Shades of Green is military resort on Disney property. We have been going there for years to visit the parks. When my daughter got engaged we pretty much knew we wanted as close to a Disney wedding as possible and SOG was able to provide us with that. It is a beautiful venue, the staff was great, the food was great, the resort is great. We were particularly happy with the Sales and Catering manager, Beate Krebs, who worked with us tirelessly throughout the process. I remember reading somewhere a negative review about SOG and how they did not have any contact until right before the wedding. That was not the case with us. I probably drove poor Beate crazy with so much contact, but she was always responsive, pleasant and a delight to work with! If you have the affiliation with the military to have a wedding at Shades of Green, I can't recommend it enough! -

Beautiful wedding venue. I booked the venue without even seeing it first. When I went to visit I was blown away. It was more beautiful than I imagined. -

If you are able to book your wedding and reception at Shades of Green on Walt Disney World Resort you must!
We got married outside on the gazebo and it so beautiful outside. The gazebo has ponds and beautiful plants and flowers on one side and a golf course on the other. We had our cocktail hour and reception inside in the Palm PreFunction and the ball room. This space is grand and so beautiful it needs no decoration other than what you do to your tables and lighting. Everyone we worked with at the resort was helpful and nice. We were treated like royalty the day of. The food at the reception was amazing. Our guests loved everything about the resort, esp the 24 hour pool! It has all the perks of being at Disney without being too Mickey Mouse.
The quality for the price is unbeatable. We got more than I could have hoped for. Affordability, grandness, great food, attentiveness, and professionalism. Shades of Green has it all and more! -

The wedding team at Shades of Green made our wedding a night to remember. Every detail from planning the wedding to actually being in the moment was absolutely perfect. We chose to stay at Shades of Green for 3 nights. Our wedding was a destination wedding and included 90 guests. Teresa Richardson was our sales directors. She handled all of the details in the contract including the number of guests, our food options, the layout of our reception, and the placement and number every table. The banquet team was beyond amazing. They allowed us to bring our flowers from West Palm Beach and store them in the cooler until our wedding day. Every detail was handled perfectly and they spent a great deal of time helping us to organize and deal with any crisis' we encountered. The catering team was excellent. The food was to die for!! Mark, the lead caterer, made sure that my husband and I did not have to go to the bar. He brought us drinks, appetizers, and even offered to make us a plate of food from our buffet.
When you plan for a wedding you are told to plan for things to go wrong. However, the entire Shades of Green team made our experience so magical (it's Disney, so it has to be magical!) They did not allow for anything to go wrong. I could never say thank you enough to the whole Shades of Green crew. The venue was beautiful, but the people who make the event happen far out do the beauty of the venue.
We truly cannot say enough great things about Shades of Green and the members of the staff that make these kind of events possible. -

I want to thank Teresa Richardson for handling my wedding in 3 weeks and it came out beautiful. She handles everything in a professional way and gave accurate information. She also answer all my emails in a timely manner. If you are planning a wedding or any type of event, I recommend her. She is friendly and would handle your wedding as it was her own.
Thanks Teresa Richardson & staff -

We LOVED Shades of Green! The location was fantastic (hello Magic Kingdom Walt Disney World), the rooms were gorgeous, the prices were beyond amazing, and the service was super! We used half of the Magnolia Ballroom for our ceremony for 75 people, the cocktail hour was in the Palm Hallway, and the reception was in the other half of the Magnolia Ballroom. Our buffet was really good, and throughout the whole process Bonny and then Teresa were super to work with! Emails were answered promptly, all my questions were answered, and I never felt like I couldn't get in touch with someone. Everybody thought the location was beautiful - we were thrilled! -

A Beautiful day for a Beautiful wedding! We held our wedding and reception at Shades of Green on 10/17/2009. The resort was amazing and the venue was magical. I was so happy with SOG and especially with Bonny Bailey,,she is a GEM! I enjoyed working with her so much we are still freinds and feel she and Deidra bring warmth and beauty to SOG for all brides and grooms. The location could not be more breathe taking and the food was beyond yummy. :} Even though it is a military resort, there is nothing but beauty and sophistication to the venue,,a perfect Disney Dream Wedding! Thank you Shades of Green for your part of my Special Day! -

Wow wow wow, this is a hidden treasure if you are in the military. We had our wedding at the Gazebo on the lake for only $300. The pictures on the website do no justice to how amazing this hotel is. And with rates of $100 a night you can't beat it if you want your guests to stay there too. This location is just as good if not better than any of the other Disney resorts (and is a Disney resort). If you know anyone in the military you have got to try this place. Richard, the hotel event planner, was awesome too. Oh and for fun there are wild turkeys on the property that is bound to entertain guests :) -

The staff at SOG is INCREDIBLE!! Thank you so much for a seamless, perfect wedding day.
I planned our 10/29/17 wedding for 60 guests in 3 months in emails with Jennifer Lerch who was amazing. She answered every question I had in a very prompt and thorough manner. She attached all documents and updated us on every little change. Honestly, I was a little concerned with staying on top of everyone since there were some reviews on The Knot stating that they experienced confusion and some mix ups. I can truly say, that there were zero mix ups to be had at all, and Jennifer was organized and on top of every detail! Tami was our day of coordinator, who is such a professional and was a pleasure to have directing the day. She set out all the decorations and put the room together, calmed the mother of the bride down, took pictures with bridesmaids phones at their request, and kept the flow of the day in motion. Thank you Tami!
Our other vendors all work together on weddings there often and were in direct contact with each other, which was a load of stress off of my plate. The day ran like a well oiled machine and I heard comments from guests saying they were so surprised with how easy the day was going, and that it was a very stress-free wedding experience that had a great flow.
The talented women who did our hair and make up were prompt and so fun to get ready with, not to mention the last minute mani/pedi appointments the on site spa was able to make for me and the groom.
I wouldn't have had our wedding any place else; planning was less overwhelming since they work with a limited number of vendors (who are all amazing and provide beautiful services). It was the perfect reflection of both the bride and groom and hope everybody has the same amazing experience as we had. -

I am happy to give a positive review for Shades of Green Resort. This is a military resort and you (in my case, my USMA-retired dad), will need an ID to stay there. (See SOG website for details.) My wedding was the most wonderful day of my life and SOG had so much to do with my smooth, hassle-free wedding day. I rented the entire Magnolia Ballroom, hosted my wedding party and families onsite in the hotel, used the catering and sound system, and held my wedding and reception there. The lady who helped us the day before and day of was incredibly helpful. She suggested ideas and helped us set up the roomeven signed my guest book. :) The food and punch were excellent. SOG even created my punch using my own recipe. The facilities were beautifulnot overly crowded, plenty of parking and bathrooms, use of side rooms for photographers and ready rooms. I took all my wedding pictures on site, it is so lovely. There are pretty halls, lawns, and a gazebo we used as settings.
I had a very limited budget, as I am the oldest of 10 children and finances only stretch so far. I needed more flexibility than a bride usually does and SOG was very good about letting me bring in friends and relatives to help who were not official vendors.
The only notes I would add are these: SOG seems hard to find, so be sure to provide details driving directions for guests. We had folks who were lost. SOG also requires a list of vendors and guests' names and a count of how many will come. This is because they must issue parking passes. Be sure to let your guests know where to park, since not all parking will be available to them. The salesman I worked with in the months leading up to the wedding was helpful, but not exceptionally so. He got me confused with someone else and I ended up with needing to pay a large bill for the punch, because SOG would not let me bring in an outside vendor for that.
All in all, I had like a $10,000 wedding for about half that cost. SOG was amazing! -

My wedding at shades of green was wonderful. The food was delicious. The ballroom is a neutral background for any color scheme. The staff on site was attentive. The banquet services/sales dept is a little rigid and not willing to work with you on some items even though you are spending quite a bit of money. Because their rate are lower than most ballrooms in the area, and they are a military resort they were not as willing to assist. Also, attention to detail is a must. Follow up on your items to ensure they have on the contract correctly. They are great and friendly and complete everything with a smile on their face. I wouldn't change a thing.... -

Let me start out by saying that Shades of Green is a beautiful resort. I started out working with a specific sales manager who was absolutly wonderful and so helpful. She helped me get everything for my wedding in order and I was feeling great. About 1 month before my wedding I was told she no longer worked for Shades of Green and a new sales manager would be taking over my wedding. It was a disaster. The new manager didn't know a single thing about my wedding. She didn't even know I was getting married at their indoor location instead of outside! I had to start from scratch with them and reset up everything for my entire wedding! This was WAY to much unneeded stress. On top of tryiing to get everything set up (again), I had a very hard time getting a timely response from anyone at Shades of Green. I was very uneasy going into my wedding day, I just knew something would go wrong since it felt like no one at Shades of Green cared about my wedding. I'd also arranged for my rehearsal dinner to take place at Shades of Green at the Garden Gallary. While the food was good, the service was awful. My group of 35 people had a room to ourselves. When we arrived the tables weren't set and we had no waiter. I actually had to track down a server and ask that they come get drinks for my group. I was so embarrased that no one was able to get drink refills or even some salt and pepper for their meal because Shades of Green hadn't arranged for anyone to tend to our group. It was very upsetting. The wedding day turned out well and things were great. Though I will say if I hadn't had a coordinator helping me keep Shades of Green straight there would have been many mistakes (the bar charging my guests for sodas when I'd specifically told them not to being one of them). Like I said at the beginning, Shades of Green is a beautiful resort and I think they do great weddings, just be careful who you're working with and be sure they plan to respond to you to help you with your wedding! -

We recently got married at Shades of Green in January. The entire process was a large deal of work. You realize from the start that you are dealing with the federal government, not a venue that really needs business. We planned on visiting SoG the January before the wedding and when we arrived in Florida we were forced to cancel due to their employee not being there to show us the space. The second time we went down to Florida to see the venue in August 2014 we were still unable to see our venue due to a conference going on. We saw the Ballroom for our reception two days before our wedding date. This became even more annoying of an issue when we were having our wedding and they had no problem taking other people through to show them the Ballroom.... while we were in it for our reception.
Another annoying part is that you MUST use their vendor list. The majority of their vendors are very subpar. Luckily we found an amazing photographer and videographer off of their list. The officiant they provided also was very good. One photographer we called on their list never even bothered to return our phone call, while another one texted us and asked us to meet him in the clubhouse of an apartment complex in Orlando that he didn't live at..... Another let down with the vendors was the Salon on property. Not only did they tell us that "We don't have anyone skilled enough to do Hair/Makeup for a wedding (Even though its part of SOGs package)," but when they did my nails they refused to do it the color I wanted because the lady didnt like the way it would look.
SoG is also horrible at returning emails. We had times where we waited months for a response to a simple question. The answer we usually got was "Sorry it took so long we were busy with ....." A month to return an email seems very outrageous. Another problem we had was when we asked a question they could never give us an answer. One request we had asked about in March we did not get an answer to until October.

Wedding coordinator was extremely disorganized the entire year leading up to the wedding. Kept losing our information, would send emails requesting that I give her the information for the ceremony because "I had not provided it yet" (when I had sent her everything needed an entire year out), and threatened to release rooms from our room block before the contracted release date.
Once we got TO the resort, ourselves and ALL of our guests had issues checking in, no one's rooms were ready, everyone had issues checking out and were charged incorrectly. Nobody contacted us the day of our wedding to let us know where we were supposed to go or how things would go. They did not set up the sign directing guests to our wedding until two hours AFTER the ceremony had already ended.
Upon checking out, I requested a supervisor to call me...she called a few days later, made it seem like everything was our fault and that we just didn't understand the processes (even though what we were saying was what had been told to us by her staff), said she would "investigate" and call me back, and then I never heard from her again.
The gazebo site was still beautiful and our wedding was lovely, but I will never stay at SOG again or recommend that anyone does business with them. -

The lady who was supposed to be working with me never answered my calls after the initial contract was signed until 3 days before my wedding. We never were able to meet her in person. Our rehearsal was outside and scheduled after dark and the gazeebo had no lights or power. The morning of my wedding was a walking fml post. I got a call a half hour before the wedding asking if someone was going to come and set il the linens we had rented for the reception that my coordinator had assured me they would set up as part of the rental fee. I was assured by the resort that they might be able to find someone to do that. Then we get there change in the bathroom and set up our decorations and we go to where we are supposed to wait for the wedding. Except the gazeebo still has no power and the people at the resort wont help us because we are supposed to have a coordinator. So the coordinator for the wedding after ours finally helped us because we were holding up the next wedding. Our music is finally able to start and we do the wedding and get to the ballroom. The rented linens were up. But there was confusion about our fruit and veggie trays and whether it was us or the next wedding that had an open bar. We did not want an open bar only open free sodas and 1 champagne toast. They also had issues letting my dj into the ballroom to get set up. Then we tried to pay the remainder of our bill before e left and no one there would take our payment. They said our coordinator was the one we were supposed to talk to about that. But again she never showed up. Sok tried to pay them by calling over the next few months and she never answered my calls and never called back. I then tried to fax in a credit card authorization to pay our remaining balance that way but it still never came out of my account. Then a year and a half later I get an email out of the blue saying I had to pay them 2500 dollars in 3 days or they would go to my command and report me to the military pay system for indebtedness. I am still waiting for a call back from a manager of sales because the woman on the phone couldn't do anything for me except demand half of the bill I have issues with and tell me she will have her manager call me. -
