When we got engaged 2 years ago, booking Dan and his team was a no brainer. From the very first meeting, up to our special day, Dan and his team were professional, kind and flexible. Dan played pre-ceremony and cocktail hour and absolutely killed it. Dan and the band kept the dance floor going all night for the reception and Mark (DJ) listened to our every request and delivered smooth transitions and bangers on the dance floor. After our wedding (10/11/25) all our guests could talk about was how awesome the band was! If you want a group who will have all of your guests on their feet book The Dan McGuire Group. -

We cannot say enough good things about Dan McGuire Group! Our guests are STILL talking about how great they were, and about how they played songs you don’t always hear at weddings, but still songs everyone could dance and sing to, which is exactly what we wanted. They kept everyone on the dance floor all night, and we had so much fun! The entire process leading up to the wedding was also SO easy, and they seamlessly learned 3 new songs for us that weren’t on their list (and wouldn’t be surprised if they now added them to the list because they were such a big hit!). Thank you for making our night so amazing!!! Highly highly recommend. -

My family is VERY much into live music. We spend our weekends going to music festivals, concerts, and to our neighborhood pub to enjoy the local talent. Needless to say, finding a great live band was a top priority for me during wedding planning.
I knew I wanted a live band... but NOT a typical wedding band. It would ruin my night if the reception was filled with the same awful weddings songs (queue September, Sweet Caroline, and ANY Journey!)
Our wedding planner sent us to see a couple of wedding band expo's but they were all playing the same, awful, cheesy wedding music that was just not our vibe.
My fiance and I met and got engaged in Baltimore. We knew of Tom Starr band because they always play at Cat's Eye Pub in Fell's Point and we had seen them play a couple of times at 8x10 in Fed. The second we found out that they also do weddings we signed the contract immediately.
They were everything I could have hoped for and more. We did an acoustic guitar and keys for the ceremony, band trio for cocktail hour, and the whole band (standard package + keys and horns) for the reception. It was perfect. They learned all of the songs we wanted for first dances, threw in some Dead during cocktail hour, and kept the energy going all night long.
They provide mic's for the ceremony, a DJ to play music while the band is on a very short break, an MC to keep everything going as scheduled, and provided our photo booth.
I really loved working with them and couldn't recommend them enough. All of our friends and family said how much they loved the band and told us it was the most fun wedding they've been to because everyone was on the dance floor all night long.
Thank you Tom Starr for making our day as perfect as we hoped for :) -

We can't say enough amazing things about Dan McGuire Group!!! We picked a 4 person live band and added a photo booth for our wedding and we also chose to have an acoustic set for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Everything was PERFECT! The communication was so fast and professional from the start and Jon was so great to work with on the initial planning and photobooth. We were really stressed about picking the music for the wedding and once we met with Dan and Adam for our final planning call we felt like a giant weight was lifted off of us. They were so kind and patient with us and gave us so many great suggestions. They also learned the song we chose for our first dance because we wanted a live version and they KILLED IT! (FYI, Dan, your Hozier voice is amazing)! We cannot thank you enough for everything you did to make our wedding day perfect! You guys had everyone up and dancing and everyone had the best time (we are still getting compliments)! -

DMG Group + District DJ (Jon): the best band in town! I see and hear A LOT of bands and DJ’s, because, well, I am at events every week (I work for a catering company). DMG really stood out to me for more than one reason. Of course, their music and sound is unmatched. Dan and his team are incredibly talented and provide all genres of music. They provide an extensive list of music that they know and are willing to learn new songs, too! The second reason I chose DMG is for their friendliness and the way they carry themselves. EVERY event I work with DMG (as a vendor) they have always been so kind and EASY to work with. I truly enjoy their company and the most important part is that they truly care about the bride and groom and truly want them to have the best day ever. People are still asking me who our band was and I am so thankful I chose them! THANK YOU DMG!!! -

My husband and I opted for having a live acoustic guitarist for the ceremony and cocktail hour and a DJ for the reception. We felt that for us, this was the best of both worlds. Dan was able to play the songs that were most important to us for the ceremony (either by already knowing them or learning them) and then he chose the cocktail hour music; which was still music we enjoyed! For the reception, Jon kept the dance floor going and everyone had a blast! They were great to work with! -

Dan, Jon, and the band are incredible professionals. The band plays a wide range of songs and have amazing energy! Our guests commented about how great the band was and how fun the wedding was overall. If you want a great event book DMG! The best part about DMG is that you get a band and a DJ which makes for a seamless reception. Jon organizes all the dances, intros, fun stuff while Dan and the band play great music. It really is the best of both worlds!
The band learned multiple songs for us including a song dedicated to my wife's father. It was a special moment for my wife and her siblings to hear and dance along to their dad's favorite song. I can't thank the band enough for making that happen.
In addition to the band playing the reception, we also booked DMG to play and mic the ceremony and play during the cocktail hour. Both add-ons were well worth it and we highly recommend adding those to your day.
Jon and Dan are extremely responsive, helpful, and flexible to make your wedding a special day. It was extremely easy to work with DMG and they were one of the most memorable parts to our day. They also bring a list of fun ideas for the reception including the Photo Challenge which we did and it was super fun as well as resulted in a ton of great pictures with our entire group of guests. Overall, they are outstanding and great value! Plan your wedding date so you can book DMG!

I cannot recommend DMG enough! Not only do they give you the option of an amazing band but also a top notch DJ/MC. You truly get the best of both worlds. The entire team conducts themselves with the utmost professionalism and makes every attempt to bring your wedding vision to life. For those that dont have every detail of their wedding already planned on their Pinterest boards, these guys are also perfect. I let Danny take the reins on song choice and he absolutely crushed it! I am not lying when I say that the dance floor was packed from the time we finished our parent dances to the very last song of the evening. He is a true master of choosing songs based off of the crowds energy and vibe, which is such a stress reliever. We received so many compliments from our guests and the experience was nothing like any other wedding I have been to! -

Major thanks to Jon and Dan for helping to make our wedding day extremely special. They kept us organized, involved us in some real-time schedule changes to get the party started faster, incorporated our music selections and preferences, etc. People raved about Dan playing our ceremony and cocktail hour and we received so much positive feedback about Jon's energy and how he was able to engage our family and friends to get them dancing.
Friends of ours had recommended DMG after their own great experience working with them in 2020 and I'm so glad we went with them after having initial conversations with a number of different groups. Look no further - these guys are great! -

Dan McGuire and his band and their accompanying DJ, Adam Halliday were an absolute pleasure to work with. From step one, they were easy to get in contact with, prompt with all of our questions, and made us feel comfortable about having them be a part of our big day.
All of the professionalism aside, these guys know how to play. We had a huge list of songs to choose from, and our guests loved it when we told them we were having a live band. Definitely a difference maker and one of the parts of our wedding I'll remember forever. Thanks guys! -

It was a pleasure working with the Dan McGuire Group. From the initial phone call to the final call weeks before our April 2022 wedding, they were professional and incredibly accommodating. We had Dan McGuire playing acoustic guitar during our ceremony, cocktail hour, and our first dance. He truly helped create the ambiance we were looking for, even learning our first dance song. Adam Halliday was our emcee and DJ and did a great job keeping the evening moving and fun, playing a great variety of music that any generation enjoyed. You should hire the Dan McGuire Group. My husband and I were struggling with the music for our wedding. We wanted a live band, but we’re big rock fans and didn’t want a ton of stereotypical “wedding” music. I’m also a musician and needed to have a talented group. We were about to give up and just get a DJ when we found DMG.
Even if rock music isn’t your thing, I highly recommend DMG. They were a highlight of the entire event; people couldn’t stop talking about how good they were and how much fun everyone was having. I’m still getting compliments when I see people months later.
It was really important to me to have a wedding where people got up and danced. I wanted people to get together and let loose and that is exactly what happened. DMG was really great at reading the room and with creating a setlist that ebbed and flowed throughout the evening. I’d also be remiss to ignore Adam, who emceed and was DJ during band breaks.
All around, we had a wonderful experience, and I don’t have a single complaint.

Hiring the Dan McGuire group was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. We did a combo of live acoustic guitar (by Dan) for our ceremony and cocktail hour, before Jon, took over as MC and DJ for the rest of the evening. Everything was perfect from initial inquiry to final song of the night. Dan and Jon listened to all of our requests and wants and executed it all with ease. Dan is extremely talented and Jon kept the party alive all night long. I would absolutely recommend hiring this crew for your wedding entertainment needs, and I would also recommend the acoustic guitar/DJ combo for those that want both live music and the flexibility that having a DJ has to offer. The value and quality are hard to beat. -

Dan McGuire Group far exceeded all of our expectations. When looking for wedding bands, we found them through word of mouth, and decided to go see a performance in Frederick just for fun. After hearing one song, we knew that we wanted them to play at our wedding. What really sealed the deal was that Dan made the time to talk with us during the set break. From that point forward, Dan and Jon went above and beyond to get to know us, what we wanted for our wedding experience and ultimately tailor our wedding music from ceremony to last song to be exactly what we wanted. Throughout the whole experience they were fun, flexible, all the while professional!! We highly recommend them for your upcoming wedding (or any event for that matter)! -

The Dan McGuire band put on one of the best parties we've ever been to. We hired them off of recommendation, and they had everyone dancing the entire. We gave them our general taste in music, plus a few songs that they learned just for our wedding, and they ran with it and put on an amazing show. I can't recommend them enough. -

The Dan McGuire Group brought our wedding to another level. They were so flexible to work with. We had to postpone our wedding 4 times due to covid, and the group postponed right along with us with no penalties. Our wedding ended up being a Thursday.. and it was a blast.
Dan played acoustic during cocktail hour, starting the reception off perfectly. He is so talented, and our guests loved it. After cocktail hour DJ Tim absolutely crushed it! Everything was on pace, super organized, and so much fun. Once the band started that dance floor was packed. You'd never know it was a Thursday! We had the best of both worlds with the band playing to start, DJ taking the middle and the band closing us out. Seriously, if you want to have the best party ever hire these guys! Oh, and they let the bride come sing with them at the end. :) They're awesome! -

The Dan McGuire Group and John as their MC made for a perfect wedding day. Planning was made easy with outlines and multiple phone calls throughout the planning process. The ceremony and cocktail hour music was beautiful. The reception was perfectly MC’d by John, who made sure everyone was in their places at the right time. The band during the reception made the day. The dance floor was not empty for a single second the entire night, trust me, we still have people telling us how great the music was that night 3 weeks later. Whether it was the band or the DJ sets during band breaks, there was barely a second anyone wanted to leave to even grab a drink! What a great experience working with these guys who made our wedding unforgettable. -

We are SO thankful we were able to book The Dan McGuire Group!! They were booked on our original date but after three COVID postponements we were able to find a date and book them! We went with the band & DJ combo and could not have been happier. Jon was super professional and made all of the communication seamless and reassuring (especially during such a crazy time). Dan and the band handled all of our ceremony mics, the uplighting, and provided unmatched entertainment. We told them we wanted everyone to be dancing and left all the song selections to them. They NAILED it. Our friends and family are still talking about how amazing they were and how they've never seen the dance floor so crowded from start to finish. When they say "all people remember from weddings is the food and the music" - it's true!! We're so thankful they made our wedding unforgettable. Book this crew ASAP! -

The Dan McGuire Group knocked it out of the park! We had to reschedule our wedding due to COVID but they were still willing to accommodate our new date/circumstances. We had to move a large portion of everything outside and they worked wonders with the venue to make sure we could do first dance outside and have everything set up inside for the dancing. They played amazing music from Fall Out Boy to the Beatles. Everyone had so much fun and I would highly recommend them for your wedding! We also had tim as our dj, who played music for the dinner, and when the band took a break. Tim got my husbands grandmother dancing to Low by Flo Rida!
Leading up to the wedding Jon was very responsive and DMG made sure we had everything we wanted for our special day. Dan learned how to play new songs for us for our ceremony, one of which brought my aunt to tears since 1. She’s never heard the song at a wedding and 2. It was written by a deceased singer that has close ties to my family.
Overall, fantastic group and you should absolutely hire them! -

Booking these guys for our wedding was absolutely the best decision I could have made. They were super responsive, organized, and professional throughout the whole planning process and even more amazing when it came to the big day. The combination DJ/live band was the best of both worlds and people were dancing the whole night! We got so many compliments on the band and we could not have been happier. I'm a little biased, but I think it was the most fun wedding I've ever been to and these guys are the reason! -

I swear- I danced the entire freaking night with these guys... I seriously didn’t want to spend the money for a band but my husband won that argument... and I’m glad he did! Our wedding would not have been half as good without them. The dance floor was PACKED. Just book them. Do it! -

The Dan McGuire Group was the perfect choice for our wedding. We mostly made plans through Jon and had a phone conference with Dan and Jon together to go over what we wanted. They are so professional and thorough. Their spreadsheets for planning the reception had things I never would have thought of. They handle the ceremony music, cocktail hour music and emcee the entire wedding and kept everything on track. I love that they DJ as well as have a live band. They also worked with our officiant and the sound equipment she needed. They were so flexible with allowing my brothers to perform the songs for our first dances. The only downside is that, as the bride and groom, you will be extremely jealous that all of your guests get to enjoy them for the entire event while you are off taking pictures, etc.! We used the DMG for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception and it was one of our best decisions for our wedding! The planning process was seamless and by having Dan and the band and Jon as DJ, you get the best of both worlds and do not have to compromise on the pros/cons of band versus DJ. Plus the music was just amazing! Both Dan and Jon excel at what they do and they keep the energy high throughout the entire event. In addition, they provide you with a bunch of fun ideas that can make your reception that much more memorable, will learn some songs for you and were easy for other vendors to work with as far as hooking up to sound, etc. Thanks again! - Sarah and Daniel -

We cannot say enough, and our guests have continually stated that the music choice for our wedding was perfect. The Dan McGuire group and DJ Jon were absolute professionals, Jon handled all of the MC'ing and ceremony music. Dan and the band handled cocktail hour and main entertainment during our reception. Having a live band that can totally rock and cover modern and a wide variety of songs really kept our dance floor rocking all night long. We had guests of all ages who had nothing but positive feedback.
We cannot recommend them enough. Do not hesitate to book them and get excited for one of the best days and parties you are going to have! -

I originally hesitated to hire the Dan McGuire Group because my daughter's wedding was in Charleston so we had the additional cost of travel for the Group. But when I started looking at the cost of having to hire someone to play the ceremony, cocktail hour and the reception and also a DJ to fill in the breaks, it was a no brainer to hire these guys! They did everything and even did the sound for the celebrant and I didn't have to worry about anything. They were all totally amazing and really gave my daughter and new son-in-law the party they really wanted. If you don't select these guys, you will miss out on the best band. EVER. Dan's vocal range is amazing and their song list is awesome PLUS they will even learn some songs just for you. Had my daughter crying during the father/daughter dance as they performed a special song my husband requested. I can't say enough about how great these guys were! -

UPDATE:
Just had my wedding on June 4, 2021, after rescheduling THREE times (thanks covid...)! The whole time Jon, Dan, and the group were amazing! They were super responsive and flexible with all of the changes. They were also super helpful with the planning and timeline, then at the wedding, they kept everything running super smooth! Everything was PERFECT!
I had guests coming up to me during the night and even after telling me how amazing the band was! They even learned two songs for me and Mike, which they pulled off flawlessly!
They provided uplighting which added to the atmosphere.
HIRE THEM! You will NOT regret it! They really made my and Mike's wedding PERFECT and I cannot thank them enough!!
Just booked The Dan McGuire group for our wedding in May of 2020! So excited to have them play at our wedding. First discovered them at a bar in Frederick, from that first time seeing them perform my friends and I have loved their energy and talent!
They have been amazing about being in contact with me and my fiance. They have great ideas on their contract, are willing to answer all questions, quick with responding, and are totally willing to work to make our wedding request/dreams come true!
On top of the guys being a talented band, but for weddings they travel with an expert wedding DJ to keep the guest moving and interested all night long!
Can't wait for our wedding and to dance the night away to the talent of The Dan McGuire Group! -

Brooke Sent on 07/18/2018These guys rock. Stop thinking about it and just book them. Jon and Dan simply know what they are doing, and excel at it - as does the band they brought with them. Their musical selections for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were perfect. Not only did they fit the mood of each individual piece of the day perfectly, but they learned countless songs specifically for us, and knocked them out of the park.
