  outstanding, 5 stars, life long friends

  Emily & James are the most incredible human beings. They are kind, passionate, caring, down to earth, enthusiastic, sweetest, organized and phenomenal at taking pictures.  I found Emily’s Instagram from countless hours of searching social media for venues/ vendors at mountainous locations in Virginia. We are from New Jersey so I deeply relied on social media for all things in the wedding planning process. I was looking for light and airy, natural, timeless photographs. I noticed Emily’s pictures, and reels from the venue’s Instagram we were originally going to get married at, Glass Hill, in Goode, VA. I will say before I sent my inquiry, I was very close to signing another contract with a different photographer, you can call it fate that I found Emily & James at the right time. The first impressions I experienced between that photographer and Emily & James were insanely different. I spoke on the phone with the other photographer briefly for 15 minutes and didn’t receive a warm, approachable personality like I did with Emily & James. On Emily’s website for inquiry it said to tell your story so I sent her a long paragraph about how my husband and I met, things we overcame as a couple, and the story of our proposal. Not long after I sent our inquiry on her website, I received a video message of Emily (and a little of James) genuine excitement about our relationship and wanting to work with us. I knew from that one video she was amazing, kind, and bubbly but when we had our initial FaceTime conversation to go over prices, packaging and just wedding stuff in general (that lasted almost 2 hours) I knew they were our photographers. Emily & James made us feel so comfortable instantly and it felt like we were longtime friends from one call.
  James and Doug were the same person (calm, cool & collected), Emily and I were the same person(energetic, bubbly, witty) it was meant to be!
  Doug & I booked with Emily & James the next day with no hesitation. A week after we signed our contract we received cookies and a 100 page wedding guide from Emily & James in the mail. These details really made us feel special and their efforts did not go unnoticed.
  The greatest joy was meeting Emily and James in person at our engagement session. Doug & I needed to change our wedding location since we moved to Miami, Florida. We asked Emily & James if they would do a destination wedding in Miami and without hesitation they replied yes.
  Emily and James knew that we wanted pictures with the mountain views so they suggested Doug and I take a trip up to Virginia for a weekend and do our engagement pictures at the venue we originally booked, Glass Hill. Well not only did we get to go there we also went to a few other mountainous locations that Emily and James recommended for fall foliage pictures that we so deeply missed being in Florida. We learned how to pose in front of the camera from Emily and James’ directions. Doug does not like his pictures taken and his words were “that was actually fun!” Emily and James showed us sneak peaks of our engagement pictures the next morning and then we received our full gallery a week later! The pictures were BEAUTIFUL!!
  During wedding planning, I had a very close relationship with Emily. She was someone I texted/ facetimed with wedding questions, ideas I had, sneak peaks of hair, make up, and dress pictures. Emily always had the most reassuring, encouraging, genuine and hype me up responses to anything I sent her. She alleviated any stress I had and was my biggest cheerleader! Emily was the best bonus bridesmaid!
  During our wedding week, Emily and James displayed professionalism, hardworking, organized, personable characteristics. Emily and James traveled to Miami 3 days prior to the wedding. They wanted to make sure themselves and their gear were here and ready to go with no problem. Emily and James attended our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner where they were able to take pictures of our venue, and spot potential portrait locations.
  On our wedding day, Emily and James were grounded and took control of the day to make sure we followed the timeline they created to ensure we got all the pictures we wanted and the day went as smooth as possible. We took A LOT of pictures but Emily & James made the process fun. We shared a lot of genuine laughs which made the pictures look natural and effortless. Doug & I felt comfortable & confident to pose in front of the camera because of our engagement session. It also helped that Emily &. James would compliment us and tell us things like “oh my gosh, you guys look so good, I love this!” & made us feel like models.
  Emily & James edited 12 sneak peek photos to show us before the reception. Not only did they show us but they showed our guests by displaying it on an iPad at the bar. Our guests were surprised & RAVING about how beautiful the pictures were! One week after our wedding, Emily & James created a blog & sent us about 150 edited pictures. The pictures that we received are absolutely stunning, and truly captured the happiness & love that Doug & I share with each other. I can’t stop looking at them. I will cherish the pictures and memories from that day forever.
  I believe everything happens for a reason, and although we didn’t have our dream mountain wedding in Virginia, we were meant to meet Emily & James.
  We loved working with them from beginning to end and so grateful for this wedding journey to bring us 2 new lifelong friends.

  We LOVE Emily!!

  Emily & James are the BEST. I truly could not have asked for better wedding photographers and will treasure my photos for the rest of my life. My husband and I have never really been photo people and have never worked with professionals in any capacity, so we were a bit nervous for our wedding photos! Emily and James put us right at ease from the first time we chatted on FaceTime and all the way through our wedding day. We bonded over similar interests and were looking for a photography style that felt natural and elevated without being too “stuffy” to match our wedding theme, and they perfectly exemplify that! They are such kind, talented, and empathetic individuals that you can’t help but feel comforted by them behind the lens! They made everything a breeeze, from our first look photos (highly recommend) to family formals and newlywed pictures. From the beginning, Emily provided us with a 100+ page bridal guide that gave us SO much information and helped us make a lot of our photography oriented wedding decisions. It was truly above and beyond anything that any other photographers would have done! One of the super special things about having both Emily and James photograph the wedding was that my husband had a designated person and photographer with him while he was getting ready. So often the groom gets left out on the wedding day, but not with Emily! He felt included and valued, and it was awesome to get all the bridal party photos done so early. As a surprise, they even had sneak peeks ready for us on the dance floor the night of - I was stunned and thrilled! It was so special to see pictures from the day of only a few hours later. We absolutely loved working with them and the value is fantastic - pictures are the only thing you take away from your wedding day and we could not be more thrilled with ours!

  So Much More Than Great Photographers

  When you hire Emily and James, you get so much more than a couple great photographers. After an engagement shoot with a different photographer, we realized we needed a team that prioritized getting to know and communicating with their clients. Fortunately we had seen Emily and James in action at our friend’s wedding and remembered being impressed by both their work flow, how quickly and easily they shared pictures with guests, and the final product that our friends shared with us. Emily offers a wealth of knowledge when it comes to planning your wedding, organization and well timed planning goals to keep everything and everyone on track. We didn’t have to worry if vendors would be on the same page because Emily made sure that they were. It was okay that we didn’t know how to express our vision because Emily knew which questions to ask and when. She put her all into our wedding, leaving nothing unaddressed. We chose Emily and James because we wanted authentic pictures, and with them we could be ourselves. Our favorite parts of the planning process were the detailed yet casual video calls, questionnaires, and their willingness to travel for our engagement shoot. These were the perfect ways to get to know each other and confirm that we would vibe well on wedding day. Our wedding day was everything we wanted, and Emily and James played an essential role to this. They captured everyone and every moment beautifully and offered a calming presence in a day that can be wonderful and chaotic all at once. Emily literally removed stress from our wedding day by both being so exceptionally organized and thorough leading up to the wedding and handling complications like a true professional so that we didn’t feel overwhelmed or burdened on our big day. We can honestly not imagine planning or celebrating our wedding without Emily and James. Because of this, we plan on keeping in touch for future photoshoots!

Neither of us were comfortable getting our pictures taken, but this dynamic duo made us feel so comfortable. We opted to do “first look” photos, recommended to us by Emily and James. So glad we did, it allowed us to more time to enjoy our day with our guests. We can not say enough great things about these two!

  Spectacular!

  Emily and James are a joy to work with! While they are extremely professional, they are also kind and friendly AND extremely calm and cool even when there are weather related issues that change everything! I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone that wants beautiful photos and amazingly wonderful photographers!!

  You HAVE to use Emily & James!!

  There are no words I could ever write to express my gratitude for Emily & James, no review or photos could ever compile all my singing graces and compliments of them! As a wedding vendor, I work with tons of photographers— I met Emily a few years ago at a mutual wedding and might I say it was love at first sight. When I got engaged, I knew immediately I had to inquire with Emily, I actually inquired before I was even engaged! Emily and James have been nothing short of amazing and have beautifully captured already so many huge life events for us including our wedding day! Emily and James captured our engagement session last year, then offered us another session since we ran out of daylight and we used that for another set of engagement photos & maternity announcement photos before the wedding! They also captured our rehearsal dinner and big day, of course! Before our wedding reception was over, we already had photos in our inbox and on display for our guests to see! It was a wonderful touch! As if that wasn’t amazing enough, while on our honeymoon we received over 200 wedding photos just a week later and then our full gallery of over 1200 images less than a month after our wedding. No one else compares to the quality, professionalism and attentiveness that you get with Emily Hancock Photography! They are a MUST have!

  If your husband is anything like mine, then asking him to smile for a picture is equivalent to asking him to take me to Starbucks or on a Tjmaxx run, which as you can probably relate is not on his fun things to do “list”. However, Emily and James made both our engagement photo shoot and our wedding day (which was during Hurricane Ian by the way) more fun than we could’ve ever imagined! I can truly say that we enjoyed every moment that we had with them. They’re personalities are one of a kind and they make you feel so comfortable in your own skin! Not to mention, they know all of the right poses and will “coach” you the whole way. My wedding day really was a dream come true and Emily and James captured every small detail, so that we get to relive our perfect day over and over again. They’re hands down the BEST photographers out there!!! If you’re looking for stunning photos and looking to have a good time with minimal stress while taking them, then your search is over!! Emily and James will make all of your wedding day dreams come true with the most perfect photos that will last a lifetime!!❤️

  Worlds Best Photographers

  Emily and James are two of the kindest and most genuine people you will ever meet. My husband and I used Emily and James as our wedding photographer and would choose them over again in a heartbeat!!! Emily and James were always so accommodating to our needs and wants and were very focused on the mine and Cody’s vision and making our day perfect. Emily and James made so many of my photography dreams come true!! They traveled all the way from Va to Charleston SC just so Cody and I could have a special engagement session where our engagement began. Throughout my entire wedding planning process I knew Emily was always a text, phone call, or FaceTime away if I ever needed anything..even if it wasn’t photography related. Come wedding day we unfortunately had some rain and colder weather but with Emily and James being so relaxed and prepared for anything it honestly made me feel so at ease and they were still able to capture the most magical pictures!!!
  Seriously Emily and James are the best and I would recommend them to anyone without a doubt! My mom is still talking about kind Emily and James were and how amazing our wedding photos turned out. We could not be more grateful for these amazing photographers ❤️

  Absolutely above and beyond

  Emily and James are truly one of a kind. I love pictures and have imagined wedding photos all over my house since the moment I was old enough to know, my fiancé on the other hand hates having to take photo pictures. Emily and James made things easy for even the guys who hate taking photos. Emily was my go to for ALL things wedding. To say she was just my photographer would be an understatement. I love that James and Emily are a team, most photographers would charge extra make you pay extra for 2 photographers, but that is not the case. On wedding day the groomsmen had their own photographer, as well as the bridesmaids. There was not a missed moment. Whether you are photogenic, or not, Emily and James truly preform miracles. I love how quickly they CRANK out your photos. I think this is one of their super powers as well! I’m so glad Emily has opened her photography skills to more than just weddings because I truly cannot imagine anyone else taking my family photos.

  Incredible Photographers That Make You Feel So Special On Your Wedding Day!

  We were so blessed to have Emily and James as our photographers! I wanted to hire them ever since I saw their photos from our best man's wedding (which were gorgeous) and Emily was so personable. She remembered my now-husband (the best man at the previous wedding) and spoke to me like an old friend. It felt like fate that our date was available. I IMMEDIATELY booked. Like I said, they treat you like friends more than clients. Emily is ready to answer any questions you have as well as deflate any stress you may feel. My now-husband and I are so awkward when posing for pictures but Emily and James knew exactly how to loosen and HYPE us up. She was also super sweet to me when I opened up to her about being insecure a few days before the wedding...and then made me feel BEAUTIFUL on my wedding day. I can't thank her enough for that. I may be biased, but my husband, the alleged awkward poser, looked like a GQ model in his solo photos. Thank you very much to James for those ;) and for the silly ones with his groomsmen (and thank you for not telling me they threw him in the air until after the ceremony lol). They encourage these funny photos and get creative with the location. I had a lot of fun with them, especially when Emily had my bridesmaids and I participate in a tik tok that was REPOSTED BY AZAZIE! I fangirled and will forever thank her for my 5 minutes of fame haha Also amazing job at making sure we got our solo & bridal party photos in without us seeing each other. They legit stood out in the rain to get the perfect shots of us while we were safe under the roof of the venue's porch. I promise we didn't ask them to! They just do these things to go the extra mile for their couples. Try to stop them all you want, but they are dedicated to their craft. Our schedule was a bit tight due to delays from rain and they were still able to fit enough time for pictures. They are very organized to the point that you can just relax as they direct you around. After making so many decisions in the planning, I was very thankful to them for taking over the photo coordination. Our photos are gorgeous and they really captured the overall magic of the day! I especially love our fun and goofy reception photos. They'll spoil you with the number of photos you receive in your album. I posted far too many on Facebook because I couldn't pick favorites haha I could keep going on and on but I'll just end this with me HIGHLY recommending this couple to capture your special day. They're not just your photographers, but your amazing support team behind the scenes! 5 stars is not enough!

  Hire her for your wedding, seriously.

  She was hands down my easiest vender. I loved working with her as she was professional, sweet, and made our wedding photos look amazing. I had a situation where my flower person backed out last minute and she and her husband offered to go get flowers for me. It ended up working out but what other photographer would do that?Her and her husband do great work and we will be sure to work with them again in the future!

They are careful planners to make sure your day runs smoothly with photos, they are fun, and they make being photographed feel natural. The photos that you get are simply stunning. My husband and I spent a long time researching wedding photographers because we knew that having high quality photos was incredibly important to us so that we could remember the highlights of the wedding long after it was over. We saw Emily on Wedding Wire and loved the bright, airy, natural look of her photos and decided to reach out to inquire about her services. After that first FaceTime call, my husband and I decided to book Emily and James and it was hands down the best decision we made in the entire wedding planning process.
  
  From the beginning to the end, Emily was incredibly responsive to all emails, texts, and calls. She was always willing to answer any questions, provide advice and suggestions, or just chat about wedding planning or life in general :) She and James are also the best people you will ever meet- they are so thoughtful, down to earth, and easy to get along with. Emily even sent us a care package with personalized cookies and a book with wedding planning tips and recommendations for vendors!
  
  Most importantly, Emily and James take the most stunning, natural photos. They know all the tricks with lighting, posing, and details and make sessions feel incredibly comfortable and fun. They are very organized and stay on top of the timeline and ensure that they take photos of all of the details and extra things that you want. Furthermore, they managed to send us ALL 1500 EDITED PHOTOS from our wedding in only TWO WEEKS!!! I was completely astonished at the turnaround time and their ability to give us such high quality, stunning photos in such a short time... my jaw dropped when I saw the email containing the full gallery that quickly!
  
  The bottom line: When you book Emily and James, you’re not just booking another wedding vendor who is in it for the money/job.   If you are looking for quality photos from a quality couple, look no further! Emily and James are so incredible to work with. They did our engagement photos and our wedding photos and I am IN LOVE. They are very accommodating to any situation. My now husband is in the military and they worked around his leave schedule to make sure we had everything we needed. One of the meetings Emily and I had at the coffee shop ended up being 4+ hours because we talked about life and changes the world was going through. We came as business colleagues but talked like old friends. Emily and James worked so well with my vendors and that was very special. Emily is the ULTIMATE hype girl. She can get smiles and laughs out of anyone. She is so fun! We told her that I like America's Next Top model because of Tyra Banks and she INCORPORATED a fun model shot with my bride's maids.   If you are looking for quality photos from a quality couple, look no further! Emily and James are so incredible to work with. They did our engagement photos and our wedding photos and I am IN LOVE. They are very accommodating to any situation. My now husband is in the military and they worked around his leave schedule to make sure we had everything we needed. One of the meetings Emily and I had at the coffee shop ended up being 4+ hours because we talked about life and changes the world was going through. We came as business colleagues but talked like old friends. Emily and James worked so well with my vendors and that was very special. Emily is the ULTIMATE hype girl. She can get smiles and laughs out of anyone. She is so fun! We told her that I like America's Next Top model because of Tyra Banks and she INCORPORATED a fun model shot with my bride's maids. It was truly so special. She listens to your wants and needs and helps to show them through her photos. I am truly blessed that I found them and will recommend 1000000 times over :)

  All I can say about this husband and wife team is Amazing!!! I not only got beautiful pictures from them but friends for a lifetime.   Emily and James were wonderful to work with! They were enthusiastic, on top of the schedule, and so much fun! Emily helped me with my veil, helped get my videographers in the right places, calmed my nerves, and even recorded a tic toc of me and my girls! James did awesome with the guys and to have a wife-husband team was so fun to work with. They finished our pictures so quickly and even showed us some sneak peaks AT THE RECEPTION. I am so beyond pleased with our pictures and had so many people compliment Emily and James on a job well done. Not only did they execute our pictures, but were so personal and even stayed to help clean up afterwards. You cannot go wrong with Emily Hancock photography!!!

  We couldn't have asked for better photographers. Emily and James provided an enjoyable and professional experience for our engagement, bridal and wedding photos. We're both camera shy but they made us feel right at home and perfectly captured our special day. They are extremely detail oriented and flexible with the everchanging events of a wedding day.
