    The best experience!

Dan was absolutely wonderful to work with. It was like working with a longtime friend. He also had great recommendations for our ceremony. He will be our “go to” photographer for future special moments.

    Dan Manning Photography LLC's reply:

Thanks so much! You guys are the sweetest and we're truly the best to work with. It's been such an honor getting to know you both and to witness tug progression of your love story!

    Wonderful to work with!

Dan was amazing for our 9/26/2020 wedding, and a couples session earlier that week. He was so easy to work with, and the pictures are stunning!

    Dan Manning Photography LLC's reply:

Thanks so much Megan! I had such a wonderful time working with you both! Both your wedding and your engagement session were a dream. You two are so cute and sweet together and I can't wait to see what the future holds for you both! Hopefully we'll see each other at an epic tide pool one day!

No words can describe how happy and in love my husband and I are with Dans' work! We found him right in the middle of our town on main street and set up a meeting. We booked him the first time we spoke and are so happy we did. Dan has such amazing work ethic, drive, and a great eye for perfection! His packages offer so much variety and encompass many different forms of photography.
For our engagement shoot, we really wanted to go somewhere special and incredible. Dan went on a hunt for the perfect spot and got us down under the Snoqualmie Falls! We took amazing shots of the falls and us. He makes being in front of the camera comfortable and natural. He lets you live in the moment with your loved one while he stands in bushes, on rocks, and hops around to gets the best shots!
When our engagement album had a mishap in shipping Dan did his very best to get it fixed and compensated us for the extended wait time. He is always thinking of his clients and getting them the best memories for a lifetime.
We met many times before our wedding day. Dan even through a Bridal Party for all his clients. It was a special day for us to interact and see other vendors while being celebrated by our amazing Photographer. We found many of our vendors at his party.
When it came to our wedding day, Dan made sure to have an amazing assistant (@Afton Lewis) to get the best shots. Together they found the timeless moments for Connor and I to keep forever. Again he let us be in the moment while he snapped our photos. It is strange to say, but it was like he wasn't there at the wedding but we ended up with all these amazing and intimate moments.
When we came in to see our wedding photos, he treated us like good friends, which we are now! The moments he caught on camera brought us back to our special day. The ease at which he can tell a story through photographs is extraordinary. It was almost impossible to choose our favorites for our wedding album but Dan found a way to make it look perfect

I am Eden Bao, seasoned portrait photographer, internationally-recognized educator and speaker on maternity and newborn photography, first place winner in the International Shoot and Share 2018 Photo Contest for the Engagement and Couples category. While that does not mean I am an expert at weddings, I am a leader in the industry.

When I was approached with an opportunity to second shoot for Dane's wedding, I did not hesitate as I consider Dane a good friend and colleague. His knowledge, humor and contributions brighten our photography community.

As part of Dan Manning Photography's team, it saddens me deeply to hear about Dane's experience. I have reviewed the wedding gallery and given the variables out of our control such as the inclement weather, schedule and location, I feel that the images Dan Manning Photography delivered were excellent, diverse and representative of how this beautiful wedding went. I don't know how we or any other wedding photographers could have shot this better. Many photos shared by Dane on his Facebook page were IMHO portfolio-worthy and the couple looked happy.

I am honored to witness this couple's love for each other and wish them the best in their future.

    Poor communication, Don’t use!

Warning! Do not use this guy! My wife and I have had a terrible experience. No communication….. no photo album, what a waste. Should have trusted my gut when a got a bad vibe from him during our engagement photos. Seems like this is a common theme. We hadn’t posted a review earlier because initially he told us about personal issues and we were trying to be understanding. Now that we have seen other reviews with couples with the same experience….. we wish we would have know before using him. So hope this helps other couples before getting involved with this guy.

    -----

If you've been referred to Dan to hire him as a photographer, especially for your wedding, I highly encourage you to ask around the local wedding community, along with recently married couples, wedding planners, coordinators and other industry vendors about their experiences and/or hearings of Dan Manning Photography. While my review is solely based off of my experience, I am not the only one who feels this level of distaste towards him and his business practices.

The process of picking a wedding photographer should be fun, should be exciting, should be something that doesn't bring you frustrations and heartache, but that's barely scratching the surface in my experience hiring Dan.

He makes a lot of promises that he's incapable of keeping, and tells you all the things you want to hear in the beginning to make you book him. My wife and I were SO excited to hire him in the beginning, but within 15 minutes of our first (of 2) engagement sessions, we knew immediately that it was a terrible mistake and it was proven to us over and over again through out our entire wedding process. It was so terrible that even the guests at our wedding were making comments about his lack of skill and inability to do his job and that's an embarrassment on so many levels.

All in all I will never recommend him for any photographer related job, ever. I hope that his current clientele and future clientele receive much better service and have a better overall experience than my wife and I did as I hope that all business owners succeed in their fields. And if clients are still receiving similar service, that he takes these frustrations and feedback and does something with it to better his business.

    Dan Manning Photography LLC's reply:

I'm not sure where to begin regarding a response to this review. There is too much inaccuracy and communications between us that state the exact opposite of this experience. Any potential and current client should always vet their vendor. If anyone feels like we're not a good fit, they absolutely should not hire us. Our business model and our pricing is not a secret and we are upfront with what clients typically invest. There was never any holding images hostage, because as a client, you knew we only provide physical products. Digitals have always been a bonus to your order, not the main course. As a photographer yourself, you're fully aware of the intrinsic difference between photography business models, so I'm confused why your review states a frustration or surprise that you didn't automatically receive digital items with your sessions, since this was all information you knew prior to hiring us. There were sparse opportunities for diversity in photos during your wedding due to the extreme weather, limitations of the venue, and the bride's personal preference of not getting rain on her dress, which was understandable. Upon finishing the posed images, I asked both of you directly if there were any other shots that you wanted and you both said no, indicating that you were satisfied with the groups that we documented. Your expectations on my ability to go against those elements and provide more than the full gallery I delivered are not realistic. I wish I could have been able to do more, but I did the best I, and most would have, given the limitations, while still delivering the high quality images that you expected. I did in fact mail an album debossed with the incorrect date and I fully apologized and sent a refund for the upgrade that you chose to add on. We provided a free engagement session upgrade, even though it was you who requested a second session, solely because the weather was uncooperative with the first session, a $25 gift card for Sara when she was unhappy with her makeup that another vendor did, over 2x the amount of photos we normally provide for portrait sessions, as well as rushing your editing and reveal to mere days instead of weeks, you asked us to purchase you coffee while we were on a vacation and we brought it home for you, a grooms gift of your favorite chocolate truffles in bulk, sparklers from our personal collection for your wedding exit when yours failed to arrive on time, a custom USB with every photo which we don't even provide for other clients, as well as helped you sell your wedding props to another client of ours. We never charged you for any of those extra services and favors. There is a difference between ego and confidence. I feel confident in the gallery and product I delivered given the limitations I had. I refused to succumb to your demands of a substantial refund while still delivering your wedding album. I wouldn't have worked so hard to accomplish a compromise if I believed the photos were bad. Unfortunately, a compromise couldn't be met as I was unwilling to offer such a large refund given that I delivered a full wedding gallery on par with my portfolio's quality, and the fact that you still ordered and wanted the album, but were against working together or meeting on a mutual agreement. In regards to my portfolio, there is and has only ever been one styled shoot and it was promoted as such. Every single photo, other than our Mt. Baker snow session is from actual clients in real sessions. I thought that your wedding day went wonderfully, even with the severe weather and timeline issues. I kept going over and over what I could have possibly done differently to make you happy. I cannot think of anything, short of acts of God, that would have made you happy in the end. It will haunt me forever to know someone believes I ruined their wedding day. I wish you and Sara all the best in your life together and that one day you'll be able to look at the photos with smiles.

Warning. OVER promise.. does not complete his work

WARNING!! My husband and I hired Dan Manning after meeting him at the Seattle bridal Expo. For our wedding in July 22. He started out very communicative and responsive. Until we had set up our engagement photo session. He was late getting our engagement photo gallery to us so late that I could not use any our wedding invitations. My bells went off at that time but my full deposit had been paid by this time and too late to hire new. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. His gallery of past work was beautiful, after all. He had a delightful second photographer with him on our wedding day and I felt a bit better. Wedding was July 1, 22 and we did not receive our Digital Wedding photo gallery until November 8, 22. Well past the 8 weeks. He gave us excuses as busy season and going through a life change- divorce. After viewing and selecting the photos for the prepaid for albums and prints(per contract) he went radio silent. It is now November 23 and we have not received any response, from text, emails and phone calls. We had to pay in full prior to our wedding day for the full photo package,. This is because of the contract and as it states we are not able to print our own photos. Not only do we not have pictures of our wedding day, my in laws had their 50th Wedding anniversary the same day as our wedding. We did some extra shots with them and the leather bound album was going to be a special gift for them. We are now at the stage to pursue legal action. DO NOT USE this person!!!
