EXCELLENT wedding makeup and hair professional

Donna and her team are absolutely AMAZING! I've been a bridesmaid a few times with her at the helm, and when it came time for me to walk down the aisle, the choice was obvious to book her for hair and makeup for myself and my girls.

She and her top hair person came to my apartment for my trial (and even did a trial for my now mother in law) - so no need to go to a salon. They were able to work with my clip in extensions, and make sure I got everything I wanted in my (I will admit) meticulous requests.

I could not be happier with how my hair and makeup turned out for my wedding day, but also, they were able to get through NINE of my close girl friends for either hair or makeup plus both hair and makeup for my MOH, MOB, AND MOG and I! Just two women! So speedy and everyone looked so good!!

Payment via venmo was so easy and they were prompt and so sweet! I would absolutely hire them again for any other events!!

Amazing!!! I am forever grateful to Donna and Jen from Donna Lance Hair and Makeup! From the very beginning, Donna was extremely kind, responsive, and honest. She made me feel so comfortable even though I booked her service somewhat last minute. Jen came to my house for a hair trial and did a beautiful style. We had so much fun chatting and getting to know one another. Even though I loved the style, I changed my mind a few weeks later and Donna and Jen were more than accomodating to help me set up another trial. For this trial, I visited Jen's beautiful hair studio, Antoine's Salon in Ridgewood. We had margaritas and spinach dip and did a re-trial which turned out more than amazing. The day of the wedding Donna and Jen came to my apartment and were more than amazing despite the tiny apartment and tons of ladies! They gave each bridesmaid a beautiful style unique to everyone's individual personality. They were flexible and open-minded and were a fun addition to the wedding day! It wouldn't have been the same without them. I had multiple comments from guests on just how beautiful all the hair and makeup specifically was. I would honestly recommend these women to anyone who needs hair and makeup for any event. They are truly genuine people who you can trust to do an amazing job. I will always remember the special role they played in my wedding. Thank you so much!!

I heard about Donna Lance from a friend who got married and I trusted her judgement on everything! Donna is professional, always on time, and an expert at what she does. She can match colors with you just by looking at your face and skin tone. I showed her a picture of what I wanted to look like and that is exactly what I ended up looking like. My mother, my bridesmaids and I all stayed flawless all night even through dance floor sweat! THANK YOU!

I used Donna Lance for my makeup for myself and my wedding party on my wedding day. I am very picky with how my makeup is done, and Donna exceeded all of my expectations. She is absolutely unbelievable. Her work is flawless. I felt stunning and all of my bridesmaids did as well. She is professional, values your time and wants to make sure everyone feels beautiful and comfortable. I received SO many compliments. She is a magician! I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who wants perfect makeup for their wedding. Thank you Donna!

Donna and Kim did my makeup and hair, respectively, for my wedding in October 2015. They are professional, talented and wonderful people to work with! My hair and makeup, along with that of my 5 bridesmaids and mother-in-law's, looked exquisite and stayed in all night! I looked glamorous, stunning and received compliments all night long! They both made me completely relaxed and at ease, even when we started to run a bit late (no fault of their own.) I definitely recommend them both for your wedding!

Donna really saved the day when it came to my makeup. I had originally done a trial with my hair salon and was incredibly disappointed. I very quickly started calling friends for other recommendations and found Donna. It was by-far one of the easiest wedding appointments! Donna knew exactly what I was looking for, even though I couldn't really articulate it well. She also accommodated me on short notice and worked around my work-travel schedule.

On the day of the wedding, she was fantastic! She finished everyone on-time and everyone was so happy with the end result. She was able to create the exact look everyone was looking for. I can't thank Donna enough for squeezing us in! She made me feel stunning when it counted the most.

Donna and Rana did an amazing job with my wedding makeup and hair! I couldn't be any happier with how everything turned out. With that said, I just have to say that I looked at tons of MUAs and hairstylists online in my area but could not find anyone as flexible as Donna. My wedding ceremony was at 11am and our first look photos at 8:30am, so I needed on site hair and makeup super early in the morning. All of my bridesmaids wanted to do their own hair and makeup, so it was nearly impossible for me to find someone to come on site that early for JUST the bride. I am so glad that I came across Donna because I don't know what I would have done otherwise.

She and Rana arrived the day of promptly at 7am and they were done under an hour. I had done a trial a few months ago for my engagement shoot, but decided I wanted a completely different look for my actual wedding day and after quickly looking at the photos I provided, Donna and Rana were able to recreate it with no problems. My hair and makeup held up all day despite the 90 degree August weather and my sweating. I looked picture perfect from start to finish and even though it was more makeup than I'm used to wearing, it looked natural without being overdone in photos. I received endless compliments from everyone - thank you Donna and Rana for making me feel so beautiful on my big day!

Donna Lance is amazing!! I told her I don't wear much makeup daily, and wanted a very natural bridal look. She delivered just that!! I loved the air brush makeup. Stayed on all night long. Donna was very punctual and professional during the trial and day of. Thank you Donna for the perfect bridal look!!

Donna and her team are fantastic. We had six of us total and everyone's hair and makeup was awesome. All the girls and moms were so happy. My hair was gorgeous for twelve hours and my sister kept hers in until the next night and still looked great. We had Donna as a referral from my sister who was in a wedding that used her and her team and it was the best decision ever. She is so easy to work with and her communication was great. Thanks again for making us gorgeous!

I recently used Donna Lance for my daughter's Quinceanera on April 18, 2015. I would highly recommend Donna Lance. She was incredibly reliable, flexible, and did a fantastic job on the make-up of my guests both young and old. I will definitely use Donna for my next event!!!

I was so glad to have Donna and Rana for makeup and hair for my wedding day. Donna and Rana worked quickly and efficiently to get myself, 6 bridesmaids, and moms ready EARLY! It definitely made all of the difference to have a calm and relaxing morning/afternoon without being rushed from hair/makeup to pictures. For 9 people we started around 8:30am and were finished within about 4 hours. Everyone's hair and makeup was absolutely beautifully done and lasted all day. Towards the end we still had time for touch ups on all of the girls. Donna's prices were very reasonable compared to other vendors and they included eyelashes. I would definitely recommend Donna and Rana for hair and makeup to anyone for their wedding.

I have tried other makeup artist with no luck. My overall satisfaction wasn't complete. When I found Donna Lance was total satisfaction. The professionalism and quality of service was superv! I met Donna several years ago and she has come to my home several times for events. She did my wedding and several other black tie events. These two women, Donna & Rana, are the "Dynamic Duo"!!! You will look flawless through your evening, yet not overdone. I would never go anywhere "special" and not use them. I have referred them to several friends and everyone thinks they are the absolute best!!!! Donna took care of my makeup to make sure that I felt confident and beautiful for my engagement. I have booked her already for my wedding because she is a pleasure to work with and I know that I will look and feel my best on what will be the best day of my life. I am the type of woman who doesn't like heavy makeup and I was very nervous to look "made up, " I explained to Donna only once about the natural/subtle look I was going for and she communicated so well with me with everything she did and and that was so reassuring. Donna and her team were fabulous! After doing two hair trials with Donna prior to my wedding, the team was able to merge different aspects of each into my final wedding day look. I absolutely loved my look, and I received so many compliments on my hair and make-up.

The bridesmaids' hair and make-up also looked amazing! From start to finish, the entire hair and make-up process was seamless - it's truly so much more relaxing having someone come to you on your wedding day rather than trekking to a salon. I highly recommend working with Donna.

I couldn't be happier with the hair and makeup for my wedding. I chose Donna at first because she had more reasonable prices than many other freelance hair & makeup companies. I also wanted to hire one company and not have to look for separate hair and makeup. My bridesmaids and mom looked amazing and my sister's hair stayed curled all day, which is almost impossible to do. My hair had to be done twice because it was a little too "big" the first time, but the second time was exactly what I had envisioned. I didn't even think my hair could do what I wanted, but it was perfect and stayed all day and night including pictures at the beach. My makeup also stayed all day and night without a problem. I don't think I ever even checked on it because it didn't budge. And, the fake lashes were free!

Donna did my wedding day makeup as well as the makeup for 2 of my bridesmaids and my mom. She arrived early, and was very flexible given that we were running late getting started. She did an amazing job on all of us. When I had my trial with her a few months before the wedding, I told her I wanted to look natural with even skin and for my eyes to pop, and that I wanted some purple incorporated. She did exactly what I wanted and did it perfectly. I opted for the airbrush which I'm very happy about. My skin looked flawless but not like I was wearing a ton of makeup. My eyes had the perfect amount of purple and I feel as if I looked the best I probably ever have. It was hot and humid and we had an outdoor ceremony, and my makeup held up very well under the conditions. My mom looked fabulous too, as well as my sister and my friend. We were all so happy with the outcome. Donna is also super nice and calm. We had a ton of people running around the bridal suite and it didn't affect her at all. She was so focused and efficient.

Her prices were also very reasonable for the area.

We also used Rhonda for our hair and she was great as well. I wanted to change my hair a little bit from what I had done at the trial and she executed it perfectly. She was also able to do hair for 4 of my bridesmaids and my mom with no problem. They hadn't even done a trial but she found hairstyles that worked on each of them individually and they all looked amazing. She also works fast and we had no problem getting through 5 people total. Her and Donna make a great team.

So happy with my wedding hair and makeup

Donna and Christine were amazing! They did my sister's wedding so I knew I was in good hands, but I am so happy with how it turned out. We had a trial and they worked with me to have me look exactly how I want - even going lighter on the eyeliner since I don't wear a lot of makeup. Day of, they were so much fun and put on some fun music to lighten the mood. They were chatting with us all day and really made it a fun time instead of a nervous/anxious time. They did me, my sister, and my mom, and all 3 of us had different desires and Donna and Christine made sure we were all happy with our looks. I was able to be fully confident in how I looked on my wedding day thanks to them!

I booked Donna Lance after my first hair trial went poorly. We communicated through email and she was always prompt with her responses. I was an out-of-state bride and she was flexible and worked with my schedule to squeeze a trial in a week before my wedding. Hair stylist Vanessa took care of my hair and I absolutely loved how it came out. She was easy to work with and listen to my bridesmaids and my own concerned and hesitations then fixed or adjusted anything we wanted. Justine was the other stylist for my bridesmaids and they all loved how their hair came out as well. The girls were great and showed up early which was awesome. I would recommend using Donna Lance...they also do make-up, however, I had already booked my make-up artist so I don't have experience there.

Thank you Vanessa, Justine and Donna for making me feel beautiful on my wedding day and making all 8 of my bridesmaids happy and gorgeous!

Glam Squad At It’s Finest! Dynamic Duo is the best way to describe Donna and Rana. The girls are hair and makeup ROCKSTARS. They are so talented! Needless to say I was over joyed with my decision to work with them for my wedding. Donna’s style is natural, enhancing a girl’s natural beauty and playing up her best features, which is what I love about her work. My husband’s one request was that I didn’t look over done on our wedding day and Donna was the right person to make that happen! And Rana can do anything and everything with hair. Up, down, curls, pins, etc. no request was too tough for her! The girls were efficient (had 7 girls getting their hair done and 5 girls getting make up done – both including the bride), finishing their glam duties 45 mins early! Their pricing was reasonable as compared to others and they were local for me which really played into my decision considering my wedding was on a Friday and city traffic Friday AM can be a beast. I would recommend Donna and Rana to anyone. LOVED the girls and their work!! Thanks Donna & Rana

This review is for Donna and Jen (for hair). They were friendly, professional, on time, and did a beautiful job on everyone's hair and makeup for the most part. My makeup was perfect and I really liked my hair. However, there are a couple of major negatives--one of my eyelashes came loose (which Donna knew I was nervous about beforehand due to a trial I had before finding Donna) during pictures and before the reception! I forgot my glue but my cousin had a tube so she tried to reapply it as best as she could. And I never got to see my hair completely sadly (due to veil for ceremony and pictures) because the majority of the curl was gone even before I got to the reception! It was a hot day, but my usual hair stylist saw my pictures and said that with more spray it should have definitely held longer and better, not to mention the clip-in extensions which always hold well. So I would possibly use them for an event or a night out, but given the negatives I'm not so sure I'd use them if I'm going to be the center of attention both in person and on camera like on a wedding day.

Positives:
-Most importantly, I felt beautiful on our wedding day. I loved the way my hair and make up came out. It stayed on and stayed in for the entire night! Even my teenage male cousins had the nicest compliments for me :)
-My 7 bridesmaids looked naturally gorgeous. Only my maid of honor's hair fell.
-When I did a trial with Donna and Rana, before I even got to my brother's wedding, my hair came out. Bobby pins were falling out left and right. Donna and Rana offered to do a retrial free of charge.
-Nine people got both their hair and make up done on our wedding day and we were finished about twenty minutes ahead of schedule.

Negative:
I had read in a review that for another (smaller sized) wedding, Donna came to do the bride's make up and then left while the assistant did the two bridesmaids'. Because of this, I made sure to have included in our contract that Donna, Rana and the assistant would be with us from 9:30am until 1pm. A few weeks before our big day, I emailed Donna to confirm. Donna told me that the assistant would be arriving at 9:30am but that she and Rana would be arriving around 11 after they did another wedding. I reminded Donna of our contract, but she told me she would never book herself out for for that long?

Donna and I eventually spoke on the phone; I explained that I was now nervous about timing because I couldn't see how 9 girls could get hair and make up done in 2 hours if they didn't arrive until 11am. I explained that I booked her based on my experience with her and Rana and that I did not want an assistant doing the majority of our services. I feel badly for the other bride that morning, but Donna did compromise with me. On the day of, the assistant and Rana arrived at 9:30am and Donna arrived around 10am.

Save Yourself the Stress and Choose a Different Hair and Makeup Team

I got married on 9/10/22 and hired Donna Lance and her team for hair and makeup for 10 girls. After my experience, I would not recommend them to any bride.

Short Version:

Donna informed me the day before my wedding that they would be an hour late, the morning of the wedding sent a hair stylist who ended up being intoxicated, and then Donna ended up arriving two hours late before charging me full price for her services.

Full Details:

I had my trial in November 2021 and signed a contract with Donna in February 2022. At the time of contract signing, Donna was given the number of clients and the location of the wedding venue. She originally recommended one stylist for hair, but in July 2022 I requested a second stylist and an earlier start time so that no one felt rushed and she informed me that it would be no issue. It was agreed upon that the start time would be 9am and she was reminded that we would need to be ready at 2pm for photos.

The afternoon before our wedding I was informed that they would be an hour late, with a planned arrival time of 10:00-10:15am due to transportation issues. I was assured that we would still be finished by 2pm and that no one would feel rushed. I reminded her of our agreed upon 9am start time and she agreed to send her first hair stylist to the location at 9am although Donna and the second stylist, Jen, would be late.

The first stylist Amy was on time and ready to start hair at 9am, but we soon realized something was wrong when she began to doze off while styling the girl’s hair and took multiple breaks and trips to the bathroom, which made much more sense when one of my bridesmaids saw her pouring vodka into her travel coffee mug. At this point Amy was visibly intoxicated and incapable of doing her job. She was slurring her words, falling asleep, and attempted to put my maid of honors hair in a bun no less than 3 times without success. There was no direct communication to me from Donna or Jen that morning, and they did not arrive and start their services at the venue until approximately 11am (one hour after their already late ETA, two hours after the contracted start time).

Once they arrived, Donna and her second stylist Jen were professional and quick. They did a great job on everyone’s hair and makeup and everyone was finished by 2pm despite having to redo every style that Amy had attempted earlier. Donna claimed she was late because the “venue was further away than she thought”, which is an unacceptable excuse in todays age of technology considering that she was aware of the location of the venue from the signing of our contract last year.

Donna ended up having to call an Uber/Lyft for Amy and sending her home because she was unable to do her job. Although, one of my bridesmaids saw her wandering around our venue hours later so I’m not sure how or when she ended up getting home.

At 2pm, after our hair and makeup was complete, Donna calculated the total of the services with no breakdown of cost. I did not question the price and promptly paid her the amount she requested because at this point I just wanted them to leave so that we could continue on with our day. I tipped her and Jen despite the events of the day because all of the girls did look great and Donna did finish on time as promised. She then “apologized for causing me stress” and left.

I received a text message from Donna the next morning apologizing for being late and informing me that Amy had been removed from the company. She asked for photos of the girls hair and makeup styles and refunded me $100 for the trouble, less than 4% of what I paid including tip. Needless to say, I did not answer her message.

I would not want any other bride to have to experience this level of unprofessionalism. As a wedding vendor, she had no respect for her clients time and was difficult to deal with throughout the entire process (she was late to my trial and rushed through the process then as well). I was looking to save some money on hair and makeup, which was a huge mistake. I should never have booked Donna and I suggest other brides to spend their money elsewhere.

Stylist showed up an hour late. She had to rush through the BRIDE'S, MOTHER-OFTHE BRIDE, MAID -OF-HONOR hair. ALL 3 hair styles fell out within 2 hours! When we complained Donna Lance was NOT the least bit sorry for our terrible hair in the reception shots!!!!
She over charged us and we are waiting for our the difference.
I would NOT recommend DONNA LANCE MAKEUP AND HAIR
