopped onto a "whoops, everyone sat down" song.

We've been married for two weeks now and I still have people calling, texting, and coming up to me to ask WHO that amazing DJ was. Rich and his team created the atmosphere I dreamed of for my wedding and made it look effortless - all at a price that was thousands of dollars cheaper than I expected to have to pay. They MADE our wedding the unforgettable, amazing, partyriffic evening I dreamed of, and I can't imagine it getting any better than that.

Tom DJ'd our wedding and surpassed all expectations. He is great to work with and he knows how to do his job very well. He read the crowd and kept the dance floor packed. He also made sure the entire night flowed perfectly. Everyone had a great time. I would highly recommend this company!!

We worked with Rich for our wedding on 10/13/13. He was one of the best vendors that I dealt with during this entire process. He was always available to talk and was very responsive whether it be email or text. I basically spoke with him only twice about what we wanted our wedding music to be like and he nailed it. We had a huge bridal party (31 people including us) and I felt that he completely took control and the entrances were done without any issues. His recommendations for music and how the night should unfold was very helpful. I would recommend Rich to any bride out there looking for a dj to take control and play music that has everyone on the dance floor all night long. Thank you for making our night one to remember!

We had the most amazing wedding thanks to Essence Entertainment!!! Rich Bednara's attention to every detail is unmatched along with his ability to coach you through the whole wedding process. The uplighting and draping created the perfect ambiance for our venue. Rich and Tom, our dj's, kept the flow of the of the night from, introductions, to cake cutting, to special dances, and most importantly they kept the crowd rocking from hit after hit. I couldn't have dreamed up a better wedding, thank you so much Essence Entertainment!!!

Rich was our DJ. He worked with our busy schedules to make sure everything was perfect! Rich was very personable and read our guests to keep everyone dancing and having an amazing time! His thoughtfulness about some of the little things we didn't think of really made our wedding day even better!!!!!

The best DJ ever! He called before the event to go over everything before the day. He traveled to Iowa for this event and we're so fortunate. I couldn't have imagined a different dj. He was responsive to our requests, offered great suggestions & ideas, made sure the dances & speeches went smoothly, confirmed pronunciations of the bridal parties names before introducing to ensure he said it right. Had incredible organization keeping us on track with our schedule. Had a variety of music! Amazing online forum to enter specific songs you do/don't want played etc. Again, best DJ I've witnessed! Definitely highly recommend!!

We could not have asked for a better DJ. He was attentative to our needs. He was easy to get ahold of. He made sure we were on track with our music selections. Our wedding reception ran smoothly! And our dance floor was non-stop jam packed!! All of our guests had a great time and loved the music!

We used Essence Entertainment for our ceremony music, reception music, up lighting, and photo booth! All of their services were amazing and everything that we wanted. It was so nice and easy to use one vendor for all these services!
The photo booth was full all night and everyone had a great time! The photo booth came with props which all the guests loved. Picture quality and photo strips were great. The photo book was ready to go at the end of the night and Monica did a great job putting it together. We got all the pictures online very quickly after the wedding and sent out an email link to the guests.
Rich kept the energy up all night and the dance floor full. He checked in with us throughout the night to make sure we were happy and that everything was going well. Rich did an excellent job selecting a wide variety of music for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. The ceremony music and up lighting were also perfect and just what we wanted. We loved working with Rich, Monica, and Essence Entertainment. We would highly recommend them to anyone!

We were referred to Essence Entertainment through a close friend. We met with Rich and was very impressed with his professionalism and how detail orientated he was. We booked them and could not have been happier how our evening went. All of their equipment all modern, we upgrade to the 10 ft Trussing with the intelligent/computerized lighting. It looked awesome! We also got the uplighting with made the room look unbelievable. We went with the premier package so we had two DJs (Rich and Vinnie). Both have great personalities and were very fun to work with. Rich made our night unforgettable and we did not have to worry about anything! He was like a wedding planner for us! lol During of first meetings, he helped us pick what we wanted and then handled it all that day so we did not have to worry about anything once we showed up to the reception. We just listened to Rich, what a relief that was after all the planning! We did not have a particular set of music. We wanted an X amount of songs played after that we figured Rich is a professional wedding DJ, he will know what to do. The dance floor was filled all night! We had nothing but compliments about how the whole room looked and our DJs. You always hear, a DJ/Band will make or break a wedding! I can tell you without a doubt, Essence Entertainment will make your wedding!!!!! Thank you very much Rich and Vinnie!

My new husband Joe and I could not be more pleased that we chose Rich and Essence Entertainment for our wedding. We were originally referred by some of our best friends, and have been pleased with all communication, meetings, and services ever since. Rich was wonderful, especially when dealing with some of the smaller issues that may have seemed bigger to myself as the bride. He was extremely friendly and made me comfortable that everything would run smoothly at our initial meeting, as well as any further communication. Rich and Tom created the perfect mix for our wedding. People were on the dance floor all night. It was a well-rounded selection that got everyone out on the floor at some point. My husband’s 86 year old Grandmother was on the dance floor all night long, and danced through the entire reception. Rich & Tom made sure that everything was running on schedule throughout the evening. The up lighting and backdrop that were provided by Essence Entertainment were a perfect fit, and just added to the vision we had for our wedding. We have been receiving nothing but compliments in the days since our wedding about everything, and I would absolutely recommend (and already have) Rich, Tom and everything Essence Entertainment to future couples.

We want to Thank Essence Entertainment for the Wonderful job they did at our wedding.
Essence Entertainment went above and beyond to make my wedding amazing! My friends and family are still talking about my wedding and wish I could throw another party like my wedding because they had so much fun. Essence Entertainment started by sending me an at home consultant, which answered every question I had and even gave me great suggestions for different ideas. My at home consultant then helped me set up an online account which allowed me to organize my entire wedding schedule and music. Essence Entertainment provided the great MC and Dj, amazing lighting though out the entire room, and the photo Montage. Rich did a great job as the MC, Tom did an amazing job with the music and Sara did an awesome job with the photo Montage. I will continue to recommend Essence Entertainment for all your party needs! Essence Entertainment did a fantastic job for us! Rich was our DJ, and he really made the whole process effortless for us. He met with us twice, and both times he came to our home. I work longer hours so he made himself available to us in the evening which saved me a lot of time and stress. We hired Rich to do our uplighting and our photo montage. He went to our reception site beforehand to get a feel of the space so he knew ahead of time exactly how he would set up and the best spots for the uplights. His website for selecting music is really user friendly and the suggestions are very helpful. The reception went off without a hitch thanks to Rich's detailed planning. We had exactly enough time for everything. Rich brought so much energy and managed to keep the dance floor packed from the first dance all the way until the very last. The uplights were beautiful and really brightened our space! The montage Rich and his wife put together brought tears to a lot of our guests. Essence Entertainment is great at what they do. So great, that I recommended them to one of my best friends, and I am happy to say that I will see Rich again at her wedding in October! Thank you Essence Entertainment. Essence Entertainment saved our marriage! As we were going through the wedding process and stress was starting to build, nothing made us feel more comfortable going into our wedding day then our detail meeting with Rich. He took us step by step through the entire day and told us "he would take care of everything," and he did! From the moment we got to our reception we didn't have to think of about one logistical detail and enjoyed our entire wedding. The ambiance he created with the uplighting was whimsical, and transformed the entire venue. His song selection and ability to keep the dance floor overflowing the entire night, can not be duplicated. We wish all of our vendors were as a pleasure to work with as Essence Entertainment!!!

Rich and Tom are AMAZING! They really know how to start a party and you never want it to end... especially for our wedding! The uplights were beautiful, as well as our name in lights!! One of the best nights of our life and we're happy we were able to share it with Rich and Tom!

Rich went above and beyond to make our wedding perfect. My husband felt very strongly about the music for our reception, so he had the task of finding a dj. He hit the nail on the head with Rich. We were both blown away by Rich's hard work not only leading up to the wedding, but also while at our reception. He answered texts and emails from us, sat down with us to work out a reception timeline and truly understand our interesting music preferences. On the day of the wedding, we didn't have to think about anything. Rich followed the timeline and kept us on track; he made sure that he had my toss bouquet so that I wouldn't have to worry about it when it came time for the bouquet toss; he cracked all 200 glow sticks that my husband had purchased so that when he turned the lights down, we could immediately get the glow sticks into our guests hands. He really kept the party alive and kept the dance floor hopping. More than that, though, when the power went out for 30 minutes during dinner, Rich was the one that was talking to the owner of the hall and reconfiguring his setup so that we could still do speeches and the blessing. I can't thank Rich enough for being so incredible to work with and for keeping our wedding flowing smoothly despite the bumps!

We were recommended to Essence by a co worker and are very happy with our decision. We initially were referred to Rich but he was unavailable on our special day and worked with Scott instead. Scott was great. He was involved in the wedding without being too involved. Spoke but not too much and you could tell he had an outgoing personality. Rich was the go to person and was very responsive and even met with us at our venue to confirm the color and placement of our uplighting. Scott made an effort to pronounce all of the names correctly and he did a great job. He dressed professionally too. We have no complaints! Thanks guys!

I highly recommend Essence Entertainment to Dj any wedding. Our Dj had everyone at reception dancing, including my husband's 84 year old grandmother. They truly created a fun and exciting environment for our special day!!

Rich and his team were fantastic from day one! Throughout the planning process Rich was very patient and helpful as we planned for our special day. The tools that Essence provides are also extremely helpful at ensuring all of details are communicated with your DJ ahead of time, including your song preferences. A couple months ahead of our big day, Rich realized he had a family conflict and said his next best DJ in the company would be providing DJ services for our wedding. While we were slightly bummed, Rich did offer us free uplighting for our entire reception room due to the change, which he definitely did not have to do. Our reception room looked beautiful and Casey did a great job the night of our wedding! The only hiccup was on some timeline adjustments, but overall everything went as great as one could hope for. I would highly recommend Rich and his team for your wedding day. You will not be disappointed!

Rich and our DJ Casey were amazing to work with. They were quick to respond to any of our questions/concerns and made some great suggestions as we developed our play list. We were very pleased with Tom and Essence Entertainment. They were able to read the crowd and adjust the music when needed. I loved that they had an electronic profile where you could compile your song list and set up everything for your big day.
