My wife and I recently got married in Alexandria and as many of you are likely experiencing, planning a wedding can be a little stressful with lots of tricky decisions; but let me assure you, choosing Joan is not one of them.
We found Joan through an online search for DMV officiants and on reaching out to her, we were immediately impressed and at ease with her knowledge, demeanor and helpful nature. She met with us a couple of times over video call in the build up to the ceremony to ensure we got exactly what we were after. Understanding our particular needs she tailored a ceremony that was definitely us. She also provided useful information about the marriage process and what to expect in relation to the legal side of it. In addition she was great value for money.
On our wedding day Joan delivered a wonderfully special ceremony. It had a good mixture of humor, poignancy and was praised by our family and friends in attendance. I would absolutely recommend Joan for any would-be couple. -

My husband and I couldn't have been happier with our decision to hire Joan as our officiant. From the beginning she was super responsive and we felt like she took the time to really get to know us. She welcomed our decision to have a short but meaningful ceremony and helped us put something together that really felt right and represented who we are as a couple. On the day of everrything went smoothly and we had such a good expierence with here. We would recommend her to any couple! -

Joan was amazing to work with and was willing to make changes for us when we had to downsize and move our ceremony location due to COVID. Joan made the 3 hour trip from where we were originally supposed to get married to our new venue and we couldn't thank her enough for doing that for us. Joan will go above and beyond for her couples and is super helpful in the process of creating your ceremony script! I'm so thankful for Joan and would recommend her to any couple! -

Joan is such a wonderful and lovely person! She was very patient and understanding throughout the whole process: from our first consultant with her until the wedding day. Her professionalism and kindness really shined through when we had many hiccups on our wedding day, and really made us feel ready when we stood under the altar to get married by her.
Bonus: our puppy LOVES Joan, and he never likes to be close or asks for petting by anyone other than family! Joan sure has her magic in keeping everyone around her calm and collected, puppy included. :) -

My husband and I got married on Nov 7, 2020. We didn't really know much about wedding planning or the ceremony details, Joan made us feel much more at ease with putting everything together. Even though we planned everything virtually, she answered all of our questions, hopped on calls with us, and shared a lot of material with us so that we could get a better idea of what we wanted, the flow of the ceremony, and what worked for us. She also helped us write our vows and made sure the vows captured what we wanted to convey. She coordinated with our wedding planner as well to help us pull the day off, to include printing out our vows on beautiful paper which we'll definitely be keeping as memories of the day, and helping us move things along for the marriage license. -

Joan was such a pleasure to work with! After our phone consult she was able to get an idea of who we are as a couple, and built our ceremony script from that. My husband loved the suggestion of having a reading of ‘If I Fall Behind’ by Bruce Springsteen since he’s a big fan, and we never would’ve thought to do so ourselves! The ceremony ran so smoothly, and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. -

Joan officiated our legal wedding, and will be our officiant for our actual wedding post-pandemic. She made our 4 minute long legal ceremony feel as important as I would expect our full wedding ceremony to be. We'd recommend Joan, especially for couples looking to make adjustments due to COVID-19! -

Joan helped my husband and I first develop our glass blending ceremony, readings, and the format of our vows. When the virus caused us to redo our whole plan, Joan was super flexible and created a new reading for our micro-wedding! She was so great and helpful that we are going to work with her again next year for our wedding celebration/big wedding with all of our friends and family. I highly recommend her as she is a great communicator and very personable. -

Joan was a wonderful officiant for our wedding. We were happy to have her. She is a very warm and kind person and made my partner and I feel comfortable throughout the process. She was very organized and responsive leading up to the wedding. She helped pick great readings for our ceremony. Also, she reviewed and even printed out the vows we wrote on some custom card stock for the wedding which is a very nice touch!
I would 100% recommend her for your wedding! -

Joan did a fantastic job, she gave us examples of things we could do in our non traditional ceremony. She was able to give us great suggestions for readings. During the ceremony she spoke loud and clearly and it was just overall fantastic. We did a handfasting during our ceremony and she helped us through that process. -

Joan was the absolute perfect choice for our wedding ceremony! Not only is she very professional and responsive, but her personality is so warm and friendly and puts you right at ease. She helped us create the perfect ceremony with just the right personal touches. We got so many compliments on our ceremony, and also heard many comments about how beautifully Joan spoke. She has a very calming way of speaking which definitely added to the ceremony as well. It was an all around pleasure to work with Joan. Our photographer recommended Joan as our officiant. And she truly saved the day! We were not sure if we were going to be able to find someone to marry us in time. We had a phone interview with her and she just exuded warmth. We were 100% sold on our choice. We had a rehearsal and Joan gave us suggestions and the day of....really made the ceremony. I get teary thinking about it. Her calm demeanor and the way she conducted the ceremony helped to make it as romantic and sweet as it was. We will forever remember her. Thank you Joan! I cannot express enough how great she was, from all the planning to the final day she made our wedding ceremony perfect. She knew what to do so it was special to us and the ceremony was catered to who we are as a couple. She also was available whenever we needed her always answering all emails calls can even though we scheduled a last-minute. I would definitely recommend her to anyone who's getting married. She also understood things we didn't want in our wedding it was very accepting of everything we did not want on our way with our views following any and all directions that we had thank you so much. -

Joan provided great advice and helped us craft every bit of our wedding ceremony to make it perfectly personalized. Meetings over zoom still allowed us to accomplish everything we needed, and Joan remained flexible to meet with us whenever we felt that we needed to. We never felt pressured to make our day more "formal" or "traditional". Joan was able to keep all of our guests engaged in the moment and even help with some on-site coordination before the ceremony.
