From finding his website to our first conversation, we were impressed by his talent and professionalism. We knew from his work that he was an amazing photographer, but what we learned on the wedding day is what an incredible person he is too.
On the wedding day, he made us feel completely at ease and captured every moment so naturally - nothing felt forced or rushed. He truly helped take the stress out of the wedding day.
The pictures are stunning: the lighting, the emotions, the candid moments, and the tiny details we did not even realize were happening. Looking through our gallery allows us to relive the entire day all over again.
Friends and family have not stopped complimenting the photos!

Best Wedding Photographer
Derek is the best choice if you are looking for epic scenery photos. He not only got photos of us with the Smoky Mountain fall colors once but twice two years in a row. He was the perfect choice for our engagement photos taken in and around the park. Additionally, he was one of the best parts of our wedding day. We love the outdoors and spend a great deal of time in the mountains. Fall is also our favorite time of year so he made sure that the color was there. Just when we didn’t think he could get better he did for our wedding. It ended up raining so we had to think of alternative ideas and they did not disappoint. If you want amazing photos, a photographer you can trust and someone who is fun just as much as he is kind. LOOK NO FURTHER. He is the real deal and we can never thank him enough.

The BEST wedding photographer!!
Planning our Tennessee wedding from 8 hours away in Indiana was a challenge, but Derek made it easy. He was always available, answered every question, and brought such a calm, positive energy to our day.
He hit it off with my husband and the groomsmen, which led to lots of laughs and great candid moments. You could tell he was truly enjoying himself, and that energy made the whole experience even better. He knew all the best photo spots and made sure every shot—with those gorgeous mountain backdrops—was perfect.
Derek went above and beyond, and our photos turned out more amazing than we could have imagined. Highly recommend!

My husband and I had Derek photograph both our engagement and wedding photos. Derek was always early, quick to respond to emails, professional, kind, and extremely talented. 10/10 Wedding Photographer
We are so glad we booked Derek as our wedding photographer! We got married at the Trillium in November of this year, and he did a fantastic job. His knowledge of the venue was helpful in completing pictures seamlessly, and he was an awesome person to have around for our wedding experience. We had a particularly big wedding party, and Derek was great at navigating the challenge of fitting us all. The photos themselves were returned to us very quickly, and we were blown away with his ability to capture the day itself. 10/10 recommend. Truly blown away. Derek did an incredible job from start to finish. From the very first conversation I knew that Derek was going to make my wedding vision a dream come truly. As an out of state bride I was very nervous and apprehensive in choosing a photographer, I saw Derek tagged in a lot of the magnolias photos and took a chance and watching his photos up until my day I was blown away how talented he is. Fast forward to my wedding day and I couldn’t believe the photos were actually ours. His work is jaw dropping our photos are incredible and worth every penny!! We are so happy we went with Derek to photograph our micro wedding! He fit in with our crew perfectly and was so easy going. He stayed on our timeline and made our vision come to life. Magical AF
We originally signed with a different photographer before finding Derek and had a terrible experience with communication leading up to our wedding. A few months go by and we discovered Derek and knew we had to terminate our previous contract with the other photographer. THANK GOD WE DID. Seriously, best choice we made and one of the best vendors we worked with throughout the entire process. He was incredibly quick with communication, personable, professional, and a complete blast. We got married at the magnolia with killer views, and this guy managed to capture them all. Did I mention I received all my photos back in 16 days as well? Every single person that sees my photos is in literal awe of how magical and dreamy they are. I look and feel extra AF, and as my boss put it “okay this is some Kardashian level ish”

In Love With Our Engagement Photos !
We booked Derek because we loved his portfolio and we were even more impressed when we received our engagement photos back. As someone who has never taken professional photos and had a lot of anxiety going into it, Derek was able to make the process fun and not stressful. This guy freaking nailed it!! He was a little out of budget but his work was so good I just had to have him be our photographer. And let me tell you, he was worth every penny and then some!!! Derek is the perfect engagement and wedding photographer. He was easy to work with during the entire process, highly professional, and I could not be happier with our wedding photos! My husband and I were initially worried because we are so awkward in photos, but Derek made us feel extremely comfortable during both our engagement session and at our wedding. He clearly knows what he is doing and captured amazing couple, family, and wedding party photos. I had a hard time choosing my favorite wedding photos to share because I love them all! He even let us add on a drone footage package about a month out from the wedding. Believe me when I say there is no better way to capture the beauty of your wedding/venue, especially in the Smoky Mountains. The best there is
Derek is one of the most talented photographers I’ve ever seen. We still don’t know how we got so lucky to have him photograph our engagement and wedding photos. His photos speak for themselves, but he has such an eye for how to get great shots. Our photos all turned out stunning. Every time we show them to others they are amazed. Not only were the photos great, but the turnaround time was insane. We had sneak peaks the day of/day after, and our entire album was ready in a week. On top of being very skilled, Derek is just a fun person to be around and work with. He makes people who aren’t very comfortable in front of the camera at ease. He also is a dog lover and captured shots with our dog at the wedding too. We highly recommend Derek to anyone, as he is truly the best.

The most talented photographer ever!
Derek is incredible. I don’t even know how to describe it but it’s so clear that he is doing what he loves and is meant to be doing. He sent me these the morning after our wedding and I just want to scream: “LOOK AT HOW TALENTED HE IS!”
A little context: we booked our wedding at The Magnolia completely sight unseen. We never met a single vendor in person until the day of our actual wedding. I saw Derek listed on the preferred vendor list for The Magnolia and instantly fell in love with his work. I reached out to see if he was available, he said yes and we signed a contract and paid in full.
Given the circumstances, we had no idea what to expect when meeting but it was instantly clear we made the right choice. Derek is one of those people you feel like you’ve known for years. He is fun to chat with and honestly just a really positive energy to be around.
Throughout the evening, Derek balanced taking advantage of when the lighting is best at different spots in the venue while also making us feel like we weren’t missing out on time with our guests. When he took our photos we felt lost in our own world.
Derek we can’t express enough gratitude for documenting the most incredible experience in the most stunning place. I’m in awe of your talent to capture the people in the photos every bit as much as the scenery. You are a magician.

We loved Derek’s portfolio and knew when wanted to hire him but it was no match to how much we adore our photos and are so in love with them! Scrolling through them is like reliving the day all over and the love leaps out of the pictures. He did a phenomenal job.

Newport Winter Wedding
My husband and I chose Derek to photograph our Oceancliff wedding in Newport, RI on 2/20/21. We fell in love with his work on his Instagram page and from the moment we spoke with him on the phone, we knew he would be the perfect person to capture our special day. Derek was so incredibly easy to work with--the perfect example is the first time we met for our engagement shoot. We figured out, about 20 mins before we were supposed to meet, that the place I chose required a paid license to use the grounds. Derek had just flown in from TN and I was so worried he'd be upset with us. Instead, he quickly pivoted and chose another beautiful spot without batting an eyelash. Throughout the entire process--engagement photos, navigating a pandemic wedding together, to our big day, Derek was an absolute pleasure to work with. He made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and our photos are truly beautiful. We get constant compliments on them. Derek is all around an incredible photographer!
My husband and I are so grateful we hired Derek for our engagement photos and wedding day. He captured the most beautiful moments of our love, and we could not be more grateful. Derek was professional and personable from the first day I spoke to him up until our wedding day. Our wedding was postponed due to the pandemic, and Derek was very accommodating throughout the process. Our wedding party and guests complemented how personable Derek was at our wedding, and how in awe they were seeing our wedding photos. We received our photos back in less than a week for both sessions! He is very knowledgeable in his field and has a beautiful eye for lighting. Derek captured the perfect moment
From the first email to the day of our session, Derek was a phenomenal person to know and to help us capture our special day. He was always professional, honest and straightforward with his directions. I was a bit nervous since I didn’t have everything planned out and had never been to the smokies, but Derek was able to offer his advice and had a back up plan just in case. This made me had a lot more ease the day of our session. When it came to our session, Derek was awesome! He was super conversational, funny and was up for capturing our vision at every stop. Derek was so awesome to work with. He quickly responds to all the questions you may have along the way! We had so much confidence in Derek that we booked him 2 years in advance. I actually found him from our Venue Cobb Hull Estate in NH. He had photographed there many of times. After viewing his professional website & going through countless amounts of his photos it was a go! I wanted my wedding to be captured in the same way he was capturing others!!!
Our engagement photos came out awesome a year ago and then he photographed our wedding just 2 weeks ago !!!! During a crazy pandemic, Derek showed up and caught every part of our special day for us. I highly recommend Derek he did an awesome job and not only did Jake and I really enjoy him but the whole wedding party thought he was awesome!! Derek is a miracle worker.
We are so glad we had Derek with us to capture our special moments. He came up for both our Engagement shoot and our Wedding. He utilized multiple locations for each to provide us with a variety of photos to choose from which I greatly appreciate. He is personable which helped set us as ease when sharing intimate moments. He was able to suggest different positions, locations, etc, to really guide us to get the best shot. He utilized light really well to create some beautiful shots. Amazing Photos and Quality of Service!
Derek was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. He was personable, friendly and quick to respond to wedding communication. Due to COVID-19, our wedding plans changed several times. Derek was flexible and easy going and even helped us find a beautiful location to take our photos, despite the fact that he lives out of state. The day of the wedding, he made us feel comfortable and relaxed while taking our photos and we were blown away by the pictures! They are stunning! November 9, 2019 wedding
Derek is extremely professional and easy to work with. He made sure we were comfortable and had plenty of beautiful photos from our special day that we loved looking at together. I was blown away by them. And he got them back to us very quickly which was great because I’m super impatient! He talked us into doing a first look due to the fact that the sun would be setting early and our ceremony was at 5pm. We both were so glad we did it! We wouldn’t have had nearly as many photos together and it was a really special private moment for the two of us.

Throughout the whole process Derek was so easy to work with. It was so much fun watching him work at our wedding. Derek had been to our venue before, but he continued to be creative and try new shots and lighting techniques. His creative mind truly never stops innovating. Derek is such a talented amazing photographer. I have gotten so many compliments on my wedding pictures taken by him it’s unreal. During the weeks leading up to the wedding Derek would check in with me making sure we were on the same page about what I wanted and any images that were a must. During the wedding Derek handled everything with professionalism and did an amazing job at making certain we were getting the pictures we wanted. One of my favorite things about Derek is that he is so personable with everyone and does not make things awkward. That was one of my biggest concerns going in to choosing a photographer. Lastly, his creativity to get the perfect shot is outstanding. The uniqueness of the pictures he takes are another reason why he stood out to me when searching for a photographer. Derek was very personable, detail-oriented, and responsive to requests. I booked a destination wedding so I did not meet any vendors aside from the caterer during the food tasting. Derek was on the preferred vendor list that my wedding planner sent over so I did some research to look at reviews and to see his work. I was immediately impressed and submitted a request to have Derek photograph my wedding. We kept in contact during the months leading up to the wedding and set up a timeline for the day of so he knew where to be and when. He was very easy going, has an eye for detail, and took time capturing all the perfect moments using the best lighting, props, and scenery. Super happy with our pictures
My husband and I are soo happy we found Derek to shoot the most important day of our lives. I found him by researching pictures from my venue and found a post of his pictures. I fell in love with the style of his pictures and immediately reached out to him. He was prompt to reply and we set up a call. We decided to put down a deposit to hold the date, and signed the contract. I had also emailed him several times leading up to the wedding to ask about videographer recommendations and he was always very prompt to reply. We never met him in person before the wedding, but had a call the week of the wedding - he was very professional and organized.
He arrived on time the day of to the location we asked and immediately got to work. He was very pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable. He scoped out great lighting and made all the family portraits very efficient. We got sooo many great pictures and I cannot stress how happy we are with all of them. He caught so many great moments and I honestly don't remember seeing him there taking pictures during the hustle and bustle of the wedding day - which is how it should be! He also coordinated the first look between me and my husband which was one of my favorite parts of the day.
We got all of our pictures back faster than I thought and we are just so happy with the quality and accessibility. Highly recommend hiring Derek to shoot your special day! He was so nice and down to earth, he also has an eye for getting amazing shots. Cannot say enough good things :)

Where do I begin!! Derek is a phenomenal photographer with an incredible talent and eye for detail. I learned about him when he shot a friends wedding, and I knew right away I wanted to hire him for my wedding when the day came. Well, that day came in 8/31/18 and I had Derek do our engagement, and wedding photos. I am head over heels in love with the photos he provided us. I met Derek through my aunt who works in the wedding industry. She had so many good things to say about him. I was so glad I got in touch with him. He was nothing but accommodating for Alex and I. Come wedding day, it was a little hectic, but Derek remained so patient with me and my family. He did an awesome job getting tons of family pictures done in a short amount of time so we could get back to the party (Alex has a huge family). All of the pictures we have are AMAZING. He even went out of his way to do purple night shots of Alex and I. They turned out so unique and cool. During the reception he got all of us dancing and really captured the memories. Derek was also very quick to have all the shots edited and ready for us to view. It only took him a week, which I was amazed at since I know some other brides that have waited a month or longer. It was easy to view/download all the photos. I would highly, highly recommend him to any brides and grooms looking for an amazing photographer.

He worked with me to make sure we were able to get photographs for a surprise song I performed for my wife with no trouble whatsoever and overall helped capture all the wonderful moments beautifully. Derek was originally recommended to me by a raving former classmate and bride who had used him, herself. Now, having used him for my own wedding, I understand why she had so many amazing things to say. Derek was exactly the photographer you want to have at your back and behind the camera on your big day. Not only is he a creative genius and takes the most glamorous shots that my husband and I have ever seen, but he is such a wonderful professional and genuinely kind guy. He flew to Connecticut for our wedding and used the very limited time we provided (45 minutes during out first look and 45 mins during our cocktail hour) to capture photos of my husband, myself and my bridal party in the most organized and efficient way possible. He is extremely calculated; using the right angles, hardware and the natural environment to capture unbelievable photos. I could just say I love MY photos, but I love ALL of his photos of every couple he posts. On my wedding day, my pastor essentially ruined my whole ceremony and I was crying uncontrollably on our way to take photos during cocktail hour. Derek went over and beyond to have a heart-to-heart with my husband and I to reiterate that it was "our" day and that we were going to get the most amazing photos if we moved past the "bad" and let him help us catpure the "good". It immediately made taking photos a better experience and turned my attitude around for the remainder of my wedding day. My friends and family thought he was great. I had the great fortune of seeing Derek photograph my college roommate's wedding and was lucky enough to book him for our special day. He makes brilliant use of lighting everywhere and posted the most beautiful 'teaser' picture in what seemed like minutes after our wedding was over (all after making a long drive home for him). That was so exciting to see so soon after the wedding and made me relive the night all over again. His final photographs were in our possession so much sooner than I expected and I'm thrilled with all of them. I have to admit I was somewhat anxious to get them back thinking we may not have gotten all the shots I hoped for, but Derek is both a photographer ninja and hyper efficient with the time available. When I first reached out to Derek he responded with availability and pricing within a couple of hours and that responsiveness pretty much went for the whole process. I never had to wait more than a day to get a response. He was very affordable. I can’t thank him enough for capturing our intimate wedding in the smokies and driving up a sketchy dirt path to get to our venue haha. He made sure to capture the shots that we wanted and was very friendly. He took the time to get to know me and my husband before he started shooting. I was worried about not having met my wedding photographer since we were getting married in another state but he made the process very easy. Also I got a sneak peak less than 5 hours after we were married! And my whole album was done in two weeks! I have never ever heard of anyone getting professional photos with editing back that soon. If I could give Derek ten stars I would! My fiance and I were looking for a photographer who was able to hike to Mt LeConte (where my fiance proposed) in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park with us. This is a 10 mile round trip, not for the faint of heart, hike. In addition, the photographer had to have a CUA (Commercial Use Authorization) per the national park requirements. Being from Ohio, I couldn't met any potential photographer in person before our shoot. Let's just say I had some high standards and qualifications that had to be met to make this work.
After some searching, I found Derek. He called me right away after I inquired and said he was very willing to take on this adventure, he had his CUA, and would love the opportunity to photographer at the lodge. He also worked with me to set a fair price since he would be hiking to the destination with us and not photographing the entire time.
As we approached the date in which we had set for photos, the weather decided it wasn't going to cooperate with us. Derek was easy to get a hold of and we decided to move the date of the photo shoot back one day to ensure we had optimal, clear weather for the mountain photos.
Once the day arrived, Derek was on time and ready to go once we got to the trail head. We stopped for many photos along the trail and he even packed and carried the required lights and equipment in his backpack to get the best of the best shoots.
Overall, working with Derek was an amazing experience and I am truly grateful for his ambition and adventurous spirit concerning hiking and photographing in the national park. Even though the session was just yesterday, I already have an edited teaser photo from him that I am in love with. I can't wait to see the rest of them!!!
I would highly recommend Derek to anyone and he will get any of my future Smokey Mountains photography business.

Where do I even start with Derek, he was absolutely amazing!! Derek was referred to us by a friend and after looking over his portfolio we fell in love with his style and knew we wanted Derek for our day (even though he was moving away!) Luckily, Derek agreed to fly home for our engagement session and our wedding day! He was so responsive to questions we had and made sure that we captured every image we wanted on both our engagement shoot and our wedding day (even if we broke some of the rules ) He was so professional and made sure that we were able to move quickly through our photos so we could get the shots we all wanted and still be able to enjoy our day with our guests. The sneak pictures we have already received are PHENOMINAL and I am so excited to see all the rest! Thank you so much Derek for all the time and work you have put into documenting our wedding day! Derek is amazing! Planning a wedding in a different state definitely has its challenges, but one thing I knew that I did not have to worry about was photography once we booked Derek. Within hours of our wedding we had a sneak peak and 3 days later our entire online gallery! Please do not look any further for a photographer for your wedding! I promise you will not regret it! :)

When we met Derek, we had just come off a series of bad exchanges/meetings with another photographer that we had our hearts set on working with. We made lots of excuses that her lack of professionalism was worth the beautiful pictures. After the final time that she blew us off, we started back on the search for a wedding photographer. We met with Derek, a little bit frustrated with the process and were really blown out of the water. He was wonderful, extremely professional and respectful. He came with his portfolio and spent a significant portion of time in our meeting telling us about what makes him great and what training he had pursued to help him master his craft. He had thoughts, questions, and concerns that during the process of interviewing wedding photographers, I never would have thought to ask, such as the ability to take pictures in the dark. On top of that, Derek offered a style that differs from most photographers in Knoxville. Whether you want shabby chic/rustic feel or a classic sophisticated vibe, Derek can shoot it. My husband and I both immediately knew he was the wedding photographer we were meant to have and the experience did not stop there. He was very professional with setting up our engagement session. He was receptive to the places we wanted to do our photographs and he visited the sites to scope out ideas, picture spots and lighting. We spent a few hours in the morning taking engagement pictures and by that evening he had already posted several of his favorites. Less than a week later, we had all the engagement pictures from the shoot. The experience at our wedding was the same. He visited the venue in the days leading up to the wedding to determine lighting and where he could get the best shots based on the time we would be at the venue. You can tell when someone loves their job and I cannot give enough praise to Derek. I wish everyone put the same care and attention to detail in their jobs.

Honestly this whole experience was incredibly wonderful. He responded to all of my many questions so quickly and precisely. He was very accommodating while we were planning a day for the engagement shoot, and with the date and distance for the wedding day. Throughout the engagement shoot he made my fiancé and I feel comfortable, relaxed, and confident. Just a few hours after the shoot we already had one photo back, then 24 hours later we received a preview, and THEN a few hours later we received the final copies. His work is absolutely breath taking, and I've spent about an hour going through the photos. Derek is an amazing artist, and I cannot wait to work with him again on my wedding day.

I was insistent on getting married in the Smoky Mountains. A national park isn't the easiest spot to find quality vendors and the kind of shots we wanted weren't for the faint of heart. When I saw Derek's work on WeddingWire, I was pumped, but skeptical. How could shots this good be so reasonably priced? He was so cool though. He worked with our budget and was enthusiastic throughout the entire process. Derek had done some solid prep work online and had visited the area with his kids prior to the wedding date. Last minute, I asked him to show up earlier than planned on the wedding day and he was there without question. He captured the entire day. Seriously, no detail went unsnapped. I expressed the need for waterfalls and possibly a hike. He consulted with a friend to ensure we went to the best spot. He suggested leaving our enormous bridal party behind(sheer brilliance) and taking off after the ceremony. On the way, we pulled over unannounced and jumped in the river. He followed suit and started snapping. The hike to the falls was no joke. Once we arrived, my husband and I jumped in the falls and without missing a beat he was in too. He jogged back with us to ensure we made it back in time for dinner. Above and beyond doesn't begin to cover it. Not only would most photographers not be down with this kind of chaos, but most wouldn't be physically capable. When we got to the venue, he ensured we took more bridal party shots. I was checking out our pictures today(barely over a week after the wedding) and quietly sobbing. The shots at the waterfall look like a postcard. Beyond the majestic magazine level pictures, he really caught the spirit of the day. The love between my husband(so real) and I was so genuinely captured, none of that awkward posing. I don't know anyone that loved hundreds of their wedding photos. I'm so happy we hired this man. Working with him was truly a wonderful experience. He really helped take our day to the next level. Derek is amazing! My coworker told me about Derek after I had difficulty getting a photographer to even call me back. Within 20 minutes of an inquiry on his website he had called me to talk. I decided to book him immediately and couldn't be happier. He had never been to our venue and, on his own time, went to scope it out so he would be prepared and not waste any valuable wedding time. Our caterer was extremely unprofessional towards him but he remained totally professional and despite an extremely difficult lighting situation he was able to get amazing shots. Within a couple days he had posted some of my pictures, within 2 weeks I had my whole album available on line and the usb of my pics had arrived at my house. He is very accommodating, friendly, responsive, fair and a joy to work with.

I found Derek through wedding wire, and I feel like a hit the jackpot. Derek was wonderful. His work is truly art! He was very professional, but he made us feel at ease on our wedding day. He took some amazing shots on my parents property that made them special for us and my whole family. He really displayed his talent as he took photos in a forest, in a field, a barn and finally, lakeside on our dock. He worked with our budget, schedule, and provided our photos in a timely manner. We will be recommending him to everyone!

We met Derek last year when my now brother and sister- in law got married. We were in the wedding party and Derek was their photographer. Being engaged and planning my own wedding I paid close attention to photography. Right away I was able to notice Derek's professionalism, talent and attention to detail. While looking for photographers for my wedding that took place on 7/30/2016 I kept referencing the work I have seen of other photographers to the work Derek did and there was no comparisson. I knew I wanted Derek to capture our special day. From the first encounter about our wedding day to the very last moment of our wedding day Derek has been friendly, very approachable, honest, patient and nothing but accommodating. We had some difficulty with scheduling our engagement shoot due to my schedule and weather but Derek didn't disappoint again. He was understanding and accommodating. During the engagement shoot I was once again reassured that I made the right choice. The photographs were available very fast and they are breath taking. There were many things to worry about for the day of the wedding but photography wasn't one of them. Derek was there, punctual and ready to capture our special day. He made sure he captured all the special moments and I felt very comfortable speaking to him as if I had known him for a very long time. I could keep writing all the wonderful things about Derek's work but his photographs speak for themselves. My husband and I are so thrilled we chose Derek as our photographer. We love our photos and so does everyone else who has seen them. I have extraordinary photographs that reflect my extraordinary day forever and that is all thanks to his talent and his magic touch with photography. We can't thank him enough.

As a bride, there were so many wedding details to worry about and stress over leading up to the big day, however, the one thing I wasn't stressed about was how our photographs would turn out! After meeting Derek at our engagement shoot, my fiance and I instantly knew that we picked the right person. He's friendly, professional, and skilled at his craft. At our wedding I was very concerned with the tight time frame we had, but Derek moved the pictures along so that we would have plenty of time to get the pictures that we wanted but also enjoy our day. From the initial meeting with Derek, we found him to be personable, down to earth and extremely professional. We immediately made our decision to go with him for both our engagement pictures and wedding. Derek was a truly great person to work with. He was very willing to listen to our ideas for some of the photos we wanted and being honest when he knew that something was not possible. He captured amazing photos with out hardly being noticed! We got a teaser of some of our photos the day after our wedding, and received the rest within a week or so after! Derek was a wonderful photographer to work with, he responded to me immediately and was very professional. He met with me and my fiance prior to our wedding to discuss the venue as well as get to know a little more about us, in order to make our experience truly exceptional...which it was. We loved our experience with Derek. He was very accommodating and flexible with our needs. It was great going through the engagement session to get to know each other and understand our style preference. The day of the wedding, he was quick, easy-going and invisible but somehow captured so many moments. I loved his eye for angles and use of light, and even on a rainy blustery day, we were able to take some beautiful pictures outside. Where do I even begin? I was looking through pinterest, at several photographers profiles, in search of the perfect photographer. I came across Derek's Profile and instantly was extremely impressed. Truly the "next level" photography I was in search of. As im sure many can relate, my budget was very tight. I checked out his prices and was not sure I could swing it. Regardless, I felt compelled to reach out to him and pay him a complement on his work. From the moment we started talking he was a true joy to deal with. We came to an agreement and began planning. A week prior to our wedding we had a facetime interview to iron out all the details. Lots of laughs, valued insightful info, and general good conversation.
On our wedding day he was exactly where he said he was gonna be every moment. He captured things we didn't even see him photograph. A regular camera Ninja. His efficiency was unparalleled, idea's creative, attitude positive, availability on point, and I never had to look for him once. His photo's were truly superb and technique flawless. He even stepped in on a few things that weren't his responsibility. He saw a need and he took it upon himself to fill it.
My wife and I highly recommend Derek for any photography needs you may have. He was one of the best aspects of our wedding and a true blessing. Thanks to him we will have the best pictures to last us a lifetime.

Derek is extremely professional. He showed up early to our engagement photo session to set up and check in with us. Derek researched our venue and came prepared with lots of ideas for our shoot venue. Within a day, we had a sneak preview of several dozen pics and within a week we had access to our own personal online gallery with hundreds of photos. We felt very comfortable under his direction. Derik Halkett is an amazing talent and is much more than a photographer. He has an special eye to catch small moments and does not miss a thing. In addition, you hardly even know he is there. It is amazing that he captures everything,. He was my emotional support and my private bride's assistant. He is professional and a sweet guy and makes everyone feel comfortable.

Derek is an incredible photographer and person!!! He captured the most beautiful angels and moments. Having worked in Weddings and events as Marketing Manager at the Warwick Country Club I saw a lot of photographers, and I can say hands down go with him! From the time my fiancé and I first spoke to Derek he was the most personable, genuine and accommodating vendor. He did our engagement shoot while it was snowing and was adventurous which made the most amazing images! He was so unbelievably kind the day of the Wedding and we are forever thankful for all his help AND how gorgeous the photos we have to look back on the day!! We are so happy with Derek's work. He just did our engagement photos, and he made us feel so relaxed throughout the session. We went into the session thinking of it as a "practice" for our wedding to get comfortable having our pictures taken, but we could not be more satisfied with the quality of of the images. Derek did an incredible job of capturing the beautiful scenery, light, and sky, and we are so happy to have these photographs. Thank you! We can't wait for Derek photograph our wedding.

Derek was the photographer for a friends wedding and based on what I saw then I had no doubts about hiring him for my own wedding. Besides marrying my best friend, hiring Derek is one of the best decisions I have made. He is professional but down to earth and fun. He is easy to get in touch with and responds to any questions or concerns quickly!
He has a keen eye and ability to make a simple staircase into a phenomenal background. He truly captured the love between us and provided us with beautiful snapshots of a perfect day that we can cherish forever. The pictures were not just good but extraordinary!
If you are looking for a photographer stop looking. :)

Derek came highly recommended by a friend who recently hired him to photograph her wedding. He helped to make our wedding day the happiest day of our lives with his affable nature and sense of humor, flexibility, and professionalism. At the last minute he was able to change the hours he would attend our wedding. His staged shots are truly exquisite and surpassed my expectations.
