Katie and Miguel from Elegance and Simplicity exceeded all our expectations with their floral arrangements and wedding design. The flowers were stunning, and Katie helped us capture the essence of our vision. On the day of the wedding, Miguel and Chrishaun were on-site to efficiently manage the setup and breakdown of all decorations. Chrishaun, our day-of coordinator, was an absolute gem. She was always available to assist us. Chrishaun helped to draft a detailed timeline, provided great ideas for our rehearsal, and executed everything flawlessly on our wedding day. Her dedication ensured that our day flowed seamlessly, and we couldn't be more grateful. Thank you, Elegance and Simplicity, for making our wedding day truly beautiful and everything we imagined it to be. -

Elegance & Simplicity were so great to work with! We hired them to help with string lighting at our venue and the lights were stunning, and made the backyard of the venue sparkle. We would happily work with them again. -

Beautiful flowers and amazing experience!
Katie was amazing to work with. Right from the start, she understood our vision. We had a smaller budget to work with, and she was very helpful in determining what we could include while being mindful of the budget. The flowers themselves were stunning. I got so many compliments on the bouquet. The additional ceremony decor and centerpieces were also lovely. She was professional and easy to work with. Would highly recommend! -

6/23/23 Wedding at The Toolbox in Dupont Circle
Katie and her team at Elegance and Simplicity were absolutely fantastic. From the moment I zoomed with Katie about our wedding, I felt confident she would execute magically. I went into the call very unsure and indecisive, but she really helped me bring the vision together. I also appreciated how she wasn't pushy at all, but still showed me all sorts of options that would help elevate the space. Even with how busy she is, she never left me in the dark or went days without responding to my silly emails. Katie was willing to help wherever she could and did it with a smile on her face. The flowers AND décor (amazing vintage glassware and various misc items) were so pretty and I received so many compliments. I also love how you can see how much she enjoys her job and works effortlessly to make her clients happy. Katie is honest, friendly, and a breath of fresh air. I hope to have a reason to work with her and her team again! I highly recommend using her services for your next wedding or special event :)

We had the pleasure of working with Katie from Elegance & Simplicity for our wedding, and we cannot recommend her highly enough! Katie did an incredible job with our chuppah and floral design, capturing the essence of our theme while also exceeding our expectations.
Not only was Katie punctual and always quick to respond to our inquiries, but she was also extremely amenable to our changes in the floral design later in the process.

... was perfectly handled by Katie and her team! Her experience with Hindu and Jewish weddings allowed her to provide support to our Hindu-Jewish ceremony without complication. She had the cultural vocabulary and knowledge needed to make us feel supported and respected, and she did a great job of balancing keeping our vendors on time with calling audibles when needed. She was also super thoughtful throughout the day, getting us food and water and other necessities without us having to ask for them. She also ensured we had a few minutes of private time as a couple immediate after the ceremony and before the reception! We really appreciated that she lent us some of her personal items to help round out our decor look, like frames for the signature cocktails. She also knew when to take artist liberty with certain decisions vs. coming to us to check, and I felt like she checked on us as the couple just the right amount on our wedding day. We're so grateful for Katie! -

Absolutely Magical!! Couldn't recommend enough!
Katie and her team created absolutely magical flower arrangements and decor for our Indian fusion wedding. She listened to our ideas and created something more gorgeous than we could have imagined. We have received so many complements from both sides of the family and our photos look incredible. Katie was very flexible and responsive to our budget and needs. We couldn't be happier!! -

Katie and her husband did an amazing job in creating a mandap for our wedding and decorating it with florals. She was able to navigate the craziness around the flower supply chain and still able to deliver amazing decor elements and centerpieces. Her husband who is a craftsman was able to custom make a stage for the wedding. They were able to be very timely in construction and deconstruction, which often are key elements considering total venue time. Would recommend to anyone in the greater DC area! -

As we sat and planned our wedding, I knew I wanted one thing that was very important for me for our day: amazing florals! My sister came across Elegance & Simplicity and I reached out to Katie via email. She was very responsive and we set up a Zoom call in order to chat about the vision for the day.
We fell in to easy conversation, she was very straightforward and transparent with everything we discussed, and from there it was a no brainer for me. After agreeing to work together, everything else just fell in to place! I truly appreciated her professional opinion and complete transparency - she isn't in it to dupe you or trick you or even take advantage of you in any way; she simply would like to make your dreams come true in the best way possible and that's exactly what she did for us. We even had to change certain design elements as our guest list grew in light of successful COVID vaccinations and Katie was so helpful in recommending design elements to facilitate the changes while staying true to my wishes. I can't thank her enough for all of her efforts and for her honesty in saving us money and keeping us as close to our budget as possible while still delivering breathtaking florals. It was really the best!
If you are looking for honesty, quality, professionalism, and delivery you've come to the right place. I highly recommend Katie! -

I absolutely loved the flowers we got from Elegance and Simplicity for our wedding. Katie was super responsive and worked with us to re-plan our flowers after we had to postpone our wedding. She delivered them to two locations the morning of our wedding and worked with me to push up the timeline when we realized we had to leave earlier than expected to avoid road closures. We got so many compliments on the flowers, and my bouquet looks stunning in every photo! -

Fantastic, personal and professional
Katie was professional, direct and extremely knowledgable from the get-go. She gave me confidence, support and a ton of confidence about staying true to my instincts for the design and floral arrangements. She listened to me and to my partner with sensitivity and care, even when we were less than articulate about what we envisioned. She created a beautiful design for flowers and the event that felt just like us - true to our personalities and style. She's also a lovely person. When our big wedding was cancelled due to COVID, she put together a much smaller but still gorgeous set of arrangements, and worked with me to create something that still felt special despite difficult circumstances. No matter what, Katie really cares about making your wedding a perfect day. Recommend highly and grateful for everything that she and her team did for us! -

We worked with Elegance & Simplicity for day-of coordination, florals, lighting, and decor. It was the best decision throughout our wedding process! Jazmin was our coordinator and went above and beyond leading up to the event and on the day of our wedding. We had issues with another vendor, but thanks to Jazmin, Chrishaun, and Katie, we weren’t aware and the day went smoothly. The flowers were beautiful and everything we dreamed of. Katie and her team are the very best!! -

We hired E&S to do all of our wedding florals. We went to her a bit last minute (less than 4 months out) and she was able to accommodate us and help us stay within our budget. I'm so glad we hired Katie. Her work is beautiful, but she is also a wonderful person. Whenever I talk to someone who was at my wedding, the first thing they say is how beautiful the flowers were. My bouquet was so unique, and she was able to perfectly capture the vibe we were looking for. She made recommendations for the centerpieces based on the fact that we were serving dinner family style. She is so creative and we were so happy we had the chance to work with her. I wish we could get married again just so I could have another reason to be surrounded by so many beautiful arrangements. -

Anne Sent on 07/13/2018Elegance and simplicity was recommended by our venue, Woodend Sanctuary, for their stunning bistro lighting service, which looked absolutely amazing and made so much of a difference in the photos and general ambiance. Pretty late in the game, we also contacted them to rent our wedding arch, and they were incredibly accommodating in getting the arch to us, even though they had other deliveries booked that day. Their rentals were beautiful and they were so professional. Highly recommended! -
Elizabeth Sent on 06/14/2018Chrishaun and Katie were absolutely fantastic throughout wedding planning and on the wedding day. They went above and beyond to give us the wedding of our dreams. The Elegance & Simplicity team knows their stuff (and the market), and holds great relationships with vendors across the industry so that they can provide top recommendations best suited for your style and budget.
Another plus? Elegance & Simplicity also provides floral and lighting services - and they're the only vendor allowed to provide bistro lighting at our venue (Woodend Nature Sanctuary). We had Katie do our florals and lighting for the wedding, and I've never seen such beautiful arrangements in my life. I felt so supported throughout the entire wedding process.
On the day of our wedding, it rained up to twenty minutes before the ceremony. Katie, Chrishaun, and our caterers ventured down to the outdoor space (where we were to be married) with push brooms and a leaf blower, paving the way for my husband and I to get married in the outdoor grove (something that really meant a lot to us). Chrishaun was there with me every step of the way, and I'm so grateful for how perfect our wedding turned out to be. Highly recommend - you'll be happy you went with this crew!

Right after the wedding, we replanted the succulents that were included in our bouquets so they live on and remind us everyday of our wedding!

Lori Sent on 07/23/2015Katie did such a fantastic job with our flowers. She was very cognizant of working within our budget, and made lots of suggestions on how to get the look we wanted for less. It was clear she was very knowledgeable about all things flowers, and when I showed her my out-of-season dream bouquet that I found on Pinterest (of course), she knew exactly how to replicate the look with in-season flowers within our budget. When I finally saw my bouquet, I was blown away- it was the most beautiful bouquet I'd ever seen! So. Many. Compliments. And of course, the cake flowers, boutonnieres, bridesmaid bouquets, and table decorations were perfect. I also really appreciate that she is a green/eco-friendly business. I'd book her again in a heartbeat! -

Katie patiently went through the floral needs/process with us several months from our wedding, and was incredibly patient when we changed/edited most of those needs/ideas a month or two out from the wedding. Katie was upfront about costs, honest about ways to stay within budget (what should stay, what should go, and what I could adjust), and found creative ways for us to stay within our budget (i.e. reusing the bridesmaid bouquets as a part of some of the table centerpieces). Katie was willing to go above and beyond to make our vision for our ceremony trellis a reality, which was able to be repurposed, in part, for the reception (a helpful way to get the most out of what you pay for!) The bridal bouquet and bridesmaid bouquets were so beautiful and striking, and I received a lot of compliments on all of the floral arrangements and decor. If you want a vendor that will give you their best and do so with a smile and genuine happiness to serve you on the most important day of your life, look no further than Elegance & Simplicity! -

Hillary Sent on 08/07/2012Maybe I am biased (strike that - I know I am) but I think I had the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen at a wedding thanks to Katie.
Not that everything in wedding planning isn't daunting, but spending hours googling wedding flower arrangements was making me batty. I decided to just give up the quest for the perfect on-line find and hire a professional. I met with Katie, gave her a general idea of what I was looking for along with a few of my google's, and what she came up with was spectacular. My bouquet was so beautiful that I didn't want to put it down to eat! The arrangements at the church as well as the reception were also a wonderful mix of traditional and modern that my guests couldn't stop raving about them!
Katie's company also did the lighting for my reception and I thought the whole ambiance was lovley.
I would recommend Elegance & Simplicity without hesitation. Thank you Katie! -

Katie Martin has been doing this for a long time and it really shows. She is very careful not to overpromise--being candid about the seasonality of different flowers, giving me lots of options. But I couldn't be happier with the decorations. We had a Hindu-Jewish hybrid wedding, and I wanted to make it respectful of both traditions and very colorful and bright. She immediately understood what I was going for. I'm obsessed with my bridal bouquet, and the chuppah/mandap was a real highlight for me. No detail--even the fresh jasmine for my hair--was too small for Katie. She also recommended our wedding for Bethesda Magazine, where it will be featured, which is pretty cool! Would definitely recommend! -

Love this team
I worked with Katie and her team extensively for my wedding - Katie coordinated the caterer and did all the florals, which were GORGEOUS. I was obsessed with my bouquet and all the centerpieces - I had given her some pinterest ideas but wasn't sure what everything would look like when it came together - I was honestly blown away when I walked into the dining area for the first time that night. It was just so beautiful. She's also the only vendor who's allowed to do bistro lighting at Woodend Sanctuary, so we opted for that as well, and it looked sooooo pretty. Katie really made me feel taken care of through the whole process - unfortunately we had a whole blow-up with the caterer when they filed for bankruptcy a few weeks before my wedding, but she was reassuring and took care of everything - and it all went off without a hitch, seriously. I also have to give a MAJOR shout-out to Chrishaun, who was our day-of coordinator. She. Was. Amazing. Seriously - my entire family FELL IN LOVE with Chrishaun. She anticipated every need before it existed - she is just so, so good at her job. Can't recommend this team strongly enough. -

The last thing you want to do is stress about the small and big details on your special day and Katie made sure we didn't have to. She helped put on some great finishing touches with our venue and made everything really nice.
