This is was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. The flexibility and care that was taken over the several months leading to wedding helped make our big day fantastic. Benjamin offered a calming presence, arrived early, and handled the little things without guidance like talking with the DJ, signing the marriage license, and organizing details of the ceremony to make it as perfect as possible. My wife and I also wrote own vows and Benjamin took time to read them over and provide us with printed write ups. I appreciate everything he did and would highly recommend.

Private Elopement
My partner (now husband) and I had been together for 20 years and finally decided to get married. We wanted a private, but special ceremony that we could video and photograph to later share with friends and family. Ben helped us to create a ceremony that was also a celebration of all our years together. He provided sample readings, helpful suggestions, and guidance. On the day of the service he was prompt, professional, and worked well with the photographer and videographer. He is truly a kind person and a professional. We highly recommend him!

Ben was wonderful. We had a stressful event happen just a couple of months before the wedding, shortly after booking with him! I was worried about not having enough time to get the details of the ceremony the way we wanted, but he assured us that he would be able to make it work and he definitely delivered! My mom, as well as many other family members, could not believe we “just found him online.” They raved about what a beautiful ceremony it was and were very impressed with him from start to finish! The Perfect Comforting Presence
We absolutely loved working with Ben - and we're so grateful to have had him as our wedding officiant. He was fantastic to work with throughout the planning process, and always made us feel comfortable and confident with our ceremony choices. Communicating with him long-distance was never a challenge, and he was always made us feel both heard and valued. On "our day" he was cool, calm and collected - and was the reassuring voice to our nervous energy. He encouraged my (now husband) to take one last deep breath right before I came down the aisle...the perfect gesture and solid advice.
During our vow readings and first kiss, he discreetly disappeared so the focus would be on us - we have so few photos of him!

Ben was amazing from the start, we began planning with only a 2 month window to the day. He gave us so much helpful information, we had no idea how any of this worked, and he tailored the entire thing around our backgrounds, and our personalities. Ben provided examples and lots of material to pick and choose from, and was super open to ideas from us and incorporating them into the ceremony. He kept checking in on us and helped make sure our moment was incredible. Ben anticipated every aspect of the day down to the smallest detail, so that when the actual ceremony began it ran so smoothly, it was as if we had rehearsed it several times (we had not!) And most of that is credit to him and his preparations for us and for the day. Also he was so genuinely friendly that after the ceremony he felt like part of the wedding party, I had people asking afterwards because he was so memorable.
Work with Ben and that's one less thing you need to worry about on your big day. We cannot recommend him enough!

"The most naturally beautiful wedding I've ever been to"
The ceremony can often be a forgettable or boring part of a wedding, but Ben helped us to create something that was memorable and beautiful. We were looking to have a ceremony that had a somewhat traditional structure, and was personal, meaningful, and not too religious. Ben met with us several times before the ceremony to help with planning, he responded to our needs and even made his own requests that made the ceremony better. In particular, he suggested adding a flower ceremony and a beer ceremony, which went extremely well. He even helped us write our vows, sent a ceremony outline, and was extremely open to the idea of swapping out traditional bible readings with poems and song lyrics.
Our wedding was truly unforgettable thanks to Ben. We were told that our ceremony was one of the "most naturally beautiful ceremonies" our guests have ever seen. I highly recommend Ben to help you plan your wedding.

We were not entirely sure where to start when looking for an officiant who would travel with us. Our amazing wedding planner Amber, recommended Ben to us! As soon as we spoke with Ben the first time, we knew he was going to be apart of our special day. He explained the entire process with ease and reassured us whenever I had questions. Ben is an incredibly kind hearted individual with such a positive spirit. Having him as our officiant was one of the greatest decisions we made for our wedding day. Can’t say enough good about Ben.
I’m not sure where to start with this review for Ben. He was everything we wanted but didn’t know we needed. His calm and down to earth personality, mixed with his calming voice got us through the most anxiety ridden 30 minutes I’ve experienced. The most memorable thing I can say about Ben, is when I first walked down the isle waiting for my now wife to walk down, he could tell how nervous I was and fighting to hold back tears already. I approached the arbor and as I stood there, Ben looked at me and told me to take some deep breaths, he led me through what felt like a mini-meditation exercise with him guiding it. Ben then told me, “feel this, live in this moment.”
He couldn’t have been more correct to stay present in that moment, that felt like it flew by. The ceremony itself couldn’t have gone any smoother with Ben leading. He is one of the most genuine and down to earth people we’ve ever met. He was genuinely interested in learning about our story, our relationship and our love, so he could encapsulate that in to the ceremony. I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else up there with us, leading our ceremony.

Me and my wife wanted a small wedding in a sentimental place with just family. It was both our first marriages (hopefully last lol), so we had alot off questions some simple and some complex. All off our questions were answered in a kind and happy manner, with helpful suggestions that were just that... suggestions. Never felt pressured and was given time to think and respond accordingly and ben was very happy to help. Also he even helped on the price as well and I think was fairly priced. The words he spoke at the wedding were very fitting with good flow as well. The last thing I'd like to mention is that he seemed genuinely happy, I'm a decent judge off character and I picked up on no condescension or fake tone off joy, the best way I can put it is imagine someone who genuinely enjoys their job. Thats ben. We definitely recommend him.

FANTASTIC Ithaca Microwedding !
I wanted to marry in Ithaca , where we met. I came across Ben's info on a number of websites, all with glowing reviews. I had a initial conversation with him that convinced me he was the celebrant for us, and that was confirmed when he sent me his basic ceremony. My fiancee and I then had a phone conversation with him , and he wrote a specific passage that reflected us , and our journey to marriage.
It was just the 2 of us, Ben and the wonderful witness he brought ! Ben was so helpful , thoughtful and supportive throughout the hastily assembled Valentines Weekend wedding. For us , it was PERFECT ! I can't recommend Dear Ceremony and Ben enough .

Benjamin was an absolute dream to work with. He worked with us to hand craft our vows and gave us a group of options to start from. We chose to keep it pretty minimal, but he worked with our requests and needs, and really took our outlook to heart to generate a perfect ceremony that felt personalized. Perfection does not even describe our ceremony!
All I can say is wow! Ben was absolutely amazing. My husband and I really did not know what we wanted for a ceremony. August Wedding
Ben was wonderful. When we couldn’t schedule a rehearsal because of timing conflicts, he was very thorough and informative with me so I could rehearse with my family. He was very flexible with options for verbiage which was great because my husband and I are not religious and don’t like the spotlight so we wanted something very short and sweet. He showed up early the day of the wedding to make sure we had all the essentials for the ceremony handled and was always very kind and professional from the first time I reached out to him, to the completion of the ceremony. Competent, experienced officiant who will help you craft a meaningful ceremony
Though we debated asking a friend or family member to officiate our wedding, I'm so glad we chose Ben in the end. My partner and I actually wrote the entire ceremony ourselves, but we couldn't have done it without Ben, who provided us with templates, examples, and invaluable guidance from the many ceremonies that he's done in the past. We also had multiple conversations with Ben before the big day where he asked us meaningful questions and helped us figure out what kind of ceremony we wanted to craft together. Additionally, he led a rehearsal the day before the wedding, which was hugely helpful. Since he's an objective third party, he could kind of tell people what to do in a way that wasn't awkward (e.g., maybe the ring bearer should walk a little slower) — plus Ben is incredibly kind, so he has a way of phrasing everything gently and positively. I felt like we could really trust Ben to pull the ceremony together and keep it together. I definitely recommend him

Ben was amazingly helpful and accommodating during both the preparations for our ceremony and the day of the wedding. My husband and I opted for a strictly non-religious ceremony due to being from different cultures, and Ben came up with a beautiful ceremony script and made many wonderful suggestions. Additionally, on the day of the wedding there was a huge thunderstorm right as the ceremony was meant to begin. The ceremony was originally planned to be outside, and at the last minute everything had to be changed and decorations moved to a covered location. Ben was very accommodating and professional, helped with rearranging of our wedding arch, provided emotional support when we were stressed about the rain, and very lenient about starting the ceremony late. We are very grateful for all of his help before and during our wedding!

Benjamin is an incredible officiator and writer - at least of wedding ceremonies if nothing else. From first contact to assistance after the wedding and every single step between he was our ideal officiator. He was helpful, kind, and passionate about his job. My fiancé and I were so lucky to have Benjamin be the officiant for our Wedding Ceremony a few weeks ago. Planning a wedding is stressful and Benjamin made this portion so easy. We contacted Ben to officiate our ceremony in Utica, NY which was a bit of a distance from where he lives. From the very first phone call, he was fully invested and willing to work with us. Even with the distance (we live in Albany), we felt we had the opportunity to get to know Ben and for him to get to know us as a couple. We took time to Skype and figure out what we wanted out of a ceremony. We absolutely adore Benjamin! He was amazing from the very start. We knew as soon as we met him that he was the one. He is a very sweet man and we would hire him again in a heartbeat. We cannot say enough about how important Benjamin was for our wedding at the Brooklyn Winery. As a bit of background: My wife and I debated quite a bit about what we wanted to do for our ceremony: we don't follow a single religious tradition and frankly we weren't sure if we wanted to have much of a ceremony at all. In the end, we contacted Benjamin and decided that we would see how we felt upon meeting him. Within a few minutes we knew we had made the right choice.
Benjamin is one of the most kind and sincere people we have ever met, and we instantly felt comfortable with him. Over the course of a few months, he guided us through the process of putting together a ceremony that represented what was important to us. After our first meeting, we instantly felt calm and confident about not only the ceremony but also the process of planning the wedding itself. This was an experience repeated many times as we met with Benjamin leading up to the big day. Speaking with Benjamin was always a source of calm and reassurance.
On the day itself, Benjamin arrived early to help us and our family prepare for what was to come, and almost every guest we spoke to made a point to tell us how moved they were by some aspect of the ceremony. It was important to us both that our family were direct participants in the ceremony and Benjamin suggested a flower exchange between each of us and our significant other's parents as a way to acknowledge their support and the union of our two families. This was one of many details that Benjamin recommended which connected with our guests and transformed something we had seen as a bit of a dated ritual into something intimate and personal that really brought us all together.
We can't recommend Benjamin highly enough. We never would have imagined what a difference a real pro like Benjamin would make in the planning process and on the day itself.

I have gone to other weddings that Ben has officiated and he is always calm, collective and pleasant. Something that is much appreciated on the day of a wedding. He is professional meeting with the couple planning and suggesting ways to make your ceremony what you desiree. No two wedding ceremonies are exactly alike. For my wedding Ben suggested ways to include our family member through a flower exchange it was a nice way for us to include the family members that were not part of the bridal party.
Having Ben officiant my wedding was also a blessing. My husband and I could not imagine anyone else. We were fortunate to have met through Ben, which made it extra special for us. Given our different faith backgrounds, we knew that getting married in a church or synagogue was not going to be an option for our ceremony. We were looking for a ceremony that took highlights from both our Catholic and Jewish heritages while keeping our marriage as the focal point.

My husband and I had the pleasure of having Benjamin Marlan officiate at our wedding in NYC. He was the first person to respond to our email and ended up being our first choice.
Benjamin immediately put us at ease with a polite and gentle nature. We felt a quick confidence in him as we got right down to business with a basic outline for us to review and a quick FaceTime to "meet" (as we live in Austin, Texas).
We were given numerous vow options that we could choose to add to our ceremony and all were well presented and allowed us to truly personalize the proceedings. One of the most special parts of the day was a reading to include a child into the ceremony. We share a 4 year old son with his two moms and it truly deepened the entire experience in such an unexpected way. Benjamin spoke directly to Ben (our son) and to us and it brought most everyone to tears in a wonderful way. It truly felt like it was written just for us.
I found Benjamin to be intelligent, sensitive and professional and our family and friends were equally impressed. I would highly recommend hime to anyone!

Benjamin was absolutely incredible! Since we were coming to NYC from Texas, he Skyped with us twice in the weeks prior to our wedding, PLUS worked with us extensively via email to make sure our ceremony was absolutely perfect. Couple that with his wonderfully-calm demeanor and second-to-none organization skills? Not only did we have a picture-perfect wedding, but we also have a new friend for life. Five stars aren't enough.

I believe, things happen in life for a reason. I originally contacted Susan Marlan to officiate our wedding. And had she been available, we would have never met Benjamin, her son who we ended up selecting to officiate our wedding. The way he conducted himself; The way he officiated our wedding; It was a very special moment. We can tell he truly wanted to be there; We felt love coming from him when he pronounced our marriage. Benjamin Marlan of Interfaith Ceremonies officiated our wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Prior to the wedding, we met to discuss the details of the ceremony, and clearly saw how organized and professional he was, he came prepared with a binder of samples from his previous work, vows and even suggestions for readings. As my husband and I sat and listened to Benjamin, to the details of his service and how he personalized it for us, we immediately knew we wanted to book him. We had no regrets! On the day of our wedding, we felt completely confident in his work. Benjamin incorporated special details, such as a flowering offering to our parents, wine sipping, and even a unity tree planting ceremony! Many of our guests complimented the clarity of his speech and the calmness of his tone. Benjamin even took the extra step in advising us about how to obtain the marriage license, which he sent out immediately after we all signed it. We received our certificate about a week after the wedding. I would definitely recommend Benjamin to any couple looking for a sincere officiant, who brought uniqueness to our ceremony.

Benjamin was amazing. He made our cerimony feel and look flawless. Everything we wanted, he implimented beautifully and guided us through all the emotional aspects. He was gracious and calming and the fanily got along great with him. Absolutely, I would recommend him and his services!

The ceremony was beautiful and wonderful. He was so calm and organized and really helped us make it through the ceremony. Even the very emotional bits went fine because Benjamin kept us centered.
I would DEFINITELY reccomend his services to a friend.
Also his flexibility was awesome. Since we were in Holland and he was over here, he made it very easy for us to get this set up.

All you have to do is speak to Benjamin Marlan on the phone and meet with him and you will instantly see that this man is so genuine and sincere! His way with words and how he expressed them so perfectly during our ceremony was the buzz of all our guests! We formed an instant bond with Ben and he worked closely with us to individualize our cermony and everything that was spoken evoked our special love and the our life together. We just love him!!!

Benjamin Marlan is a kind, genuine man with a very calming voice. His words were beautifully written and he is sincere when speaking them. He offers a beautiful ceremony outline. He is enthusiastic about incorporating any cultual traditions or special ideas to personalize the vision of the couple. Very adaptable to change. Stayed in contact with us from beginning to end. Greatest Officiant Ever
There was no considering another officiant once I read their info, perused the reviews and finally talked with them on the phone.
All I can say is book this person! I was so nervous because this was going to be a very small celebration and everyone would be staring at us just a few feet away. I had no idea what I wanted. I was so nervous about being put on the spot getting on the phone to talk about our ceremony but Benjamin made it so easy to chat - before I knew it we were all just talking about movies and stuff - I felt like I was talking with an old friend and forgot that we needed to talk about the wedding!
Benjamin left such an impression on us with a beautiful ceremony.
