Great Day-of Coordinator!

Doug and Glenn were great to work with!
We chose Doug Smith Events as our Day-of Coordinator based on a recommendation from our venue, The Carrick House, and we are so glad that we did! Doug and Glenn helped with so much from start to finish! They were professional, helpful, flexible, and so talented! The meetings leading up to our day were very organized and really made sure that we weren’t missing anything. Doug and Glenn were very familiar with the Carrick House and their staff which made working with the two even better! They were always open to our ideas and always had great ideas and suggestions for us when we weren’t really sure. They made our wedding weekend so stress free, working with all of our vendors to insure setup, breakdown, and everything in between. We are so thankful for them and everything they did behind the scenes to make sure we had the perfect day! Thank you, Doug and Glenn!!!

Made our day a dream!

Doug and Glenn did an excellent job with my wedding on 8/29/20. I loved everything from my bridal bouquet to each different table centerpiece to our elegant back drop for the ceremony. He listens to your exact vision and brings your dream day to life! Hiring Doug and Glenn as our florist and day of coordinator was the best decision we could have made. Doug has excellent ideas and is so fun to work with. He has a great attitude and can find a way to adapt to pretty much anything. Loved working with these guys and highly recommend!

Knowledgeable and did a great job

Doug did an excellent job with our flowers and trellis. I didn't have too many ideas, but what ideas I did have her was able to make them work. He was easy going, but very knowledgeable about all things wedding.

Say a little prayer for you.....

The ONLY decision you have to make, after choosing your significant other, is the wedding planner. And the ONLY right decision is Doug Smith Designs. I am finishing wedding #3 in 3 years and they have been with me every step of the way. Three different venues, different styles, different budgets and different personalities of the couples. Doug Smith and Glenn Blind met, and exceeded, every expectation. I end these 3 years with a tremendous amount of respect and admiration of the professional job they do to make a wedding day the BEST day of your life.

A recommendation that goes on too long becomes noisy. Let me simply say that if you chose a different wedding planner, I will say a little prayer for you........

Simply Amazing

Getting Doug Smith and his team to help with our wedding flowers and decorations was one of the best decisions we could've ever made. Doug was AWESOME! He worked diligently and made each detail of our wedding beautiful and worked with what we had or wanted. He even turned our gym, venue space, into an absolute dream. Our day wouldn't have been as perfect as it was if it wasn't for Doug. We were extremely pleased and so happy with everything!

Doug and Glenn were a dream come true for my husband and me!

Doug and Glenn were a dream come true for my husband and me! We had tried fruitlessly to start planning our wedding for several months before meeting with Doug and Glenn and our only regret is that we didn’t find them sooner!

Before meeting Doug and Glenn, my fiancée and I struggled to find time to visit venues outside of regular business hours. Not only did Glenn arrange times to visit venues that fit into our busy schedule, but he also suggested several beautiful venues we hadn’t considered which ended up fitting our needs perfectly. Doug and Glenn had excellent contacts and recommended several vendors they knew we could count on - and they did not disappoint!

Neither my fiancée nor I are planners by nature, but Doug and Glenn helped us stay on top of all the decisions that lay in front of us (even the ones we didn’t realize we needed to make)! We always enjoyed meeting with them both and left each meeting even more excited about our wedding.

We were also lucky enough to have Doug handle the flowers for our big day and we received nothing but rave reviews from our friends and family. Our bouquets were exactly what I had pictured and the decor at our reception was simply spectacular. Glenn was with us all day on our wedding day and made sure we stayed on schedule. We were able to relax and soak in each moment of our day knowing that everything was in his capable hands.

We simply cannot recommend Doug Smith Designs and Events highly enough! They were both a joy to work with and we couldn't have done it without them!

Where to even begin?!—Doug & Glenn are royalty in the wedding planning world. There isn’t anything these two aren’t able to do. Any dream you may have for your wedding day they can easily turn into reality!
We chose Doug’s full wedding coordinator package and it was worth it a million times over. We actually looked into a few other wedding planners before signing with Doug. Many planners were double the price and didn’t offer half of what Doug & Glenn offered. My husband & I were married in Lexington this past September. However, we are both from a town two hours away in South Eastern Kentucky. When beginning the whole wedding planning process, I knew I wanted to incorporate as much “home” into my Lexington wedding as possible. Planning a wedding from two hours away was, at first, overwhelming. Doug and Glenn completely eliminated any concerns and worries that Chase and I had. They were by our side through EVERY step of the process.
They, of course, were with us in helping to make decisions on all of the “big” things: choosing our perfect venue, deciding on vendors, and finalizing the guest list. The best part of all, though, is that they were also there for the “little things.” Doug came to my bridesmaids’ dress fitting while Glenn took the time to help me decide on the perfect robes to get ready in. They managed every single RSVP, organized the entire rehearsal dinner, and so much more. Not to mention, they went above and beyond to individualize our wedding by helping to bring touches of Eastern Kentucky to it. The fireworks, live painter, and moonshine favors were perfect and truly set our wedding apart from others. There wasn’t any idea or vision I had or asked for on our wedding that they couldn’t bring to life!
On the day of the wedding, every single thing flowed perfectly. For many brides, their wedding day is perhaps the most stressful day of their lives. Mine, on the other hand, thanks to Doug and Glenn, was the exact opposite. I, along with Chase and our parents, were truly able to be present throughout the entire day and just simply enjoy it while taking in every second of the best day of our lives. There was not one single moment where I was stressed; I knew that Doug and Glenn had everything more than under control. I cannot say enough about their professionalism and expertise in the planning process.
Doug and Glenn are exactly what you dream up in your mind when you imagine the perfect wedding planners! I have seen so many wedding planners on television and in movies growing up. I always thought, “there’s no way someone like that truly exists or that everything could turn out that perfect.” Doug and Glenn, once again proved me wrong. They are BETTER than what you see in the movies!
When you have two wedding planners that are really present every single step of the way, your and your spouses dreams come true. I can’t thank Doug and Glenn enough for creating the most picture perfect day for Chase and me. Throughout this year long process of planning our perfect wedding we not only found the two best coordinators in Kentucky we also formed a lasting friendship with Doug & Glenn. We are so happy to have them in our lives to share their guidance, positivity & love for what they do. I will miss our daily phone calls, emails & texts as well as all my D&G time!
Doug & Glenn, you will forever hold a special place in mine & Chase’s hearts for you are the ones who helped us to begin our forever.

They honestly are a one stop shop, if you can book them for planning, design/floral etc. We got them for day of, and appreciated the knowledge, preparedness and organization to keep our day going, and organizing with all the vendors, while Bride & Groom and wedding parties focus on the day. Perfection

We used Doug Smith Designs + Events for both design and month of coordination. Our experience was perfect. Doug was our initial contact, he was professional, responsive, and immediately put as at ease. Doug is an absolutely amazing and talented designer. Our floral creations were so beautiful they brought tears to my eyes. Everything from my bouquet to the arch at the “alter” to the centerpieces we’re just so stunning. He helped me pick details that helped add that charm we were looking for, but we never felt pressured by him to add more. He was truly focused on what we wanted and what our vision was of our perfect day. I had so many guests tell me that we had the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to, and that was in large part due to Doug. Glenn was our coordinator, and he was phenomenal. I ran into a few hiccups last minute with two other vendors, and Glenn handled those with grace and professionalism. I didn’t have to worry about anything. Not one detail. The day of the wedding, Glenn involved me in as much or as little as I wanted. My and my husband’s wedding day was our time to truly enjoy each moment as they passed. Doug and Glenn are two who you can trust to execute your vision and ensure it’s the best day of your new life together. We cannot thank them enough for all they did. They will forever hold a special place in our hearts!

Since our wedding, I’ve been asked many times for my #1 tidbit of advice to brides in the midst of wedding planning - without hesitation my #1 piece of advice is to make sure Doug Smith Designs + Events is a part of your big day! From the first time we met with Doug I knew we had to have him help with our wedding! I had originally just planned on purchasing flowers from him (and ours turned out beautiful!). However, at our first meeting, he asked if we had though about wedding coordination (which I hadn't!). As he was explaining their services, he brought up details about my wedding that had literally not even crossed my mind, but yet, all of these details were SO important! There was no turning back. I knew he would be a perfect fit for the extra guidance I needed! He was so knowledgeable, full of helpful advice, and willing to help in any way he could. All while not being pushy/judgemental at all! We talked about all my ideas, concerns, and worries and he assured me it would all turn out just fine. From the face-to-face meetings, to the emails, to the day of coordination, to the flowers; everything was perfect. I honestly don't know how we would have gotten through the day without their help. I am a very detail oriented person and he provided us with a timeline for our wedding day which was a game changer. It made me feel so much more organized knowing exactly how much time we had for everything we needed to squeeze in the day. I felt like I was clinging to our two assistants all day (Sarah & Susan). They kept me on track and always made me feel reassured that everything was going like it was supposed to. It's like they could anticipate things before they even happened and I was so grateful for them. They were in contact with our vendors the day of our wedding, making sure set up was going smoothly. All we had to do was show up to the ceremony on time! It made the day so much less stressful knowing that they were handling that aspect. If I had to do it over again, I would choose Doug Smith Designs + Events every time. I felt like it was the best money we spent on our wedding, worth every penny! They are so good at what they do and we were very impressed!

Doug and Glenn are incredible! Not sure how anyone does it without them! The flowers were impeccable; the centerpieces and bouquets were just gorgeous. We gave some broad ideas, let them take care of the rest, and we were thrilled with how everything came together. The coordination that they provided made the weekend so much less stressful. They had everything planned perfectly and were just telling us where we needed to be and when from the start of the day to the end of the night. Made it SO easy and made for a flawless, fun and unforgettable weekend. My mom still can't believe she actually slept the nights leading up to the wedding because they had everything handled! Can I leave 10 stars? In all seriousness Doug and Glenn are exceptional. I used them for both 30-day out planning, and all florals for our wedding this past October 14, 2017. I knew when I began planing our wedding I wanted to surround myself with not only the best vendors, but also people that I connected with and would be able to keep me calm on the wedding day (I tend to get anxious in large groups, and knew I wanted a calm and relaxed wedding day!). Doug and Glenn took every worry away, and allowed my family and I to enjoy the day without stressing about any details. Every single detail was beyond beautiful, they were able to execute my vision perfectly! So perfectly in fact I am having another bouquet made to keep, it was the prettiest thing I have ever seen!! There are not enough words in the world for Will and I to adequately express our appreciation and gratitude to Glenn and Doug of Doug Smith Designs + Events for guiding us through the planning and production of our July 2017 wedding. As a person who hadn't thought much about what kind of bride I wanted to be or what kind of wedding I wanted to have, I went into the whole thing pretty (or rather seriously...) uninformed on how all those Southern Living and Pinterest-worthy weddings come together in real life. But Glenn and Doug took my no-nonsense personality in stride :) From the very first time we met with them, I knew we were in the right hands. These were the guys who would not only provide us with prompt information and the widest variety of options and ideas (who knew there were SO many??), but more importantly, these were the guys who would help creatively inspire me and help us to develop a fully-realized vision for the most beautiful day of our lives. Glenn and Doug treated us like family and made sure we were taken care of every step of the way. Their unyielding support, impeccable professionalism, and unparalleled industry expertise are what gave me, my husband, and both our families the irreplaceable opportunity to truly enjoy our wedding instead of having to stress over it. What you want more than anything is the perfect day, the best venue, beautiful flowers, great food, appropriate invitations, entertainment, and oh yes, the groom! Doug and Glen of Doug Smith Designs were spot on for my daughter in a short timeframe. Within six months my daughter had the wedding of her dreams, even though she says she never dreamed of that day! They identified her personality and met her expectations flawlessly. The whole experience can be overwhelming, even for those of us who think we can do it all! I have #2 in 2018 and would not consider using anyone else!

PS…. Their flowers are were exquisite and commented as such by everyone, including other floral designers!

Doug and Glenn are seriously amazing. I can honestly say that our wedding would not have happened without them. Due to some life circumstances we ended up having to move our wedding forward three months AFTER having vendors booked. They had all of our changes done within a day. The biggest positives for us were: 1. ease of communication - they were always available to answer questions, and there was no limit on the amount of communication (I found this to be the case with many other planners when I was searching). 2. Our wedding day was totally stress-free, we really enjoyed our big day!! This was definitely the best money we spent on our wedding, I would recommend them to anyone looking for a planner!!

Doug & Glenn are truly gifted at what they do. I did my floral and a lot of my decor with them, and I truly could not be happier with the way things turned out. I met with and spoke to Doug on several occasions, and I felt so at ease knowing they were in charge of those things. On my wedding day they had leftover flowers, so one of their team members brought over the flowers and greenery and found the most wonderful places for it. Doug & Glenn laid out a plan and timeline detailing everything we would need to have a fantastic wedding weekend, and they kept us on the ball to make sure we stuck to it! We used Doug and Glenn as our planners and coordinators for our Kentucky farm wedding in May 2017. They were wonderful throughout the planning process, and did a great job managing vendors and keeping us on schedule as the big day approached. This was particularly important for us as we live out of state and were planning the wedding from a distance. The ceremony went off without a hitch, the reception was beautifully decorated, and the overall day was magical. We received a number of comments from guests about the attention to detail throughout the day. We’d highly recommend Doug and Glenn to anyone looking for a planner/coordinator.

I met Glenn and Doug through Sarah Burton with Simply Love Studio. I attended a few of the vacation bridal school series as I spent two years planning my wedding :) and I fell in love with their work. When it came to flowers, decor, and day of coordination I knew what I wanted and Doug helped my vision come to life. I wanted a VH1 celebrity wedding and Doug made it happen. Everything from the pink uplighting, to my flower wall, to the sparkly navy linens, and floating candles, everything was perfection. Doug was great in helping me stay calm as time drew closer to the big day. Im sure he regrets giving me his cell number lol but he was nothing less than amazing. I just got my wedding album preview photos back a few days ago and there was no one else who could have helped me pull off such a beautiful wedding ceremony followed by a magical reception. Doug was a huge part of one of the happiest days of my life and I am forever grateful! I would highly recommend Doug Smith Events and Design to any bride who knows what she wants!

I host events for a nonprofit that I run and was referred to Doug Smith (Doug Smith Designs) for our floral arrangements. Sometimes I get a little weary when using new vendors because you don't always know what to expect. I have to admit that Doug Smith Designs produced the most beautiful arrangements that I've EVER had for our events and was an absolute joy to work with. Booking Doug & Glenn as our florist was the BEST decision of our wedding. From Day 1 they were so wonderful to work with. We wanted pumpkin centerpieces, wine cork boutineers with cotton blooms, lace from my mom's dress on my bouquet, ornamental cabbages, etc. Every request we had they took it above and beyond what we envisioned. My wedding morning they delivered flowers to our bridal suite. Arranged all the centerpieces. They even had beds of greenery under our pumpkins for the ceremony. Everyone has talked about how gorgeous our flowers were. Thank you Doug and Glenn! You helped make our wedding the best day!

I work with a non-profit that offers free legal services for low-income Kentucky families. Doug Smith Designs worked with us on our FCBA Pro Bono luncheon event, where we recognize the service of volunteer lawyers. Doug did an AMAZING job for us! We originally went to see Doug regarding flowers but ended up utilizing him to decorate. I love that Doug listened to us! We showed him pictures of things we thought we wanted, and he asked really great follow-up questions. Oh! And did I mention he doesn't mind you calling or texting him if you have questions? He ALWAYS made himself available and always responded promptly. The end result was the church was absolutely beautiful! Doug suggested that we repurpose the flowers from the ceremony and use them at the reception (saved us some money!) :-) Can I just say---the church and the reception venue was absolutely georgeous! Our friends and family are still talking about the smell of the fresh flowers and how beautifully decorated the church and reception venue were.

My bouquet was amazing! I couldn't believe how beautiful it was! The table settings were perfect, as well. The grooms boutonniere was great as well. The only issue was someone put the flowers in the fridge for the mom's and forgot to tell anyone.. so, sadly, those went to waste. But, not the florists fault! Thank you!!!!!

Words cannot express how fantastic Doug and Glenn were being the Floral Designers for my daughters wedding as well as the wedding coordinators! The flowers and all of the decor was absolutely breathtaking, from the church to the reception site. They have such a keen eye for what looks amazing, that we let them advise us every step of the way and they did not disappoint! We were speechless when they took us in to see the reception room before the doors were opened! It was truly breathtaking! We also used Doug and Glenn as our wedding coordinators, and the rehearsal as well as the entire wedding day was stress free and went off perfectly! We took their advice every step of the way, and they had a timeline for us and all of our vendors down to the minute! Their attentiveness to the smallest detail will amaze you! Just like this morning when I texted them asking if the Priest had the marriage license to be filed they informed us they had it and they take care of that for their couples! A wedding can be a stressful time, but not with Doug and Glenn! I cannot recommend them highly enough, I wish there was a ten plus rating because a five does not do them justice! We feel we have made great friends with Doug and Glenn, they are fun, caring, easy to talk to and work with, and experts in floral design as well as wedding coordinators! If you want the perfect wedding down to every last detail, they are your choice!

We called Doug Smith Designs after reading the positive reviews from other clients. After we met him for floral design, we decided to retain him for coordination services also. It was the best decision that we made for the wedding. He is prompt in returning emails. He thinks of every detail. His floral arrangements looked like something out of a magazine. He took our daughter's vision and created her dream wedding at Keene Place. He even dropped a wedding emergency kit by her hotel the morning of the wedding. My husband and I were able to be guests at the wedding because of Doug. Doug makes things happen. He is absolutely 100% dedicated to the event, and I cannot emphasize enough how integral he was in making the wedding stress free and completely enjoyable.

If you're looking for a wedding planner, this is the only place you need to look. This was easily the best decision of the entire planning process. Everyone kept telling me that the wedding day will be a blur and you won't remember anything, but that was not the case. The day went fast, but Doug and Glenn's priority was for us to ENJOY our wedding and that is exactly what we did. I didn't have to worry about anything. We were so well taken care of, including the bridal party. Everyone you care about, they care about. I was able to enjoy every aspect of the day and experience it! Doug and Glenn took care of everything. Extremely pleasurable, professional and educated. Any questions I had, any vendors I said, they knew of everything. We were in the best hands. This is a day that only comes once and I couldn't imagine trusting anyone else to take care of the day for us. I felt relaxed all day, and didn't have to worry about a single thing. On top of being the most effective planners, they created the most beautiful floral display. They made our wedding visions a reality. Everyone at the wedding were in awe of the floral display at the ceremony, and the displays throughout the venue. And, my bouquet was truly something out of a magazine. If you are planning any event, but especially a wedding, I recommend Doug Smith Designs above anyone else. The amount of involvement for the price is truly a great value. I plan to use them for all my future events!

Doug and Glenn took our event to the next level. When facilitating a fundraising event it is hard to make the case to invest in décor. However, Doug and Glenn fit us so well. They elevated the experience for our guests and took our event to a more elegant level. I did not have one person ask or create concern around the investment, rather they said, "Wow! How have we not done this before?!" I love working with them and communicating with them. After discussion with our venue coordinator, they were able to bring the feeling we hope to convey to our guests, to life. I was so impressed with how organized they were. They were the only moving piece I did not have to give a second thought about. They are the BEST!

I cannot thank Doug and Glenn enough for their time, efforts and execution of my daughter's wedding. They took the vision and turned it into a reality. They went above and beyond what a vendor would do, and became friends assisting with the event. They thought of every detail and made sure everything the day of stayed on the timeline. It was so nice to have people we trusted so much in our corner and taking care of our decor on such a stressful day. Doug and Glenn were absolutely amazing, and I recommend everyone to just put your trust in their hands. Their vision was better than anything I could have imagined and they brought so much life to our venues. They were also there for support the entire time, always having other venue suggestions and checking in to see how the planning was going. I definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone. We've gotten more compliments on the decor at our ceremony site and reception than I can count- thank goodness I had them!

From the beginning of planning our wedding, to the day we stood at the altar to say our vows, Doug and Glenn were absolutely essential to making it all come together the way we had dreamed. We first met these two the same month we got engaged, and it was immediately clear that they shared our vision and knew how to make it all come together. A few months before the wedding, we decided to hire them as our event coordinators, and I can honestly say that this is the single best decision we ever made! They were so helpful in making sure we had every detail taken care of, and on the day of the wedding Glenn made sure that the entire time was enjoyable and stress free. When we finally saw the look of our ceremony and reception space, it literally took our breath away--from the beautiful centerpieces, to the amazing bridal bouquets; every single detail was meticulously assembled to represent everything we wanted and more. We could not have imagined a more perfect wedding without Doug and Glenn and would highly recommend these two amazing people to anyone looking to have an unforgettable day!

Doug and Glenn were absolutely amazing! From the day I met them, till the day of the wedding, they were on top of everything. I was the first daughter to get married, so this was a new experience for my mother and family. They kept us on track and were there whenever we needed them. Constantly in contact and always helpful. These two gentlemen are delightful to be around and truly a pleasure to work with.
The flowers were flawless and my bouquet was extraordinary! I was in awe of their work, literally in AWE!
As coordinators they were professional and personal. I felt as though I had known them for ages. They guided the day and made every detail perfect. The ballroom was a masterpiece and more than I could have ever dreamt of.
My husband and I are blessed to have been able to not only work with Doug and Glenn but have the chance to meet such wonderful people!

Doug provided flowers for a wedding rehearsal dinner (as well as the wedding, but my interaction was for the rehearsal dinner). He also recommended the venue for the rehearsal dinner, which ended up being a wonderful venue that suited our needs quite well. We wanted something simple to complement the flowers for the wedding, but we did not want to replicate what the bride was doing for the wedding reception. Doug utilized some of the smaller flowers featured in the arrangements for the wedding and we draped these around the necks of custom labeled wine bottles (in keeping with a vineyard theme) which were placed on the tables as centerpieces. We received many compliments on the arrangements and creativity of the idea. The flowers were fresh and were delivered to the venue well in advance of the dinner. Working with Doug was a very positive experience and I would highly recommend him.

I have known Doug and Glenn for some time now and when it came to selecting a flower and decor vendor, I knew I wanted them from the start. I am a person that likes to be in control of every aspect of an event. It is difficult to just "trust" but with Doug and Glenn, you can do that. They know what they are doing and they do it very well. We had a short period of time to get the wedding planned because the venue was available in 5 short months and they never missed a beat. I provided pictures and ideas and they took them even further to make it spectacular. The flowers, the communication, the decor, everything was just perfect! I would recommend them to anyone for any event!!
