DJ, Emcee, Photobooth, and Karaoke Services

We hired DJ Bert for our wedding and could not have been more ecstatic with the amazing job the whole DJ By the Bay Crew did. We hired By the Bay Productions to serve as our wedding DJ and emcee, to provide a photobooth, and to provide karaoke.
Bert was the most communicative vendor I have ever worked with, and was always happy to answer any question or concern that I had, sometimes at truly unreasonable working hours. He did an awesome job with our tedious list of song requests, and helped our wedding coordinator keep the event going as emcee.
The photobooth had free unlimited prints using a custom template that By the Bay Productions designed based on our requests, and we made it match our wedding invites, so they looked perfect. The photobooth process was super easy and very reasonably priced, and the attendant was extremely friendly.
We finished our wedding night off with karaoke, and it was a total blast. The whole event went off without a hitch. Thank you DJ By the Bay!

Amazing Experience with DJ Gabe from DJByTheBay!

We couldn’t be more thrilled with the incredible job Gabe from DJ By The Bay did at our wedding! From the moment the music started to the last song of the night, Gabe kept the energy just right and had everyone on the dance floor.

He curated the perfect mix of old favorites and current hits, which really appealed to all of our guests—young and old alike. Several people came up to us during the night specifically to compliment the DJ and how much fun they were having!

What truly set Gabe apart were the custom edits he made for our special dances. The first dance, father-daughter, and mother-son songs were timed and transitioned perfectly, adding such a personal and emotional touch to those moments.

Gabe was professional, responsive, and clearly passionate about making our day unforgettable. We wholeheartedly recommend DJ By The Bay for any event—you’ll be in great hands!

Loved our Wedding DJ!

Hands down the best decision was hiring DJ Bert and his team for DJ and Photobooth services for our wedding. The most highly received compliment from our guests was the music! It was a great vibe and made for an unforgettable night. The team was professional, gave guidance when we were trying to pick our songs for the special moments , and they customized our Photobooth template to match our theme. Great DJ team!

Bert and his team did a great job at our wedding! We had a few different sound set-ups with an outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour on a separate patio, and dinner indoors. Because of Bert's communication ahead of the event, it was a seamless day. Definitely recommend for your next event!

DJ Gabe is amazing!

We are so glad we chose DJ Gabe for our event! He provided DJ and uplighting services for our wedding in September 2021. Gabe coordinated well with our other vendors to help ensure that our event moved smoothly. The song selection matched our preferences well, and Gabe did a nice job of ensuring that songs of the same genre were played together (rather than bouncing between genres). The uplighting matched our theme well without overpowering the space. It was beautiful!

Gabe was also great with pre-wedding communication. We had a bunch of last-minute questions and song requests and Gabe was incredibly accommodating. I’m so glad we booked Gabe early and had the opportunity to work with him for our wedding!

DJ Bert is fantastic

DJ Bert was really helpful in making our wedding reception a fun and successful party. Everyone really liked the music that he played and had a great time dancing. Multiple people have asked who the DJ was and we were happy to refer them! On top of that DJ Bert was very generous with his time before the big day to plan out every detail that we wanted to plan and choosing songs. Would highly recommend DJ Bert to anyone having a party!

Great Music -- SO FUN!

Dancing is a huge part of our lives--our first kiss was on the dance floor! We knew we wanted dancing at our wedding, and were looking for a DJ who could inspire our diverse array of guests to get up and dance--from the grandmas to our going-out crew. DJ Jai delivered! Before our wedding, she came by to meet us and check out the space, then asked us to send her some of our favorite songs. She was communicative prior to the event around setup and timing. Most importantly she played AWESOME music at our reception and we had SO MUCH FUN dancing the night away. Highly recommend!

Awesome vendor to work with!

I had my wedding at the Bently Reserve on 11/17/18. This review should have been posted a month ago, but things got a bit hectic and I haven't been able to find the time until now.

First things first, I was really lucky to find Bert through work! I recently moved to the Bay Area from the east coast, and I had to plan my wedding in six months. Some of my friends in the bay recommended their wedding vendors, which was helpful (I ended up using one vendor for photography because I Iove her work). However, I was still needed a DJ/MC, lighting, and photo booth services. I picked one of the nicest venues (Bently Reserve) in the city, and it's not easy to work at this venue since there are so many restrictions. Luckily, he has experience working at this venue before, so he knows what to expect and I really like that.

From start to end, he was amazing. I booked him for Dj/MC, lighting, and photo booth services as part of a bundle (less vendors are just easier to deal with). I came to him with pictures of exactly what I wanted and pointed out certain lightings and he was able to accommodate what was requested.

MUSIC/EMCEE:
Everyone at my wedding had a great time because the music was flowing. He knows how to gauge the crowd and make sure that people are having fun. What's nice is that he was able to play certain (not mainstream) tracks that I requested on the spot. My husband really likes his mixing of the music at the reception as well.

LIGHTING:
My family and friends were also in awe at how beautiful the lighting was. If I had to look back and compare the picture (of the lighting) that I showed him during our first meeting and what my wedding actually looks like, I have to say that Bert's work was a lot better than the picture. The colors go together so nicely.

PHOTOBOOTH:
Lots of cool props! My little cousins absolutely loved them and you can see so many photos of them since they had so much fun. Even the older adults enjoyed the props. He gave me 3 different colors for photo booth print outs instead of one. He definitely went that extra mile. I got exactly what I asked for and more.

GOING THE EXTRA MILE:
1. He was very helpful in guiding me what to look for in wedding photographers and coordinators, things to reach out to with venue before bringing decors in (ie, candles), which was completely outside the scope of our agreement.

2. He even listened to me vent about my other vendor (drape) who I already paid and booked, cancelled a month before the wedding because my money was not good enough.

3. I didn't have my cell phone with me throughout the entire event and could not take any photos. And because I was so impatient to see my wedding photos (had to wait for a month), he sent me pictures and videos that he took on his phone. He also gave me a recording of my vows during the ceremony and gave links for the photo booth photos right away (I'm talking about the next morning) since my wedding guests were so excited to see pictures!

ALL IN ALL:
He really exceeded my expectations. Aside from all the craziness of wedding planning, I would rebook him in a heart beat for a wedding. I also recommend him to anyone who is looking for a superb DJ/MC, and audio/lighting services for their wedding. Out of all the vendors that I worked with, he's really the best. To be honest, it would be nice if he could be my vendor for everything because I wish some of my other vendors were just as great as he was. I'm a pretty picky person, so I'm surprised he was able to exceed my expectations. He's really passionate about his work and loves what he does. You can't go wrong with that!

DJ Jai is the best! A few days before the wedding she called me to go over the playlist and made sure she had all the right songs. She was professional and fun! Five stars all the way! My cousin came up to me after the wedding and said “I loved your playlist!! I loved every song! I want your dj for my wedding!!” Hire her for yours.

People danced all night!

DJ Bert was an absolute blast! The music he played had people dancing all through the night - I've never seen that many people dancing for so long at a wedding! His MC work was also great, and kept the event flowing smoothly. Our guests loved the photobooth, with plenty of props, and both physical and digital copies of the photos. The uplighting inside the building really added a lot to the ambiance of the room, and the string lights he hung in the patio were beautiful at night. We were very impressed and would highly recommend DJ by the Bay!

Bert and his team were outstanding during our wedding day. He helped reduce the wedding planning stress and made you feel comfortable. Bert is so great! We hired him for DJ and MC services as well as uplighting for our wedding and couldn’t have asked for anyone better! He set up a couple calls before the big day to go over all the details and make sure we were all on the same page. The lighting made the room look 100 times better. We didn’t really give Bert too much direction in terms of music we wanted played at the wedding, we let him use his experience and expertise to determine what to play and he didn’t let us down. My family and my husband’s family are not big dancers, but Bert played music that kept people on the dance floor all night long. It was such a perfect night! I would highly recommend Bert for any event!

We hired Bert as DJ and MC for our wedding at Sequoyah Country Club in the Oakland hills. We gave him our vision for desired music mix that leaned a lot on old school hip hop with some newer tracks and he delivered. We met him weeks earlier to scope out the venue, which has a dining room, buffet room, and dance room, and he gave us helpful suggestions in terms of the reception flow for the evening. He provided wireless mics for the ceremony (held just outdoors from the reception hall) and for the reception. He provided uplighting that was tasteful for the classic California/Mediterranean architecture inside the building.

The photo booth was very well done and our guests absolutely loved it. It was well worth the upgrade. Lots of props to choose from. Bert offered a variety of designs for the photo output, not just the traditional vertical strips of photos, which was valuable to us. We also got to choose the backdrop for the photo booth (which we selected as open rather than closed), as well as the option of receiving digital copies of our guests' photos.

Bert is professional, easy going, very responsive in ongoing communications, and flexible in meeting the couples' vision for the ceremony and reception. We highly recommend his services for weddings.

Bert and his staff were outstanding in every way. We have received lots of compliments from our guests about him, which makes us feel great. We are thrilled with how he performed, and we give him our highest recommendation.

1) Preparation - Bert was incredibly responsive about understanding our vision for our wedding. We had a lengthy Skype chat where we got to know each other and discuss various aspects of the wedding. He followed up with a very detailed questionnaire, and we had several more telephone calls prior to the big day. Bert was very conscientious, thoughtful, and professional throughout the whole planning process, which was wonderfully calming during an otherwise hectic time.

2) Audio engineering - we were very concerned about having good audio throughout the day, especially at the ceremony. Bert was the only DJ among the dozen or so we interviewed who suggested putting a mic on my wife, who has a rather soft voice (it was not visible on the outside, so our photos turned out great). During the ceremony, the audio was crisp and clear for everyone, which was exactly what we wanted.

3) Day-of performance - Bert was fantastic on our actual wedding day as MC and DJ. We had to completely revamp our day-of itinerary because of a weather issue. Although we reordered events and had to change things on the fly, Bert was very graceful and accommodating and always did a great job with introductions, transitions, and letting our guests know what was next. Bert has a very polite personality, and he put our guests at ease.

4) DJ skills - It's one thing for a DJ to play songs that you like, but it's another thing to actually be able to mix, transition, and overlay songs. Bert has mad skills as a DJ. And as a music programmer, he quickly figured out which songs played best to the room, and he got everyone out of their seats and dancing!

You can't go wrong with DJ by the Bay!

My wife and I hired Bert and his team for our wedding at the Galleria in the SF Design Center and couldn’t be happier with our choice. When we first talked to Bert, he guided us through a few questions to get the feel of our expectations and taste in music. Then he outlined what’s included in his price. We also selected him for his photobooth service. Leading up to our wedding, Bert had a clear outline of the mandatory song list for throughout the day and the “absolutely not” list of artists and songs.
On the day of, Bert and his team were ready and worked with the vendors and our friends who were emcees and officiant. He tailored to our variety of music including 90’s and 2000’s hip-hop, top hits and even to our nerdiness. And before we knew it, it was 11 PM and every was bummed that the partying had to stop. Promptly after our wedding, Bert shared the photos from photobooth.
I’d definitely recommend Bert and his team for your wedding.

DJ Bert is amazing! From my first contact with him all the way through our wedding day, Bert was responsive, professional, and just a great guy to work with. He made the entire wedding planning process so smooth, and made us feel less stressed and so much more confidant that the day would go well knowing he was there. We expected a few hiccups along the way, and we appreciate his flexibility and patience as we tried to manage unexpected changes and challenges.

Bert asked all the questions that we didn't even know to ask ourselves. In our minds, the details of the day were pretty much planned, but he helped us figure out where the gaps in our day were, and where events could transition better.

Bert was easy to talk to, whether it was via email, phone, or in person. Our ceremony was outdoors, and he went out of his way to meet us and the park ranger to make sure that the sound system would not violate park policies, so that we wouldn't risk losing our deposit.

We also decided to rent a photo booth from Bert, and it was awesome! There were so many photo strip options and unique customizations you can do, that it was a bit overwhelming, but once we had an idea of what we wanted, he worked with his graphic designer to tweak it and make it look good. So glad we decided to get the photo booth from him - one less vendor to work with!

We're so happy that we decided to hire DJ Bert. Even though we were feeling the stress (because what wedding is not stressful?), we felt so much better knowing Bert was there. It's nice to know someone could help us remember what the timeline was, and to ensure that we were following our own schedule.

My friends have been telling me that my wedding was the best wedding they've been to b/c the dance floor was always full and the music was on point!!!

I think what helped was setting expectations and really spending time on the must play song list that he provides.

He also provided my photobooth and was super accommodating to that as well. Thanks Bert for making my wedding the hottest one this year!

Music: hip hop, mainstream edm, he even played some kpop for my korean guests during dinner.

DJ BERT IS AMAZING!!! My husband and I hired him to dj at our wedding last weekend and he was a HUGE part of why our wedding was so amazing. We both love country music and he was totally honest with me in telling me that country was not his strong suit so he brought another DJ with him to make sure we got what we wanted! He played EXACTLY what we wanted and even provided us with a detailed sheet so that we could choose a specific song for each even in the wedding! He was so professional and so fun! Also, I definitely recommend doing the "uplighting" that he provides because it is definitely worth it to bring a fun and beautiful element to your wedding!
DJ bert kept the partying going until the VERY LAST SONG, literally more than half of our wedding had to stay because the music was THAT good! I will use him for every single party that I have in the future!

DJ Bert provided a complete package for our wedding from lighting, to MC, to projectors, to photobooth! DJ Bert is detail oriented and he provides valuable tips on how we can execute a flawless wedding. On our first meeting, DJ Bert offered to meet us at our venue to go over what services he was able to provide. After our meeting, we were so pleased that he actually brought the equipment and showed us how it all could come together. At that point, we knew we were in good hands! A couple weeks before the wedding, we went over the wedding day schedule, songs, and how everything would be executed. On the day of our wedding, we did not have to worry about anything which was the best part! DJ Bert and his team was able to coordinate with the venue coordinators, followed the timeline and adjusted accordingly! Bert and his team really delivered for us; their professionalism and attention to detail helped make our wedding day extra special. Weeks before the wedding, Bert took the time to call us and make sure we were on the same page regarding song selection, ceremony / reception schedule, and extra details like sound checks and emcee’ing. Both of us (bride and groom) and our officiant wore wireless mics during the ceremony, and all of our readings / vows were crystal clear on Bert’s system, something that is so important and often overlooked at weddings. Our ceremony also included two friends singing a duet with ukulele, and they sounded great! All of our ceremony readings, as well as reception toasts, were also digitally recorded and stored, a nice bonus that Bert threw in at no extra cost.

In addition to providing music and appropriate atmosphere during cocktail hour and reception, Bert also emcee’d wedding games for us, and provided us with the option of a photobooth during reception at a reasonable cost. We went with an open-style photobooth layout that was a real hit throughout the night, and we got to keep digital copies of all of the hi-res photos taken. All in all, we can’t recommend Bert enough for the wonderful job he handled our big day.

The entertainment at our wedding was excellent - every song cue was done flawlessly, the uplighting was beautiful, and everyone had a great time!
We had a lot of requests and special moments requiring custom music during our reception, and we appreciate all the time and energy Bert spent in meeting with us, and in preparing for the evening. The whole night was executed magnificently!

Bert was our DJ for our wedding ceremony and reception at the Brazilian room in Tilden Park and did a wonderful job. He is friendly and easy to work with, laid back but also professional and attentive. The whole experience felt very personalized. He was excellent at reading the crowd and getting everyone up and active on the dance floor. We also had karaoke and he set up and executed it brilliantly, even with managing a couple of rowdy guests who didn't want to give up the microphone. Gabe was also great, particularly with managing karaoke. I highly recommend both of them for weddings.

DJ Bert was awesome! He was so accommodating and made sure he got to know our musical tastes a bit before the wedding. He was professional but at the same time, had a great easy going energy that was perfect for our wedding. He also provided lighting and speakers to complete the picture, and was great to work with during the entire process. We'd recommend DJ Bert for any event!

Bert is absolutely the best! We used his services for our photobooth and uplighting. He was extremely responsive to all of our emails and phone calls. He was also very helpful and patient with us as we designed the layout for our photobooth pictures. He provided a bunch of props for the photobooth, and everyone had an absolute blast! The uplighting was beautiful and very classy. Honestly, I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Bert was amazing. I did a lot of interviews and talked to a lot of DJs, but when I met Bert, I knew he was perfect. He provided Dj/MC services, as well as a photobooth and lighting for my wedding. First of all, I love how quickly he responds to emails. I knew that no matter what time of day, if I contact him, I'll hear back in a matter of minutes and I loved that. He walked us through the process and helped each step of the way, from designing the perfect photobooth photo template to picking the perfect songs to encouraging us with his positivity a week before the wedding. He was the only one of my vendors that made the trip to my venue to see the layout, talk to me again, and meet my coordinator. He worked easily with my rabbi to coordinate ceremony music, which turned out to be perfect too! As for the lighting, I couldn't believe how beautiful the room looked first time I walked in. I still sometimes can't believe it when I see photos, amazing what some carefully places lights can do for a room! I get so many compliments from guests regarding his work. He was an absolutely pleasure to work with, I'm so happy he was able to help us. Above all, he's a great guy, who brings a great energy to the wedding and makes it all the more special.

Bert was amazing! When we first met him, he seemed very quiet and we weren't sure he would be a very energetic MC, but he did an amazing job! He had great energy but didn't talk to much or make stupid jokes like some MC's tend to do. He did an excellent job feeling the crowd and picking music that would keep the energy up and people dancing. We also had the room lighting which really livened up the party and made the venue look even more gorgeous. We were at the Brazilian Room in Tilden Park and the additional lighting really made the room pop! We also got the Photo Booth which was so much fun! They provided a lot of props and the booth was big enough to fit a lot of people in it but we could still have the traditional "photo booth look." Bert was very professional and answered our questions quickly. He was flexible and he knew what he was doing. We couldn't be happier with his services and if we could do it all over again we would still pick him!

DJ Bert and his team were awesome. He was very responsive with a quote and in helping us plan for our wedding, meeting with us at the venue, and chatting with us over the phone several times. He provided a bunch of documents and information that helped us plan out the music for our wedding reception, but also did a great job of picking songs within genres that we specified and keeping the party going (an hour longer than we had planned!) He got uncommon (foreign) music to play for some of our guests in their native language, which was a big hit and made them feel right at home. During the event he didn't draw a lot of attention to himself with unnecessary announcements and such, but rather focused on playing music to fit the mood, so everyone would have a good time. He also helped us pick out and set up the lighting for our reception which looked great, and provided a photo booth which everyone at the wedding enjoyed.

Bert did an amazing job with our wedding as both an MC and DJ. Since our even, we've received numerous compliments from several of our guests stating that he was nice, professional, helpful, played a great selection of songs. He went above and beyond what was expected by taking pictures (with a great camera) throughout the evening and sending them to us without afterwards. During the planning phase, he did a great job of keeping us on track but nudging us when we needed to get things done without being pushy. I highly recommend and will definitely use his services again!

Gabe was great. He played all the music our friends and family loved. Got the party rolling by getting us on the dance floor and was VERY patient with the kids and the karaoke mikes. Gabe was extremely flexible in taking requests and found great accompanying music to a surprise visit from a family member who did a light and fire show. We highly recommend Gabe. He's a nice guy too!

I was just the MC for the night, not the bride or groom (so I didn't personally have the contract)….but Burt was so helpful and so amiable in helping me do what I was asked to do….I totally felt like he was there for OUR party, not trying to make his stamp on it….which he, of course, did, by being such a great partner on the scene!

Can't say enough great things about Bert (DJ by the Bay). He made our corporate party of a 250+ person mixed age crowd have them most fun they've ever had at one of our events! He read the crowd so well and created a musical line up that had everyone on their feet. The uplighting he staged in the room was PERFECT and he was the easiest vendor I've ever worked with. First and foremost Bert did an excellent job for our wedding, he is as good as it gets. We hired him to come and do lighting and he went well above and beyond anything we could have asked for. What impressed me the most about Bert is how responsive he was to all my inquiries prior to the event. We hired him 4-6 weeks prior as he came highly recommended through a friend (another wedding vendor) and luckily he was available. He was on top of every little detail and was able to decipher my interpretation of how my wife-to-be wanted the look and feel of our day -- and like most people, never having planned a wedding before and choosing a venue (The Bently Reseve) that was not all inclusive trying to figure out what is actually needed for the space was well above my head. He was able to provide thoughtful insight on what was actually needed and not overselling anything that was not necessary for the space. And the fact that he was so responsive, put my very well at ease and allowed me to focus on other details of the wedding.

I would definitely recommend Bert and would seek him again should I be in need of lighting.

Burt was our favorite wedding vendor. In short: he was super on top of his game, quick reply to emails, quick to think of solutions, and quick to run to rescue when our coordinator / venue dropped the ball.

We had a semi complicated wedding with a lot of moving parts. We had to find a play list that worked for a wide range of audiences.. a good chunk of our 100+ guests of all ages danced until 1am.. so were assuming everyone liked the music. :)

Ladies, if you're planning your wedding or any other event, don't bust your budget on flowers. Use it on lighting!! It will absolutely make the room. We went with low cost Costco flowers (which were great quality) and mason jars for the centerpieces on the tables, but the uplighting around the room made everything look so magical.

Bert was very thorough with everything. He provided the colors that we wanted (orange and blue) and had us send him the layout of the room along with where we wanted him to place the lights in the room. His pricing was super competitive as well. On the day of the wedding, he went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect. When he was setting up the lighting, he could tell that the number of lights that we had agreed to were not going to be enough to get that WOW factor. So he added in a few more lights at no cost (without telling us)! All so we could have that ambiance that we were looking for. I cannot emphasize enough how great everything looked with that lighting. One of the best decisions I could have made for the wedding.

Thank you so much for being the DJ at Dana and Matt's wedding in July. You and our wedding coordinator for the day were in sync and everything flowed seamlessly and on schedule. You seriously had the place ROCKIN' from beginning to end – the dance floor was NEVER empty and we have a feeling the partying could easily have gone on for another couple of hours thanks to you! Whenever we have seen guests since the big day, they just go on and on about what a great time they had (as well as complain that their feet/legs ached for a week afterwards because they danced so much!). In addition to providing the music Dana and Matt requested, you seemed to instinctually know what our guests wanted to hear/dance to and you delivered!
As a result of such fun times had, I have learned that we will be seeing you at two more events (at least!) in 2014 - our son's wedding in June and our cousin's wedding in October! Glad that your awesome DJ'ng at Matt and Dana's wedding yielded at least two more gigs, but best of all the opportunity to keep in touch with you.

Bert was the DJ for my wedding and truly was a essential part to the success of the wedding. He kept to the weddings timeline and moved everything along flawlessly. He was engaging, entertaining and kept the dance floor full all night long. He was really able to gauge what my guests wanted to hear but still making sure to fit in the songs we chose.

Not only was Bert exceptional the day of but he was so easy to work with in the year leading up to our wedding. He was responsive, helpful and most of all reliable. We never had to worry about him and while planning a wedding, that is essential.

We also used the photo booth service and it was exceptional as well. The staff and the service was amazing and we got so many compliments about how great it was.

We would HIGHLY recommend Bert and DJ by the Bay for any event that you have.

Bert was a breath of fresh air during the wedding planning process. He was beyond responsive, extremely flexible and the utmost professional. Bert was willing and able to work with us to accommodate our various needs for the ceremony, top quality PA systems for ceremony performances and a reception serenade, outstanding MC capabilities and provided every song we could ever want to hear (including a specific first dance that was not easy to locate). As a former wedding DJ myself, I was very selective when choosing the DJ for my own wedding and I seriously couldn't be happier with Bert and his services. He was truly exceptional and I would highly recommend his services to anyone getting married in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you are thinking about having a DJ at your wedding, I can't imagine anyone doing a better job.

I'm the mother of the bride and would highly recommend DJ By the Bay for any event. Bert scheduled several consultations to be sure that every detail was covered. He even traveled a couple hours out of his way to do a walk-thru to make sure that the sound and lighting would be perfect for my dauther's wedding. He even suggested a photo booth that turned out to be a hit for all ages.

It all paid off. The ambiance from his uplights and the selection of music throughout the evening was perfect!!

DJ Bert Blank from DJ By The Bay was a pleasure to work with! He is extremely prepared and takes a lot of the stress out of planning your reception, with song and time line suggestions to get you started that you can personalize however you'd like. He is very organized and covers all of the bases but is also able to go with the flow of the reception and make changes even the day of as needed, like with my reception, we had a timeline planned but he wasn't thrown off at all when we didn't stick to the times exactly. His set up is gorgeous and adds a lot to any venue. Our special moments played out perfectly and he got the crowd going; my friends, family, husband, and I danced the afternoon away! Our wedding day was the happiest day of my life, and I know DJ Bert played a big part in making our reception such a great time! - That was the original review I wrote on Yelp just a few weeks after our wedding, as you can see by our wedding date it is just over two years ago and every time I think of our beautiful reception I am still thankful DJ Bert was apart of it! I recommend him to friends and family all of the time and I simply can't say enough good things about him!

Bert, was great! We got so many positive comments about the music at our wedding from guests in their 20s to guests in their 70s. We provided him a list of songs and he balanced playing them and songs not on our list to keep the dance floor full. Our wedding ran an hour behind schedule, but Bert made quick decisions about what to skip on our schedule. We highly recommend him.

My guest list consisted of about 60 % over the age of 50 and i was worried not being able to make everyone enjoy the evening....
but everyone has made very positive comments on all his music

Bert is incredibly friendly, accommodating, and pleasant to work with, especially when facing the stresses of putting on an event. He has provided DJ services, in addition to adding sound and lighting throughout the venues we have used. My group hosts large events to fund raise for Children's Hospital and Research Center in Oakland, and I have worked closely with Bert for three straight years. He knew where to add lights and speakers to improve the venue and overall experience for our guests. He is flexible and can provide any style of music you would like and has a huge selection. He is always open to suggestions and is a great collaborator.

We had Bert for my son's 21st Birthday Party. The music was great and it never stopped!
The party goers danced all night and said it was so fun. Bert also brought great lighting to make the event even more festive. Even though my party was not a wedding I would certainly use him in the future when the need may arise. I would highly recommend Bert (DJ by the Bay) for any event! I found him by doing a google search for a DJ for a 30th birthday party I hosted. The evening was a huge success and Bert is an excellent DJ. He met my husband and I at the site venue to discuss set up, lighting (which created an amazing ambiance), music preferences, and the flow of the event. Bert is extremely professional, punctual, and a pleasure to work with. Since my party, my son used him for a surprise party he gave. My sister-in-law also booked Bert (DJ by the Bay) for her son's 21st birthday celebration and all three of these parties were terrific. I would absolutely use DJ by the Bay again! And, they are very reasonable with their pricing. 5 stars plus!!!

DJ Bert has played for Alameda Business Network's last two fundraisers. He is extremely professional and listens to what we want. His music was entertaining and he has a great playlist. We coud not ask for a better DJ for our events and we will continue to use his services.

We are so happy with the service DJ By the Bay has provided us. We asked them to do our lighting and it turned out amazing! Bert catered to all of our requests and was very helpful and professional. He arrived early to the venue, the set up was super quick and perfect and he was there with us the whole night creating the perfect lighting for every activity (speech, games, dinner, dance, etc.)

We would have gotten the DJ service too but our Chinese emcee and DJ came in a package. I have seen Bert DJ on a different occasion and he was great at that as well!

If you want the whole package you should definitely check them out. They have all sorts of cool lighting effects at a VERY reasonable price. We truly think DJ By the Bay made our special day EXTRA special!

Looking for the right vendors for a wedding is sometimes very difficult. I am white and my now husband is Indian. We looked long and hard, talked to and met with many different DJ’s and lighting specialist who do or were willing to do a mix of American Music and Hindi / Punjabi Music. The music for us was extremely important and with our busy work schedules, and sometimes being all over the place, we needed to be able to work with someone who was patient, flexible, had reasonable rates, etc. When we found Bert (He is the DJ by the Bay) we got more than that.

First off Bert was extremely patient. I am not a planner and neither is my husband. We are more last minute kind of people. Also, Bert was not familiar with music from India (Neither am I) and he went to the ends of the Earth to learn about it. My husband sent him a bunch of Hindi and Punjabi tracks and he was able to mix them with the American music absolutely flawlessly. Enough so, that everyone (especially the Indian Guests), were impressed an many people asked us who our DJ was.

As I had mentioned, we had busy work schedules and Bert was able to work with us through late night conference calls, meetings at the venue and so on. He also gave great suggestions for lighting which we wanted but, weren’t sure how we wanted it. On the wedding day he kept us on schedule which is not easy when half the wedding party runs on Indian Stretchable time. He provided the ceremony music, everything.

There are a lot of professional DJ’s out there who provide lighting, but they don’t have the attention to detail, patience, flexibility, friendliness that comes with Bert. Plus, Bert’s rates where so much better. You really get so much more than what you pay for. Also, if you are doing a mixed marriage, you really cannot do better Bert.

My Husband and I strongly recommend him and if we ever need a DJ in the future, will be using him again.

We hired DJ Bert for my outdoor wedding in September. He was amazing he helped me plan the wedding of my dreams. He was knowledgable about the music and had a variety of music available for me to choose from, and offered suggestions and was accomidating when I wanted something he was not familiar with. When we first me he gave a packet which contained a large list of music selections which were popular to use at weddings, and on the top list for various years. This was a huge help. DJ Bert also provided lighting for my wedding for the evening. I wish I would have used him for more (like the photobooth) he was helpful and amazingly flexiable. He was understanding when we ran behind schedule and kept things going smoothly all evening. I had many compliments from my guest about him saying they loved his music. Quality of Service:
Bert was constantly in contact with us and really let us know what we needed to do in order to have a smooth wedding, but he was also very interested in making the wedding our own by incorporating the music that was unique and special to us. He managed the process effectively, came out to the venue with us. He gave us reasonable deadlines, was understanding when we missed them, and gave u a friendly push when we needed it. Great guy!

Top notch. We communicated mostly by email, and the responses were prompt and clear. Communication was key. When we waffled during song selections or had additions/ things to omit , Burt followed up with confirmations on the same day every time.

Professionalism:
Burt is the consummate professional. In fact, he does the DJ thing on the side, and he works the 9-5+ in the corporate environment like all of the rest of us. He carries his professionalism with him, and you won't catch Burt missing appointments, dressing inappropriately, or doing anything else that's frowned upon by your families or the public in general.

Value:
Burt's prices were very reasonable. We didn't want a DJ that was unprofessional, and we would pay a premium for his services again. I'm confident that DJ By The Bay (aka DJ Bert) is the best value in the Bay Area.

Flexibility:
Burt was extremely flexible when working with us, but not to the point where he would let us self-destruct and destroy our wedding. He worked with us on dates to survey the venue, meet about music, and worked within our budget constraints.

There are great vendors, and then there's DJ Bert - a cut above the rest. If you want your wedding to run smoothly, and if you want your DJ to be the least of your worries, hire DJ Bert and worry about your caterer, your florist, etc.

My husband and I were fortunate enough to have DJ Bert as our DJ/MC for our wedding just a few weeks ago, and we could not have chosen a better DJ for our event! We were looking for a DJ that was energetic and fun and someone who would also be organized enough to run the events according to plan. Bert could not have been any better! He was very professional throughout all of our correspondences, and his response time was incredible. He made sure that he went through everything with us long before the wedding so that we could relax. Throughout the night, we got dozens of compliments on how great the music the DJ was playing. Bert was smooth, professional, organized, and a total blast! I would highly recommend my friends to consider him.

From a referral, we used DJ Bert for our wedding. I am so glad that we did. He was on top of everything. He nicely nudged us to send him songs for our wedding. He went into detail about the possible options of music and gave awesome suggestions.

On the day of the wedding, we were running behind schedule (what a surprise) but DJ Bert was able to be calm and get us back on track. I didn't need to worry about it which was awesome.

Afterward, folks gave us compliments about the music and say they had a blast. I highly recommend DJ By the Bay.

On a side note, we saw DJ Bert again at our friend's wedding. I also had a good time at their wedding.

Bert was a referral from a friend and we are so glad we found him. We immediately "clicked" with him. Bert is attentive, responsive, and a very funny guy. Bert gave us advice and suggestions on how to make our wedding better. I would recommend him to all our friends and family. Bert started as a DJ/vendor, but we now consider him as a friend-I hope he feels the same about us.

DJ Bert was the DJ for my son and daughter in-law's wedding ceremony and reception. They say the DJ can make or break a reception. DJ Bert made the reception absolutely memorable! Bert created an atmosphere of celebration, fun and the irresistible urge to get up and dance! He was professional and flexible. Bert dealt with last minute changes with a calm demeanor and sense of humor. His music selection and ability to read the crowd were amazing. The lighting and sound were outstanding. He helped guide the bride and groom in their choice of music for the ceremony and reception, and provided clarity and direction when they felt overwhelmed. We could not have wished for a better DJ for such a momentous occasion. Several of the guests commented that it was the best wedding reception they had been to in a long time!

DJ Bert was such a pleasure to work with!
After searching high and low for a DJ… weary of who we’ll be working with (will they be professional, can I rely on them, is it within budget) you know all those concerns. My maid of honor who also happened to be planning her own wedding came to the rescue and recommended DJ Bert.
Bert took time to meet us at our venue site to analyze the space and provide some recommendations for sound & lighting. As soon as we met him he put our minds at ease. He was well prepared, brought his laptop to show effects of lighting and very knowledgeable about his craft – a professional! He had great suggestions about how the sound would reflect in the room and lighting to create ambiance. I loved lighting he provided. It created such a beautiful effect and depth to an otherwise flat room. He was also very responsive especially with all the details we had for our reception schedule and timeline. We had quite a schedule with some dancers performing at the reception and the bridal party stuck in traffic… yes late! He conducted challenges in the schedule like a pro! He was able to juggle the music for last minute changes in performances. He far exceeded what we expected! I have nothing but good things to say about Bert... his prices were great... his services... even better! Our guest had nothing but great things to say about our DJ. Yes… several guest kept mentioning our DJ! I think that says a lot! Bert thank you for helping make our special day so memorable!

DJ Bert Blank Blank from DJ By The Bay was a pleasure to work with! He is extremely prepared and takes a lot of the stress out of planning your reception, with song and time line suggestions to get you started that you can personalize however you'd like. He is very organized and covers all of the bases but is also able to go with the flow of the reception and make changes even the day of as needed, like with my reception, we had a timeline planned but he wasn’t thrown off at all when we didn’t stick to the times exactly. His set up is gorgeous and adds a lot to any venue. Our special moments played out perfectly and he got the crowd going; my friends, family, husband, and I danced the afternoon away! Our wedding day was the happiest day of my life, and I know DJ Bert played a big part in making our reception such a great time!

It’s not a wedding without dancing! At first, I was just going to employ the services of my ipod, but what better way to set the mood for dancing than with a DJ. With only six months to plan my wedding, Bert made it easy communicate through email. He had a wide selection of music, flexibility in choices, and lists of many kinds of dances that are commonly part of a wedding ceremony and wedding dance (I didn’t know there were so many!) He was easy to work with, flexible, and unobtrusive—giving ample suggestions, not demands. I had complete confidence that Bert would take care of the music, and on the big day, my confidence paid off because we all had a blast!

Bert was fantastic! This is the one aspect of our wedding that I asked my fiance to take care of and I have to admit I was a little nervous but once I met Bert I knew he had made the right choice. He responded to all of our emails quickly, played everything we wanted him to play and none of our do not play songs. He didn't make the night about him like I've seen at many weddings, he just played great music and kept everyone dancing the entire night. None of our guests wanted to leave at the end of the night, everyone was on the dance floor. His prices were great and he provided uplighting for our space which transformed our space from looking old and dated to looking hip and trendy. If you're having any doubts about who you should hire I would 100% recommend Bert- he's awesome!

Bert was a super helpful resource on our wedding day. In addition to managing the music, he provided lighting for our venue and a photo booth. Having the all-in-one experience really simplified securing all of those elements and ensuring consistent quality between them. I was really impressed with his outdoor audio setup at the Berkeley Rose Garden where we held our ceremony. I would highly recommend Bert for another event.
