Erin is the best! We hired Erin for our wedding and we could not have been happier with her service and photos. Erin listened to all my requests and even offered to visit the venue with me for scouting. The day of the wedding went very smooth and we had full confidence that our memories were in good hands. When the photos arrived, we were brought to tears with how beautifully they came out. She provided a large collection of high quality photos that were professionally edited. As an artist myself my standards were very high and Erin exceeded my expectations! I could not recommend her more. -

My husband and I had the pleasure of having Erin as our wedding photographer for our May 2024 wedding and we couldn't recommend her enough!
Erin was incredibly detailed and thorough during the planning process, and helped guide us step by step to ensure she had the timeline and shot list so that she could work her magic on the big day. While visiting the venue with us prior to our wedding date, she was incredibly mindful of all the aspects that help us capture the best possible photos. She even visited once more on her own to confirm the lighting at the exact time of our wedding!
On the wedding day itself, Erin was very prepared and leveraged the timeline and shot list to make the most of her time with us. She did an excellent job of managing the timeline while ensuring that as a couple we had the freedom to experience the day as we most liked without feeling restricted. Like most brides, I was a bundle of nerves on my wedding day, but I definitely feel like having Erin accompanying us and guiding us throughout the photography really helped me feel at ease and honestly made my wedding day even better. We had multiple guests comment at how organized and pleasant she was to work with. She has an incredibly comforting presence :)
We worked with both her and her teammate Adam on the day of the wedding to ensure we could get plenty of photos of both the groomsmen and the bridesmaids. Adam was such a pleasure to work with as well! He put in so much effort to get us the best possible shots and I can't say enough how much I appreciate his hard work tossing my veil up and then hearing his footsteps as he ran out of the shot, so he could act as the "wind" in my veil for our various shots!
We received an incredibly comprehensive first look of photos about a month after, then received our full gallery 4 months later. It's a bit hard to explain but she did an amazing job at really capturing the energy of the day and the heartfelt emotions that my husband and I experienced throughout the day. The photos feel incredibly natural and vivid. The wedding day goes by in what feels like an instant and I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful set of wedding photos to treasure for the rest of my life.

We had the pleasure of working with Erin for our engagement pictures and wedding in 2022. We couldn't have made a better choice - Erin was amazing! The Best!!
We could not speak more highly of our experience booking Erin as our wedding photographer - we are absolutely thrilled to have had the chance to work with her! Throughout the entire process, Erin was incredibly kind, easy to work with, and flexible - she truly went above and beyond to make sure our wedding photos turned out perfectly. She also did an amazing job making sure everyone was comfortable and that we got all the photos we needed - everyone in the wedding party reached out saying how delightful she was to work with! We could not be more happy with the results - she truly captured every moment stunningly (even throughout on/off rain!) The best photographer!
I would hire Erin over and over and over again for anything I would want professionally photographed! Erin shot both our engagement and wedding photos, and not only was the quality of the photos amazing, she took so much extra time and care to make sure they turned out just as we had envisioned! She is so sweet, professional and fun to work with! She went above and beyond for us, especially because we do not live in California and had to plan everything from afar. Erin scoped out multiple places for our engagement and weddings photos, gave honest and professional feedback and found the most amazing places to take photos! She even found a specific TREE I had seen in pictures in the area but didn't know the location, I was absolutely amazed, she made us feel so special and truly wanted to bring our visions to life :) Her responses were always quick and she was always very organized and took away so much of my stress about getting all the photos we wanted. She worked so well with everyone on the day of the wedding and we have since gotten so many compliments from family and friends about the amazing job she did. We are so beyond thankful for her work and dedication. Any couple would be lucky to have her by their side for their special day! Thank you for everything Erin!! -

Absolutely Beautiful, Personalized Wedding Photos!
My husband and I fell in love with Erin's photos on her webpage; her aesthetic is exactly what we wanted for our wedding. Erin is so professional and does absolutely beautiful work but is also so warm, caring and positive. Erin truly wants what is best for the bride and groom; she scheduled a day for the three of us to tour the venue together! She did this so she knew ahead of time where the best shots would be taken and at what times would be best. She is highly detailed and thinks of every possible shot and wants feedback from the bride and groom in terms of what will make their wedding photos special and personalized. It is so rare to find a vendor that truly has the best interest of the bride and groom in mind. We are so incredibly happy with the photos that Erin took at our wedding. They are so beautiful that our friends and family literally gasped when they saw them! -

Highly recommend Erin!
Erin was incredibly sweet and she and her second photographer did such a great job for our traditional Chinese team ceremony/Chinese restaurant reception! She was so gentle and yet so effective at maneuvering my large extended family for family photos, and never forgot about all the portions that we wanted captured throughout the day, because I definitely would have forgotten myself! The access to the photos afterwards via Google photos was also such a blessing - not to mention her rates were so reasonable for such a long day (we needed her for 12 hours)! -

Erin Shimazu has been such a joy to work with! Her photos for my wedding came out breathtakingly beautiful. I can't express this enough--having her as a photographer was one of the best wedding decisions I made. Her attention to detail is stupendous--and she is so kind and responsive. To be honest, I was probably the one who was harder to work with because she had to remind me of my own photo/planning to do list so many times, but she was always so accommodating. When we met before the wedding, she made me feel comfortable and helped make the photography go seamlessly on our wedding day at The California Club. There was a moment when I wasn't sure I wanted to spend the time taking a picture I had requested due to timing, and she reminded me how important it was to me, led my husband and I to the photo, and it really ended up being one of favorites. -

It was such a pleasure to work with Erin these past few years! We actually hired her in 2019 for our 2020 wedding, but of course, COVID-19 happened and we were forced to postpone. We were so fortunate to have her photograph our courthouse wedding in June of 2020 (distanced, of course)! And when we finally set a date on our postponement, we did 2 engagement shoots in early 2022. The day of our wedding itself, everything went smoothly. As a couple, we didn't really have a huge vision on what we wanted, but we gave Erin a general guideline on what shots we wanted and how we wanted the day to go. For us, it was mainly, "Please tell us exactly what to do because we both feel awkward posing for shots!" When we got our final shots, I was pleased to see some shots that we didn't even ask for, but was happy that Erin thought to do those shots (like posing our rings with our Pokemon stuffed animals!) Through all our photo sessions with Erin, we were both really happy with working with her. My advice to any prospective people reading this: Discuss your expectations with your photographer thoroughly, and you will walk away happy. Thanks so much, Erin! -

Erin is sunshine in human form; I simply cannot recommend her enough.
My husband and I worked with her to take four sets of photos: 1) a black & white indoor maternity shoot, 2) a park maternity shoot, 3) a lakeside maternity shoot with our dogs and 4) a golden hour beach maternity shoot.
The photos that Erin captured and edited for us were absolutely gorgeous. I’ve been looking at them non-stop since we received them.

Erin was an absolute highlight of our wedding journey. She is an incredibly talented photographer and her work continuously brought tears to our eyes. She perfectly captured the emotions of our events. We worked with Erin for 3 shoots - engagement photos, small COVID ceremony, and our actual wedding. For each, she diligently worked with us on the shot list and went above and beyond for our wedding day timeline - meeting with me multiple times to make sure everything was perfect. Her calm demeanor helped keep me grounded throughout a very stressful day and I will always be grateful for her. I cannot recommend Erin highly enough, and can't wait to work with her again in the future for our next family event :) -

Our AMAZING experience with Erin
Disclaimer: We are habitual procrastinators and this review is long overdue. It's also a bit long.
We found Erin after a long search through many different photographers. Her online portfolio was impressive, so we put her on the list for interviews. What we didn’t know just by looking at her online portfolio was just how fun, creative, and personable she was! That personality came through over the phone and after our interview, we were convinced she was the perfect fit for our big day. Although we had never met before, she made us feel like friends just catching up after not seeing each other after a long time, everything was easy and comfortable.
Erin was very prepared and on top of things, she asked for our shot list in advance and gave us examples so we’d know what to ask for. We were all ready to go, then COVID hit and derailed our original wedding plans. The plans were paused, then modified, then good to go. Through all the complications, Erin was responsive and flexible. She continuously reassured us, that this was OUR big day, and she would be there for us in any way we needed her. It was so reassuring during such an unknown time.
On our wedding day, Erin had a printed list of all the critical shots, making sure that she didn’t miss a single one of our requested shots. She also improvised and asked us to do other poses and combinations that turned out great and we didn’t even think of.
Erin did just the right amount of coaching to make sure everyone in the shots looked their best. She also did a great job capturing some of the best candid moments of the day. She managed to be in many places without us feeling like she was stepping into our space or interfering with the day.
For our “golden hour” photos, she had an assistant (her husband!) come and hold a reflector to ensure we were properly lit, and the photos came out looking so perfect! We are so in love with the finished product.
We highly recommend having Erin as your photographer. We liked her so much that we recommended her to our brother and she shot his wedding too. Even with a repeat performance, her professionalism and end product did not disappoint! She will now be our official family photographer for anything that we want to have memorialized. Most recently, she’s shot our sister’s maternity photos, and for a third time, she did not disappoint.

My husband and I cannot even begin to express how happy and lucky we were to have Erin as our photographer for both our engagement and wedding photos. She is a phenomenally talented photographer, an absolute professional, a great communicator, is all-around fun to be around, and was wonderfully flexible with our schedule and made us feel so comfortable and relaxed at all times.
On the wedding day, Erin was beyond prepared with her schedule and shot list, and worked seamlessly with all of our vendors. She even came to the hotel early to do extra detail shots that were simply amazing. Erin also has an amazing power -- she is such a calming presence yet also knows how to keep everyone on schedule! The fact that she was able to round up both of our extended families after the ceremony for photos, all in time for our golden hour shots, was just amazing! Adam, Erin’s second shooter, is also such a warm and friendly spirit and a talented photographer. Adam really encouraged my husband and the groomsmen to let their personalities shine which is captured perfectly in the photos. Erin and Adam make an incredible team!
I am beyond grateful for Erin’s reassurance and encouragement throughout the day. I’m usually camera shy, but I was able to completely feel beautiful, confident, and 100% myself -- and all of that showed in the photos! When we saw the wedding photos for the first time, our jaws literally dropped in absolute shock and awe by how beautiful the day was captured. Looking through each photo, we truly felt like we were reliving the wedding day moment by moment. We are forever grateful to Erin, and also to Adam, for supporting us on our wedding day and giving us the ability to relive that beautiful day over and over again.
I firmly believe that finding the right photographer who you absolutely trust and have a connection with makes all the difference for a wedding -- and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We’re so grateful to have a long-lasting relationship with Erin and are looking forward to ordering prints and creating an album. We 100% recommend her for your wedding! -

Amazing! Hire her!
Amazing, wonderful, awesome, there aren't enough adjectives to describe Erin.
She went above and beyond for us since our first consultation and is just an absolute joy to work with.
She captured our personalities perfectly through her photography and we're still getting comments on how perfect the photos came out.
We simply cannot recommend her as your wedding photographer - you will not regret it.
Second thoughts about hiring Erin as your photographer?
Let me tell you a story - about 2 months before our wedding while we were scouting the venue, Erin sat us down to tell us that she needed to undergo surgery. At this point, we considered Erin a friend rather than our wedding photographer and we were so worried for her. We would have gladly found another photographer and wouldn't have even asked for our initial deposit back, but before we could even address anything, with a warm smile, Erintold us not to worry that she had everything planned out and still had every intention of shooting our wedding, but asked if she could bring along some help.
Nevermind that she was undergoing surgery - she asked us if we were okay and apologized for having to undergo surgery. That's Erin in a nutshell - even when there's a pressing medical issue at hand, she puts you first.
We're so so so grateful to have had Erin as our wedding photographer and we can't thank her enough for all she's done. If you're still reading this, do yourself a favor and hire her already. -

I cannot recommend Erin enough!! She is an absolutely amazing photographer. My husband and I knew the moment we met Erin that we wanted to work with her. She has an amazing personality and is beyond kind!! She was quick to respond to our emails and questions.
Our engagement and wedding photos are amazing!! My husband and I both cried after seeing them. She was able to capture our personalities in our photos.
She took the time to walk the venue with us and give her opinion on what areas would give us the best photos. She was knowledgeable about picking out spots with the best lighting.

When finding a wedding photographer, my husband and I wanted to find someone who we felt comfortable with and who we appreciated their artistic eye for shots. I had contacted several photographers prior to Erin but none of their shots really impressed me. When meeting Erin for the first time in person we found she was the perfect fit! We felt immediately comfortable as she had such a sweet spirit, was very flexible, patient with all of our questions and explained her vision and process for photography. She took the time with us to scout out the location prior to both our engagement shoot and wedding day and she was a joy to have around on the day of the wedding. All of our friends and family said how beautiful both our engagement photos and wedding photos turned out! We are so impressed and are having a hard time picking our favorites because they are all so good! Erin is truly an artist and was calm and managed to capture the key shots in the midst of a truly packed wedding day photography schedule. Definitely would recommend! -

We loved working with Erin! She is calm and easy going, which is wonderful on a stressful wedding day. She did a great job making sure we got all the pictures we wanted and that we stayed on track with our timeline. She also took amazing pictures! I am generally not photogenic , but our engagement pictures and wedding pictures came out great. She gives helpful directions to get the best angle and lighting for the pictures, and also makes you feel comfortable with the process, so I did not have my usual frozen, deer in the headlights expression in the pictures. We're very happy we chose Erin. -

This review is long overdue. We had Erin take our engagement shoot and wedding. To say that hiring Erin was a great decision is such an understatement. As we were planning our wedding, everyone kept telling my now wife and me to make sure we get a good photographer. I didn’t know much about photography and thought pictures are pictures. The first couple of photographers seemed good enough, but then we met Erin, and now I get what people are talking about. Erin is so down to earth, always on time, and her work was amazing. I really appreciated how she was knowledgeable about lighting and just always seemed to take the right shot. Everyone was so impressed with the final product. The one thing that I truly appreciated about Erin is how we felt she truly cared about us and what we wanted. She never imposed her “artistic vision” as I have heard other photographers do, but worked with us to see what we wanted and executed it perfectly. Also, weddings can be so stressful, but Erin did everything to reduce the stress. I appreciated how well she worked with all our vendors. Also, she was very on point with the schedule and stayed on time (despite our ceremony going around 30 minutes later than scheduled). Every shot that we asked her to take (and we asked for quite a few) she was able to get. In addition, she caught some amazing moments that we did not even think about listing, which we greatly appreciated. She even was able to get difficult shots like getting all the guests to stand in front of the church and on the dance floor for group shots (and we had around 180 people). If you are considering Erin as your photographer, I would strongly suggest you don’t hesitate and hire her. -

Amazing experience
Oh my gosh, we got our photos back and they are GORGEOUS!!! Seriously, I cried all over again. Erin (and her second-shooter Adam) did such an incredible job capturing the feel and personality of our wedding. When I told Erin about a shot from Pride and Prejudice I wanted to do, Erin had even more ideas for other photos! She was so thoughtful and sweet and she really took the time to think about us as a couple and what we wanted to capture in our photos. We are raving to everyone we know. Jordan Sent on 10/02/2018We had consulted with quite a few photographers before meeting Erin, and once we did it was easy to see how professional, easygoing, and creative she was. We were immediately impressed by her photography style but were blown away at her ability to make us laugh and relax while taking pictures. When we were shooting our engagement photos it felt like just another one of our friends taking the photos.
On the day of the wedding Erin was able to control the crowd and take all the shots we had asked for. Our big day was perfect and Erin was able to capture all the beautiful little moments throughout the way. Her pictures were absolutely incredible and my wife and I couldn’t help but look at them all day long! Without a doubt we would recommend Erin to any of our good friends and we can’t say enough how satisfied we are with her work.

Jenny Sent on 09/05/2018Erin is really pleasant to work with and has a natural talent for photography! Since I dabble in photography myself, I’m really picky about photographers and this was the one area in our budget I was willing to spend more on but not necessarily a ton. Our wedding was indoors so I asked Erin early on to send samples of indoor shots. Not only was she willing to share lots of samples, she also took the time to meet with us before we decided to hire her. The final product took over two months but it was well worth the wait, as I’d rather she spend the time carefully editing rather than rushing the job. I also highly recommend doing the engagement photos as well, since this is an opportunity to get to know each other and figure out what poses work best when you are not in a rush. She also sent ahead a “shot list” template for the wedding day which I thought seemed obvious at first (e.g., bride walking down the aisle?) until I sat down and started filling it out, and realized that I wanted many off-the-beaten-path type shots (e.g., all of the food, all of the guests, etc.). I’m really glad I filled out the template because Erin really took the time to make sure we got everything on the list (in addition to the usual!) Our friends who got married around the same time hired other photographers for roughly half the cost and I honestly think they got what they paid for - there was a significant difference in the quality - in terms of composition, scope (very few of their 150 guests were captured), and sheer quantity (we had way more shots of our 4-hour wedding than they had of their 6-hour wedding). We also got to have full res digital downloads, which made it easier to print, share, and make photo books elsewhere (our friends’ photographers did not provide this). Added bonus is that Erin and Adam are really nice and easy to work with, making a stressful day less stressful! We are extremely pleased and would gladly hire Erin again and recommend her to our friends!

Upon our first meeting, we knew that she would be the one to make us look good in our photos and capture all the moments during our big day. Her enthusiasm reflects the quality of her work. The moment we told her about our expectations and ideas, she beamed at them and wanted to make sure that they were made possible. She is super organized and keeps in constant contact with you to make sure everything goes smoothly. Everything on our shot list was taken and even more that we didn't even think of. My only regret, and this is not on her but on us, is that we didn't have more on our shot list since she would have made it happen. She is great at directing and keeping us on time. Both of our families are huge, so getting them all organized for a photo is an achievement in itself. She was able to get them all together while keeping in mind our strict schedule since we didn't have much time due to another event that was going to occur at our church. Overall, our photos turned out fantastic and working with her was a pleasure! Definitely recommended!

Darius Sent on 10/08/2017Erin Shimazu was one of the first photographers who’s work my wife and I viewed – and there were many. For almost 3 months straight, we scanned the internet, chasing recommendations and searching for that perfect artist. No matter how many prospects we surveyed, each of us kept coming back to Erin as our favorite. In communicating with Erin prior to our special day, another thing my wife and I agreed on with respect to feedback was Erin’s pleasant disposition. On the surface, one may not find this important since you figure the camera is the primary tool for completing a photography job. Our thought process was a bit different in that we believed the subjects (people, in our case) would be the primary medium and an ability to interact and actually feel these subjects could only enhance the power to capture moments. My wife and I were nervous about many things as our wedding day approached. Erin’s ability to work her magic was not one of them.
May 21, 2017 came, and we were not disappointed. Erin and her crew arrived timely and immediately blended in. With exception to those shots we clearly asked for, Erin and her crew were careful not to make their presence known. When the work was all done and we viewed our 2000+ photos, my wife and I marveled not just at how many pictures were taken, but to our pleasant surprise - how many special moments were snapped without interfering in our special day. Thank you, Erin, for capturing memories that are as beautiful as the day they were made!!

We looked at so many portfolios on-line, received quotes from several photographers and narrowed it down to a few to meet with. Even before speaking with Erin, we fell in love with her photos. They were emotive and artistic, but not over-the-top; perfectly aligned with our vision for our celebration. She took time out of her schedule to personally meet with us for a consultation, listened to what memories we were hoping to capture on our special day and came up with some terrific ideas as well. She was reliable, on-time and flexible. She was also very sweet and easy to work with yet extremely confident in her abilities. The resulting photos are fantastic and there are so many! We are thrilled.
