Amazing - Contact Early!!
Heather is absolutely incredible! She is so knowledgeable and knows how to make any dress look great! I had a dress with a lot of delicate laters and lace. She was able to hem my dress AND move the delicate lace up the dress so I did not lose the details I loved about the dress. She was so professional and just amazing. I was nervous that she would be out of our budget, but she was in line with a lot of the quotes I received and she is by far the best in the business. She also added made sure the dress looked amazing while bustled. She also made it very easy for someone to bustle the day of. I am so eternally grateful to have been able to work with Heather! -

10/10 experience, Heather is the best!
Heather is truly a joy to work with!! Not only did my wedding dress fit perfectly, she made me feel so confident every time I stepped into her studio! She is extremely professional, and walked my MOH step by step through the bustle instructions and made sure she understood. She is an artist at her craft, and I would recommend her time and time again to any bride needing alterations done! Her alterations space is located in her beautiful home, and there is ample driveway parking as well as on the street in front of her home. -

Heather is an absolute gem, and I’m so grateful for her expertise in altering not just one but two very different dresses for my wedding. From our first meeting, she put me completely at ease with her wealth of experience and deep knowledge of dresses, fabrics, and alterations. She didn’t just make my dresses fit perfectly; she also provided great tips and ideas that made the process so much smoother.
One thing I truly appreciated was her honesty and reassurance about what it means to wear a delicate dress all evening. She reminded me multiple times that my dress would get dirty, and things might even fall apart—and she was absolutely right! By the time I walked down the aisle, the underside of my dress was dirty, and during the reception (#KnuckIfYouBuck), one of my straps came undone. But none of that caused me any stress because Heather had prepared me for the reality of enjoying my night in a beautiful, delicate gown.
On top of her technical skills, Heather has a calming presence that worked wonders for my nervous energy. She was always polite, kind, and patient, which made the fittings so much easier. Bonus points: dress alterations can sometimes feel uncomfortable due to body image concerns, but I never felt anything but confident and comfortable in her care.
Heather is truly a master of her craft, and I couldn’t recommend her more highly. She made my dresses—and me—feel amazing on one of the most special days of my life. Thank you, Heather! -

Heather is amazing!! She is super knowledgeable, professional, kind and efficient. I purchased my dress at The Wedding Shoppe in St. Paul and they provided me with a list of recommended seamstresses, when I looked up Heather and read the hundreds of positive reviews I called her right away! I was nervous about scheduling my appointments, being that I live in North Carolina, but would be getting married (and my dress was stored) in Minnesota. Heather quickly took a look at her calendar and was able to schedule all 6 appointments during trips I was already planning on being in Minnesota. The appointments were quick and simple with Heather's expert guidance and she even taught my mom and maid of honor how to do the bustle (which Heather makes foolproof and simple!). I would highly recommend Heather for any bride and would highly recommend booking as soon as you can, as she stays very busy with clients, for good reason - she is a pro! -

Heather is AMAZING!!! I bought a dress that I loved, but wasn’t fully me and I didn’t feel 100% confident in at the time of purchase. I knew it was a risk but I am so happy that I found Heather who was able to create the dress of my dreams! From day one, she was always looking for more ways to perfect my dress and step by step, appointment by appointment, things came together perfectly and I feel so comfortable in my beautiful wedding dress! Exceptional Alterations Experience
I cannot say enough great things about Heather, her talent, attention to detail and the entire dress alterations experience! From the first interaction with her I knew she was detailed, organized and highly experienced. I knew instantly that my dress was in great hands. She took a dress that I loved and transformed it into the most amazing thing I have worn! I loved my dress from the moment I bought it, but I didn't have that bridal dress moment until half way through the alerations process when I could see how Heather transformed the dress into MY dress! When I brought my dress to Heather it was a long sleeve, low neck, backless, wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen. 😅 I have a small chest and the top had no structure so it was gapping and slipping off everywhere.
But I had ZERO problems on my wedding day thanks to Heathers amazing sewing skills and advice. The sleeves and top fit me like an absolute glove and never moved all night. I was able to hug, dance, and twirl with out fear.
Would go to her for a perfect fit every time. -

When I was looking for Wedding Dress Alterations, I came across a couple reviews on some facebook groups for Heather. When I called her, I knew right away that I had made an excellent decision by requesting her expertise. The first time I met Heather, she made expectations clear, the estimate was precise (and accurate on pay day-within $25!), and she had this glowing aura about her that made me excited. From start to finish, Heather was such a joy to speak with and talk to and just be in the same room with! As a plus size bride, looking for someone to make adjustments to a dress is TERRIFYING- and Heather, never once made me feel bad about my size, never commented, criticized, or treated me like anything other than a bride. If I am ever in the need for dress alterations again, Heather will be the FIRST person I call!!

A wonderful experience
I HIGHLY recommend Heather for any wedding gown alterations! The dress fit pretty well for being a second hand dress, but brought it to Heather for some fine tuning. Her hands are absolute magic! She made it to fit my body like a glove! I also thought it was reasonably priced given the fine detail and attention she gave my gown (and corresponding with me). From the moment I stepped into Heather's in-home alterations studio, I knew my wedding dress was in the perfect hands. Heather is incredibly knowledgeable and is great about passing on her knowledge so informed decisions can be made every step of the way. I loved that she had several appointments throughout the process so that you have touch points on how your dress is coming along and know with certainty that each alteration is happening just right. Heather's great eye for design means that each detail is maintained, even as the dress is being taken in. Not to mention the beautiful (and clean!) studio space that she has created - beautiful changing rooms, lots of natural light, and a large mirror so you can watch Heather work her magic! Your dress is in good hands with Heather
Heather was so detail-oriented and caring when it came to my wedding dress. She has a ton of experience, you won't have to worry about a thing with Heather. She was accurate with her cost estimate even though we added additional appointments so she could get everything done and make it look perfect. I ordered a strapless wedding dress and she was able to build custom straps on it so it looked exactly the way I envisioned it. My dress was fitted with a lot of lace, and she was able to alter it to fit like a glove. She also added a french bustle which was stunning the day of the wedding. Thank you so much, Heather! -

Heather was recommended to me through my first bridal salon, although that dress fell through she was so supportive in working with me for my second dress. Heather cares deeply about her work and her clientele. Shortly after I got engaged in December of 2020, I asked my mom if she would be ok with me wearing her wedding and altering it. Once she gave me her blessing, I told her I didn’t want to commit 100% until I found the right seamstress.
I originally met with Heather in October of 2021 to discuss wearing my mom’s wedding dress and would the changes that I want even be possible. After Heather told me that these changes would be possible, we got started. I saw Heather for 9 more appointments and my dress became a dream come true.
I loved working with Heather, she was so amazing every step of the way. Halfway through the process, I decided I wanted to add a tulle skirt and she was so willing to make the additional changes.
I couldn’t be happier with how my dress turned out and was so happy working with Heather. -

Reasonable prices, and she's flexible. She planned for potential future appointments, gave me multiple options for a bustle and was honest with me. She informed me that I didn't need my dress hemmed or taken in, gave me a bustle, fixed my straps and added pockets!!! The price I paid is unbelievable! I couldn't have asked for anything better. When I asked for an inquiry somewhere else (for just the hem, bustle and pockets), I was quoted $700. Sadly, i didnt fit into my dress on the day of my wedding (it was too big, I didnt realize I lost weight, and i picked up my dress 2 weeks before the wedding. But I'm so glad I went to Heather. If I had to redo everything, I would still choose her -

I was referred to Custom Sewing by Heather from a friend, and I am so glad I was able to work with her before my wedding date! I contacted her in December of 2020, sort of late in the game, and she was able to book me for 3 try-on dates with her at her beautiful home for May, June, and July. My wedding was October 2nd.
My dress needed minimal alterations, so she was able to book me shorter notice.
Heather was so kind and professional, and her house was easy to find an so beautiful. I felt very comfortable with her. Not to mention, my dress fit Amazing! -

How you feel in your wedding dress the day of is one of the most important things and something I wouldn't trust just anyone to get right. I 100% recommend Heather to any bride. Heather was kind enough to hold onto my dress and rescheduled my appointments to be closer to the postponed wedding date. Heather is the best! She took my dress from not fitting correctly to fitting like a glove, we were a covid wedding that had to reschedule, and covid was not kind, But you would NEVER know she re-worked the back to fit.
She was so patient and sweet and took everything I wanted and made my dress look stunning!

A dream to work with!
The dress alterations were something in the wedding process that I was the most nervous for because my dress was so intricate with lots of beading and appliqués, and the fact that the store recommended I buy a size that ended up being way to large so the dress needed to be taken in a bit. However, as soon as my first appointment and finished, I was completely at ease and knew that I had 100% made the right pick with Heather. She was so professional, kind, and knowledgeable. She knew exactly what she was doing and supported me personally and professionally along they way, especially during Covid. She as an absolute dream to work with and was always willing to go above and beyond to make sure my dress was perfect. I even moved 5 hours away during the wedding process but Heather was not a vendor I was willing to give up and the trip to see her every two months was completely worth it! She made my dress fit like a glove and I felt so comfortable, beautiful, and happy in it. I cannot recommend her enough! -

Heather was amazing to work with! She had fabulous work ethic and got my dress done in only 4 sessions! She had to hem my dress, bring the bodice in, add a belt, and also add 19 bustles - she totally rocked it! Heather is absolutely amazing! She had recommended a different bustle than the wedding shop I purchased my dress from and it was WAY BETTER! It fit the style of my dress so much better and she showed my MOH how to bustle it the day of the wedding. Her work is flawless and she is highly responsive. Wedding Day Delay - Perfect Fit!
Our wedding date was originally April 23, 2020, but postponed to October 22, 2020. We were scrambling to, more or less, replan our whole wedding for 6 months later. The stress was unreal and having to reschedule was very emotional. Heather didn't sweat it! She finished my dress alterations as planned and extended my appointments in order to allow for my maid of honor to learn how to bustle my dress near our October wedding date. She was wonderful to work with as she understands the wedding stresses and emotions that a bride is going through. She always has a smile on her face and will let you know if there are alternations that are needed that you haven't thought about. She is an expert at fitting and it shows in our photographs. Thank you, Heather, for helping me through to our wedding day! My dress was perfect! -

Heather was so incredible to work with! I got married on Halloween, and wanted black lace added to my wedding dress. She told me she was capable of doing anything, BUT to keep an open mind! In the several appointments I had, she always had a welcoming smile on her face! She was also very honest and straight forward when deciding where to place the lace(which I really appreciated!). When it came to my dress, I was worried about the alterations as the dress was no longer made by the designer and had been tried on many times in the past. There was so much work to be done with it. But when I met Heather for the first time, I knew my dress was in excellent hands. She took her time with every bead, bustle and stitch, and she worked well with me during COVID. Heather also took the time to work on a heirloom garter and my veil that ended up having a rip in it. She fixed it to wear you couldn't even tell there was any rip at all! Heather was almost a 3 hour drive for me. But she was definitely worth the drive. My dress was super important to me so I didn't just want any ordinary seamstress working on it. I wanted Heather. Someone who takes their time and not only knows the bride, but also knows the dress. The atmosphere of her shop is beautiful and makes every bride feel like a princess. Every time I went to a fitting and put on my dress, it reminded me of why I picked the dress in the first place. Heather has a magical touch to every fix she does. She is amazing, patient and kind and knows how to calm down a bride when a difficult matter approaches. I recommend Heather to all brides who want their dress to not only be "The Dress" but the dress with magic sewn in. -
