For those reading those negative reviews, please do not fall on the same boat as mine.

My cousin has used Dragon Dynasty catering for his wedding 6 years ago. Because of their good food and service, all my cousins, relatives, and friends (close to 20 weddings) have used them as the caterer for their weddings. Not one of them had any complaints. All parents, friends, and families were more than satisfied. Food were all cooked onsite. Quantity and quality of food is above average. Service of their staff were professional. They have all dealt with Harvey I believe it's the one in charge. He's very professional and took care of everything for the bride and groom.

Because of these negative reviews by those from North Pole, I have decided to opt out from my relatives and friends and have cancelled Harvey to go with Jacky with a higher price. Unfortunately, it's the beginning of a nightmare. Whatever described on the forum was exactly what happened in my wedding: food is cold, size of dish is small, and service is unprofessional. As a result, I have been bombarded since the wedding by my parents, in-laws, and families for not using Harvey. It ruined not only my wedding but also my relationship with my in-laws. They feel lose face when the relatives talk about my wedding, like most of the Chinese parents.

I have also personally attended a Chinese wedding at Scarborough Convention Centre a month ago. I have to say the managers of the hall is terrible to deal with but the food and service from Dragon Dynasty was consistent with the other weddings I've attended. Unfortunately, it was too late for me to change back to Harvey.

For those of you looking for a dependable and quality Chinese caterer for your wedding, you will definitely have no regret to go with Dragon Dynasty / Harvey. Otherwise you'll be on the same boat as mine. :(

When we booked the Eglinton Grand for our wedding venue, we were tempted to serve our guests a Western dinner rather than pay extra to have Dragon Dynasty provide Chinese catering. However, after much consideration, we realized that nothing would please our parents more than to have a traditional Chinese wedding banquet dinner. We decided to offer our guests the best of both worlds: a gorgeous venue & traditional Chinese menu.

It was the best decision we made for our wedding. The catering provided by Dragon Dynasty was superb. The service was fast, efficient, and professional. The food was cooked on site and was EXCELLENT. (In truth, it was much better than many other Chinese wedding dinners we have had that were served at Chinese restaurants or halls.) We received so many compliments from our guests, both young and old, Chinese and non-Chinese, about how good the food was at our wedding. Our parents and older relatives were truly impressed. The catering manager Joe, was efficient and prompt and even checked-in with my mom a couple of times throughout the evening to make sure that the food and service were up to her expectations.

For future brides and grooms facing the same dilemma that we did, I would highly suggest having both a gorgeous banquet hall and excellent Chinese food catered by Dragon Dynasty. It's all that your guests will remember and you won't regret it.

NOTE: Dragon Dynasty was highly professional to work with, but tended to be easier to reach when my wedding day was getting a little closer (like one month away or so). Just something to keep in mind in case there are any brides who freak out if their emails aren't responded to within 24 hours=P

A friend of mines family hired this catering company (dragon dynasty and their managing partners ROVEY) for a wedding , (based on stellar on-line reviews) ..it was a celebratory weekend and they wanted something very special - the food was unappealing visually and not very tasty. the worst part was the chicken was under-cooked!!! I was assured by the server that the kitchen would bend over backwards to make me a new one , ensuring it will be cooked and adding whatever is needed to up the experience . Not only did it come back OVER cooked , the server said there was nothing she can do about it now because she has to serve the next set of courses and the kitchen doesn't have the time.

Sorry dragon dynasty, i am not impressed.

This was the worst catering experience ever! It was for my best friends wedding and we wanted it to be special and perfect. The way the food turned out was a total embarrassment! The crispy chicken was extremely dry, the sauteed scallops were completely soggy, not one thing we ordered turned out good in the least bit.
To top of some of the worst food I've ever had in my life, they kept giving us a hard time about sitting too close together, which prevented them for serving! To top it off, one of their servers dropped a dish on the ground and refused to clean it up! Her primary contact was Harvey Tam and when we told him about the problems, he said that this is what we should expect for the price he gave me!!! If you want your event to go smoothly and have good food then DO NOT GIVE Dragon dynasty or their affiliates YOUR BUSINESS!!!!!

I can understand the trauma you would have underwent because of dragon dynasty caterers. I also got couple of negative feedback from my friends on their horrible experience with them. Had i known before would have got rid of them but too late now...the only thing this place has going for is the price. Management needs to learn how to treat customers. Highly disappointed with the service of this catering company. - Jon Chiang, Markham

I was very unhappy with my experience at Dragon Dynasty. I had just come from Grand Lake Chinese cuisine and wanted to see if Dragon Dynasty had better prices. I am throwing a bridal shower and wanted to go over the menu. When I went in I told the lady that I wanted to check out some pricing for the food. She handed me the menu, said here and then helped the lady behind me. She didn't care that I had any questions, or that I needed any help. The lady behind me was older, (so obviously she wanted to help her over me), helped her and let me stand there for about 10 minutes. A man walked in and asked if i had been helped, I told him no. Then his cell phone started going off, and the girl started firmly telling him to turn it off. Before he could figure out the situation, the girl came over and helped me. i asked her questions about the menu - if i was able to substitute certain dishes over others , all she could tell me was she didn't know. She was absolutely no help.

The funny thing is, she thought that she should help someone else over me because of status. The thing that she really missed out on is that I do events all the time for work, and was possibly thinking about having events there all the time to help my company save money. So instead of helping the first customer in line she skipped me, because she thought she could make more money on the lady behind me.

As someone who is in the industry I would never use this restaurant. Completely unprofessional.

    No way Dragon Dynasty....bad service.

This was the worst catering experience ever we faced from a caterer named ROVEY/DRAGON DYNASTY! While we searched on the internet for a good caterer Rovey/dragon dynasty name flashed to the top ... Its from my own experience that i am sharing this feedback.... my boss was throwing our annual work function and i was working side by side with him to help organize. we wanted to try Chinese. The way the food turned out was terrible! first of all, the food was not delivered on time .. second of all, the menu were totally different from what we discussed when we first signed the contract...they told me the day of they had to change the menu last minute!  then the taste and quality of food was lousy...None of my coworkers were happy and had literally yelled at us for selecting such a horrible caterer.

I am sure many who have previously engaged them would vouch for me...

I have been  planning various banquets for a few years and have worked with more than a dozen caterers. This was - by far not only the worst experience but the only time I felt like I had been robbed and cheated. When Rovey says "Don't worry we'll take care of you, we won't overcharge you" they're full of shit. I did not want to give them even 1 star but there was no option for zero. Save yourself a lot of grief, headache and money and find another caterer!

Rude manager, Overrated and poor quality control

Had dim sum here, the food was not cooked, my girlfriend ordered their "har gow" and it tasted like it was poured gas on the meal-prior to the meal . we received burnt custard bun and when we asked the waiter to please bring us a better loaf that was edible , he was annoyed at the very idea. When we ordered the beef rice noodle, the sauce was watered down and the beef had a bad odor. My girlfriend stepped in and asked to see the manager and the manager stopped by our table. When my girlfriend tried to address our concerns, he became extremely defensive and began arguing with her. Needless to say, we stood up and let him know that we would not be recommending this establishment to anybody we know, nor would we be returning. Instead of apologizing, he threw a huge tantrum and embarrassed himself in front of the rest of the customers! Needless to say, another family left with us! We ended up at Spring Villa Chinese cuisine where we were welcomed with open arms and a tasty meal and friendly staff! If it was possible to give 0 stars, we would.

DON'T use Dragon Dynasty for catering.  you can find your food cheaper with better service at Grand Catering and look at the reviews...no hassle.

Harvey who is the manager is terrible to work with. He is in the front office and completely unprofessional and really shouldn't be working with the public. The arrogance is really annoying and I didn't like having to be constantly on my toes as he tried to charge me extra for anything he could. Unfortunately, It was too late as my wife had already given him a non refundable deposit. The process was not enjoyable, just a caution - for Harvey, it's all about the bottom line.

When I am throwing an event, I want someone excited and involved. What I got was somebody who tried to squeeze me for everything i got and who could have care less about my event.

    NEVER AGAIN!

I had the bad luck of eating at your restaurant. no one told us that there was to be an event later in the afternoon and that the restaurant would be a mess with missing tables and that waiters would be dismantling the restaurant as we were trying to enjoy our dinner. The atmosphere was to say the least uncomfortable and the place was completely disorganized.

We ordered our first drink, beers (coors light) we waited probably 10 minutes before the waiter came back to inform us that the bar did not know what type of beers we wanted, literally 10 minutes later the waiter came back to inform me that they didn't have enough coors light!  The terrible service for drinks set the tone for us already.

Our waiter told us he was new and didn’t know what he was doing. I think, didn’t know what he was doing is a complete understatement, he had no understanding of anything, so any inquiries about the menu-  he would have to run off to ask someone , only to come back at our table 10 minutes later with ambiguous answers.

switching to the  food , someone finally came to take our  order, just to be told that there was a few things missing on the menu, ok fine, we ordered something else, another few things were missing, with no apology or reason given!. The food finally comes . The vegetables were wilted and very poor, the beef tenderloin arrived that looked like it had been sitting on the plate for 5 hours. The prawns had been given about 15 mins too long and was dry.

It was only 3:00pm, but it was obvious they just wanted us out of there so they could set up for the event .

To sum it up -  it was close to worst dining experience and  I can understand why the restaurant was not full.

Evidently we will not be returning, nor will the 20 people I have told since, or the people they tell.

I am extremely disappointed. I had my niece's wedding with them, and I have to say that I am beyond disappointed with the service by Rovey/Dragon Dynasty Caterers. During the reception dinner, they screwed up all of our orders! We prepared a vegetarian list in advance and out of 15 that we ordered, only 2 of them came out. No one from the Caterers even apologized! Most of the tables didn't even have champagne during the toasts, even though we paid for it!I had to practically hunt someone down to find a wait staff to get a glass of water during the reception. I saw my niece who was the bride who left the bridal table to look for the manager because the bar was delayed in opening causing a HUGE line up around the corner. I brought these issues up to them and they didn't even apologize. No one from Rovey/Dragon Dynasty was readily available throughout my niece's big day.

I would give minus 10 stars if I could. In fairness, I never dealt with Dragon dynasty, the actual restaurant. All business was transacted through their caterer and managing partner Harvey Tam. I have never in my life had such a poor experience. We hired Rovey Catering/Dragon Dynasty for my daughters wedding to be held At Scarborough Convention Centre. We chose this business because of the good reviews pertaining to the menu. Everything went well at first, but after he had our deposit, and the time the event was near, he was unbelievably rude, condescending and over rode every decision we made. In essence, it was to become his wedding instead of ours. 3 weeks before the wedding, he stopped answering  my calls.  Please do your homework before hiring a cater, Dragon Dynasty and Rovey was a nightmare.
