My Go-To Wedding DJ, Every Time

As a day of coordinator, Day One DJ is my favorite DJ to recommend to my couples. Joe and his team bring the perfect mix of energy, hype, guidance, and professionalism that every wedding needs.

DJs are one of the vendors I’m most particular about because they truly set the tone for the entire day. They impact not only how the couple feels but also how guests experience the celebration as a whole. Day One DJ consistently exceeds expectations every single time. When they’re at a wedding, I have full confidence it’s going to be a great one!

What really sets them apart is how much they do beyond just playing music. They actively read the room, keeping the energy exactly where it needs to be all night long. They take on the role of MC seamlessly, guiding the flow of the day so everything feels smooth, natural, and stress-free. They are excellent communicators leading up to the wedding, handle both big and small details so couples don’t have to worry, and do an incredible job keeping guests engaged from one moment to the next. And of course, they keep the dance floor packed.

I have nothing but absolutely amazing things to say about Day One DJ and would recommend them again and again!

Great Music, Great Mixes

We were so happy we used Day One DJ. They made effort to learn our music taste, balance that with what gets our guests to dance, and they threw in some really special, amazing, nerdy mashups (like, for example, a danceable version of the Smash Bros theme). They were recommended by our Photographer, Adrian Steinbach, who I can't recommend highly enough. They also coordinated our ceremony audio, cocktails hour, and speech mics.

Loved working with Day One DJ!!

As a wedding planner I worked with Day One DJ a few months ago at a wedding and was BLOWN AWAY by how amazing they are to work with! I work with a ton of DJ's and they are for sure one of the best. They brought so much energy the entire night and the dance floor was one of the most packed dance floors I've ever seen! They were also so communicative the day of the wedding and leading up to - highly highly recommend and look forward to working with them in the future!

Best wedding DJ EVER.

We booked Joe through Day One DJ, and truly wouldn’t have had it ANY other way. He was literally a blast and truly AMAZING at what he does. He made the planning so easy and fun for us. He was flexible and so easy to connect with.

My husband is very into music and DJ’s. So he was very particular about who we booked for our DJ. He absolutely loved Joe. We still have people telling us that he was the best DJ they have ever seen at a wedding. Our favorite part about what Joe does is he never plays a full song or lets the music “end”. He’s feeling the crowd, what they’re vibing to, and always mixing one song into the next. Nobody ever got the, “this song is lame, let’s sit down or get a drink”. People did not leave the dance floor. We had so many people after our wedding ask about him for their future events.

Lastly, my husband was hot on the idea of booking the CO2 cannon through Joe for the dance. Two days before the wedding he texted Joe and was able to get it for us. It was truly so fun!

Joe is flexible, fun, and easy to work with. We would 10/10 recommend Joe to anyone for their wedding. He’s truly AMAZING!

Get your dance on!

Best DJ out there! Music and a giant dance party was our number one goal for our reception and we have never received so many compliments for Day One DJ and Guthrie. The party never stopped! Everyone was on the dance floor from the first song to the last. Including the bride and groom. We talked to a few other “popular” DJs prior to talking to Joe at Day One and they didn’t really listen to us. The second we got on a call with Joe - we knew he was the one! Professional, great communication and fun! Guthrie made sure the entire day flowed so smoothly.

Best dj ever!

Music is the one thing for me that could make our break our day from an MC/entertainment/vibes perspective. I’ve been to a ton of weddings where the DJ doesn’t do anything more than press play. Everything about Joe C was PERFECT! From the way he MC’d to the way he mixed, Joe C was an absolute magician on the 1s and 2s. He was extremely professional, attentive, and played absolute BANGERS. Everyone was on the dance floor all night and many of our guests said “best DJ ever!!” I would give him 100 stars if I could!

The dj of your dreams

Joe Osterberg was theeee best dj we could’ve asked for for our wedding. My husband and I were super hesitant to book a dj because we didn’t want the classic cringey cha-cha slide wedding dj 🥴 Joe could not have been more perfect. After filling out his online questionnaire, we turned things over to him and put full trust in him to deliver. We paid a bit extra for him specifically… and boy was he was worth every penny! Our ceremony sound was flawless, and our dance floor was SO FUN and perfectly us.

And for the anxious brides.. a week or two before the wedding we had a call where he walked me through the day and all of the cues he would make during the ceremony and reception. In those moments on the phone everything finally came together in my mind. It was such a relief knowing no one else had to worry about sound details- it was all taken care of. A vendor like that is worth their weight in gold.
Stop looking and just book him- you won’t be disappointed.

We love day one dj!

We can’t say enough good things about Day One DJ! We had seen how fantastic they were prior to booking them for our wedding- and knew we wanted them for ours- in fact they were one of the very first vendors we contacted! For the first phone call to the end of the night they made every single step easy, and FUN! Our DJ, Guthrie, is incredible. He perfectly MC’d the entire evening, going above and beyond, and played music that kept our entire dance floor packed. We had young and old, and everyone was in agreement- the music was great! We got several compliments on various aspects of Day One DJ’s service and truly can’t thank them enough for making our day so wonderful! Thank you Joe and Guthrie! You have forever fans in us.

Best dj ever!

Day One DJ was amazing. From the planning process to the actual wedding, Day One DJ made the process simple and enjoyable. Everyone at Day One DJ was so kind and willing to help in any way possible. Our DJ Joe was phenomenal. He made sure the ceremony music was flawless, kept all of our guests informed on what was happening during the social hour and dinner, and he made sure guests were having a blast on the dance floor all night long. From the music to the lighting and everything in between we could not have asked for a better DJ for our wedding. All of our guests continue to tell us how much fun they had on the dance floor! We would highly recommend Day One DJ to everyone getting married or having a party!

Day One DJ is the BEST

Joe with Day One DJ was beyond what we could have expected for our DJ. Joe made everything so seamless for us. You can really tell that he loves what he does and he is GREAT at it. He had everything under control and made me as a bride feel so at ease and relaxed and I was able to just enjoy the day! We received SO many compliments from our guests about how great our DJ was. Joe was so good at entertaining and getting people involved and mixing and blending songs. It was a hit and he always had people on the dance floor!
I would recommend Day One DJ to anyone. You will not regret it!!

Incredible Experience! Love Guthrie & Joe

You need DayOne DJ for your wedding!! From our first initial meet and greet, Joe was so wonderful to work and talk with. He was great at communicating back and forth, especially handling our wedding changes due to covid and was so flexible with us. Guthrie was our day of DJ and he did not disappoint!! We absolutely adored him and our entire bridal party did as well! He got everyone excited and the room full of energy beginning with the grand march. He handled the speeches so well and the transition into the dance. I don't think there was a single point of the night where there wasn't a crowd on the dance floor! Thank you so much Joe and Guthrie for being apart of our vendor team, we truly appreciated your part in our special day! Amazing job.

The absolute BEST!

I could not have been happier with booking Day One DJ for my wedding! Joe was our dj, and he was so fun, flexible, and professional throughout the whole process. We had to change all of our plans due to the pandemic, and Joe was super willing to work with us through all of the changes. The music all day was perfect, and Joe completely understood our music style and is a pro at reading the room. Would 100% book again and am recommending Day One to all of my engaged friends!

Best DJ around

Guthrie was an amazing DJ! After our ceremony while we were taking pictures he offered to help take down chairs from our ceremony. SO helpful since it was at a private residence and we were responsible for everything. Music was exactly what we requested and more!!! Would recommend him to everyone and anyone.

AWESOME - They need to be your DJ!

Joe and his team are simply awesome! Just by reading the other reviews and hearing that our venue recommend Day One DJ to us we knew we wanted them at our wedding, but after having an initial meeting with Joe, it was obvious that they were the DJ for us. Joe was so great about answering any questions along the way (even non-DJ related ones). Guthrie was our DJ for the night and we couldn't be happier with how it went. He's very easy going, and we didn't have to worry about anything -he did his thing and it was great! He even stepped in and said a quick blessing when our Pastor was mia. Thank you, Day One DJ, for making our night so special!

Awesome--can't say enough! :)

Our wedding venue enthusiastically recommended Day One DJ for our wedding ceremony and reception, and we couldn't be happier to have followed their advice! Joe helped us plan our MN wedding while we were in Seattle, and in addition to being great at his job, he was a genuinely wonderful human. The online planning services were great, as we changed our minds on our ceremony structure and music choices a few times. The ceremony was perfect--great transitions in and out of music, and the microphone/sound for our officiant and our vows (and the speeches later on) was stellar. We got so many compliments about the music/DJ, and the energy was sky high--the floor was packed all night! We can't say enough good things!

Choose Day One DJ!!!

We recommend Day One DJ over and over and over!! Our experience with Joe was perfect from
our initial sit down meeting to the big day. First of all, he put us at ease and made planning extremely easy. Second, his communication was impeccable (which is a dying art these days). Third, our reception could not have gone any better. He did SUCH a great job of reading the crowd and played music accordingly. Our dance floor was never empty and we can honestly thank Joe for that. I cannot count on my 2 hands how many times we have been asked who our DJ was because our guests LOVED him. Thank you so much - you were great!

Highly recommended DJ

Day One DJ was amazing! They were very responsive and personable to work with. We had Guthrie as the DJ and emcee for our wedding, and we got way more than we were expecting! Guthrie was able to interact with guests during cocktail hour and get a feel for the crowd which made the dance reception even better. He was flexible the whole day if the timing for events was changed. He was able to keep our guests on the dance floor the whole reception. Overall this company was so great to work with and helped make my wedding day stress free.

We attended a friend's wedding who had Day One DJ as their DJ (Joe), and we basically hired him on the spot. Our wedding was amazing and better than we expected even after seeing him at another wedding! He brought another one of his DJs with as well, which allowed him to be even more active. He kept the dance floor full the entire night, and I've never seen so many people on a dance floor at a wedding at once. I wish I could do it all over again. Hopefully some of my friends will hire him after going to our wedding.

Day One DJ made our wedding reception! We chose them based on being a preferred vendor by our venue, and upon my initial call to the company I found out Joe (owner) was unavailable on our date. He recommended one of his employees, Guthrie, after telling him a bit about our wedding and us as a couple. I was extremely hesitant at first because we knew how important the 'party' part of our reception was, but I decided to move forward with Guthrie knowing the rave reviews Day One had received online & from my venue. We were NOT disappointed! Not only was Guthrie extremely available to us (offering his cell to text/call leading up to the day of the wedding), but he had an amazing attitude every time we spoke and the entire day-of. We have continued to get compliments on 'our DJ' at our wedding every time we speak to a guest. They were also awesome at communication- keeping me on track throughout the planning process w/a check-in at 6 months, 3 months, and monthly to weekly after that. Super impressed with the service received and the fun provided by Guthrie & Day One DJ.

We had a last minute situation and need for a DJ. When I called, Joe was quick to figure out a plan and acted like he'd had spent all the time in the world to plan our night. It was an amazing reception and Joe did a fabulous job! He accommodated the kids requests so well. It wouldn't have been the same without him, and the energy flowed so well through all the transitions of the evening!

Joe is professional, organized, fun, and overall a wonderful DJ! We had a very large wedding with many people who LOVE to dance. Joe's music choices and transitions between songs was flawless. He literally ran the reception. He got people seated, assisted with speeches, and led people from dinner to dancing in a timely fashion. Loved working with Joe! He was super friendly, professional and timely. On our wedding day he went out of his way to make sure we stayed on our timeline and spent time getting on the dance floor pumping people up. Would recommend him many times over!

Day one DJ is AMAZING! From day one they wanted to know how to make our big day perfect. They made our reception very personalized. Go with Day One DJ if you have a group who likes to party and you are ready to dance!

Our DJ was Joe C. ! From the start, he learned who we were and what type of music we loved and the type of guest we were having at our wedding. Love love loved, JOE C! We highly recommend Joe C. to be your DJ/MC.

Made our day truly special. By the end of the night Joe felt like family. He managed to get every guest up on their feet and dancing. I have never seen that at a wedding before! Highly recommend!

We had our wedding completely outdoors at a private residence. Day One DJ was absolutely amazing and worth every single penny. All the way up until the day he was available and open to working with us and answering any questions we had. Joe was there early to set up and really rolled with whatever we needed. He was open to last minute changes and really helped keep the night moving smoothly. He interacted with my guests and I got SO many compliments about how much fun he was. His experience in the field and knowledge he was able to share with us was key. Joe is absolutely THE BEST in the business.

If there were 10 stars, I’d give Joe that. It was important to me to have a DJ that kept the night rolling and kept the dance floor full. He did just that. His professionalism and speediness to responding to questions goes above and beyond. Also helpful with non-music related questions. Eager to assist. So friendly and so easy to work with. He truly wants to make the night the best possible! I couldn’t have asked for a better DJ. I HIGHLY recommend Day One DJ, and only recommend Day One DJ.

If there were six stars to give Joe earned them! Joe did an amazing job making one of the most special days of our life special and memorable. Joe's service is above and beyond either of our expectations, we could not have done it without him. When there are so many vendors to coordinate things can get crazy. Day One DJ is a preferred vendor at our venue and I am SO happy we went with Joe. He was super easy to work with and very quick to respond to every email and call. He kept everyone on the dance floor and I am receiving so many compliments about how fun the wedding was. Joe kept me to my timeline which I was so thankful for as the night went on and we got distracted with our guests. Joe clearly loves his job and it shows. He does a great job interacting with everyone and is a genuinely fun and likable guy to have at a wedding! He played music that kept everyone engaged and having a great time. I have seen many DJs who seemed bored or uninterested in getting involved with guests but Joe brought a fun energy and was an amazing vendor to have at the wedding!

We found Joe at a friend's wedding last fall and knew we needed to have him as the DJ for our own wedding. The way he was singing and dancing along just as excited to be there as the wedding guests led to a great atmosphere at their reception. He definitely didn't disappoint for our own wedding. He was responsive and helpful throughout the wedding planning process and his online planning worksheet was perfect, making sure we didn't forget anything and he was kept in the loop as far as our plans for the reception! All my guests LOVED him, and he kept the dance floor packed ALL night. I will highly recommend him as one of our favorite wedding vendors to everybody I talk to!

I have never written an online review before, However since our big day over a year ago, I have often thought about how integral Day One DJ was to making our event so amazing and that I should really let people know THAT THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE DJ YOU WANT FOR YOUR EVENT. From friends and family, we continue to get comments about how our wedding was "the best ever," and "so much fun." Day One DJ is amazing -- easily the biggest reason why our reception was such a hit. From the initial planning stages, Joe kept in constant contact. I never once had to initiate communication (such a relief for a bride!) and he told us exactly what we should be planning at what time. He gave us plenty of great song suggestions when we needed help for the parent dances, he listened to us completely when we told him our musical preferences for the cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing, and his flexibility shined through when he allowed us to make last minute changes to our grand march song. He kept the dance floor packed the entire night and we had so many guests comment how great our DJ was. We highly recommend Day One DJ and will definitely use him for all future events. I had day one DJ for my wedding in January and Joe did awesome. We recommended him to some family members getting married in December and recently just attended it. All I can say is he's the best. Like a fine wine he gets better with time! Kept people on the dance floor the entire night, everyone was having a great time and raved about how well it went. Collection of music stays up to date while also playing the old classics.... we will be sure to recommend in the future.

Joe was the DJ at our 50th day of school Sock Hop. He made the PTO event easy and stress free for us, and gave the kids everything they could want out of a school dance! The music, the dancing, the screaming, the fun! He had more kids on the dance floor than we have ever had doing our own music and he engaged them for the entire two hours. Thanks Joe! Day One DJ had a huge part in making my wedding celebration a memorial success! His uplighting lit up my venue. Joe was just great to work with. He did some amazing work with putting together a very special memorial video for us. He helped my fiancé and I throughout the entire night, making sure our events we had planned were getting done and we stayed on task for timing. He had the dance floor filled all night, song selections were a big hit! I am still hereing from my friends and relatives that they had the best time and it was one of the best receptions that they have been too:) and for you bride and grooms that will be having the single ladies attending.... my girls said he was also very easy on the eyes... lol ;)

Joe's passion for being a DJ is very apparent. He is amazing at what he does. The dance floor was packed and it was because of his interaction with the guests. We had so many compliments about his professionalism and personalism.

Trying to find the perfect DJ can be hard, they set the whole mood for your wedding and really create the vibe! We had searched around for a couple of weeks before finding Day One DJ. From the moment that we spoke, we knew we wanted him to play at our wedding! He was very personable, willing to meet in person as well as talk over the phone and made sure our day was perfect. We are still receiving compliments about how great and fun he was from our guests (they have each told us multiple times :)) we would highly recommend him!! Thanks so much, Joe!

Joe was so great to work with. Not only was he incredibly personable from the very beginning, he helped our wedding run so smoothly. We had guests requesting his information for their own events before the dancing had even begun! He was prompt, he was willing to work with our musician and our caterer, and he of course kept our dance floor going all night. Anything we needed, Joe was there to help. He was quick responding to our emails and phone calls, he was polite with guests.... My husband and I cannot recommend him enough. Thank you for making our day an absolute dream, Joe!!

I'll start off by saying this: I never wanted to have a DJ at my wedding. But my then fiancée insisted we meet with Joe just to see. I knew within about a minute of talking to him that we were going to hire him.

Everything went perfectly. His setup was great, the music was always cued up on time for the ceremony, the processional, and even the music he mixed for the flash mob that my mother in law planned was spot on.

He kept the event moving all night, making announcements at different times during the night, coordinating speeches and ensuring people knew where to be. He kept the dancing going all night, played the music my wife and I said we wanted, and took a couple requests when I asked throughout the night.

Overall I can not recommend him highly enough. If you have a DJ for any event, it should be him.

We would highly recommend Day One DJ/Joe for any event but especially for a wedding! Joe was an amazing addition to our wedding! He was helpful and responsive through the whole wedding planning process and was incredibly fun on the day of! He kept our friends and family on the dance floor all night and you could tell when you looked at him that he was having just as much fun as the rest of the guests which was really nice to see!

As a small business owner myself I like to support other small business owners. When it came to hiring a DJ we weren't sure where to start and Day One DJ was referred to us through our venue. Joe was amazing throughout the whole process, he was extremely flexible when it came to meeting and going over ideas and he was timely while emailing us back and forth. As a bride there is nothing more important then communication and promptness when it comes to making decisions and working with your vendors and he never disappointed. Joe's knowledge and professionalism made working with him simple and easy. On our wedding day I think Joe was dancing and having as much fun as our guests and we loved seeing that! My wife and I had a smaller wedding because we are both on the quiet side. We asked Joe to accommodate this and he was very receptive and acted as our mentor of sorts during the whole process. Honestly, without his guidance this day would have fallen apart as we had an issue with our officiant and he stepped in at the last minute to make this happen. We are so thankful to have found Joe and have him as a part of our special day.

My husband and I are so incredibly happy that we chose to go with Joe @ Day One DJ! He was a recommendation by another bride who said that their guests were raving about him after the reception. We have nothing but fabulous things to say about our DJ, and, our guests have the same comments! Joe made our event seamless by dismissing tables to eat, taking over the "kissing" game, ensuring our events stuck to a timeline, and keeping the dance floor full. He was responsive to our musical wishes but also kept the dance floor full by mixing up the music as needed. And, even he was on the dance floor with us!

My husband and I could not have been more pleased with the services provided by Day One DJ on our July 2015 wedding day. Joe, the owner, was thorough in planning and preparing for our event with us, flexible, professional, reliable, and personable. The entire day, including our ceremony and reception was entirely seamless largely due to him. Day One DJ offered an AMAZING DJ service for our wedding. He was extremely professional and timely, especially when working on a flexible timeline. Joe from day one DJ was amazing!! He did our ceremony, dinner, and reception music! Joe was awesome! From our initial phone call, through all the planning, to his awesome performance at our wedding he made me feel like he would do all he could to make the night a success and he delivered! He took to mind our preference and was great at getting people out on the dance floor without being cheesy. He also did a great job with honoring requests and really seemed aware of what was happening. I'm not big on the clinking of glasses to make the bride and groom kiss and after the first time it happened he popped over to see if he should shut it down. I really appreciate his hands on approach and all the energy he brings! I will highly recommend him to anyone I know looking for a DJ! He is so much more!

Our initial contact was with Joe. He seemed really excited and seems like he really enjoys his job. We didn't have Joe for our DJ. We had Eric. Phone contact was great with Eric prior to our wedding. We went over everything. Everything went fine at the wedding however, Eric wouldn't play a lot of our guests requests (from what we were told). People would have to come over to me and say, "I'm going to request a song, will you nod your head when we look at you so he'll play it?"
He told me he would play KS95 type music during the dinner and there were some weird songs in the mix. My husband asked him to change the song when REM's "everybody hurts" was on. Seemed annoyed...
Later my my flower girl was falling asleep and she hadn't heard her favorite song yet. I went up to the booth to see if he would play "shut up and dance," after telling him my flower girl was falling asleep and she really wanted to hear the song. He said "well, I'm kind of playing country right now...." .....?? okay? (I don't think anyone would question playing a country song, then a pop song and then back to country if that was his plan). I probably just looked confused - didn't say anything and just walked away. Thankfully he then played it.
Overall, he just seemed annoyed if we asked him to change anything or request something different than he had in mind.
Sound was great, ceremony was great for sound as well. Just a tad annoyed with the service I guess.

Edit: Joe, the owner reached out to us shortly after our wedding and was quite upset to know that Eric wasn't what we expected. You could tell Joe felt terrible about the experience. He went above and beyond to try to make it right. You can tell Joe really cares about his business, he is profressional and he wants to provide the best service to his clients/customers. We were also informed Eric is no longer with the company.

Joe was an amazing DJ. He is very communicative, flexible, organized, and will bring an amazing sound and presence to your event. Joe knows how to mix his tunes. He easily accommodated a wide variety of different music and there was never a dull moment.

Joe from Day one DJ was AWESOME! He played all the music we wanted to hear and kept the dance floor packed. I would totally recommend him and will have him again at future events! He was quick to respond with any questions I had prior to the event and was very courteous and professional. Thanks Joe, we had a great time!
