Beautiful venue and amazing food!
We first looked at Eastport a year ago and it caught our eye with how absolutely gorgeous the view was from the banquet hall across the river. We were not disappointed! Our ceremony was out on the balcony with the reception inside and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting! We had brunch which was absolutely delicious and I loved being able to have a made to order omelet station for my guests! Working with Barracks/Eastport was incredibly easy and I felt like everything that went into the day was made to my liking and every detail was taken care of. Thank you so much to all the staff for making my wedding day (and rehearsal dinner!) amazing! -

EastPort is the perfect venue for a wedding. The setting, overlooking downtown Peoria and the Illinois River, is spectacular. I want to thank Barracks Cater Inn for exceptional service and food. Everyone who attended the wedding (and most guests were from Chicago) told me the food and service were excellent. Jim Barrack and his staff are so so excellent. -

We loved having our wedding here! The view was beautiful! The space worked great for our 109 guests. Barracks food was wonderful! The staff was great with the service, they were always refilling drinks and cleaning up plates. We also had our ceremony there on the deck and it was beautiful! -

Barrack's catered our wedding and did an absolutely amazing job! Our representative, Jonelle, responded to all of my emails and questions very promptly. All of my requests were followed through flawlessly! Everyone that worked at our wedding was very kind, professional, and always smiling. We were asked all through the night if we needed anything. Most of all, the food was delicious! Our guests were all very pleased with their dinner, and our late night nacho bar was a huge hit! We would recommend Barrack's to anyone looking for excellent food served by professional staff. Thank you, Barrack's! -

The representative we worked with was very helpful and friendly. We had a very simple wedding, and she never tried to 'sell' higher priced options to us, but worked with us to choose what was right for us. Definitely worth the money because the quality is great and they make it very easy to get everything you need. -

We are no slouches when it comes to planning and pricing an event like this. And Barracks won hands down for references, experience, equipment, venues and, not insignificantly, price. The Eastport Banquet Center turned out to be perfect for our 250-some guests. Clearly, they take good care of the place. The floor was refinished a few months ahead of the wedding. And the outside deck was power-washed days before. Everything was so neat, clean and sparkly. The menu choices were almost overwhelming. But most importantly, Barrack's willingness to work with us (and to work seamlessly with our wedding planner) was most impressive, right down to making a bridal couple’s cheesecake with a special cake-top ornament we had found. Then, on the steamy hot wedding day, without being asked, the caterer had ice water outside for the guests and electric fans for the bridal party. Guests from 18 states remarked on the quality of the food and service, the friendliness of the staff, the gorgeous setting. No single detail was overlooked. Barracks scored big again the very next day with the post-wedding party at our house and its terrific picnic dinner. Everything was exactly as they’d said it would be. Based on our experience, it’s easy to see why this family business has been going for 80 years.

Our event was held at Eastport Marina. What a beautiful setting! The food was wonderful and plentiful...I received many compliments on the food from our guests. Barracks provided a wide variety of items that we used for table decorations free of charge along with our package purchase. Barracks staff was helpful and attentive and supplied what ever was needed...Thank you for making our event so memorable! The event was well worth the money spent! -

This vendor was very helpful and responsive to our reception needs. They were understanding and patient with us when we encountered delays and really came alongside us when we needed them most.
The service before our event was handled very professionally. They left nothing to chance and their efforts to communicate with us were always appreciated.
At our reception, their servers were professional and genuinely interested in doing the job they'd been hired to do. They treated us very respectfully, tried to help us in ways that went beyond their specific call of duty and were accommodating when we had questions or concerns.
Overall, we enjoyed our daughter's reception without care or concern because Barrack's was part of our team! Thanks for all you do! -

I could not say enough about Barracks and their staff! Donna was WONDERFUL to work with, very go with the flow and looking to please! The staff the night of the reception was attentive and polite. Our guests loved the food! They even made one special plate (vegetarian style :) for me, the bride, and followed me from the buffet to my table to ensure I had it with the rest of my meal! We are so glad that we trusted them with our special day because they helped make it perfect!! -

We admittedly made the mistake of originally shopping for caterers for our wedding reception on price. What a mistake. The supplier we chose had decent service the first couple months and things completely fell apart just a few months before our event.
We parted ways with that supplier and contacted Barrack’s. We didn’t know what we were missing until we did. From the very first frantic phone call to Barrack’s, they were outstanding to work with. Their service was far beyond what we ever could have expected –incredibly friendly and helpful, timely, great ideas and suggestions, very flexible to work with and absolutely on top of the details right down to the special request PB&J we asked them deliver to the head table as a joke for one of our groomsmen during dinner. Their staff working our event that night nailed every single detail.
And that’s not to mention the quality of their food. A month later, we still have people commenting on how good the food was, especially the fillets. A quote from one of our guests “Not only was your venue absolutely upscale, the food was too!”
Barrack’s wasn’t just a wedding caterer. They weren’t even just a valued partner. They literally became part of our day and made it so incredibly special for us and our guests.

I highly reccomend them to anyone desiring a caterer who will assist you throughout the entire process, help you select your food items, organize plan within your budget, follow up on any loose ends, and consulant makes you feel like its her own wedding. I received so many compliments from my guest on the quality/taste of foodservice and also the professionalism of their waite staff. I am so glad we selected Barracks as our caterer, and I give them the highest reccomemdation for anyone considering caterers for their wedding- Jim Wunder -

They were really nice about helping make sure I had the linens ahead of time (I was personally putting the table decor together, and my wedding was not located in Peoria). They really took care of all of the little details to make sure that the wedding was a nice and elegant as possible. Even though the food had to be carted 45 minutes away from their business, it was hot and delicious, and all the guests had wonderful things to say. Nicest, most communicative staff out there! -

Barrack's was very flexible in that they made special recipes for us that weren't on their menus. In comparison to other caterers in Peoria, they were accommodating, especially when we needed a special dish cooked that other caterers refused to do. Mandy was always available for questions and everything was served professionally and efficiently. The guests loved the food and it is the best value for the Peoria area, especially serving 300+ crowd of people we had. -

Words cannot explain how thankful we are to East Port Banquet. From the minute we stepped onto the grounds, we knew this was where we wanted to say 'I do'. Who could resist having a photo with the river and city light backdrop. The room looked fantastic for wedding ceremony and reception. Jim Barrack, Carolyn and his team were amazing on accommodating all our request and providing us time to decorate and prepare the place. Lastly, we received amazing feedback on how great the food and service. Our day went down without a hitch. Thank you so much to East Port Banquet team for making our wedding day special.-

East Port Banquet was a great venue. It's not only beautiful, located right on the river, but such a great team to work with. We did have a few very minor issues the day of, but they were so kind and generous afterwards helping us with them. The food was delicious and so great to have catering right there through them! From the pictures that were taken no one could have guessed that we got married in East Peoria, escpecially at sun set. So beautiful. The staff are very friendly and they really tried to do everything to please me and they did!! We had a lot of suprise guest and they did there very best to accomodate everyone that showed up and did a wonderful job, they recommended a DJ who was awsome - James Feehan from Washington. The food was good, they provied plates for the cake and chocolate fountain and plates and silverware for the meal, they have a very nice place for the DJ to set up. We had just about 200 guest and the place was full but not crowded. We got married out on the deck which they cleaned up really nice before we decorated it. I highly recommend EastPort Banquet as a place for your reception and wedding (wedding only if you have 130 guest max though - it was rather crowded for all the people sitting). -

Barrack's provide us with a really good service in regards to food, but where they lack is there professionalism in regards to how many people they have employed there. Whenever I would email or call I would get a new person and a different answer to my question. No one really seemed to know what the exact answer was to anything I asked. I found that after a few mis communications that it was best to only talk to one person and refuse contact with any other which is what I did and after I did that the problem was solved. I only contacted through email so I had documentation of conversations so I highly recommend that. Overall they had excellent food and everyone was raving about how good it was all night. We had one other hiccup with the tablecloths we ordered, but it was resolved so overall I recommend them to anyone, but make sure you keep contact with one person to make your experience easier. -

I had an overall positive experience with EastPort. Unfortunately, the employee whom I had been working with through my planning experience left the company just a few weeks before my wedding. This was obviously not their fault, but it did create a few problems with last minute planning and decorating. I had communicated that I needed a 6-person head table and a certain number of guest tables in each room, but when my family arrived to decorate, everything was still set up for the wedding the day before, which had very different requirements. It worked out in the end and I had a beautiful wedding. The food was very good. -

Had a few issues with our catering. The food wasn't exactly what we had tasted and there were extra things in the alfredo that we didn't know were going to be there and the brisket wasn't sauced. They also brought in something with nuts when I had explicitly said that I am highly allergic.
The people were very nice and responded to my nut problem. However, I would say to make sure that you are very specific with this caterer and to keep contacting them before the event to make sure they have everything written down. -

The only thing that was off is I gave a timeline to every vendor and no one really followed it. Each person would come and ask bride/groom what was next? Awkward and waste of time that I planned a timeline. Also lot of cake was saved and not served to my guests? I would rather I had say on that. Some did not get cake! -

In the beginning I was not sure how Barrack's Cater Inn would do the day of our reception. We had different workers tell us different things (ie lemonade is/is not included in open bar, you do/don't have to pay the open bar price for those under 21). But, when it came to the day of the event they did a wonderful job. The food was great, the bartenders were great, and their workers were great. Everything went well. -

Excellent the Day Of
Barrack's was extremely uneven throughout the process of preparing for our wedding. On the one hand, they were very attentive before we retained them and during the event, on the other, it could take weeks to nail down little details that were required so we could proceed with other planning. Finalizing the menu was a two month nightmare and we ended up ordering menus before the menu was actually finalized in our contract. Everything came together perfectly at the end, but the process of getting there was harder than it needed to be. I am not sure if the root of the problem was our representative, Jonelle, or if there is some other technical issue that kept her from making simple, timely updates to our meal plan.
Again though, the extremely professional service by the staff on the wedding day was amazing and I would recommend Barrack's on that basis despite the planning frustrations. -

Great location for a reception. For those from the area, this used to be the location of a Famous Dave's restaurant (don't worry, the BBQ smell is gone). Nice large deck area overlooking the Illinois river toward downtown Peoria. My wife and I booked this place soon after they started as a banquet center so we got an exceptional deal on the place. We did things a bit different: wedding was on Friday night and a dessert reception. Eastport was very flexible with our requests: supplying the desserts/champaign but still allowing a small caterer bring her desserts in. The manager of the event was a bit frazzled throughout the reception and it showed. The management never did take the time to meet my wife and I which casued them to stick their foot in their mouths a couple times. We had also setup a time to meet with someone to go over our plans for the reception and they never showed. Other than that, it is a really great place, just make sure you are on top of the staff and get what you want. -

There was a lot of great qualities including the food, the flexibility in changing things to personalize things the way I wanted, and of course the venue itself was great with amazing views. It was difficult at times with correspondence and I really had to keep following up to get my questions answered. There was a bit of a lack of communication between the main lady I talked to and the staff the night of the event which at times was frustrating but in the end it all worked out. -

I was originally super excited to have Barrack's cater our reception. The food was absolutely amazing - we got nothing but compliments from all the guests. The people that work for Barrack's were great during our planning. However, the reason I gave them a mediocre review is because my fiance and I had special requests for alcohol for the bridal party. We paid almost $400 for special champagne for the bridal party and I (the Bride) has only 4 mini glasses!! I later found out that one of my bridesmaids asked for more and was turned down because "I said no" - actually, I was never asked. Then, come to find out after talking to guests and seeing photos - guests were given - not just glasses, BOTTLES of our special request, and the bridal party barely had any! I found out that one of my guests actually got away with PAYING a bartender to get more, while we had none. Then, I called to make them aware of the situation, and our rep. did nothing but talk over me and swear that she had no idea and "thought everything was fine." The food was good, but this was not what I wanted to find out after the fact - not to mention, I feel like I paid $125/glass of $10 wine!!! -

We chose EastPort Banquet Center for our wedding ceremony and reception because it was on the water with a beautiful view and could be both our ceremony and reception site. We were very pleased with the view from the balcony and the dining room. We had some challenges with the venue and would recommend it with reservations. There is no bridal room or suite, directly below the deck is a bar entirely separate from the Banquet center, additionally you are required to use Barrack’s Catering. We had our best experience working with Barrack’s when we worked with them via email, over the phone and in person details often had to be repeated. I liked that Barracks allowed significant customization beyond their standard wedding packages. During our wedding day there were some issues, but Mr. Barrack apologized and offered us a conciliation for our troubles.

#1: They forgot our late night snack (they did refund us a few weeks later)
#2: They gave our vegetarian and children's meals to the wrong tables...the father of the groom had to leave the reception to go get them meals. I'm not sure why Barrack's didn't make accomodations, or why the Father of the Groom felt he had to leave to get them a meal...but regardless, because of this mistake, he missed the first dances.
#3: They didn't cut our wedding cake until after 11pm, when the reception was almost over AND we had to tell them to do it (the host didn't seem to understand why we would want our cake cut if we had cupcakes earlier in the evening with the appetizers, and this was his reason as to why he didn't cut the cake)
Basically, the host was the reason why I am giving the scores I did. Any stars that I gave go to Susan, who graciously helped with all of the planning and helped make special accomodations, and to Armando the bartender for making awesome drinks and being a complete joy. But the host's oversights and lack of apologies and lack of appearing to take responsibility for the mistakes were extremely upsetting. Susan apologized on his behalf for the late night snack oversight.
If I was scoring the planning process, Barrack's would get a 5 out of 5. If I was scoring the performance on the day of the wedding, I would give a 1 out of 5.
These are my opinions and feelings. Barrack's has been made aware of these thoughts. -

We were happy with the quality of food we received the day of our event. However, we were not at all pleased with the caterer who we worked with in planning the event prior to the day of the wedding. For months ahead of time, we worked with a woman who seemed to think this was her day and thought that she should make the food choices, etc. for us. She was not working for us, and it didn't even seem as if she was working for Barrack's, it was as if she was in her own world. When we requested to sample the lasagna she advised us against it telling us that the lasagna was not a good choice for food (as in it didn't taste good). As another example, we had asked for a certain type of alcoholic beverage that she initially told us would be no problem. Later, she insisted they could not provide it. However, when we researched this, within two phone calls, the distributor committed to providing this for us on a special order. I would have thought she would have worked to make this happen for us, but she did not. Finally, before signing a contract with them, we made them aware that we would have several vegan guests at our event and she said it would not be a problem. However, just weeks before the wedding, she seemed totally stumped as to what vegan meal they could provide. She asked if they could eat pasta (which most pastas are off limits to vegans as they are made with egg and have cheese on it-things I would have assumed a caterer would have known.) We were very happy about the service we received the day of the wedding, but up to that point we really worried about how the night would go. -

Barrack's catered the class reunion last night at East Port. This was a pre-pay event, knowing exactly how many were going to attend. All attendees were over 65 years of age (not big eaters). There were ten "no shows". The meal was served buffet style with the main course being chicken and roast beef, along with a lettuce salad, pasta salad, green beans and rolls. With twenty attendees left to go through the line, they ran out of plates, lettuce salad and roast beef. This may not sound terribly bad, but that left, rolls with no butter, a cold pasta salad, and the only chicken remaining was left over pieces of roasted chicken wings and legs. They then scurried to find additional plates. Then they brought in additional salad. This was then followed by a prime rib roast that was fatty and sliced in quarter inch slices, seemingly to stretch the servings. All along, no communications as to what to expect, nor an apology. There were comments by the servers that the prime rib is a better choice than roast beef and should be worth the inconvenience. I have tried not to exaggerate and state only the facts. Not exactly what you would expect from an experienced caterer. -
