The floral designs created by Desi were stunning! My daughter and her bridal party's bouquets were gorgeous. The floral setting on the beach was breathtaking, and the centerpieces in the ball room were masterful!! I had many many guests who attended the wedding, along with many friends who saw pictures, tell me it was the most artful display of flowers they had ever seen, bar none!! HIGHLY recommend!!!

Desi was awesome. She took our many ideas and turned them into a flower heaven. While it was hard for us to narrow down exactly what we wanted, Desi took every idea we had and ran with it! I loved my boutique. I loved the garland on my long family style tables. But my favorite was the cake table with the floating glass and a ton of flowers underneath. Thank you again Desi for the wonderful flowers.

I had to plan my wedding from Boston, and what really made me choose Desi's Floral & Design was Desi's responsiveness and her ideas expressed in the initial consultation. She was professional and knew exactly how to make my vision come to life. She continued to answer all of my questions / address any of my concerns all the way until the big day. Everyone loved the floral arrangements she did for the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception. She even made an arrangement for our dog who attended the reception. We loved working with her, and would definitely recommend her.

Desi was just fantastic. Her floral and coordination work was everything we could have hoped for and more. I did not think it would be possible, but all of the bouquets and floral arrangements were *exactly* as I had imagined, which was pretty amazing! The beautiful photos of her and Melissa's floral work speak for themselves- what you see on her website, facebook, wedding websites, etc., is exactly the quality you get. We also used her day-of coordination services, however, which I would give 10 stars for if that were possible. Although we only technically did rehearsal and "day of" coordination, Desi went above and beyond in my opinion. We facetimed for two hours when I first started planning and answered all the questions I could think of. She took my (and my parents') Type-A neuroses in stride with patience and humor, which was so appreciated. During the event, she made sure we all appeared at the right place at the right time, in addition to making all of our announcements (we didn't have a DJ), making sure all the right music played on time (we'd set up iPod playlists), corralling all of our vendors (cake, photographer, caterer, musicians), and taking care of a million other details. Once things started rolling, I knew I didn't have to worry about a thing because she had it under control. I'm a pretty DIY type person and at first I wasn't sure we needed a coordinator - but having done it, I can definitely say - we couldn't have done it without her!!

Although I wished I could have afforded more, Desi and Melissa did a wonderful job with the few items I requested for my wedding! My order included just a couple of bouquets, boutonnieres, decorative babies breath and two entrance pieces but after having seen their work, I wish I could have tripled my budget to include so many other pieces! Throughout the planning process I had many silly questions and Desi was kind enough to work through my confusion and help me out when needed. I appreciate her helping me stick to a budget and figuring out a way for me to have the flowers delivered to my venue-it would have been very stressful trying to get someone to pick them up and I appreciate her working with me to ensure the delivery could happen. I sent her a few pictures of the "feel" I was going for and the end result was much more gorgeous than I could have imagined! I remember jumping up and down when my bridesmaids gathered their bouquets yelling, "Oh my god! all the colors are so perfect!" (they looked stunning next to my bridesmaids dresses). I tried to preserve my own bouquet the best I could and even though it's dried and bunched up it still looks beautiful! Melissa was a saint, not only were all the colors and flowers perfect but she delivered the flowers to the venue and placed babies breath inside the lanterns and birdcages we had used for centerpieces and decoration. At one point I had thought about "doing it myself the day of the event" but now that it's all over I am extremely appreciative that she was willing to do that for me. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a fabulous group of flower artists!

I could not have pulled off my wedding without the help of Desi! She is incredible and my flowers were more than I could have ever imagined!! I planned my wedding in 34 days and she worked with me every step of the way while also providing me with connections to various other vendors I would have not known about without her help! My guests were overjoyed with the location and flowers and I received numerous comments from my family and friends about the unique and beautiful venue and flowers! Thank you so much Desi for all you have done to make my wedding a dream for me and my husband!

Desi is amazing! Our flowers were perfect, just what I wanted. Many florists refused to do sunflowers due to their delicate nature, but Desi accepted the challenge and our bouquets kept up perfectly the entire day. She responds quickly to emails and definitly had the best prices for what we were looking for. If you don't pick Desi, you are missing out.

Desi and Melissa did an absolutely amazing job! Desi was super easy to work with and very responsive. She really listened to what I wanted and understood what was important to me. She even helped me to put my unformed ideas into words. She was flexible very easy to work with. The end product was amazing. Her work exceeded my every expectation!

I called Desi probably three weeks before my wedding and she spent an hour on the phone with me, establishing the look I was going for. She followed me on Pinterest and went over all of the floral pins I had pinned to my wedding board. She created a very detailed estimate for me and although I couldn't afford everything (I really wish I could have), she designed the corsages and boutonnieres for our families. I was so relieved she was able to help us so last minute. Needless to say, the corsages and boutonnieres turned out beautifully!

Desi provided the perfect flowers for my wedding on such short notice (2 months before the big day I contacted her.) She took pictures I had found online and recreated them to my liking. She made me a flower crown which I LOVED and looked so editorial. I felt like I was a fashion model! The flowers lasted for almost a week after the ceremony!

Desi is a true artist, a professional, and just a very pleasant person to be around. We feel very lucky that Desi was our floral designer. I contacted Desi just a week before the wedding, when I decided that I need to hire a florist instead of putting together flowers myself. Fortunately, Desi was available the next Saturday. From the moment I spoke with Desi on the phone, I knew that I'm in good hands and our flowers will look great. Desi asked me different questions about how we envision our flower arrangements. Together we agreed on a few colors and types of flowers. However, a few days later I thought it would be best not to stick to just two colors, and asked Desi to mix in other colors as well following her taste and inspiration. The flowers looked stunning! Moreover, we have also decided to add 3 bridesmaids and groomsmen the day before the wedding. Desi was so flexible and understanding that she designed beautiful bouquets and boutonnieres for our wedding party right before the wedding and didn't even ask us for a separate payment for them. The price was affordable for us and the quality exceeded our expectations. We are so glad that we decided to use the services of Desi's Floral and Design Studio instead of arranging the flowers ourselves on the day of the wedding. We highly recommend Desi Parker to everyone!

We had a very small wedding, but Desi treated me with as much attention and care as someone having a huge wedding. I described what I liked and she made my bouquets even more beautiful than I could have imagined. She was prompt with delivery and everything was just beautiful. Desi was a joy to work with and made our floral vision come true at our wedding in May 2014! She created gorgeous centerpieces, aisle decor, bouquets, boutonnieres, and decorated a wooden arbor for us, all with very fresh and vibrant flowers, branches, vases, and linens. The flowers stayed fresh the whole night and created a beautiful rustic but classy atmosphere! I was so late in finding many of my vendors. I found Desi barely 3 weeks before my wedding. She took on the bold task of creating all of the florals needed for a wedding just by speaking over the phone. What she created was the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen at a wedding. They were unique and she found everything that I asked for even when they weren't in season. She even grows many of her own plants she uses. I loved them so much, I couldn't throw any of it away. I have kept them to preserver and they're still beautiful. Such great work and such a great person!

Desi is a master of floral design and works! She took every discussion and shared imagery we covered and made it all into one unique vision. I trusted her to show me what was best for the season in the Fall color palette and she blew me away! We have had so many guests at and from the wedding say that the event just would not have been what it was without our flowers. I couldn't agree more! The colors were vibrant, the bouquets and table decor were varied and unique, no one grouping looked exactly the same. To work with Desi, she is ever so accommodating, excitable, creative, levelheaded, encouraging and energetic! I would do it all over again just to enjoy our flowers again. I took them on our honeymoon and had them in the rooms to look at each day, they lasted and I received so much enjoyment from her work!

Desi took the time to understand what my husband and I envisioned for our wedding with great results. The flower and décor made the picture pop. All of our guest are still talking about the décor and how beautiful and fresh the flowers were. Desi even provided us with easily removable containers so we could send table arrangements home with guest and enjoy them in the cabin we rented for the weekend. I cannot thank her enough and will never forget the our beautiful day. I would recommend her to any bride. Thank you Desi!

Desi did the flowers and oversaw the table decor for our wedding in October. Everything was quite literally perfect. When I saw the bouquets and table arrangements, I was blown away. It was all more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Desi is also so amazing to work with. She knows how to listen to her clients, but also has a wealth of knowledge about flowers and decor and can help you decide the best way to execute your vision. I felt that overall, it was perfect service and an amazing value. I can't recommend her more highly.

After looking at various florist in the Hickory area, my photographer recommend I look into Desi's work. After meeting with Desi and seeing her work, I was truly excited to see what all she would come up with for my wedding. She helped to give me the idea of creating a small arbor with her decorating it for the wedding. Needless to say, it turned out awesome! She is easy to keep in contact with and she is able to tune into the client's wants. Love her work! She makes it seem effortless and she also produces great value for the money.

I cannot begin to say enough about Desi and her high level of professionalism, artistic creativity, personality, and overall ability to create the perfect floral designs to complete your wedding day! 5 stars simply isn't enough to rate how incredible she is. From the very first time we met throughout my wedding day she stayed in touch with me and helped me with the perfect vision for my wedding day. In fact, after a few chats with Desi; I gave her my colors and a few flowers I liked and told her to use her imagination with the rest. I could not have been more pleased. When she first delivered our bouquets and boutonnieres I was overwhelmed by how beautiful they were. I then watched Desi transform a lawn into a beautiful lounge area using hay bale seating and lanterns. I was married at a winery in the vineyard and the reception was at the winery tasting room and lawn. I was able to see the winery prior to arriving at my ceremony site and it was breathtaking. When I arrived at the vineyard and saw Desi's work on the wine barrels, arbor, chairs, and arrangements at the end of each row of chairs and the attention to detail was amazing. Desi-has a passion for what she does and it shows in the beautiful creations she makes. If you are getting married in the area, Desi's Floral and Design is the best choice for your florist. Desi is an amazing florist! She was great to work with and everything was gorgeous! She is so down to earth and from the initial consultation it was obvious she is very passionate about her job. I could tell from our first meeting that she is extremely creative, knowledgable about flowers, and experienced from the all the events she's done. I didn't have to look any further after I met with her. She was very flexible with our meetings and was prompt in responding to my e-mails/calls. She loves what she does and that is exactly the kind of florist I was looking for. All the flowers she did at my wedding (bouquets, boutonnieres, aisle, center pieces, food table, cake) were more beautiful than I could've ever imagined! Desi went above and beyond to make the flowers for my wedding a beautiful part of the day through such a stress-free process. She was in communication with me throughout the process whenever I had questions or comments through phone and email. Even with a few changes in the days leading up to the wedding, she was professional and in control and I knew everything would be taken care of.

The bridal bouquet and bridesmaids bouquets were more than I was expecting and of the highest quality. Her blend of locally grown flowers and other vendors strikes the perfect balance, and I know we got an amazing value. Desi knew I was flexible with my flower choices, and I'm so happy I let her design blend with my vision because the outcome hit just the right tone. The ceremony altar arrangements and centerpieces were all executed perfectly and keeping within our somewhat low-key aesthetic. I highly recommend Desi, especially for NC mountain area weddings and events.

From the beginning she totally understood my vision and took it to the next level with her design so that it was even better than I could have every imagined! She made sure she had a clear understanding of the floral decor I was hoping for and even referred to my pinterest board so that I could just share pictures I liked, instead of attempting to describe everything. She was always prompt in responding to calls and emails and was extremely felxible! I had to add an extra table at the reception last minute and she was willing to create an exra centerpiece free of charge! I would absolutely recommend her as a florist for your wedding or any event!!

Desi did such an amazing job on the flowers for our rehearsal dinner and our wedding. She was able to answer all my questions and make suggestions that kept everything in our budget. I loved working with Desi! She is so creative and accomodating. I was so pleased with our flowers the day of the wedding. She truly created a magical environment and was exactly what I envisioned. She was just a joy to work with and always available through email or phone. She sent me so many pictures and really worked with me to create exactly what I wanted for the wedding. Desi did an amazing job for my daughter's wedding! Outdoor venue at Leatherwood Mountain Desi designed an arch of flowers for the arbor that were magnificent!!! The aisles were decorated with mason jars of flowers on shepards' hooks. These then went inside to be the table decorations for the reception. Live flowers adorned the cake and so tastefully decorated. Everything was done with love!!! The wedding bouquests for the wedding party were beautiful ! A fall theme premeated the wedding and it just made the day spectacular. I would recommend Desi to anyone!! She is amazing!!!

I cannot say enough about Desi's Floral and Design Studio. My flowers blew me away. Desi was easy to work with and brought everything to the venue. She was professional, flexible, and had great service. She even grew flowers in her own garden just for my wedding! They were prettier than most flowers I see ordered. Desi really listens to you and delivers exactly what you asked for. The flowers turned out prettier than I saw them in my head. I would highly recommend Desi to any bride! Desi is the go to person for great flowers in Western NC! I had no clue about flowers AT ALL and she helped us put something together that was exactly what we envisioned! They were beautiful! What I found out after the wedding was our flowers froze the day before and she sent her assistant to buy all new ones and put them together. She was stressed, but I couldn't tell and had no clue until after! Now that's a GREAT VENDOR! Desi is so sweet and willing to go out of her way to make sure you get exactly what you want! She even made a toss bouquet last minute since I forgot mine! I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone in NC!

Desi provided the flowers for my daughter's wedding in Banner Elk. The bouquets were exactly what we wanted along with the other arrangements for our event. Desi also helped me with directing the ceremony which was on top of the mountain (with cows). She was very gracious and helped me with some stressful situations. Desi did an AMAZING job with the flowers for our wedding and was extremely helpful as our "day-of coordinator". The timeline that she put together for all of our vendors was super detailed and helped to make sure that everything went off without a hitch. We did wind up with rain on our wedding day, so that threw a little wrench in the works but Desi did a great job adapting and making the day beautiful.

Desi was wonderful to work with. I really wasn't sure which flowers to go with, just the colors I liked. She showed me some examples and helped me to find the perfect flower combinations. I didn't give her a lot of direction and she was able to take my idea and run with it. The bouquets turned out better than I had envisioned! She also had a great relationship with my planner, which made things go smoothly.

Desi was also really flexible when we had to make changes to the amount of tables and she threw in some petals for the asile runners. Desi was able to provide us with amazing flowers within our budget, and helped make our wedding beautiful.

I spent weeks searching the internet for affordable florals for my wedding. I was planning a destination wedding in only six months and doing it myself. Needless to say, finding a good florist was important. After receiving a reasonable quote from Desi, and feeling comfortable after speaking with her on the phone, I decided to go ahead and use her services, never having met her. I sent her a ton of photos of ideas I liked and she sent me a contract with a selection of beautiful flowers that could be used in the bouquets and for table and ceremony décor. The day before my wedding, my Maid of honor and I drove an hour to meet Desi halfway between our two locations (she was in Ferguson, NC and I was getting married in Arden, NC). This was the first time I met Desi and picked up all of the florals for my wedding. They were absolutely beautiful! I loved what she did and the choices she made and could not have been happier. While all florals are expensive, I found Desi to be the most reasonable after everything was said and done. She was also very flexible and worked with me however she could. I got tons of compliments on my bouquet and was very happy that I took a chance on Desi!

Desi was very responsive to what I imagined my wedding to be. She was receptive to all of emails and changes that I made to our arrangements. She also gave me a full refund for my bridal bouquet, which was wilted and mis-shapped when I received it (her assistant had made the arrangement and she assured me that it would not happen on my wedding day.) However, the day before my wedding she called to deliver my flowers earlier than my contract stated. Since my bouquet for bridal portraits had been wilted my mother said no and explained why. Desi then told my mother that we needed to talk because things were not clear, even thought it stated at the top of my contract the time the flowers were to be delivered. She agreed to deliver them at the time stated in the contract. Then on my wedding day, she delivered them earlier and told no one. I had also paid for two roses for a rose ceremony as a thank you for my parents to be left at the ceremony site. She did not leave the roses for that, so I had to whisper to the preacher to skip that part of our ceremony. Overall, I would say she was flexible and responsive, but I do not feel that she acted professionally and the quality of service was not what I expected for the amount that I paid.

I’m not even sure where to begin but Desi waits till the last SECOND for everything and over promises! When I questioned things I paid for and didn’t get she was not truthful and had lots of excuses. She hired her boyfriend to be our professional photographer! Imagine my surprise to find that out the day of the wedding! Don’t let her handle your cake because it won’t look at all like you ordered. She said it was being made by a cake designer but it came from the grocery store! I did demand a full refund on the cake and finally got it. Let’s just say my review is called One Hot Mess!

Stay far away

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve never written a review in my life, but as a consumer and a business owner myself, I think it’s my duty to warn others. Stay as far away from this woman as possible. At the time I hired her, I told her I’d be purchasing log slices and votives to go along with my centerpieces. She responded with “I have those for rent” to which I replied, “oh ok, awesome!” We also talked about including certain flowers and excluding others. When I reviewed contract it stated a certain number of centerpieces with no itemization and I thought nothing of it. I figured “centerpiece” was all encompassing and not itemized. On the day of my wedding, I received photos of centerpieces that were literally accent flowers at best. Horribly tiny and lacking. They looked absurd sitting on the tables. When I confronted her I was told it was a “miscommunication” and that she didn’t include those things on contract. She then suggested I have someone go to Hobby Lobby (my wedding was on a Sunday and happening in just a few hours) to fix it. Even though she’s local. She blew up my phone making excuse after excuse. I arrived to a bouquet with dead plants. Not drooping, dead. The boutonnières were horrendous, we picked the least awful of the three for my husband and trashed the rest. I sent her photos of the dead flowers and she responded “you could have had your coordinator pick them out”. Most of the flowers we discussed were not included. When I asked her about a particular one, she told me it was out of stock. Never consulted me on replacing it. My hairdresser who was present for her absurd phone calls said “I really wish I knew that’s who you hired, I would have told you to stay away, she was a no show for our event.” I’m sure she’ll argue with me in the comments on this just like she does with everyone that gives her a bad review (also a red flag from a business owner) but I won’t be participating. I never even asked for a full refund. At no point did she offer or even ask how she could make it right. My cousin literally redid every single one and saved the day, but she shouldn’t have had to. I’ll sum it up by saying, believe all her one star reviews because they’re on point.

I personally would not use Desi's Floral and Design again if I had the choice. I had some communication issues with Desi ranging from miscommunication to late responses and because of those issues, the result was a partial refund and termination of the contract/services. I don't agree with the way she handled the issues that arose but I think the majority of the problems arose from the miscommunication. So if you are considering using Desi for your floral needs, I would suggest reading her contract very carefully, don't be afraid to negotiate parts of the contract you aren't comfortable with, and if you sense any issues arising, clear them up before they turn into big issues that can't be fixed. And for general wedding planning advice, don't rush into any decisions regarding your florist or any other wedding vendor - take your time and make informed decisions after you've done your research.
