A day of perfection for a lifetime of memories. This is the immediate thought that comes to mind when we think of our wedding experience with David. He is truly a special, thoughtful, and talented photographer without whom our wedding day would not have been the same. David was with us the entire day, from bright and early as the wedding party was getting ready all the way into the after party - well into the early morning of the following day. David was there to capture each and every moment to ensure that we will be able to look back on this special day for the rest of our lives. Critically, prior to the wedding David spent significant time scouting the area around Big Sky, Montana (where the wedding took place) to find the best spots with the best views, in order to capture truly majestic photos of us. Of note, we made this process a bit more challenging as the bride has severe allergies to most of nature - despite this challenge David went above and beyond to accommodate us and found the spots that would beautifully capture us without causing any unfortunate allergic reactions! We are so grateful.
The process to work with David for our wedding began months earlier during our wedding planning. Immediately upon talking with David it became evident he was the perfect choice to capture our wedding - a choice that has now proven not only the right one, but also the one we would advise to all couples looking for a wedding photographer in the future. In fact, we would recommend David for any and all photography requests/services, and if ever needed in the future, we would definitely check to see if David would be willing to travel because of the incredible work we know David provides with his photography.
In our experience working with David, it was obvious that he really cares about his clients - both in ensuring they receive the utmost quality product and in meeting the challenges of whatever the client has envisioned. David worked hard to develop a connection with us that gave us the confidence to trust that he would capture any and all photos we wanted on our wedding day. A wedding is unquestionably one of life’s major milestones, in the same vein as the birth of a child or graduation. For such an unique and special moment, we can confidently say that David is the perfect photographer to capture the moment. A couple only gets one chance to photograph their wedding and knowing that David was there gave us the ease of mind, so that we could focus on each other without wondering if every moment was being recorded. One of the aspects of David’s photography that we really loved was his candid shots, which so perfectly captured the raw emotion of the day – a memento that we will be able to look at and remember forever. Something that was really important to the bride was photographing certain lifts and dips in our first dance. Despite only having a few milliseconds between the poses, David sprinted along the side of the dance floor to make sure he photographed everything, and the shots are truly amazing. He even brought a polaroid camera for some fun polaroid shots throughout the day.
As we write this review, we sit here in awe of the stunning photos we received from our wedding. Ultimately, we want to convey to anyone looking for a photographer for their wedding (or other photography service) that David is absolutely the best photographer for the event. We also want to emphasize that David is a genuine, kind-hearted, and all-around amazing person, and we are so grateful we had the opportunity to work with him for our wedding.
We highly recommend David Clumpner as a truly skillful photographer, and we hope anyone reading this review gets a peace of mind in choosing him for your special day or other event.

I was lucky enough to have David as our wedding photographer. I don't think I can even write a review good enough to explain how amazing the overall experience was. Since day one, David was highly organized, responsive and professional. Months before the wedding he asks personal questions, sends thoughtful cards and stays in communication with you every step of the way. Then on the actual day, he was everywhere! Dipping and dodging snapping away. He was assertive(in a good way) when he needed to be. Trust me, trying to heard cats to take family photos is difficult. No-one knows what they are doing, so you need a good photographer to tell them what to do. This mans work ethic is insane. He stayed at our wedding for more than 12hours and worked alone! EVERYONE at my wedding was commenting on what a hard worker he is. We received our photos super quick, and they are EXQUISITE! I honestly am having a hard time choosing my favorites to put in the album he is printing for us. To top off the fact that he is an incredible artist, he is such a cool, down to Earth guy. He fit in with our friends and family. I will be using him solely moving forward in all of my photography needs. In my eyes, there is no-one better.
Stop wasting your time and HIRE this man. You will not be disappointed. He made my day so special, and I will forever have beautiful works of art to look back at forever. -

David is the best!!
I cannot say enough amazing things about David!! Not only did he get the most amazing shots, it’s like he never missed a shot from the entire day. Literally showed up early, stayed late and got EVERY shot. On top of all that everyone loved him, he is the kind of guy you just want to be friends with. If you want amazing photos, never to miss a moment and someone you can trust, USE DAVID!! -

The Cornerstone of Our Elopement
Due to an illness in the family, my now husband and I dropped the traditional wedding in our home state (GA) for an intimate elopement and more "us" wedding in Yellowstone National Park. As we were exploring our options, we came across David's blog and absolutely fell in love with his natural, captivating photography style. Little did we know, we were booking an award-winning photographer. During my first conversation with David I knew we were all going to be buddies and I knew that he was most definitely up for the adventure we had in mind. We wanted a wedding that was different from all other Yellowstone weddings, so we decided (with David's help) to venture deep into Lamar Valley. This wedding wouldn't have happened without David. He helped me plan a wedding in three months, communicated with the NPS, provided the names of trusted vendors, picked up my flowers, and met us at our air BNB early to take bridal shots, family pictures, and to organize a first look. David was the reason I stayed sane. He was quick, punctual, to-the-point, and went to extreme lengths to make sure that we felt comfortable in our own skin. I remembered him pulling up to our cabin and me shouting with joy, "David's here!!" because I knew it was smooth sailing from there. He ensured that we had the most amazing day possible. Today, my husband and I drool over our wedding pictures and still laugh about how our photographer laid in the snow and jumped over several bushes to capture the most precious moments. Booking David was THE BEST wedding decision we made, and it'll be yours too! -

Amazing photographer for an amazing elopement
My husband Dwight and I had our wedding plans change countless times due to covid, and we eventually decided to elope. After a quick google search for photographers in our area, we found David—we loved his style and outlook, as well as his totally reasonable price for an elopement. We could not have made a better choice. Not only is he a true artist, but he’s incredibly organized and professional. He even worked with us when we had to change our wedding date only three days in advance (damn pandemic!).
The day of the ceremony was perfect, and David captured it in all of its wonderful messiness and improvisation. Our light was obstructed by the mountains behind us, but he somehow still took better photos than we could have hoped for. He was also a joy to work with—he had us laughing through the portraits, somehow making two very camera-shy people feel right at home. David captured the day perfectly, not only for Dwight and me, but for all of our loved ones who couldn’t be there. -

David is wonderful. Not only are his photos phenomenal, but his energy made our wedding day perfect. We laughed, had fun, and could not have felt more comfortable throughout the entire experience. David mentions that he helps people who hate being photographed love their photography. This could not be more true. We didn't want forced photos that were staged and awkward to take; we wanted candid glimpses into the best day of our life and that's exactly what we got. David was the best wedding photographer we could have asked for! He spent the entire day with us and photographed every moment from setting up decoration in the morning to dancing into the night. He gave us almost 900 high quality photos from our day and each one held such meaning and emotion. My wife and I will treasure these photos forever, and our family will too.

The absolute best!!!
You should 110% hire David to be your photographer!! You will be soo happy that you did! I discovered David when one of his photos that had been posted on RMB's Instagram caught my eye. His style is so unique and full of so much raw emotion and artistry that it instantly got my attention. Although he was immediately my favorite yet, I wanted to make sure I had done my due diligence in researching photographer options and so I ended up looking into a few more before ultimately hiring David. I can't express how happy I am that we settled on David!
He was by far the easiest vendor to work with out of all of them we used for our wedding. He's so organized and has his process down pat. He made everything sooo easy and streamlined for us - which is not always the case. His attitude was awesome; David was ready for everything - including a snowstorm for the better portion of our evening. He was out in his raincoat scoping out potential shots and capturing incredible candid moments as he did. Everyone at the wedding commented on how pleasant he was.
David moves about so discreetly that you never even notice him right behind you, capturing the perfect shot and he is so efficient in his shooting that none of it seems extensive. It didn't feel like those times before prom where you are standing there smiling until your cheeks feel like they're going to fall off. He's incredibly friendly, very easy to talk to, makes you feel natural in front of the camera, and is up for any adventure to get the shot!
We decided to do a "day after" session so that we could get some nice portraits without having to be pulled away from our wedding for too long. That was so much fun! David went out to find some locations prior to the session (which set us up for the perfect portraits). We hiked around in the mountains and got some beautiful photos all while having a great time.
Our wedding photos turned out absolutely incredible - every single one of them. And there are A LOT! David's shooting style captures every piece of your big day, in so much detail and emotion that the instant you look at the photos you are sucked right back into the day - all the laughter, tears, and love. On top of all of that, his prices were so reasonable, especially considering the phenomenal product you receive at the end of it all. Seriously - stop looking and just drop David a line. You won't be mad about it. -

Its so hard to put into words how wonderful David is! We are so happy we chose David as our photographer! He was so easy to work with and really put us at ease. David was professional in every way and put great effort into taking care of all the tiny details. Our photos were more than we could have asked for. He captured moments that truly showed the essence of our guests and our wedding. All of our guests were thrilled with the moments he caught of them at the wedding and we ended up with some wonderful moments from our sunset photos. He started our day with us and stayed through the end of our wedding. You can tell how much he loves what he does and never wants to miss a moment of the action. Truly the best photographer there is! -

Hiring David was the best decision we made for our wedding, and honestly, we're trying to come up with a reason to hire him again! To my husband and me, his photographs (wedding or otherwise) are breathtaking, and the photographs he took of our ceremony exceeded our very high expectations. He captured the day exactly how I wanted to remember it.
On top of producing an amazing product, David is professional and just so nice to work with. Prior to the wedding, we asked him for input on several aspects of our small ceremony (location within Glacier National Park, time of day, etc.) and his responses were always thoughtful and timely.
If you like the style of David's stuff, don't think twice and hire him. You won't regret it. -

One word to sum up our experience with David Clumpner?! Phenomenal!!! From the moment we talked on the phone over a year ahead of our wedding to our wedding day, it was an incredible experience. Meeting him in person and having him there for our day was stress free and our guests loved him. As my husband said the morning after our wedding, 'Our wedding was perfect, but, David was for sure in my top 3 reasons I loved the day.' Our photos were incredible too! :) We're forever thankful for David and his passion to capture the day in moments. -

If you like David's style of documentary wedding photography, you have found your photographer-message or call him now! If he has your wedding date available, book him now! If he isn't available, seriously consider moving your wedding to day he is available. My husband Nick and I were so incredibly blessed and grateful that David documented our wedding, but even more importantly, we are hopeful he will be a dear lifelong friend of ours. David keeps a high bar for himself and it shows in how we were treated and cared for by David on our wedding day. David's photos are in a league that other photographers aim to reach. Here is one thing to remember after the memories of your wedding day; your wedding photos are the one piece you can keep with you the rest of your life! When we first sat down and met David, we were immediately struck with his genuine curiosity about us as people, and his ability to make us feel comfortable. By the time the Wedding Day was over, we felt like he was a part of the family. The morning started early and there was so much to take in, we couldn't have imagined being able to relive each moment, until we received the photos. The way David captured every moment, person, and reaction made it seem like there were three photographers, even going so far as to stand in the lake for the right perspective. The photos speak for themselves but our experience with David enhanced the day in a way that we could not have imagined. -

Not only are David Clumpner's pictures incredible, but he was a genuinely wonderful person to have at our wedding. We only had six guests (our parents), so David was very much a part of it and literally everyone in attendance commented on how much they enjoyed his presence. You could not ask for a more personable and kind person. He perfectly straddled the line of staying in the background, but was so great when interacting with us.
I have a degree in photography so my wedding photographs matter to me a lot and David did not disappoint. He was very open to documenting my husband, his dad, and my stepfather fly fishing before the ceremony, which made for some special photographs. We couldn't be more pleased with the photos capturing the day. It rained/iced on us after the ceremony and, without hesitation, David pushed on and we got the shots that we wanted with the stormy sky.
I have nothing but exceptional things to say about working with David and would recommend him to anyone looking for a true professional. We are so lucky to have found him. -

I've been meaning to write this review for so long because I've got nothing but love and appreciation for David and the beautiful photos he took of our elopement ceremony. We were iffy about hiring a photographer, but when we saw David's thoughtful and evocative documentary style, we decided it would be well worth it. And he was! When we met him we hit it off instantly and had such fun shooting with him. We were a little bummed about the wildfire smoke obscuring the incredible views over Bowman Lake, but David worked delivered the dreamiest photos. My husband and I are already planning to hire David for our divorce photo shoot. So, stay tuned for that.

I could tell you that David won awards with photos from our wedding, or that a beautiful photo he took of my husband and my mother law landed on the Huffington Post as one of "35 of the Very Best Wedding Photos We Saw in 2018" . I could tell you about the gushing things people say or that my sister told me she wished her wedding photos were as nice as mine. I could tell you that David is really fun to work with or that I really wanted to set him up with one of my bridesmaids. Those things aren't really all that important. What is, is that my grandmother and my husband's beloved aunt, who both couldn't come to our wedding because of health reasons, told us that David's photos made them feel like they were there. That, is priceless. -

I knew David and I were in for a good day when he showed up to my house with a baked goodie! He was the most energetic, attuned, optimistic and hard working photographer I have ever worked with. I appreciated the time he took to get to know my husband and I, as that made the experience intimate and special. I enjoyed the thoughtful gifts before the wedding and the presentation of his edited work that came after the wedding. He went above and beyond and I am so glad to have worked with him. Amazing Photographer, Amazing Person
We got married in Whitefish, MT in July 2018 and are so glad we chose David as our photographer. To start, he's simply a wonderful, joyful, friendly person who is great to have around during the wedding bustle. He'll be subtly looking out for you and your wedding experience without interfering at all (with tips like, "make sure to put on chapstick before your ceremony so you don't have a bunch of photos of yourself licking your lips!!", for example). He also sends out these incredibly useful surveys ahead of the wedding to help get organized and know what to plan for, what people and moments are important to you, etc.
David did a great job cruising through the tons of family portraits and other staged scenarios (he has a great eye for detail and makes sure your family members put their hand in or out of their pocket and move forward and backward by inches so the photos don't look weird)-- but where he really excels is in his magical ability to capture authentic, genuine emotion and real moments in your life. We joked all weekend that David actually had a clone or even was a triplet, given his amazing ability to be everywhere at once, capturing things you didn't even know were happening.
David was one of the very best choices we made around our wedding, and we absolutely recommend him for people who want real, authentic wedding moments captured. His style matches ours perfectly - we didn't want a bunch of staged (although beautiful) photos of us doing things we'd never normally do. We wanted the photos of ourselves laughing (or crying :) or being surprised or jumping into a lake -- the photos that match our memories of how things really were.
He captured us exactly as we are! Now, the only trouble is finding enough wall space for all the amazing prints of the photos we'll cherish forever.
Note: we enlisted David's talents for two days -- the day of our wedding ceremony, and the day after, when we had a big barbecue and field day of lawn games. On the day after our wedding, David showed up ready to bushwack and hike to a nearby lake, where a surprising number of our friends showed up to go swimming. We already knew we had chosen the perfect photographer the day before, when David had been hustling and running around EVERYWHERE during the whole wedding night (not to mention his early start with us that morning) -- but in the middle of the swim in the lake, David climbed up the mountain so he could take aerial photos of us splashing around. Not your average photographer, not by a long shot :) He is amazing.

Since he is based out of Montana, I figured it was a long shot to have him come photograph my wedding in Bellingham, Washington. I am so glad I reached out to him, because not only did he travel to Bellingham with no extra cost to us, he exceeded my very high expectations after having been given the unofficial designation of dream wedding photographer! Minutes upon first meeting David, it felt like we were in the company of a good friend. He is incredibly personable and easy to be around, while also maintaining that professionalism to make sure your wedding photography experience is the best it can possibly be. He was very responsive for the entire year preceding our wedding, and knew all the right questions to ask to establish a clear idea of what we were looking for in a wedding photographer. The day of the wedding, David wowed us with his unobtrusive photography style and on-point instincts for capturing the most important shots. My now husband and I are both pretty awkward in front of the camera, and it was such a relief to discover that having David in the room didn't feel intimidating at all. It honestly felt like he was just another friend/wedding guest that we were happy to have there. David got us our finished photos less than a month after the wedding, and I couldn't be happier with the results. He captured the essence of our wedding in ways that I as a bride didn't fully get to experience amidst the hecticness of the day. It brings back so many happy memories every time I look at the photos. I am amazed by the quantity of truly epic photos that David produced, and haven't been able to decide yet which are the most deserving of being framed because there are just so many! I cannot recommend David highly enough- he was amazing to work with in every way. I will cherish his beautiful photos of our wedding day for the rest of my life. -

We did not have a videographer so it was important to us that our photographer captured the day as it was. All the moments big and small. After extensive research we knew david was the man for the job. He was super professional. Arrived early to set up and he worked so efficiently and quickly. We later joked that he was like a magician. Now you see him.. now you don't. And it showed on the beautiful thumb drive we received in the mail about a month later. Over 1300 photos. Every one of them captured something amazing. The emotions, the joy, the details. He was a true photojournalist documenting the day. I couldn't be happier with his work! -

He was creative, inventive and an all around wonderful guy!! He captured everything I wanted at my wedding in a way I couldn't have even imagined. He went above and beyond the call of duty and made me feel like a queen! He photographed ALL day long to make sure he got all those special moments I wanted. I would highly recommend him to anyone. Great prices for all you get from the packages as well as the length of time he puts into your day!!! So worth every dollar spent ??
