Liz, Taylor, Trin, Jade, Jose -- I truly cannot express in words how wonderful the entire team at Darling & Dapper is... but I'm sure going to try! From start to finish, Liz and her team of beauty gurus were all incredibly kind, consultative, and patient for our wedding preparations. The day of my hair and makeup trials was also the day I was taking my bridal portraits; this context is important because while I was in Taylor's chair getting started on hair, I got a text from one of my bridesmaids saying that she was sick and could not be there with me for the bridal portraits as originally planned... at which point I started panic-texting everybody else I could think of that could have potentially come to help me get changed, haul my belongings around the venue, etc. But as an hour passed and I hadn't found anybody who was available (and my blood pressure started to skyrocket), Taylor assured me that if I couldn't get anybody, at the very least she and Trin and the other folks working in the studio that day would get me changed and ready before I got in the car. I mean, how kind is that?! Trin then started on my makeup and was incredibly sweet and patient with me as I neurotically checked my phone between applications LOL! Everybody was hyping me up and keeping energy high, and by the time we were done, miraculously another one of my bridesmaids was able to flex and come meet me at the venue AND I felt absolutely gorgeous!! Fast forward to my wedding day - Taylor, Trin, and Jade were already at the venue when I pulled up, ready to rock! Everybody was thrilled with their hair and makeup looks, and Trin was more than happy to help me incorporate a different shade and formula of lipstick that I had found after the trials. With 8 ladies and a few gents on the schedule, they kept everything moving smoothly and I never felt stressed or rushed for a single second (at least, not by them, hah!). One of my bridesmaids had originally decided on makeup only/against having her hair done because of a horrendous prior experience she had with other "beauty" vendors in a different wedding party years ago - as in, this was legitimately traumatizing for her. But as she saw and heard how lovely this team was, she quietly asked me if I thought they could add her in as well - oh my heart!!! I asked Taylor, and she said that we seemed to be on-track and it shouldn't be a problem, and very soon after my bridesmaid was in the chair getting hyped up and treated with absolute care and attention and, yes, I would call it love. The "manscaping" that Taylor provided for my husband and bonus kid especially was perfect, and she put them at ease with her humor and expertise. I would be remiss if I did not also give a huge shout out to Jose, who fixed up my horrible self-dyed and self-trimmed hair a few weeks before my trials, and provided a fabulous hair cut for my husband shortly before the wedding as well! I am soooooo so appreciative to all of these fine folks, and we're both excited to start visiting Liz and her team in her gorgeous studio for regular hair services, all the way from Portsmouth. Thank you all so very much for everything!!! -

As the bride, I wanted to capture the fleeting, unforgettable moments of our big day (while looking my absolute best) as I’ve been told it goes by in the blink of an eye! I was fortunate enough to receive a recommendation for an incredibly talented hair and makeup studio from a family member who used Darling and Dapper for her wedding in October of 2024. After reading the different artist descriptions on the Darling and Dapper website, I knew Taylor Shira and Carolina Updegraff were going to be a perfect fit for what I was looking for on the day of the wedding! Taylor and Carolina exceeded my every expectation! What struck me most about Taylor was her ability to help create a calm, inviting atmosphere on the day of the wedding. She is such a sweet, energetic person with such a positive personality to boot. What struck me most about Carolina was her ability to recreate the exact makeup look from any inspiration picture you show her. She is such a sweet, warm person and she and Taylor are the exact kind of people you want to spend time with on what is typically a very overwhelming day! Their attention to detail and artistic eyes brought out the true beauty in myself and all my bridesmaids. I truly have never felt as beautiful as I did on my wedding day thanks to Taylor and Carolina.
I mostly interacted with Liz, the owner of Darling and Dapper before the wedding day and her level of communication is impeccable as she was always willing to explain the process and truly listen to what you were hoping to achieve with your look, so we knew we were in good hands the day of the wedding.
Taylor and Carolina are not only a master with any hair or makeup style you throw at them, but they are also true professionals. We chose to get ready in the bridal suite of our hotel and they both arrived on time, maintained a friendly and approachable demeanor, and made us feel truly at ease throughout the whole day! Their level of communication is impeccable as they were always willing to take feedback (without taking it to heart) and truly listen to what you were hoping to achieve with your look, so we knew we were in good hands the day of the wedding. With our wedding being an outdoor wedding, on July 12th, in Virginia, I was slightly nervous that my makeup was going to be ruined before we even made it to cocktail hour, but Carolina worked tirelessly to support my dream of having my desired look (and boy did she succeed)! Taylor worked tirelessly (up until I left the building to walk down the aisle) to support my dream of having cascading curls down my back and cascade (and last) they did! My six bridesmaids all chose different hair and makeup inspirations and were all extremely pleased with their work.
Working with Taylor and Carolina has been an absolute pleasure from my bridal hair trial session to the end of the wedding day. Their exceptional talent, professionalism, and dedication to their craft makes them a stand out choice in the world of bridal hair and makeup! I wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone seeking extraordinary hair and makeup and an unforgettable wedding day! - Mrs. Canavos -

Where do I start!? I know Liz and her team for years, so it was obvious that I would choose her to do hair and makeup for me and my girls. She is truly a master of her craft and will always recommend her to my friends and family. She made my matron of honor and bridesmaids look fabulous, and my mother look AMAZING! We were fortunate enough to work with Monica as our MUA and Kate as our hair stylist and omg they could not have been better to work with!!!! Monica has natural glam down to a science and left us all feeling like elegant, elevated versions of ourselves. It was perfect! Her attention to detail and passion is unmatched!
Kate is truly the master of hair and did a phenomenal job giving each girl their own unique hair style, but also still creating a cohesive look amongst the wedding party.
Also - hair and makeup lasted the whole night!! Truly great! -

And I truly mean what I say from the title. Let me start off with saying Trin is such a beautiful person inside and out and has made me feel beautiful from the moment I met them. And with their help they made my wedding vision come to life. Trin and Anna both made my hair beautiful before the wedding with my two visits to the salon (it’s gorgeous btw, highly recommend visiting, excellent staff, great atmosphere and exceptional service) and Trin made magic on my wedding day. We all felt beautiful and I’m truly thankful. Liz is also phenomenal to work with, answered every question I had and helped me through the whole process. Darling & Dapper will now be my home salon and I recommend them to everyone. -

We had Darling & Dapper do hair for myself (bride) and six attendants at our May wedding. I worked with Taylor, and she was amazing from the beginning. The trial was awesome--Taylor worked on the style until it was absolute perfection. Furthermore, she gave me her cell phone number so I could contact her directly with updates, which I did do once or twice. Taylor is super upbeat, fun, and really great to work with: the exact personality that's perfect to have for the bridal party during getting ready time. On the day of the wedding, Taylor and her co-worker were right on time and got everything set up promptly. They were super quick and efficient and everyone looked absolutely stunning. One of my bridesmaids commented on how much more she liked her hair for my wedding than her own wedding!! Taylor and her co-worker were also really great about putting in flowers in everyone's hair which was a last minute change. I had never been in a wedding where the bride paid for everyone with a single contract, but now that I have been I prefer it that way. I could take care of the bill easy peasy online, and then everyone just Venmoed me afterwards, and everyone tipped on their own. It made it way easier and I felt a lot of peace of mind knowing everyone was paid in full. Overall I would absolutely recommend Darling and Dapper--they were fantastic to work with and Taylor especially is amazing! -

Amazing experience! Taylor and Sarah were so well organized. All hair and makeup came out stunning, they both took time to touch up everyone’s hair and makeup and made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident. I would 10000% recommend them for your wedding. I felt they listened to everything we asked for, didn’t rush at all and were amazing company to have while getting ready. I found a lot of promising-looking hair & makeup stylists for our wedding, but Darling & Dapper really stood out from the rest. The diversity of styles and people among the stylists there really made me feel more at ease reaching out to them and choosing to go with them for our hair & makeup. Since I wanted my bridal party to feel happy and comfortable with how they looked during the wedding, it was important to me that everyone be able to have unique hair & makeup looks that complimented their personalities & worked with their natural skin & hair textures. Trin did a fantastic job with everyone's makeup looks and preferences, and our wedding guests could not stop gushing over the amazing job Taylor did with our hair! Taylor did my mom and I's hair and makeup for my wedding day. We love her! She made us feel really comfortable and did a phenomenal job at helping us get the looks we wanted (we really didn't know) but her questions got us there and she made sure it was always our idea with no pressure to do anything we didn't feel comfortable with and if we wanted to make any changes she was happy to do so. I would 1000% recommend her to anyone! We loved the vibe and style of the salon as well, it feels like a fun and cool spot that you want to hang out at. I'll be back for other hair needs in the future for sure! -

I booked Darling and Dapper for on-site hair and makeup for my wedding via a recommendation from my coordinator, and could not have felt more beautiful on the wedding day! Liz, the owner, was very responsive and so easy to communicate with during the planning process. Trin styled my hair and makeup and did hair for my bridal party, and Anna did makeup for my bridal party. Both were extremely professional and great energy to be around, as we enjoyed a relaxed and fun morning in the bridal suite. I booked Darling and Dapper for on-site hair and makeup for my bridal party and myself via a recommendation from my coordinator, and I was so incredibly pleased with their services. Liz, the owner, was great to work with while I was planning and made things really easy on me as an out of state bride. When the day arrived, my bridesmaids and I had a blast in the bridal suite with Trin styling our hair and Monica doing our makeup. Both artists were professional, but also great to have around. They listened to what each of my bridesmaids wanted and gave each unique, stunning looks. My hair and makeup were flawless, exactly what I asked for, and photographed beautifully. I really can’t say enough about how great Darling and Dapper and their stylists are! -

Where do I even begin?! Trin made me feel gorgeous on my wedding day! Hair was one of the last things I booked for my wedding and I was getting down to the wire on time and availability. I reached out to Darling and Dapper and Liz responded to inquiry by the next morning! Within a week, I was able to get in for a trial with Trin.
I have a protective style so it was hard for me to find a traditional wedding hair stylist with the style that I have, or to find insp pics online. I gave Trin maybe 1 or 2 vague ideas. We were going to try 2 and when they were done with the first look, we knew that was it!
I had a videographer coming to my rehearsal dinner and wanted something professionally done for that as well. I ended up reaching out to Liz and Trin to see if they could get me in for not only hair but make up also! I felt like a true goddess when I left the studio!
On the day of the wedding Trin and an assistant came and did hair for myself and my entire bridal party. Every time one of girls came to show us their hair, they had the BIGGEST smiles on their faces. Most of them also had protective styles so were hesitant. But Trin and their assistant did not disappoint.
Trin is the sweetest, most down to earth person I've had to pleasure of meeting. I felt like I was talking to a friend from trial, to rehearsal to wedding day. I truly am so thankful for them and will SOOOOO be booking them in the future! -

Darling and Dapper was a delight to work with during our big day! Liz is one of the most responsive, helpful, and organized vendors in the biz. She helped me every step of the way and answered every tiny question I had with diligence and professionalism. Taylor did my hair and some of my bridesmaids the day of. It held ALL DAY (and I have trouble with my hair holding). I went for a whimsical curly braid and loved it. You're in good hands with this team! (Note- Taylor also did my color a few days before the wedding!) -

Exceptional
We hired Darling & Dapper for our September 2023 wedding and WOW did they crush it! About a month out, I decided I also wanted my hair and makeup done for the rehearsal. Two days before our wedding, we found out that a tropical storm would be closing our venue on our big day. I asked Liz and Monica if we could use my rehearsal appointments for full bridal hair and makeup to get a first look in at our original venue (The Chrysler Museum of Art) the day before the storm and of course, they said yes with zero hesitation. I felt so lucky to feel so glammed up and beautiful two days in a row. In the chaos and sadness of losing our dream venue 48 hours before our big day, I felt my most calm and at peace when I was in the chair with Liz and Monica. My 8 bridesmaids, mom, mother in law, and grandmother all said the same on wedding day - we love Darling & Dapper! -

Darling and dapper was absolutely incredible to work with for my wedding. Myself, my bridesmaids, and some family members had their hair and make up done and everyone was in love with the results!!! Liz was great to work with in the organization and booking processes and the hair and make up artists were amazing day of!! They came to us, were able to work with our schedule perfectly, were very kind and amazing to spend the morning of my wedding with. Could not recommend them enough!!! -

Their style looked and the reviews told a story of a team of highly professional artists that can keep your wedding timeline on track, which I needed with 13 people!
Why I am glad I did
Aside from how much we all loved our hair and makeup, they worked so fast we could get 13 girls done for 1pm finish time and didn’t have to start until 9am! They run a tight ship without sacrificing ANY quality. They provided touch ups and altered a style for my bridesmaid when she decided she didn’t like her hair in her face. They can do almost anything you want, the makeup quality is top notch (stayed on all night of dancing and drinking) and my haor stayed in place all night. I had them come to our hotel but I think they offer a room on site at their saloon if you want your wedding party to all be together in a private space to have fun while you get ready. I cant recommend enough!

Wedding Hair Dreams
Liz did such an awesome job with not only my hair but with all of my bridesmaids and mom!
I'm not picky but she came up with a beautiful hairstyle for me on my wedding day and did exactly what my bridesmaids asked for.
Classical beautiful hair and she made it look effortless and it stayed all evening!
I go to Darling and Dapper for all of my events and I have never been let down, no matter who is doing my hair, it's perfect every time! -

Liz was super responsive to my emails and answered any questions I had. I was able to get a free trial of my choice of hair or makeup because Darling and Dapper are a preferred vendor with our venue Lesner Inn. Even without the discount, Darling and Dapper was still very affordable compared to others in the area. I recommend having a trial so you’ll get to know your stylists for the day. The original hair stylist that my 2 bridesmaids and I had for the trial wasn’t able to do the wedding and was replaced with Jessica. Jessica was able to replicate all of our hair styles, and if I say so myself, they were even better! We had Sarah for makeup and she really knows how to make you look like you while still being glam. My inspiration was Kate Middleton’s wedding look and many of my guests got that vibe! Sarah and Jessica really made me look like a princess. Everyone kept telling us how great our hair and makeup looked. Our hair and makeup lasted all day with no touch ups (I had an 11am-3pm wedding, but we started just before 7am) and my pictures turned out amazing. Liz and her team are really the best! -

We are so happy we chose Darling and Dapper to style us for our big day! We loved working with Liz to set everything up. She was wonderful in working with us to reschedule our wedding date several times due to COVID, and throughout the entire planning process she was extremely communicative. Whenever we had questions, she was always happy to give us a prompt reply. In addition, we had 2 brides, 6 bridesmaids, and 2 MOBs, so our getting ready timeline was scheduled to start pretty early. When we asked Liz if we could add a 3rd stylist so we could start a little later, she worked hard to accommodate us! Our 3 stylists were Taylor, Dominique, and Trinity, all of whom were delightful to work with! They were all talented and extremely professional as well as speedy! Because of their efficiency, we were able to relax knowing we wouldn't have to rush to get everyone ready on time. They all were great at listening and understanding everyone's individual image and were able to give everyone exactly what they asked for! Every member of the bridal party looked and felt amazing! -

I can't begin to thank Liz, Sadie, and the other lovely ladies at Darling and Dapper for the spectacular job they did on my and my bridal party's hair and makeup for both my engagement and wedding photos! Liz's makeup is IMPECCABLE, stays on for days if you want it to, and she's clearly comfortable with both dewy natural looks, and bigtime full glam; whatever you want; she's got you. I wanted an odd split between a structured 1950's sculptured look, and a more 1930's finger wave, with the ability to stick a veil and comb in, and Liz and her team split the difference beautifully, graciously worked with my last-minute clip-in extensions, and truly made me feel like a princess at their studio, complete with champagne. She accommodated me like I was a major client, even with a very small party, and her price is fantastic considering the high quality results her work produces. Will definitely rebook for any future occasions where I need to be the center of attention, and want to feel fantastic being there ;) -

I used Darling and Dapper for both my Engagement Shoot and my Wedding. I had 14 women in my bridal party who all wanted their hair done, and about 9 who wanted their make-up done as well (including myself). I was originally very nervous about this because I knew it would be a tall order. However, I was BLOWN AWAY by Darling and Dapper's efficiency and pace. They created a very thorough timeline to make sure every person knew where she needed to be and when. They were even ahead of schedule most of the time ensuring all our hair and make-up was done way in advance of the deadline we had. I loved working with all of them and every.single.one of my ladies looked STUNNING. For my Engagement Shoot Sarah came up to D.C. at 5:00am in the morning to make sure I looked perfect for our sunrise photos. These ladies are the best and I am so so so glad I got to work with them! -

Cheryl and Sarah did an amazing job on hair and make-up for my entire bridal party!! They were both extremely kind and patient. I had been in contact with Liz for about 2 years through Covid and FOUR wedding dates. She was SO helpful and SO accommodating. She responded to every one of my changes and emails super fast all while being super friendly. Cheryl and I Jessica did hair for me and my girls. They were so sweet and friendly and every one of them looked perfect! I couldn’t be happier with my bridal hair- Cheryl was able to put my visions and inspiration into life! Sarah did makeup for me and my girls and I absolutely LOVED my wedding day glam! She was the sweetest and was able to accommodate everyone’s desires from pink smokey eyes, glitter and glam, to natural for grandma! I couldn’t recommend them more. Plus, their studio where I went for my trail is the CUTEST! -

I originally hired a make-up artist that did but come recommended by my wedding planner; but after the trial I was disappointed. So I got a few names and darling and dapper was highly recommended. I checked them out on the website and they seems pretty cool so I hired the company. More specifically I hired Liz. I really didn’t want to spend the extra money with a trial and so I just emailed Liz who said she could do it day of no problem. She seemed very confident and sure of herself, and since she was highly recommended, I had no worries! Liz freaking rocked my hair and make-up for my wedding day. My friends told me I looked like an angel. But it didn’t end there. Liz presence was very down to earth and calming. She asked me “real person questions” and had authentic conversation. Liz is an amazing artist and I would trust anyone she hires. Thank you Liz for making me feel beautiful!!!!!! ❤️💗 -

Liz and Sarah were simply amazing. When we did our trial session Liz made sure I was totally comfortable with what she was doing. She listened to me and baby stepped it to ensure the makeup was what I wanted. Liz did my hair perfectly. She did a great job listening to my requests and adjusting the schedule as needed. On the day of she showed up early and started right away. Liz and Sarah both made sure everyone was happy with their hair and makeup. They adjusted hair and makeup as needed. Thank you so much for making my day amazing!!!!! -

I was so nervous about finding a stylist. I have never worn makeup; my hair is not very manageable, so I am the only one that does it. And, then I came across Darling and Dapper. What can I say besides Liz is absolutely amazing. Her compassion and patience were greatly needed for I have not had my hair touched by anyone in years. Liz made me feel relax which I did not think was possible, her spirit and passion for what she loves was made even more obvious once I entered her studio. I had to make many changes due to the pandemic, but you worked with me through it all. Thank you for being a part of such a special time. If you want to have a worry-free beauty experience, I highly recommend!! -

Taylor was so great about working with me before the wedding to get my hair the way I wanted it. She was beyond patient with me and made us all look incredible the day of the wedding. My wedding was one of many affected by covid. We had so many date changes and Liz was always flexible, kind, and accommodating. Amber was amazing for my day of hair. She did my hair for my wedding and it was perfect—my curls stayed fresh for hours and through all the end of summer humidity. Amber really took her time with me and all my maids and you could tell she values and listens to clients—not to mention she was also so fun! Would recommend this company in a heartbeat! All of our hair looked amazing and I never felt rushed! -

Darling and Dapper was fantastic to work with for my wedding 6/2020. There were multiple changes to my wedding due to COVID and they were so easy and accommodating throughout the entire process. She always responded to my emails very quickly! I was able to work with the same person for my trial and at the wedding which was great and Sarah came right to my wedding venue! All of the girls looked so great and got so many compliments on their makeup throughout the night. I am extremely happy with the service and highly recommend them! -

Our experience was amazing with Darling and Dapper. We were treated as queens and felt our vision for hair and make-up was well understood. The quality of work and service was seen throughout the entire experience. All the girls looked amazing! Liz made me look at myself as more beautiful than I ever saw myself look before. My expectations were far beyond met and I truly would recommend them for hair and make-up on day of wedding!

AMAZING. Could not have been happier!
I could not have been happier with Darling & Dapper for my special day! There were a few hiccups (to be expected, and one of which was definitely my fault for mis-communicating!) but nothing that took away from the professionalism and quality of the services provided. Katlyn did an AMAZING job for both the trial run and for the wedding day-of services and listening to everything I did (or didn't!) want, and she was even able to do a last minute makeup service for my mother as well. My mother even said she wished she could bring Katlyn home with her to do her hair and makeup EVERY day :) I wish the same! 100% recommend her and Darling & Dapper! -

Choosing Darling and Dapper to do my hair and makeup was one of the best decisions that I made when planning for my big day! Everyone was so helpful from the moment that I contacted them. Amber and Liz went above and beyond to make all of my wedding hair and makeup dreams come true! We had such a great time with them as we were getting ready and my entire bridal party looked amazing all night. It made it so much easier to have both hair and makeup being done at the same time by the same vendor. I cannot thank them enough and highly recommend them to everyone! -

An Awesome Experience
Sol was so awesome and she has such a great spirit. She took care of me, my mother and my maid of honor. Being African American, she handled our skin tones beautifully. My hair held all through the night. When my mother didn't know what exactly to do with her hair, Sol created the perfect style for her. It was so elegant. Sol was patient and understanding with everyone and even after her time was up she did not leave until we were fully satisfied. I would definitely hire her for other occasions and I recommend Darling and Dapper to any bride for make up and hair. -

Taylor Sent on 07/08/2018Jenny and Sol with Darling and Dapper were amazing! Jenny did my hair and makeup as the bride and I felt like a princess. They traveled on site to the wedding so we did not have to travel which made things so easy. They arrived on time and quickly set up and got to work. They were on time with each hair and make up, even ending early to allow for plenty of time for touch-ups. They were a pleasure to work with and my bridal party enjoyed hanging out with them. They were so sweet and helpful in deciding styles. They were very professional but also fit right in with everyone, making it comfortable and enjoyable. They listened to exactly what we wanted, the make up was flawless without being too much and our hair was classy but modern. Everyone was highly pleased and guests later commented on how great everything looked. The looks stayed throughout the night so we all looked great all evening. Highly recommend them for our wedding!

From the first email to the last phone call these ladies were professional, prompt, patient, and so sweet. Their coordinator was so quick to respond any time I had a question, kept me up to date anytime there was a change, and throughout the whole process before the wedding reached out to check if I needed anything. The hair and makeup artists were amazing!!! Sol is THE sweetest, most caring person that made me feel comfortable and confident the entire day. Of course I was so nervous getting ready and she calmed me down, assured me I'd be just fine.... she truly made me feel so much less anxious and I can't thank her enough for that alone. Not only was she a genuine, kind person, she's a true artist and absolutely LOVED my hair and makeup. Thank you to all 3 girls, Anna, and the owner Liz. My hair for the wedding was so beautiful that I didn't even consider anyone else but her to do my hair again for my own wedding in January. I am a little shy and was nervous about having my hair and makeup done for my wedding, but Liz was so personable and downright awesome that I absolutely loved it. Liz and her team's attention to detail, fun spirit, and obvious talent made getting ready for the big day so great. My mother, mother-in-law, and 6 bridesmaids all had hair and makeup done. They each looked STUNNING all day long. We had all textures and lengths of hair and Liz really made sure each of us still looked like us. I felt confident and so happy with my hair and makeup. I even went to her studio the day of the rehearsal because I felt so amazing with the way Liz did my makeup! She's a hair and makeup genius, people. :-)
