Working with Darla was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! She was incredibly affordable without compromising on quality, and from the first meeting, she was so easy to talk to and approachable—it felt like chatting with a friend.
Her eye for capturing beautiful moments is truly impressive. Every photo tells a story, and she knew just how to frame every shot to reflect our personalities and the joy of the day. On top of that, she helped us design the perfect ceremony timeline, which made everything run smoothly and stress-free.

Excellent and Wonderful to work with

Darla and her second photographer, Ashley, were amazing to work with. They were quick with taking outside photos due to how cold the outside was. The photos that we had seen on our wedding day were immaculate.

Darla Photography is top notch quality and a pleasure to work with!

Darla Photography has been our family’s only photographer dating back to 2017, and I wouldn’t consider a move to another photographer! She has taken our family portraits, she has helped us stage special event photos, and she has photographed two Bat Mitzvahs. In short Darla has been there for us by capturing our most important life moments. We will soon be setting up another session for her to photograph out daughter’s senior portraits knowing that they will be outranking. Darla is the ultimate professional who plans well, she has an astounding creative and technical eye, and she works incredibly well with other event vendors to anticipate and time her editorial photographs. Darla is the best!

Darla Photography - Simply The Best!

Darla was amazing, not just with the photographs but also with so many other challenges. The wedding was three hours away and during the Covid pandemic. Darla was so helpful with so many of the details not related to just photography. Darla found the videographer, and us find many other wonderful vendors for the wedding. Darla has a gift for seeing the photographic opportunity and capturing it perfectly. I'm am grateful to have found such a gifted photographer and would recommend her to anyone looking for the best for that once in a lifetime day.

They are the Best!!

I'd give them 10 stars if I could! Darla, Aaron, and Ashley are some of the most personable people I've ever worked with! Darla is fabulous with communication and I feel like I've known her and the staff longer than the few consultations. Aaron and Ashley did our wedding photography and we couldn't be more happy!! I recommend them to all my friends and family because her work is so professional and gorgeous. I have never received so many compliments on photos taken by professionals until we hired them. I like that Darla doesn't pressure you into buying photo albums up front or right after the wedding and can return at any time to get them made up.

I absolutely ADORE Darla and could not have asked for a better photographer! She worked to be flexible with all of our COVID-19 changes and was so much fun to hang out with. Leading up to the wedding, I genuinely enjoyed our conversations. She made sure that we got the photos we wanted for the day. We ended up with hundreds of beautifully edited pictures. I went to the Pittsburgh Bridal Convention in 2018 and the BEST thing to come out of it was our contract with Darla.

She was. Wonderful person to deal wish and she made my wedding pictures everything I wished them to be.

Amazing!

Darla is top notch! She took the most amazing pictures of our family and knew exactly how to capture everyone's personality. She was super flexible, going to 2 different locations, and has the patience of a saint! These family pictures taken right before my daughters Bat Mitzvah and the memories we made during the photo shoot are such a treasure. Darla is absolutely wonderful! We were looking for a photographer for our daughter's bat mitzvah, and to our good fortune were referred to Darla by another photographer who was booked for our date. Right from the beginning, Darla was quick to communicate with any details we requested and to respond to any questions we had. When plans for the timing of our event changed mid-stream a month or so back, Darla put our minds at rest and let us know that she would make everything work. Then a couple of weeks ago, I called Darla about an idea for a project we were thinking of for the bat mitzvah that--if it was even feasible--would have to be done ahead of time. I think she was as excited about it as we were! She found time in her busy schedule for a photo shoot the following weekend and, from her years in the industry, promptly connected with artists in the area who (together with Darla) could convert our vision into a reality. Darla spent a couple of hours with us, discussing and helping us develop the idea and making-up our daughter (another of her specialties), and then took a series of photos of our daughter (and her younger sister) in different get-ups, poses and arrangements. They had so much fun together--Darla coaching our daughter to achieve the pictures we were hoping for, and then taking a bunch more just because! A quick two days later, Darla deposited the set into our Dropbox. They were stunning--beautiful, spontaneous, fun, natural. Even though the shots were taken in our home, not in a studio or outdoors, the lighting, crispness and evenness of the images somehow are outstanding. As my wife and I scanned through the collection, each image seemed to be outdone by the next. We feel very fortunate to have lucked our way into finding Darla. She is an excellent and experienced photographer (and charges reasonable rates), but more than that, she is a lovely and friendly person and a natural with adults and children alike. We highly recommend her.

Darla was great! Spent some time with her beforehand getting acquainted. We did an engagement shot where she helped us get comfortable with the camera and find angles we liked. Also had a few phone calls beforehand to iron out details for photos and go through the day's timeline to ensure all the photos were taken. She is great at making sure everyone in the wedding party followed directions and moved all the formal shots so we did not miss any of the action at the reception.

We absolutely loved our wedding pictures!! We live out of state so we never met Darla before working with her. There were no issues through the entire process. Darla is very easy to work with and can command a crowd of talkative guests which helped us stay on our schedule. Our reception was at a hotel with not a lot of scenic areas but somehow she was able to make the colors pop! We just kept smiling and awing at each photo... They all are fantastic. And the detail shots were unexpected but so glamorous I couldn't stop looking at the flowers and cool decor pics. She really captured the fun we had and we'd recommend her to anyone!

Darla was excellent. She was able to capture everything we needed and a whole lot more. She gave us an excellent deal and would refer her to all of my friends and family. She even was the photographer for my Father's wedding and her pictures and photo albums were so unique and modern. We loved Darla for our wedding nearly 10 years ago, and when I came across a Groupon for her services in August 2012, I snatched it up. I had just been thinking about a family photo shoot for our gang of 5 so it seemed like kismet to find her again!

On our wedding day she worked very well to keep everyone on task and on time. She took my requests in stride and even helped out when the groom needed assistance. She went well beyond the role of a photographer and is definitely experienced in all kinds of wedding situations!

We had her photograph our family and she was able to come to a location we choose (in the rain). She had great suggestions for us and took lots of great pictures of the children and of the family.

We liked that she gave us our files to keep and that she was so reasonable and flexible for our budget and what we wanted. I would hire her again for an event or family shoot. She is personable, funny and professional. Highly recommended!

I loved working with this lady. My wedding was 12-29-12 and she was my photographer. She is a joy to be around and such fun. I am honored to be writing this review for Darla Cisek of Darla Photography because I had the privilege of working with her. She is amazing not only behind the camera, but as a person as well. My daughter did not want to cooperate fully with the session; however, she was very soothing and patient towards her, while being quick to capture her most precious moments in the most perfect ways possible. Her raw talent not only comes from her 30 years of experience, but she has a natural gift in making each and every picture beautiful through her lighting choices and her keen sense! Additionally, she gave me the copyrights to all of my images, so that I can use them in whichever way that I see fit--a true professional gesture! Darla was amazing! My husband and I hired her after she sat down with us and learned exactly what we wanted. On the day of the wedding.... And with all the craziness, I forgot my earrings!!! She kindly took off here beautiful earrings and gave them to me to wear during the wedding reception! She put the whole wedding party at ease, she was professional and her pictures were top notch! Although I'm a few weeks away from seeing my formal wedding pictures, I have no doubt they will be beautiful and capture my wedding day in all its fun and tradition.

Photography was one of my most important elements of my wedding planning. After meeting a few photographers, I was starting to think I would have to make some sacrifices whether that be quality or removing the options I wanted since photography can get expensive.

So, I was intrigued to get a call from Darla directly offering her services to me around the time I wanted to make a formal decision. It turned out a colleague of a good business connection of mine gave her my name, and told her to touch base with me.

And I'm glad this happened because she was quite the breath of fresh air. Whether I talked to her on the phone or even more once I met her in person, I realized that I could have quality pictures at the hand of an experienced photographer, but at a budget point that I could be comfortable with, without eliminating the options I wanted all along.

She is extremely reasonable with her pricing whether you want a real simple package to everything under the sun. And you have the ability to create a custom package which is a big plus. She's so upfront with what she offers that you won't have any surprises, and at the time my contract was signed, we benefited from a nice promotion.

Aside from the pricing, Darla is a really outgoing person and easy to talk to. She's serious about her work and it shows, but she's really fun and has a great sense of humor. Based on her experience, she gave me great tips along the way with my planning and gave me other vendor recommendations that I took advantage of.

Out of all my major vendors, I thoroughly enjoyed working with Darla and so did my now husband. Plus, we had a really nice engagement photo session with her that yielded some great pictures that my family kept talking about for weeks.

I know that my family and friends will be buzz when the wedding pictures come. Darla's the best. and it was so easy to put my trust in her expertise as an photographer and as an amazingly reliable person.

Darla was the best decision my husband and I made for our photographer. She is an outstanding professional, a true artist, and has the experience to back it up. Our photos are amazing. Just from our engagement session, we had so many great shots to choose from it was hard to decide which ones were our favorites. On the day of our wedding, she went well above and beyond her role as our photographer. Darla not only helped my Mom with my corset, she also helped teach my husband and I how to cut our wedding cake. My family kept commenting how wonderful the wedding was, but also how great Darla was. She makes you feel very comfortable and is not intrusive. She was an absolute pleasure.

From the time we met Darla for an initial meeting, when she was rolling around on the floor with her large malamute dog, to the week before the wedding when I asked her if some idea I had was too crazy and she said, "you're talking to the wrong lunatic," to the day of the wedding when she cried during the speeches, it was confirmed over and over again that we made the right choice in photographer. To all the brides out there...Darla is an absolute dream come true! First, her pictures definately reflect all of the experience she has. She able to capture a variety of moments from the glamour and classic shots to wilder fun shots and best of all she caught so many priceless candid moments. Second, Darla has the greatest personality. Not only did she take phenomenal photographs but she was a great addition to the wedding! Everybody had a blast with her and I still have guests who were at the wedding make remarks about how impressed they were with Darla. She was able to be a lot of fun while also being able to take command to get the photographs that were wanted and make sure the day was running smoothly. It was like having a great friend/coordinator who was able to take miraculous photos at the same time. Darla was very professional, very responsive and flexible throughout the whole process. She definately does her best to make sure you get what you want and will do all she can to make it happen...and if that is not enough, we found her prices to be extremely reasonable as well. All in all, my wedding day would not have been nearly the magical day it was without her and she was also able to provide us with photos that caputured that essence so well that we feel as if we are reliving it everytime we go through them. Darla was very professional. She arrived early and took very special pictures on our day. As soon as the pictures came back she invited me over to view. I found Darla Photography early in my wedding planning and met with her. She was charming, not pushy, friendly, funny and knowledgeable. Coincidentally, she had just done a wedding at the church I was getting married in, and was kind enough to pull up the photos. Even more coincidentally, the bride in the photos happened to be a colleague of mine who had gotten married a few months earlier! I had a good feeling about Darla as it was, and the glowing review my colleague gave me the next day at work sealed the deal. In the meantime, I had only met with one other photography vendor and they in no way compared to the warm & fuzzies (yes, I know this sounds cheesy but when it comes to wedding planning, I think warm & fuzzies are important) that I got from Darla.

On the day of the wedding, she arrived RIGHT on time -- on the nose. She helped keep the guys on schedule and out to the church on time. She assisted with my bustle issues. She helped me receive and manage the floral arrangement delivery, which arrived two seconds after she started doing some awesome boudoir shots, when I was, um, not quite dressed to answer the door. :) She thoughtfully arranged with the reception venue/hotel to park in a spot right behind where the limo was to pull up so that she would be right behind us the whole time. There was just many little details that she did that made things flow smoothly. She didn't miss a beat. She has a positive energy and is really fun and easy to get along with. She showed me a few of the pictures as she was taking them, and they looked amazing. I can't wait to see the prints and get all the photos once they are ready! (Darla - I have a few fun photos of YOU with the belly dancer that I need to email you!) On an administrative note, she is organzied and follows up when she says she's going to. She helped keep me on track with payment schedules and even helped me figure out my timeline, too. You simply can't go wrong with Darla there to photograph your big day. The day was better and more perfect because she was there.

Darla photography from the moment I first talked with her I could tell she would be easy to work with. She didn't pressure my fiance and I into buying more then we budgeted for. She has excellent credentials and the pictures to back it up. Her team and her provide top notch quality photos that capture parts of your day in so many different lights. She helped keep the guests in line at the ceremony and organizing the family shots with ease. At the reception she blended into the background and was always moving around. She even stayed longer then what we contracted her for to get additional shots. On top of that we got a great deal when paying in full. Looking forward to seeing the photos. She showed me a few while she was taking them and they looked beautiful.

Darla provided photography for my daughter's wedding. She was just a wonderful addition to the day. Meeting with my daughter and her future husband ahead of time to understand what they wanted and what the sensibility of the wedding photos should be. Darla captured the playful, loving spirit of this wedding of a couple in their early 20's. Though she was unobtrusive, her photos seem to have been taken from every angle at all the right moments. The resulting photos and albums are just great. I would highly recommend Darla to be your wedding photographer.

I was very pleased with Darla's work as our wedding photographer. She was very honest in telling us what would work and what wouldn't, and I really felt like I could rely on all of her experience to produce a great product. Additionally, she was very thorough and was such a help the day of the wedding. I didn't hire a wedding planner, and Darla really went above and beyond to help make sure that we got all of the photos that we wanted during the hour between the ceremony and the reception. She wasn't afraid to help usher family and friends into the correct spots, and I really appreciated that she was so willing to help out. At the wedding, she was extremely professional, and she blended right in with the guests. I really wanted artistic and unusual shots, and she really delivered! I was also very impressed that she had printed out a 4x6 photo of each of our photos to use to chose the final shots for the wedding portfolio. It's wonderful to have each photo printed out! Lastly, Darla is one of the best values for the money that you can find in the DC area! I would definitely recommend her to other brides!

I've been meaning to write this review for a while. I've recommended Darla to several brides after she did an amazing job on our wedding. We had over 350 guests and to see her work the church photos to make sure everyone on our very long list was photographed is something we still talk about. Her packages are great too!! Book her!!

Darla Photography was one of the best vendors I have EVER had the privilege to work with. First, her resume and skills are impeccable (Vogue & Glamour how can you top that?) Second, Darla's prices and packages set her aside from the other photographers we interviewed. In fact, the package we selected was by far the best package offered amongst all of the photographers we interviewed. Prior to booking Darla, my husband and I spent a lot of time and energy interviewing local photographers. We considered photography to be a top priority in our wedding planning because after our wedding we will only have our pictures and memories to remind us of our special day. We have absolutely no regrets in our decision to use Darla Photography.

On the morning of my wedding day, she arrived at my bridal suite (early) and took amazing photographs of me and bridesmaids getting dressed. She captured photos of my "ladies in waiting" helping me into my wedding dress and fastening the rhinestone buckle on my shoes. She took detail shots of my Presidential Suite while at the same time ushering us out of the door to make it to Oxon Hill Manor on time for my wedding. (Thanks Darla) She is amazing and her attention to detail will allow you to relive your wedding day in the images she captures.

Hiring Darla Photography was a "no brainer" and one of the easiest and best decisions we made for our wedding. She is amazing and trust me you will be pleased.

Darla was great! When I first spoke with her on the phone she was very straight forward with me and I liked that. She has been doing photography for a long time and she said listen to her and she will get great pictures. She gave us a great deal for paying in full and it was nice because it was one less thing to worry about. On the day of the wedding she came an hour prior and she took a lot of the pictures before so it didn�t mean taking so many pictures after the ceremony. At the reception party she blended right into the party, she danced with our guest, chatted with them making everyone comfortable while she was taking pictures. She was great and my husband and I were very happy with her service. We haven�t seen the pictures but I have no doubt they will come out very nice.

Darla was wonderful to work with. She did not pressure us to buy more of a package than we wanted. Her prices are very reasonable. We had just her taking pictures and no videophotography. She was polite to all and very thorough. We received our pictures after around 4 weeks and they were great! She thought to take pictures of things I did not consider (i.e. bridal shoes) and got a lot of good candids. She gave us a DVD and let us decide what kind albums we wanted. A real delight.

Darla did the photography for my best friend's wedding, a few years ago. I remember getting her card and I called Darla to do my wedding a couple weeks ago. Darla was already booked on my wedding day but she sent me two of her photographers. They were wonderful! They arrived on time, they were professional and they did everything that I asked them to do. They came to my house to take pictures of me getting ready. Then they met me at the church. After the ceremony, I dragged them out to a few Washington D.C. monuments to take pictures. They ran from place to place and never complained.

The two photographers were at my house at 3 PM and they left my wedding at 12 AM. Darla only charged me $2300! I thought that was amazing! Before the photographers left my reception, they showed me a few pictures that they had take of me on their digital cameras. I was so excited. The pictures looked great! I can't wait to get my pictures.

My experience with Darla and her company has been pleasant. She always returned my calls and reponded to my e-mails. I liked her customer service.

At first, I was afraid to accept any other photographer but Darla sent me the best two men she had. They were so wonderful to deal with. They always smiled and they gave me and my bridal party a lot of attention. I am sure that my photos will be awesome.

Darla is out of this world. Her service and attention are amazing. Her prices will shock you, especially once you have seen her portfolio. She should be charging much more for weddings, considering she is an accomplished/published photographer. She is hysterically funny yet very professional and down to business. You will not miss a picture that you want but she flies through the photos so you can get to the reception. I highly recommend Darla.

Darla is GREAT! She was one of our favorite vendors to work with. We talked with quite a few photographers before making our final decision, but at the end her pricing for packages along with the quality of her work was unmatched.
Darla is awesome to work with her sense of humor and no-nonsense personality makes sure that you get exactly what you want. Shes got great creativity especially for the small details (my jewelry, reception lehenga etc.). Ours was an Indian reception, and Darla was unfazed by the strong personalities of Indian parents! She also went above and beyond the call of duty she helped get a hold of wayward caterers, stylists, errant in-laws etc. We cant wait to work with Darla in the future (her maternity portraits are wonderful)!

Darla was a FIND! I had looked at quite a lot of photographers when I stumbled across her - I don't remember how now -- but she is not only a great photographer, but a riot to work with! She made everyone laugh during pictures and she has such an easygoing, yet direct manner - she was able to keep things moving along and everyone in line for pictures, yet had them laughing at the same time.

We can't wait to see the results but from my experience interviewing 1/2 dozen photographers, she is definitely a great value!

I hired Darla Photography for my bridal portrait and wedding/reception photography. Darla did the bridal portrait herself and it came out excellent. She was not available for my wedding day so Catherine was my photographer. She was very pleasant and easy to work with. She was not up in our face the entire day but did manage to capture a lot of really great photos!!

DARLA Photography is the best photographer hands down!!!!! You must check out her website to see everything she offers for wedding packages. Every bride wants to have a photographer that understands their unspoken needs, especially on that special day. As for me, she was everything my husband and I were expecting and MORE. Her outgoing personality and honest approach in her business is very difficult to find in photography - other photographers are placing an unequal balance on profits (high) and quality (low). Her phenomenal work has kept her in this competitive business for over 35 years and has clients worldwide. This fact alone is enough said.....but let me go further. DARLA Photography offered my husband and I soooooo much for such a GREAT PRICE that we could not believe, and trust that we shopped around for weeks before discovering Darla via bridal magazines. Again, she is the best out there. I still have so much gratitude to her for capturing so many beautiful memories back on August 12th....she has become a family friend.

Darla was a pleasure to work with during the planning process for our wedding. She showed up on the day of my wedding and blended right in, using her professionalism to capture the important moments without causing a scene. She was very efficient in getting people to where they needed to be, taking the necessary photographs, and ensuring that each moment was captured perfectly. Darla and her staff were amazing! She is very personable and professional. She made my wedding day the most memorable day of my life. My wedding was in March 2010. After meeting with several local photographers I chose Darla because I felt her photography style truly captured what I was looking for. Didn't hurt that even her competition (one of the vendors I visited) admitted she was a wonderful photographer! Her prices are reasonable for every budget and her professionalism impeccable. Our photos turned out beautifully - much better than I expected. Her prices are very reasonable without sacrificing quality. I loved working with her. She's really nice and was very helpful during the wedding. She helped me get into my dress and everything.
She seemed a little frazzled because there was a fire during our reception and we were all evacuated from the building. However she did manage to sneak into the Ballroom and get her equipment after they evacuated us! She's great and I really recommend her especially if you are on a budget. Middle eastern and muslim brides: Darla is very familiar with arab, Iranian, pakistani and indian weddings

I'm so glad my husband and I chose Darla as our wedding photographer. From our very first meeting we loved her enthusiasm and how comfortable she made us feel. She was always prompt in responding to my emails and calls and didn't mind answering question after question I had throughout the entire wedding planning process. Darla recommended the beach nearby Celebrations at the Bay to use for pre-wedding pictures with the bridal party -- and I'm so happy she did! On my wedding day they were calling for rain and Darla called me that morning to make sure I wasn't completely stressing out. While it poured during our ceremony, we were able to get pictures at the beach ahead of time and they came out great!! Thanks Darla!

I chose Darla based on her work, and her price. Overall I was pleased with my pictures. I wish I had gone digital though instead of film. I also didn't care for her assistant on the day of. But again - overall I was pleased.

For brides getting married in the off-season and on a budget, this vendor is an excellent option. That said, I would not recommend for any other situation. Calls were not returned for days and information had to be provided multiple times as it was being lost. It was impossible to get her off the phone. And its just my opinion, but I don't need a vendor yelling at me or complaining about legal woes. The pictures were decent, but pale in comparison to other photography experiences I've had and the artistic quality of others. So, maybe I just had a bad experience, but I would neither use again nor recommend to a friend.

Worst photographer! If you want unforced, cropped heads, terrible photo vision or blurred pictures etc. then go for it. She ripped us off and promised a second photographer then charged us more money to stay for the most important part of the wedding reception at the end because she came early. If you want to see my wedding photos I got from her, then by all means contact me, I'd be happy to share the photo scam that is Darla photography that ruined my wedding photos. The photos she showed us didn't even compare to what she gave us. She even cut the top off the wedding cake! In most of the photos, peoples faces were too brighten and blotchy. We even took her to court to get at least half our money back and she didn't even show up! Don't take the chance and regret choosing her for the biggest moment in your life.

My wedding date was October 5, 2013. On January 19, 2014, I finalized my album seIections via the album design site (Pictage). Over a year after my wedding date, as of today - November 8 - 2014, Darla has still not finalized or delivered a wedding album to showcase my special day. I have reported this to the Better Business Bureau (BBB). On November 7, 2014, the BBB finalized my complaint in their database as "The business failed to resolve the complaint issues - 11/7/2014 - Delivery Issues." As any other bride would be, I am beyond disappointed that I have no wedding album to share with my family & friends.
