Seriously The Best!!!

Doug was absolutely amazing!! He played at our ceremony and cocktail hour and our guests are still raving about his performance. We had an issue during the ceremony where we actually forgot the rings and Doug was able to improvise some beautiful music that absolutely fit with our theme. Really couldn't recommend him more!

Provided the BEST music experience for my party!

It was such a wonderful experience to have Doug Anthony play at our Parade 2 Uplift donor and volunteer appreciation party! His music variety made it a memorable event and provided just the right amount of rhythm for the event! Doug Anthony is very professional. We will def use him again!

Our guests couldn’t stop commenting on how much they enjoyed the music at both our ceremony and reception. Doug is amazingly talented and really responsive. We highly recommend him!!!

Professional, Great Guitarist!

Doug is a great addition to have at your wedding. We used his services for our ceremony and cocktail hour and were so happy with his performance. All of our guests enjoyed his acoustic playing during cocktail hour and thought he played a good variety of songs. He was very responsive from the beginning when reaching out for a quote and made sure to answer any questions I had about songs as well as provide samples that he did not have on his website. Really great guitarist, you won't be disappointed.

Talented, Professional, and Polished

I recently attended the wedding of a good friend of mine and, as someone who used to work in the industry, I wanted to take the time to acknowledge this musician, Doug Anthony. I've hired my share of bands, duets, trios etc., and Mr. Anthony impressed me with his attention in reading the crowd; he knew when to play a softer background and when to pep it up; and he can really play! By mistake, the coordinator didn't signal him on the start of the procession, but I could tell from my vantage point he was watching all the different pieces start in motion and responded accordingly. This may not sound like much but, for weddings when everything has to be perfect, this instinct is highly credible. For those who appreciate live music done right, with the right look and know-how, I would recommend this guy.

4-27-19 Guitar instrumental

I booked Doug well in advance of my wedding. He was and is professional, courteous and pleasant to work with. We emailed back and forth several times regarding music and timing. He even made helpful suggestions and offered tips. He showed up promptly on our wedding day 4-27-19 and played beautifully for the pre-seating, ceremony and cocktail hour which I had requested. So lovely and his music added a different flair to our wedding. Thank you so much Doug, you were worth every penny and I enjoyed listening to the music as I walked down the aisle. Thank you!!!

Rehearsal dinner entertainment

Doug did an amazing job. He was professional and very easy to work with. He played a selection of music that we picked and is an amazing guitarist. I would recommend him for any event and I will definitely use him in the future!

Amazing job!!

So we went with Doug for our ceremony and the cocktail hour. You save money by going with an individual and we couldn’t have asked for a better professional/artist than Doug! He responded almost immediately to any emails I sent, he played beautifully(really, his videos don’t do him justice), he was the most reasonably priced...I mean why wouldn’t you go with him!?

Talented and Easy to work with

Doug is amazing! He was extremely easy to communicate with through email. Everyone at the wedding continues to talk about how much they enjoyed having an acoustic guitarist to listen to during our casual dinner-party style wedding.

Best Decision of the Wedding!

Doug was amazing to work with. Last minute he even learned a song for my walk down the aisle and it was perfect. I wasn't sure what to expect for acoustic guitar music for the entire wedding but he was fantastic! We didn't even give him a playlist, he just played and people loved it. Highly recommend him!!!

A++++ Service. Doug is an incredible talent and his beautiful music made our wedding complete. His communications were quick and he always stayed on top of what needed to be changed or amended. Everything flowed flawlessly. I would highly recommend Doug. At the last minute I had some unusual requests and he was took care of every request. Those helping with the wedding said he was a joy to work with. Nice fella! Thanks Doug! You're the BEST anyone could book for an event in all of Austin! Feel sorry for those that don't live here that have to use someone else!

Doug was amazing. He has a wide range of genres to make your wedding special. We had a pre-ceremony reception where Doug played (as well as the ceremony) and he did a fantastic job. Doug is an excellent musician and I highly recommend him! He played the ceremony music at both my son's Sept. 2016 and my daughter's April 2018 weddings. His song selections are perfect and the acoustic guitar melodies are beautiful. He was on time and prepared at both weddings. Although both weddings were outdoors, we had an unexpected temperature drop to the 40s at my daughter's recent April wedding. It was not exactly the Spring day we had envisioned, but Doug was a real trooper and played beautifully even in the frigid temps. He continued to play for the cocktail hour following the ceremony as planned, even though the guests moved inside due to the weather. My daughter and new son-in-law enjoyed the background music as they continued taking photos, but my sincere apologies to Doug for not noticing and suggesting he end early or move inside. He is a true professional and I hope to have the opportunity to enjoy his music again in the future.

I recently had the pleasure of having Doug play during my wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. He was very accommodating and responsive during the whole process. He played beautifully on our wedding day and we are so thankful and happy to of had him as part of our special day. I would recommend Doug to anyone that is need of a solo guitarist.

Five stars all the way. I could not recommend Doug Anthony more highly. He is incredibly talented and also wonderful to work with. I was planning my wedding from afar and I really appreciated how responsive and communicative he was. He played our ceremony and also during our dinner. Both were just perfect. Doug was so wonderful to work with! He provided a very extensive list of songs for us to select from for our processional and recessional and he was willing to learn one new song for us as well! Doug's gift created the most beautiful soundtrack for our wedding. His melodies served as a perfect backdrop to our wedding ceremony and reception. We received numerous compliments from our guests. Many enjoyed guessing each song he performed. He was extremely professional, highly responsive and went out of his way to arrive early to ensure that he was set up on time. It was effortless. Doug was recommended to us by our wedding officiant. After reading his reviews we decided to contact him. His diverse playlist of songs ranged from Amazing Grace to music by Led Zeppelin. He played each song that we chose so beautifully. His music was the perfect addition to our small ceremony. Doug is professional, easy to work with and accommodating. We are so glad we chose him as our guitarist. We would recommend him to anyone looking for a musician and we would chose him again to play at any of our special events.

We contacted Doug only a couple of weeks prior to our daughters wedding at Dulcinea Chapel. The wedding was just the bride & groom (along with a photographer).
Doug was superb in his promptness of responding to all of my emails and we had absolutely no problems with anything.
My husband & I selected only two songs for him to play-the first & last. We left the remainder up to him & his expertise. He suggested that he could play our first choice, Pachelbel's Canon in D, as bride was walking up the hill so there would be music in the air. Just lovely.
As the wedding was in early April, I kept reading forecasts of rain. He continually eased my worries and answered all emails quickly. I even called him a few times!
The newlyweds were so thrilled to have music at their intimate ceremony. It truly made their day special. They had nothing but praise for Doug, loved the music and how very nice he was to talk with. He even gave them restaurant suggestions.
Though I have never met Doug, I would highly recommend him for any event.
He is prompt, professional and thorough with all details.
I just wish I could have enjoyed his music live & in person. I still occasionally listen to his music video clips on his website.
You will not be disappointed with Doug Anthony at your venue.

We give Doug Anthony a rating of 5 in each category. Not only was he quick to respond to all of my emails, but he was professional and knew exactly how to read my guest and knew what songs to play. It was tough to chose from the list of songs on his website and he assured me not to worry, he knew exactly what to do and he did! Doug is AMAZING!! I live in Houston but I got married at Chapel Dulcinea in Austin on Feb. 18, 2017 and just a couple months before the wedding my music plan for the ceremony fell through. I found Doug on Gig Masters and he replied to my MULTIPLE emails promptly and answered my MILLION questions (yes, I’m that annoying bride lol) Doug didn’t make me feel like a burden at all though.
So its the BG DAY and I barely emailed him that morning to tell him what song I wanted to walk down to since I was having a hard time to decide which wasn’t a problem for him at all! He had me pay my balance via paypal while I was getting ready which was super fast and easy and I didn’t have to worry about doing the transaction at the wedding venue in front of our guests. There’s a long trail before you get to the chapel and I couldn’t see anything or anyone..but I could HEAR the music and it was so soft, romantic and lovely and that’s when everything got REAL and exciting for me. He was absolutely perfect and he sat in the corner (dressed very nicely btw..) where he can still be seen and heard but not take the spotlight (duh, that’s my job lol)
He was the least of my worries. He answered my questions, I paid him, and he got there and immediately set up.. simple as that! I am so glad I found him and I would recommend him to anyone and everyone! Sorry of the long review…the experience was just so perfect that I had to explain!!

First of all, I'd like to say that we were planning our wedding from 375 miles away. We didn't even meet Doug until the big day. We communicated entirely via email, yet never once did I have a worry about Doug! He provided pre-ceremony, ceremony and cocktail hour music for our small, outdoor wedding. Doug played at our wedding ceremony in October 2016. He has a wonderful talent with the acoustic guitar. We had an outdoor ceremony so we thought it best to have an acoustic guitarist play. From Doug’s list of music, we chose a few key songs but let him choose the rest by reading our guests. When his song list didn’t include the song we had wanted as the recessional, he offered to learn it. He was quick with correspondence via email and flexible when it came to scheduling. His professionalism and talent made him a great choice for our wedding.

Doug was timely, easy to contact and flexible. His contract was accurate & straight forward. We booked him about a few months or less prior to our wedding event and luckily had the pleasure of his musicianship attend & serenade us! He kept us informed when he receieved our mailed items (contract & deposit) & when it got closer to the event date, he checked in by confirming the date, his time of arrival to include set up, and to make sure the same plans were in place regarding a requested song off his playlist as well as a few select songs to play for the ceremony. Upon wedding day, he arrived on time, at the time he stated he would, and easily fit in by setting up his equipment. We had extra chairs available for him, if needed, but he had his own-prepared and self sufficient. Our ceremony was outdoors while our reception was indoors to which Doug easily transitioned from each area, even fitting in a small nook of our living room without batting an eye! We asked him to choose the majority of the playlist with the exception of a special request made in previous contacts & particular ceremony songs. He willingly learned the special request song and played it to our family's joy during the reception. His go with the flow style was perfect for the relaxed environment we wanted to create. His song selections & acoustic skills felt and sounded natural. Thank you, Doug for your professionalism. You were worth every penny =] We would gladly recommend you to anybody!

Doug was a perfect choice for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. I chose the ceremony songs based on his recommendations (he made it so easy for me since I had no clue), and then I let him pick everything else for the cocktail hour and reception. I had my concerns about what songs might be played or if people would get tired of hearing the guitar for so long (we did not book a band). All of his song choices were perfect, very pleasant and the guitar playing did not get old at all. I couldn't be happier that we used him for the wedding. Everyone else enjoyed his music, as well. We found Doug through a friend who recently got married and suggested him. Doug is very responsive to emails and very flexible to work with. Where to start? I guess I will just sum it up in one word...AWESOME. Doug was great from the first time we contacted him. He stayed in touch with us regularly about the details of our wedding/reception and was eager to provide any special requests we may have. Very easy to work with and very flexible. We initially asked Doug to perform at our ceremony and it wasn't until about 2-3 weeks before our wedding date that we asked if he could also do our reception. Doug was more than happy to accommodate us. He also was helpful with details about our specific venues that we would not have known otherwise. I think my favorite thing was the fact that he asked what the groomsmen were wearing and wore the exact same type of shirt (guayabera). His videos are great but I think the live performance was even better. Almost every guest complimented his performance and asked for his name/info. Several guests made comments like "this guy knows how to play EVERYTHING!" My wife and I were both talking about how we hope we have another event in the future somewhere nearby so that we can have Doug perform again. If you are reading this review just stop looking and book Doug and I promise you will be 100% happy.

We booked Doug for my wedding in Fredericksburg. His communication was extremely professional and was very detailed in his questions to make sure that his music was on point with our wedding. Doug Anthony is extremely talented and professional. His music was a delight during our ceremony and the reception. Many people have made comments to me since the event that they enjoyed his song selection and his presence. Highly recommend.

Mr. Anthony was just so wonderful during our ceremony. He kept on playing, keeping my guests comfortably waiting as I was thirty minutes late for arrival. I feel so fortunate and blessed to have had him play at my ceremony! I could not have asked for such a most perfect day without him. Thank you Doug! Love always, Mrs. Herrera.

Doug really knows what he's doing. My wife and I had our wedding earlier this month and he had a better handle on what was going on than the wedding/event planner we hired. He knew how to get the guests to move, sit, and be quiet. Ha! The power of music. But what a guitarist. Outside of the traditional wedding ceremony music we wanted, we asked him for background jazz during the reception, and man he delivered. We've had some awesome parties with DJs but the way our guests responded to Doug is what made the memory. Such a talent this guy has.

Having grown up in Austin, live music at our wedding was a must. It's very much a part of my and my husband's lives so finding the right band was a big factor for us. Other family members thought we were putting too much emphasis on the music but after attending our reception, they saw why. The music set the tone for the whole event; Doug really knew how to get the energy going and read the crowd perfectly. My wonderful, loving husband likes to think of himself as an undiscovered rock star so I knew his standards would be high on who got his vote. I was most concerned about the quality of the solo parts and their overall professionalism.

Really, choosing Doug was the best decision we made for our reception. After meeting him, we both knew he was the perfect choice. His level of professionalism, his prompt replies to all my emails, and his level of experience in working with brides! Ha! When I asked him to tell me his worst bridezilla story, he said there was no such thing (awesome answer). I wish all the experiences I had in working with vendors had been that easy.

Doug was kind and courteous. Very responsive to our needs and is very talented. We had positive feedback from virtually everyone in attendance. Brought great atmosphere to the wedding. Would definitely hire Doug again.

Doug Anthony provided the ceremony music for our wedding this past weekend. He played while our guests arrived, played during the ceremony, and played while our guests were on the way out for our reception. Doug was on time, offered to play for the reception if our band wasn't able to set up on time, and was more than professional.
We bused our guests to our location and prior to picking them up, a bus broke down. The bus company was unable to contact us to let us know, so we had to postpone the ceremony for 30 mins. Doug never questioned the delay, he just simply proceeded to entertain our guests with a variety of music, never skipping a beat.
I would, without hesitation, recommend Doug for any type of event as we are still receiving compliments about out ceremony music.

What can I say? Doug is an outstanding musician. He did a fantastic job playing for our wedding ceremony and reception. I sincerely could not have been happier with his performance and professionalism from beginning to end.

Recommended by my planner, BirdDogWeddings, Doug was accommodating and flexible, willing to arrange a couple songs he hadn't played before - a tall order for a rock song played as a solo number. Hire Doug if you'd to set a sophisticated, subtle vibe (he can play anything from Django to Led Zeppelin to the wedding classics). Thanks, Doug!

Doug was great- he is a beautiful guitarist. He agreed to play a song that is not on his playlist for me to walk down the isle to. The music was perfect and added so much to our day. We are very grateful for his being a part of our wedding.
