    David photographed my Friday night welcome reception at the Hampshire House as well as my wedding reception at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. He was early, and had a ton of suggestions for where to take all of our pictures. He was extremely thorough and quick in getting through hundreds of family portraits, room shots, and getting ready pictures. He even posted a quick sampling of our photos less than 48 hours later, and they were absolutely beautiful. The lighting in the shots and the angles that he captured were beyond our expectations. He also worked with us on the package to make sure that we got everything we wanted at the price we were comfortable with. I highly recommend his services.

    Even though he works in the town where I live, I didn't find David Barnes: my father did! I enlisted my pro-quality photographer dad to help me find a good photographer at a reasonable price for my wedding. He did the legwork online, and David was at the top of the short list he sent me. When my then-fiancé and I met David, his laid-back but highly professional demeanor was very encouraging. So was his beautiful work. David was a delight to work with. He didn't try to push us to buy a more expensive package than we wanted. He was excellent at communicating with us. and helped this wedding newbie (I'd never even been a bridesmaid) to figure out what she wanted. The day of the wedding, he and his assistant kept us moving quickly through photos with a minimum of fuss. They found beautiful spots for couple portraits both outdoors and in. During the ceremony and reception, they were unobtrusive, but managed to take a lot of wonderful pictures. The pictures were available for viewing more quickly than I'd expected, and when I was able to go through all of them, I LOVED them! David captured every meaningful moment, and I felt like I was reliving the day without any of the stress or adrenaline that made it something of a blur while it was going on.

    I'd also like to add that my wedding ceremony was pretty blatantly Pagan, and that David didn't so much as bat an eyelash at this when I was describing it, or when it was going on. Considering I've known people whose wedding vendors have canceled when they found out the wedding was going to be Pagan, I think it's good to note this for any other Pagan types looking for a photographer!

    I am SO impressed by David's work. My new husband and I are raving about our pictures to friends and family. He is extremely detail-oriented and the work he does before, during, and after the wedding really shows in the photos! I couldn't be happier with our pictures. We have everything from formal pictures with family to awesome dancing pics to fun poses with the wedding party. We had a blast and I'm so glad we had David to capture it! You can't go wrong, just book him :)

    David was extremely professional and very creative shooting our wedding. He was easy to communicate with before and during the event, and did a fantastic job finding great shots at each location, which was great since we did not have a lot of time between the ceremony and reception. David was up for whatever we wanted to do, including shots on my father's boat which was docked at the local harbor. He had a lot of energy, found a lot of interesting angles and was not afraid to crouch on the ground or lean awkwardly sideways to achieve the shot he was looking for. I am very happy with the pictures; David very clearly knows his trade well and has a lot of experience. He was also very pleasant to be around, and did not once seem impatient or try to rush things along. He was able to work within our budget, and gave us exactly what we paid for and had agreed upon ahead of time. We got tons of pictures, they look great, and I definitely recommend him.

    David exceeded all my expectations and I'm a real tough critic! I never had to worry about anything photography-related because I knew I could trust David had it all covered. I would highly recommend him to anyone getting married, especially in the city of Boston. He is an expert in knowing where to take the best pictures and offers excellent suggestions - always being considerate that its ultimately my decision.

    I don't think I have words to express how impressed I am with David's photography. For 9-hours straight, David and his assistant captured over 3000 (great) pictures. I don't think I saw either of them ever take a break! While I was uploading the proofs (which were sent to me super fast) I could see the pictures in sequential order, flipping like a comic strip - our photos coming to life! It looked like we were moving photo after photo, because literally, every moment was captured on camera. David is very professional and very easy to work with. I didn't have many requests, so David had to really get creative and essentially guess what he thought I'd like. I do understand that is not an easy task requested by a bride! David is so dedicated and talented. I would highly recommend. I had such a great experience and I love that he's such a perfectionist!!!

    I cannot say enough wonderful things about David. He shot our wedding in October 2011, and continues to provide excellent, courteous, and thoughtful service. We are finally finishing up the process of picking our album (our delay, not his...but seriously, how do you narrow down close to 1800 pictures to just 75?! it took a long time) and he continues to reach out to us, check to be sure we are pleased, and is willing to work with us in shipping, etc.

    We were married on a Saturday. By Monday afternoon, there were sneak peaks up on Facebook. We had full discs chock full of wedding photo goodness within two weeks. Talk. About. Service.

    David was easy to communicate with before the wedding, and he and his second shooter (Chris) arrived early on the day of. David made sure that the list of photos we wanted were fulfilled, even when I was getting a little cold and cranky, he made sure to grab the necessary people and snap that group photo that now I am oh-so-grateful to have.

    Thank you, David, for capturing our wedding. These really will be photos and memories that we have forever, and you did a wonderful job capturing them for us.

    We cannot recommend David enough!
    First, we chose to have an engagement shoot at the Boston Public Garden. David is friendly, professional, easy to work with and very accommodating. He is also FAST! We covered the entire Garden in our hour together. He's not one to make you stand there posing while he sets up. He sees his shot, you pose and you move on. We liked that so much!
    We had David and Mary Ellen on our wedding day. They both helped keep the fun mood of every stage of our wedding and worked so hard to get the shots on a day with tricky weather.
    I've been in enough weddings to know what the group shot experience is like, standing around, never knowing when they will want you to be in a picture. Not the case here. David and Mary Ellen were so organized (we had already discussed the shots we wanted a week before) that everyone knew where to go, where to be and when they could relax between shots.
    Our pictures are incredibly beautiful and gave us many options, angles and combinations. We received all of the photos on DVD's a few days after returning from our honeymoon.
    Pricewise, he offers several packages and from the pictures we have it is worth the price. He was the only photographer we researched who provided 2 shooters the day of the wedding for a reasonable price. It was so helpful to have 2 perspectives that day and also to capture all of my groom's preparation. We also and have full rights to all of the photos.
    We have not yet created our albums yet, but we know we will enjoy working with David again.

    My husband and I were so happy we chose David Barnes as our photographer (and we also chose to do videography with him as well). Before deciding who are photographer was going to be, I searched online for months looking at different vendor portfolios but I kept going back to David Barnes. There was something about his photos that I absolutely loved and wanted for my own wedding. When we met with David, the professionalism he brought with him was outstanding which made us feel extremely comfortable in our choice. He was very thorough in explaining the process, and trying to understand what we wanted out of him. He was very detailed with his questionnaire which makes sure he is doing everything the way the couple wants. He follows up, and makes the last week or so very un-stressful before the big day. During the wedding, he always had a plan but was ok if we added on a few more shots that we originally forgot. He was very flexible in that regard, but he also knows when we are wasting time and tries to move the process along to correspond with the night's timeline. We were also very pleased that we were able to get a snapshot of photos almost immediately, and then we received our digital files before we got home from our honeymoon! We were very pleased with everything that David did for us, and we absolutely LOVE our photos!!!! We could not be happier!

    In regards to David Barnes Photography, we ditto everything that the first reviewer said in her write-up. It was such a treat to see all of our pictures so quickly after the wedding and relive every special moment over and over again. With that said, I'd also like to continue to sing David Barnes' praises in my own song...

    To begin, my husband and I planned our wedding from nearly 500 miles away (we live in DC while our wedding was in Boston). In order to accomodate both the distance and our needs, David was tremendously flexible and responsive. He scheduled conference calls, emailed numerous times back and forth, and met with my parents (in Boston) as needed. He worked with us on creating a list of formal pictures and those moments/events that we really wanted captured. David made certain that all of our requirements were fulfilled and that our expectations were very well managed. I can easily say that during the months leading up to our wedding, David worked with us with kindness, politeness, and true professionalism.

    On our wedding day, David and his assistant were more than prepared! First, they arrived at the hotel earlier than we had requested so that they could scout out the best areas for pictures. Then, when our set time rolled around, the photographers separated so that they could capture both of us getting ready with members of our bridal party. They even switched places at times to make certain each one captured a different point of view. Meanwhile, the girls were running very late in their preparations; but David and his assistant remained completely cool and flexible. They simply rearranged times when we would take our group shots without impeding on the rest of our schedule. David even made sure that my husband and I had time for a few outdoor shots, just as we had requested!

    Upon our return from the honeymoon, we looked at all the pictures from our wedding. Numerous times we questioned, "How did David get that shot, we didn't even see him there?!" Somehow, David and his assistant captured each and every moment of our Big Day in the most unobtrusive manner. There must be some trick to how they were able to get it done, but their secret remains unknown to us. David and his assistant had no problem when our guests requested personal pictures. They snapped any and all pictures upon request, providing our guests with memories that will last a lifetime.

    We most strongly recommend David Barnes Photography (DBP) to all potential clients. My husband, me, and our families found that with DBP you get tremendous "bang for your buck." With a combination of formal and photojournalistic pictures you will certainly be pleased with the way in which this photography group captures your special day. I know that we couldn't have been happier!

    David and his assistant Brendan were great to work with. The planning process was easy and David offers great packages for pictures and albums. Our wedding day went smoothly and everyone was organized which was no small feat with a bridal party of 17, myself and my husband and our families. David was efficient and took so many great photos. We have received so many compliments on our pictures and how the day was captured perfectly in photos. Our pictures were posted online very soon after our wedding and we received DVDs with our images shortly after. My husband and I are now looking forward to meeting with David again to select photos for our albums. It has been incredibly fun to look through the many many images David and Brendan captured throughout our big day. We would highly recommend David Barnes Photography to any couple getting married.

    My husband and I are so glad we chose David Barnes as our wedding photographer! Our photographers were absolutely beautiful, but what really amazed us were his professionalism and the speed with which he was able to have our pictures to us. We got married on the evening of July 3, and by the time many of our guests gathered again for the Fourth of July fireworks the next evening he had sent us a slideshow of 60 of our best images that we could show our family and friends! That was amazing! Then we had all of our gorgeous high res images on cds by the time we got back from our honeymoon (which admittedly was almost a month--but still, that was a really fast turn around time for those photographs!) We would highly recommend David to anyone!

    David Barnes photography was amazing! WE loved our engagement and wedding photos. Even our guests were amazed with how well the photographer and his assistant worked together. In the end, we received over 5,000 beautiful pictures of our special day. The only down side was the price of the package (a bit expensive) but all in all, we feel the end product was well worth it. I would recommend David Barnes to everyone! Now the hard part of picking photos for our albums. :)
