The Best Officiant!
We had such a wonderful experience with Don Gloud as our wedding officiant! From the very beginning, Don was incredibly responsive and organized, which made the entire planning process smooth and stress-free. His professionalism and warmth truly stood out.
His wife and assistant, Dodie, was equally amazing. She has an incredible eye for detail and made sure everything was perfectly arranged for our special day—even down to coordinating Don’s tie with our wedding colors, which was such a thoughtful touch!
Don himself was so kind and genuine, and he performed a ceremony that was deeply meaningful and personal to us. One of my favorite things was his speaking voice—it was calm, engaging, and added such a special touch to the ceremony.
We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant team. Highly recommend Don and Dodie to anyone looking to make their wedding day truly unforgettable!

Tobin exceeded all of our expectations!
Tobin beyond exceeded our expectations for our ceremony. It was so beautiful, personal, and brought tears of love and joy to our eyes throughout the ceremony. He was so helpful at the rehearsal and making sure everything ran smoothly. We had incredible feedback from our guests. His surprise elements throughout the ceremony were amazing and we seriously couldn’t be more grateful for him and the effort he put into the best day of our lives!

Amazing officiant for Hood River wedding
Ernie was an excellent officiant for our wedding in Hood River. Well before the wedding he gave us a lot of information about writing vows, reading during the ceremony, and other important info we felt we would have lacked if we had a friend officiate (which we considered). While meeting with him, he got to know us and crafted a ceremony about us. We got many comments afterwards about how much our friends and family loved what he had to say. No problems communicating and very punctual, would definetly recommend Ernie to anyone!

From the very beginning, their communication was great. We initially worked with Ernie to find an officiant that best fit us and our wedding. He answered all our questions and sent over a ton of resources to help us find the ceremony that worked for us.
Don Gloud was our officiant and he was amazing! We received so many compliments from our guests on how well he led the ceremony. Don and his wife Dodie sent us a pre-wedding checklist to make sure we got our marriage license on time and all the little details were taken care of. After the ceremony they instructed us on how to complete the license and took care of mailing it in for us. They made the whole process so easy.

We loved EC Matrimony & Don Gloud!
We used EC Matrimony for our wedding October 2024 and were incredibly pleased with everything! Services were very affordable. Ernie was extremely helpful in getting us setup. Our officiant, Don Gloud, took over from there and he was absolutely wonderful. Don met with us in-person at his church and offered pre + post marital counseling if needed. Not to mention, Don’s wife Dodie was also really helpful and wonderful to be around. We are suggesting them to anyone we know who needs an officiant or is looking for a church community to be a part of (:
We are non-religious and EC Matrimony + Don fit our every need. I am soooo glad we decided to go with them for our big day. Both our families loved Don & Dodie so much ♥️
Pro tip: if you want them to be able to be at your wedding for the reception, book way in advance! We dropped the ball on this and they weren’t able to stay and celebrate (everyone wanted them stay 🥲) !

John was Amazing!!!
John officiated our wedding in October and he was super amazing! He met with us before so we could go over what we wanted, took the time to listen and draft up two options of ceremony and was willing to tweak it and work with our schedule. He was super kind and even matched his outfit to the Wedding. EC Matrimony is filled with amazing people for an even more amazing price. We truly couldn’t have been more happy with our choice. I don’t really have photos of John yet back from our photographer because he stepped out of the way for photos to be taken for the ones I’ve gotten back so far.

Ernie the Handfaster
Ernie officiated our marriage ceremony on September 1, 2022, and he was incredible to work with.
First, he was very communicative via email and text. He took the time to discuss our wedding over the phone, educating us on different nuances, like handfasting, and walked us through what to expect on the big day step by step.
He also prepared a wedding script for us to follow during the ceremony and sent it to us in advance.
Lastly, he was open to our suggestions about the wedding location (the beautiful Jenkins Estate) and arrived there on time.
Even though it was a small reception, Ernie, being a popular choice in the area, still agreed to participate and made us feel well cared for.
We wholeheartedly recommend hiring Ernie for your wedding, big or small. His attention to detail and exceptional oratory skills will undoubtedly make your day even more special.

Our officiant Ernie was outstanding! To put it simply, he had more information to actually help us through our process of getting and returning the marriage license and information about the area/location than our actual wedding planner did. He made everything feel less stressful and when we had a question, he always responded with information that was helpful to us. Fantastic Officiant Alert!
I cannot express how much our guests enjoyed our wedding. Everyone said our ceremony was beautiful, sweet, and "definitely (us).'
Thank you for the delightful ceremony, for being so personable and easygoing, and for the great selections/sentiments you chose for us.
I felt the ceremony was the perfect length- long enough to take it all in, to reflect, to connect with my sweetheart and not so long that my back injury got angry.
...Ernie had great communication with us and took ample time to get to know us and learn our preferences for our ceremony. He was a pleasure to work with. He was respectful of our wishes and offered options that we hadn't thought of.
On wedding day, he looked great/was
well groomed and appropriately dressed. He was early (!) to our venue and had a great sense of humor when I ran from the fronting the middle of the ceremony to grab the flowers I forgot on a table!

Summer wedding MC 5/5
EC was fantastic to work with during our wedding July ‘23.
It was peak summer and our wedding peaked at 97 degrees that day. Our officiant Doina worked with us within a small time frame and was able to whip up a beautiful ceremony in both English and Spanish as it was a bilingual crowd.

Ermine did our wedding in September and he was amazing! Ernie was super helpful in providing resources in the run-up to our wedding that helped us create the flow and content of our ceremony. He was very reassuring when it came to review our selections for the ceremony and also while providing his feedback. On the wedding day Ernie led and created the perfect ceremony for us - thoughtful and personal. With Ernie, we never had to worry about any aspect of our ceremony.

Best wedding officiant
Ernie officiated our wedding last week. Many guests commented on how beautiful and unique the ceremony was. He made everyone laugh and the ceremony was very unique to us. It was exactly what we wanted! We appreciated our appointment with him to get to know each other and left feeling like we were in good hands. He kept in good contact with us through the process and offered to help with anything we needed. Truly it was such a beautiful ceremony and I couldn’t imagine anyone doing a better job.

Captured our love story!
We celebrated our 10 year vow renewal. Doina officiated our vow renewal and she was so eloquent and articulated our love story so well that you would have thought that she had observed our time together as a married couple.
She was able to perfectly capture the sentiment of who we are as a couple and family. She met with us and was very calm and put us at ease as she was getting to know us to create our ceremony. She was so genuine in listening to our values and truly capturing our entire family, including our 3 kids.
Doina also speaks Spanish and this was the cherry on top. I can truly say that I was much more moved at my vow renewal than my wedding day. I was elated to have my children be a part of our vow renewal and couldn't have asked for a better officiant to officiate our beautiful ceremony! Thank you so much Doina @ EC Matrimony

Fantastic experience with EC Matrimony!
We had Ernie marry us at the end of July and he was top notch! We found Ernie after our original officiant backed out a few months before our wedding. Our wedding venue had recommended him and we couldn't have been more thankful that he was willing to do a second wedding on the same day. Ernie knew exactly what to do and after only an hour meeting with us created a ceremony that was tailored just for my groom and I. Ernie is charismatic, kind and knew just what to do. He definitely took away the stress. I highly recommend him for your officiating needs.

Ernie was recommended to us by our florist and a close friend. We met with him once in person a few months before our big day to go over everything and for him to get to know us and our story. Elopement on the Oregon coast!

Fantastic, perfect choice!
Ernie was the perfect choice for us and our ceremony was exactly what we wanted. Ernie was always responsive and caring, and just a genuinely good person to work with. He knows what he’s doing and he’s great at it. There was a very special moment during our ceremony that we will remember forever. We incorporated a ring warming, and when Ernie received the rings after they were warmed by our guests, he closed his iPad and recited the exchange of rings script from memory while slowly untying the twine holding the rings. It felt extremely special and spiritual, like he was unwrapping something magical and sacred just for us. The fact that he was speaking so fluidly from memory while untying the rings made him seem like some kind of wedding wizard with amazing powers and it was an awesome experience. Thank you Ernie and EC Matrimony, we appreciate you!

You won’t regret hiring Ernie!
We got married within about 5 1/2 months of being engaged so as you can imagine we were super stressed getting everything perfect. We decided to go with Ernie based on his reviews and let me tell you we are so happy we did. He is professional, on top of his stuff and most of all, he made our ceremony personal and exactly what we wanted despite only meeting us once. We had guests come up and ask us if we knew him and how amazing he did. It was a great decision and an easy one. If you’re debating on who to hire, you won’t regret going with Ernie.

I cannot say enough good things about working with Ernie! From our first conversation, my husband and I felt like we had known Ernie for years. Initially, we thought about having a friend or family member marry us; we figured having someone that knows us would be special and we could save some money. I am so glad we spent the money to have Ernie marry us! He is easy to talk to and was able to capture and speak to our relationship as if he had known us for years. I loved the ceremony planning resources he provided us. I also appreciated his assistance with mailing the license to the county after the wedding. 10/10 recommend!

Ernie was great, he has a sit down with us asked some very fun and interesting questions and put together an incredible ceremony, there were lots of laughs and it was very personal. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone!

We got so many good feedback from our guests about how much they enjoyed our ceremony and what he put together for our special day. Don’t even think about it, just book him!
In August my wife and I were looking for someone, anyone to officiate our wedding as a family friend who was supposed to had a family emergency. We called and emailed anyone we could and not one single person besides him replied. Once we spoke to him he was so helpful and included everything requested in our ceremony and you can just tell he’s such a genuine and great soul! Don’t even think twice you won’t regret having him as your officiant ❤️

Tobin was a Godsend
Two weeks away from the wedding, I was out an officiant and Tobin was an absolute Godsend. Not only was Tobin able to jump in, but he did so with enthusiasm and an eagerness to make the perfect ceremony that we envisioned. Tobin put a lot of effort into our ceremony as we wanted to have one that was a Christian-Filipino wedding (incorporated the veil, cord, arras, unity candle). Tobin joined in for our rehearsal and was so helpful in assisting with coordinating the bridal party. He was able to tie everything together and seamlessly deliver a personalized ceremony that was both sincere and lighthearted. My family/friends all enjoyed the ceremony. All in all, Tobin is someone who will listen to your needs, wants, and desires and will not fail to deliver. I'm forever, forever grateful.

Ernie was wonderful! Throughout the planning process, he was very attentive during the Q&A to make our ceremony customized to us and highlight our personalities. During the months / weeks / days leading up to our event, Ernie was very responsive to any questions we had throughout. During the ceremony, his calming presence helped me through the ceremony and reading of my vows. I'm somewhat shy and loathe public speaking even if front of loved ones and people I know. I'm not one who speaks loud and I get very emotional. Ernie was whispering affirmations and positive words to keep me focused and calm. Absolutely Perfect!!!
We were going to go to the courthouse to get married, but when we came upon Ernie Claeson’s website we quickly changed our minds, and are so glad we did. Ernie spent a lot of time getting to know us, explained various options, and tailored a ceremony that was just perfect for our small wedding. Ernie did a great job officiating our wedding in April 2022. After attending my niece’s wedding just a month after my own, I now realize just exactly how important having a professional, experienced officiant for a wedding really is. My niece’s wedding officiant seemed nervous and faltered a lot, and many times during the ceremony it seemed like nobody quite knew what was supposed to happen next, which made things a little awkward. My husband and I both commented afterwards how grateful we were that we had Ernie for our ceremony! Ernie showed up on time, was dressed for the occasion, and he pulled the whole ceremony together. He took the time to get to know us and made sure he added all the little personal touches we wanted for our ceremony. He encouraged us to contact him anytime we needed to, and he was always easy to reach. He returns texts and emails in a timely manner, and he made us feel comfortable and at ease immediately. His services are very affordable, as well. We were very pleased!

Tobin did an excellent job!

Ernie is perfect!
Ernie was the most perfect officiant we could have asked for. After searching and searching for the right person, the moment we saw his smiling face, we knew he would be the one to marry us. From his contagious smile, to how easy he was to speak to, to how informative his website and blog was, we felt like we didn’t even need an interview before hiring him! During his interview, we talked for nearly two hours, and it felt like we had known him forever. As the wedding date came closer, we sat down with Ernie over coffee, and he asked us questions we never thought to even ask ourselves. By the time we were done, Ernie knew more about our relationship than I had ever thought to share with anyone! He just knew the perfect things to ask to get to know us. After the meeting, he sent us resources to read over, poems and such that we could add to the ceremony, which we decided on a handfasting ceremony.
The day of, Ernie arrived early and quickly learned the knot we wanted to use during the handfasting. During the ceremony, he had taken our previous conversation, the reading we had chosen, and everything in between, and created the most beautiful ceremony we could have ever dreamed of. Our guests were in tears, we couldn’t stop smiling, and it was truly with Ernie’s beautiful words that our day was perfect.

Charming and Personable - Highly Recommend
Ernie was wonderful. Our wedding ceremony was small, but sweet on the deck at our home. Our special day was Dec. 1 with potential for bad weather and Ernie was willing to be flexible to make it happen (as this particular day was very important to us). Ernie asked all of the right questions and did a beautiful job with very little background info about us. He has a special gift, and we highly recommend him.

Ernie was so gracious and understanding. Ernie actually took the time to come back to the venue a month later to give us a small intimate ceremony with just the two of us.
