Book Crazy Dutchman Now! Incredible Wedding

Hans and the Crazy Dutchman team made our dreams of a backyard southern barbecue a reality. From initial planning to week of wedding, the CDC team made the process as easy as possible. From helping us with menu planning for an August wedding, to making sure we had all of our favorites, I was impressed with them from beginning to end. Best fried chicken around! Thank you CDC :)

Amazing food for Alhambra Hall wedding!

Crazy Dutchman Catering was an amazing choice for our Alhambra Hall wedding! Our guests commented on how delicious everything was -- the shrimp and grits were a special favorite! Amazing food!!

Great, tasty food!

We used this vendor for our wedding last week and we were very happy with them. The team that set up and helped with the food was professional and kind, and very helpful. The food itself was delicious. We received a ton of compliments on the variety of food and flavor. We will definitely use them again for other events in the future if catering is needed!

The team at Crazy Dutchman Catering is outstanding. From our tasting to the meal the day of, they never missed a beat. We had change after change after change, and Anna was fabulous and so accommodating. We were on the fence about a couple of our changes but we spoke with Hans and he walked me through our options and was extremely helpful. The food was AMAZING and the pricing could not be beat! I received countless compliments from guests about the food—especially the cider pulled pork and the mashed potatoes. If you haven’t booked your caterer yet, ACT NOW and book the Crazy Dutchman team before someone else does! I promise you, you won’t regret it.

Excellent service!

We hired Crazy Dutchman to cater a party during our wedding weekend. The whole experience was great -- Hans and Anna were really helpful finalizing the menu, they were really responsive and flexible with us when we needed to change plans, and the food and service on the day were incredible. Our friends and family haven't stopped talking about how good everything was. We would definitely recommend them to anyone and everyone.

Dream Wedding during the 2020 Pandemic!

Hans and his team provided excellent food for "stations" and the bar service for our daughter's wedding. They are professional and very responsive, especially in navigating through COVID protocols. Anna assisted with the planning and was outstanding - providing detailed information in a timely manner.

Great Food

Crazy Dutchman did an great job catering the food and bar for our wedding. They staff was so easy to work with and very responsive. On the day of the staff was professional, friendly, and attentive. Our guests still talk about how good the food and drinks were!

Great wedding catering!

We had a wonderful experience with Crazy Dutchman for our wedding. They were by far the best value I could find in Charleston and our guests loved the food! Working with them leading up to the wedding was a great experience as well. They were always quick to respond to emails and questions and very organized. I would definitely recommend using them for your wedding or any other even!

Amazing food and dedicated staff

We booked with Crazy Dutchman Catering for food and bar service for our wedding reception, and had an overwhelmingly positive experience all around. Hans and his team were very professional and responsive. The staff members were so friendly, and worked hard through a tropical storm to make sure that everything was perfect, despite the weather. The food looked and tasted AMAZING - our guests are still talking about it two months later! (A couple of the all-time favorites were the hot spinach dip and the shrimp and grits!).
We are so happy that we go to work with CDC, and highly recommend them to anyone who wants excellent food and bar service (and at a great price!) for their special event.

Fanatastic, authentic food

In a city where wedding vendors charge an arm and a leg, Crazy Dutchman Catering is a breath of fresh air. We had our wedding at a fairly unconventional, rustic venue, and Crazy Dutchman Catering helped us pull off the perfect lowcountry menu. We had a lowcountry boil, pulled pork, banana pudding, chicken and waffles, just to name a few... Our guests raved about the food all night. The best part - Crazy Dutchman Catering is easy to work with, flexible, and offers reasonable prices. They were great about handling some of the logistical challenges at our venue, and they were super patient despite our indecisiveness throughout the process. I would highly recommend hiring Crazy Dutchman Catering!

Wonderful food, great service!

Crazy Dutchman Catering is my absolute FAVORITE caterer in Charleston! CDC catered my April 2019 wedding, and this is not the first time we've worked with them - they're that good! The selection of available dishes and cuisines is incredible, food is delicious, and you won't find better service. The best choice for catering!

Working with Crazy Dutchman was one of the easiest parts of the whole wedding process! Everyone was so responsive! They were able to provide guidance about everything from food choices to set up at the venue! The tasting was so fun too! Prices were affordable and the food was AMAZING!! I literally could have eaten 5 plates of those grits!! All our guests loved the food too! We got so many compliments about it and there was so much! Definitely recommend crazy Dutchman!

Easy to work with, friendly, and professional

Crazy Dutchman Catering did a wonderful job catering for our rehearsal dinner. They responded promptly on emails and were very helpful in figuring out how much and what kind of food to serve for the type of event we were going for. The day itself went seamlessly, the food was great, we had pork loin and chicken tenders with a couple other veggies. The pork loin was especially great, it was juicy and tasted great. We would easily have Crazy Dutchman Catering for another event! Quality, outstanding services and affordable, and the staff was professional, kind and courteous the whole time.

Crazy Dutchman was recommended to us by a family friend who was beyond thrilled with how their services worked out for their event. We began discussing menus and after we received our first estimate, were sold on the value. We wanted to have a reception menu that reflected "us" and had items we both loved. After some back and forth between my bride and I, we committed to a menu and scheduled a tasting at their offices. This was one of the more fun aspects of wedding plan in our opinion and we highly recommend doing so if you can. Eating in front of someone who is not also eating is a tad awkward, but they take detailed notes if you want items to be seasoned differently or something does not suit. Everything we tried we liked and were excited to share with our guests.

During the tasting we were able to modify a few other items to include the plates and utensils from their baseline and see what the options were. We opted to use disposable hard plastic plates that looked like fine china with silver plastic utensils, which saved us nearly $1k in china rentals and reduced the overall labor cost. Another neat part of the tasting experience is seeing all the notes on the walls thanking this catering company for donating all the leftover food from their events to the Crisis Ministries.

Our guests LOVED the food at the reception and no one went home hungry. Our coordinator had a staff that brought plates of food from all three stations to our sweetheart table. Our only regret is that we were not able to eat more, but as the bride and groom, that's how it goes. They made sure we had to go boxes to take as we departed the reception which were greatly appreciated after a wonderful and busy day.

From the very start everything was upfront and we always felt we could reach with any questions that were answered in a timely manner. We would love to use them again highly recommend them for your catering needs. You will not be disappointed.

Crazy Dutchman catering provided the food at my wedding this May and it was so delicious! Everyone loved it and said they couldn't stop eating it! We did the station style buffet and that worked out perfectly for us since we wanted more food options. We also had food at cocktail hour which people have said it was so good. Crazy Dutchman was recommended to me by my wedding planner, and I am so thankful to her for that! I cannot imagine a better balance of quality and price point exists anywhere else in Charleston. In fact, my father-in-law (a very practical, money-smart engineering type) saw my wedding catering quote and decided to use them for our rehearsal dinner too. Their service, responsiveness, and friendliness are top-notch, and the food is so delicious! In fact, we were told we would get a take-home bag of food in our limo at the end of the night, but there was none because the food was so amazing my guests CLEANED THEM OUT. (To be clear, I think this was an extremely good sign and high praise for Crazy Dutchman, and not their fault at all!) My guests raved about the food at both events, and they made things easy for us at every step of the way. I'm even a shrimp and grits snob (and I order it at every opportunity), and the shrimp and grits at my wedding was among the best I've ever had. Thank you Crazy Dutchman for a stellar wedding weekend!

We are so so thankful for Crazy Dutchman and their crew for helping us have the BEST wedding food. We searched tirelessly for a catering company for our wedding and were so disappointed by the small portions and unimpressive quality we kept finding at our tastings. We had a very conservative budget but were determined to find GOOD food. Finally, we found Crazy Dutchman and got everything we wanted on our menu (& more) for a price that we were comfortable with. We did a "Charleston" themed menu since most our guests traveled from California and boy was it a hit. We had a couple appetizers during cocktail hour and then for the main dinner had pulled pork, chicken quarters, red rice with sausage, pimento mac n cheese, coleslaw, cornbread, salad and peach cobbler and banana pudding for dessert. IT WAS AMAZING! We have been to nearly 20 weddings and have never left feeling full or satisfied... but this meal left everyone full and happy! So many people complimented us day of and sent texts after raving about how delicious our food was. So many brides and grooms had also told us we wouldn't eat at our wedding and to prepare to go home hungry... well that was not the case for us. Crazy Dutchman prepared us HUGE plates and made sure we got to eat at the reception and then packed us two take home containers full for the night of. We thought that was it until we went home the next day to find our fridge full of massive trays of more leftovers! We now don't have to start married life off hungry... or cooking! Yay! We also had Crazy Dutchman do our bar service, they did an amazing job with that as well! We had two different bars and no one left thirsty :) We are so happy we found Crazy Dutchman and hope to use them again very soon for more parties, gatherings in the future! You will not be disappointed with this team!

I had an unbelievable experience with Crazy Dutchman Catering! I was planning a wedding in Folly Beach from Chicago and was extremely nervous on choosing my vendors. I reached out to a handful of caterers and none of them were as responsive and proactive as Crazy Dutchman. They were in constant communication with me and were extremely flexible. They heard what I was looking for and needed very little direction from me. We had our food catered through them, our bar and our rentals! All of my guests raved about the food, I had a lot of people say that this was the best meal they have had at a wedding, which is a HUGE compliment. I cannot recommend Crazy Dutchman Catering enough. We had Crazy Dutchman Catering provide a lowcountry boil with sides and drinks for our rehearsal dinner, and everything was simply perfect. We hosted the dinner in our back yard, and they showed up early to get the boil going so it would ready to serve at the designated time. The food was delicious, and they packed up all the leftovers for us to keep. Working with Hans through the planning and asking questions stages was also incredibly easy. He was flexible in taking our calls outside of work hours (since we were 2 time zones away) and was straightforward with information and pricing. Great experience!

Crazy Dutchman was a dream to work with for our recent wedding. They were responsive, courteous, and extremely professional. Crazy Dutchman makes really delicious food and is by far the most reasonably priced caterer I had found in Charleston. I can't count many people were raving about how unbelievably good the food was - many people went back for seconds. We were able to do a tasting to make sure we liked the menu we picked, and also got the chance to plan out any additional add-ons we wanted. The CDC Bar was also very affordable and had many options for all tastes. They also cut SUPER happy with my catering choice!

The quality of food is amazing. Everyone enjoyed the buffet and appetizers provided by Crazy Dutchman. Great flavors and a great price. We were originally going to do a food truck thinking it was cheaper having looked at other caterers in Charleston, but Crazy Dutchman was the best value we found in the end. And we're so glad we went with them because their food was PHENOMENAL. There were multiple revisions to our menu throughout the lead up to our wedding and they worked with us every step of the way. We used Crazy Dutchman for our catering for our reception, appetizers for cocktail hour, and our bar service. Hans and his crew were very helpful throughout the process in helping us determine our menu and drinks. The food was amazing and our guests still weeks later are telling me how good the food and drinks were! I would not have changed anything about the process in working with this company and would highly suggest them to anyone looking for a caterer for their event! I would suggest many of their food items, but the pulled pork sliders, bruschetta, mac and cheese, potato bar, and spinach and artichoke dip were by far the favorites!

We used them for our wedding for food and bar. They were amazing when it came to our food and changing certain parts of it. The price was great and the service was great. Our guest raved about how great our food was. They left us meals to eat after the wedding which was the best thing ever. They came in set up and left without us even knowing. On the day of your wedding, every detail counts. And on our wedding day, the catering company detail, couldn't have been any better! Not only was the food exceelent (we received many compliments from guests gushing about the food), the set up was top notch! They really used the space we had optimally. During the actual event, the staff was perfect. They were always around, helping clean up, clearing tables for guests, yet never seemed to be "in the way." Everyone on staff was extremely professional, yet personable. We loved having the Crazy Duthman Catering Company work our wedding, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

We loved them from the start. Hans is so kind and gave us such great advice, well before we were even ready to book our venue and do tastings. I never felt like he was pushy or sales-y. He gave his honest opinion and taught us a lot about the low country, as we were planning our wedding from Chicago. We really appreciated it, especially considering there was no guarantee we were going to go with Crazy Dutchman Catering in the first place. That really stood out to me and showed how they are genuinely great people.

Once our venues were booked, we went to CDC for a tasting and loved them. They let us taste almost the entire menu, and it was incredible. They always kept our budget in mind and suggested effective ways to cut down on costs. They were very, very helpful and professional.

We worked with Brooke during the wedding planning process and she was incredibly professional, fair, easy to work with and she always had our budget and best interests in mind. She gave so many great recommendations, and also took care of our rentals, which was actually cheaper than doing it on our own. What a relief, especially since we were planning from Chicago!

CDC did a low country boil for our rehearsal dinner and then all of the food and bars at our wedding the following day. We are STILL getting compliments on how incredible their food was for both nights. Everyone is still drooling over their food - they are THAT good.

Their staff was wonderful, professional, well-prepared, friendly and my guests and I appreciated all of their hard work. They made our rehearsal and wedding night go perfectly. We couldn't have had a better experience!

We absolutely loved working with Crazy Dutchman Catering for our wedding at the Cooper River Room on July 29th, 2015 --the food was amazing, the service was top notch, and they were so quick to respond to any and all of our questions. Hans and Brooke designed an incredibly delicious "stations" based menu, along with fantastic appetizers, and beer/wine service to fit our tight budget. Our guests especially loved the Lowcountry Boil and BBQ sliders stations! They even put together to go boxes of food for us to take home (we didn't have much time to eat). My husband and I are SO happy we chose to use Crazy Dutchman Catering for our wedding day! We live in Northern Virginia and we did all the planning for our wedding from there. The entire Crazy Dutchman team was wonderful to work with from our first tasting, until after the wedding! Several guests commented on how delicious the food was and what a wide array of choices we had for every eater. We used Crazy Dutchman for our rehearsal and are so very glad that we did! We wanted a very southern menu and Hans came up with the perfect solution - low country boil, BBQ, and an oyster roast. We had the rehearsal dinner in the back yard of the house where we were staying and they provided absolutely everything we needed. The staff (thank you Bill and John!) were so attentive and professional. They set everything up and cleaned up and we didn't have to worry about anything.

The oysters were fresh and local and everything was delicious. I would have gladly used them for our reception if our venue wasn't all-inclusive. :)

We had Crazy Dutchman cater our son's wedding rehearsal dinner for 25 ppl. Crazy Dutchman Catering was an awesome choice for our wedding! We booked them over a year in advance for cocktail hour snacks & drinks, dinner, and bar services. Hans helped us pick out the menu and we went to a tasting before we booked! We used Crazy Dutchman for our wedding 5/30/15 at Pepper Plantation with about 175 guests. I cannot say enough good things about them. They were by far me & my mom's favorite vendor that we worked with throughout the whole wedding planning process. They are so organized & responsive. The food is amazing. We did "southern style" buffet stations with a cocktail hour and they did not bug me at all with questions about where to set-up, etc. which was awesome. I trusted their experience & everything turned out perfectly. The staff on-site the day of was professional, unobtrusive and friendly.

I cannot wait to plan another event so that I can use Hans & his team again!!

My husband and I got married in Oct of 2014, and we are still hearing from our friends and family how awesome the food at our wedding was.

When planning, we knew that we wanted a casual barbecue, but really really delicious.
Hans helped me create a menu that was what I envisioned, but also offered some sound advice when choosing some items. (For instance, corn on the cob. Not the best wedding day food, lol.)

Hans also handled our bar service, and helped me arrange table rentals. We had signature cocktails along with wine and beer, our guests were happy. The sweet tea vodka w/ lemonade is a winner.

I cannot say enough about Crazy Dutchman Catering. We had so many contract changes over the course of a year and Hans was so accommodating and never once seemed annoyed. We used Crazy Dutchman for both food and bar and the pricing was exceptional. We decided to do an oyster roast for cocktail hour and a pig roast and bbq themed dinner. We made it a goal to eat during our wedding and we are so glad we did. The food was so good!! We never actually tasted the food before the wedding, we just relied on online reviews and a tasting that my MIL went to. The staff assigned to our wedding were fantastic. Someone from Crazy Dutchman even signed our guestbook and wrote a sweet message :)

Crazy Dutchman was so amazingly helpful as we moved through the process of planning our daughter's wedding Nov. 22, 2014. Not only did they provide us with outstanding food and service, they we uber helpful in the planning stages early on, when we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do.

They helped us with how to arrange the setup for the venue hall and ceremony outside, ordering linens and chairs, as well as providing us with wonderful food and great service all evening long. They were very unobtrusive, but kept our ~200 guests well-serviced throughout the event.

I could not have been more pleased with the quality they provided us from beginning to end! Nearly every guest with whom I talked all night raved about the food. [AND we enjoyed the leftovers the next day, when we actually had time to sit down and enjoy them.]

Crazy Dutchman was recommended by Magnolia Plantation and I have to admit that I didn't think we needed our small intimate wedding catered... boy am I so glad that we hired them!!! We had them do a simple BBQ menu and they fit it perfectly to meet our needs and we opted to have them do a beer and wine bar. The price was unbeatable, but the quality of the food and professionalism blew me away. They helped me with rentals, setup plan, and assured me that they would take care of everything. The staff was amazing. They showed up on time, set everything up as planed, and did so with pleasure. I didn't have to check on them or guess if they were doing their job at all. My guests raved about the food and how attentive the staff was. They made it look easy and I didn't have to lift a finger or worry about clean-up. Crazy Dutchman recently did our wedding. They were phenomenal! The food was so great that people are still talking about it. I only have wonderful things to say about Hans and his staff! He was wonderful to work with: very responsive, helpful, accommodating, and best of all, the food was INCREDIBLE! We received so many compliments on the food and and the menu we chose. We had boiled peanuts and fruit and cheese spread for appetizers. For dinner, we had salad, rolls, cornbread, pork tenderloin with delicious apple chutney, mashed potato bar, green beans, and shrimp and grits. My friend who is also from the south and has had shrimp and grits countless times said that was probably the best shrimp and grits she'd ever had! I can't say enough good things about Hans and his crew. They did a Lowcountry Boil for my son's and his beautiful fiancé's rehearsal dinner which was held at my house (mother of the groom). Hans came out on a freezing, rainy day months before the wedding because I was concerned about the best place to have it on the property. He gave excellent advice and the "why's" for doing certain things. They also did the bar and that was done flawlessly, too. Hans used Snyder Event Rentals for the tables, chairs, and linens and everything was coordinated perfectly. Everyone loved the food! This is the second time I have used Crazy Dutchman and the first time was done so well that I knew they would be great for the rehearsal dinner. I had a last minute change that required rearranging the bar area, when I decided to have Yeehaw Junction play for the party (GREAT band). Hans was completely accommodating.

The team at Crazy Dutchman is awesome. My fiance and I went to do the tasting. They were so thorough & brought up things we haven't even thought about. The food was wonderful and everyone at our reception raved about it. I whole-heartedly recommend Hans and his team!

Hans and Staff were wonderful!!!

We just had our wedding at Harborside East in Mt Pleasant. Our guests are still talking about the Southern Dishes they served up for us. On a budget, we were able to feed our 120+ guests station style and do it right! We didn't need to cut corners, Crazy Dutchman worked with us and the budget to get us just what we wanted (and a little more).

I got quotes from 5 other Charleston caterers and The Crazy Dutchman came back with the lowest quote (by a couple thousand). I figured we might as well go to the tasting and it blew us away. I was planning my out of town wedding and Hans and staff made it all so much easier and stress free. We also did our rentals for the ceremony and reception though them (also less expensive than any one else).

Both my husband and I and the wedding guests were more than pleased with our menu.
Top favorites from our guests: Shrimp n' grits, Crab cakes, and the Chicken skewers with peanut sauce!

You will not be let down- good option if you are an out of town bride!

Hans and Karen were a pleasure to work with. They catered both our rehearsal dinner and reception, so we got to experience a variety of their dishes. Everything was wonderful and we received many compliments from our guests on the food. They were also a huge help in coordinating our rentals for us. I highly recommend using them for any event you are planning!

Every step of the way, Karen and Hans made planning our food & event rentals for our destination wedding a breeze! We didn't have an opportunity to taste test before & that presented no issue at all because the food was delicious! We had fried chicken, pulled pork, mac & cheese, green beans & tomato/cucumber/onion salad on the menu to create a sample of all, okay most, things Southern for our northern guests and ourselves to enjoy. Karen, Hans & their staff made sure we were able to sample all of the food available providing plates of cocktail hour goodies to enjoy while we took photos, making sure our glasses were full and sending us home with a sample of everything to eat later on. Without reservation we reccomend you have crazy Dutchman provide food for your next event!

For our at-reception last weekend, we used Crazy Dutchman Catering. Hans and Karen were excellent communicators from the moment that I sent them an inquiry. I thoroughly enjoyed the tasting. Their food is wonderful, and people have been telling me all week how delicious it was. They are also VERY affordable. I would definitely recommend them! You can't go wrong!

It has taken me WAY too long to officially review the Crazy Dutchman team. I keep recommending them to everyone I know. Hans and the team were so easy to work with for our wedding. They were professional and delivered on everything they promised without a hitch. The food was delicious and the staff was incredible. Best of all, they are so reasonable about costs. They are in business because they are amazing at what they do - without ripping you off. Love them!

The NUMBER ONE thing I CONTINUE to hear about my wedding - now four months past - is how delicious the food was!! Hans and Karen were so lovely to work with. They were attentive to our needs, and made a delicious product. Everyone raved and raved about the food, which was a big point for us. They worked with us on budget and provided service that was above and beyond what I expected. From the tasting, to the coordination - everything was superb. When they didn't have a specific item I wanted, they found a recipe for it and provided it. (And it was INCREDIBLE).

Throughout my wedding, one of them was continually bringing me a drink or a snack. I never had to even look for the bar or the buffet. And their to-go boxes were PERFECT for late night snack after partying with friends.

I so highly recommend this vendor to anyone, for any reason! They were professional, polite, fun, accomodating... I could go on and on. THANK YOU Hans/Karen for the perfect food for a perfect day!

When we dreamed of the perfect Rehearsal Dinner in Charleston, we knew that an Oyster Roast and Low Country Boil on the water would be the perfect event. Being an out of state couple living in Georgia, we knew our selection in vendors was going to be even more critical because we just wouldn't not be able to run down the street or set up face to face meetings. From the first moment I spoke with Hans and Crazy Dutchman Catering, I felt at ease. He took the time to listen to what we wanted, and more importantly for us, made some amazing recommendations for our guests. They even included the bar which is difficult to find in Charleston from the caterers. When it came to that Friday night, the weather was perfect and so was the food and service. I can honestly say -- "The Best Oysters I have ever had". The team was even attentive to help my Mom shuck some steamed oysters. If you are looking for a one stop shop that is professional, attentive, and serves fantastic low country fare -- stop your search and visit their website.

Working with Hans and Karen at Crazy Dutchman was so easy. They were great from the beginning and worked out several different sample menus for us so that we could pick something in our budget that also satisfied our tastes. I did not have a true wedding planner (had some friends) and Karen was wonderful in providing advice on what would work as far as layouts were concerned and also helped me with linen rentals. The food was great and they will also allow you to take the food with you after the event if you want. We also used them for our bar services and they did a great job keeping everyone's drinks full the whole night! Their prices for food and bar services were better than most in Charleston and the food and service were fantastic.

Hans and the entire crew at Crazy Dutchman were wonderful. We have heard nothing but positive reviews from all our guests about the food and service. Hans and his team were ready with an answer to all of our questions and were willing to accommodate all of our last minute changes or menu tweaks. If WeddingWire converted to a 100 star rating system, I would give Crazy Dutchman 200 stars. The food was among the best I've ever tasted in my life; the service was perfect, sensitive to our needs, and flexible (we decided to end a bit early and the caterer offered to adjust our contract respectively, right on the grounds, mid event!). The value was incredible; bar service was dynamite — they let us choose our own beer, wine, and cocktail (we did a take on Planter's Punch; there was none left at the end of the night).

Did I mention the food was out of this world? The pork tenderloin was moist; the macaroni and cheese was rich; the crab cakes were delicious; everything was spot on. If they had a restaurant I would visit them every time I was back in town.

Really can't speak highly enough about these folks — but I've tried.

Crazy Dutchman Catering--Hans and Karen rock! They were both so easy to work with and the food was amazing! They took care of the bar service as well as glassware and heater rentals through Snyder Rentals. We added a lot of rental things at the last minute as well as changed some of the numbers in the last week and they were super flexible and helpful. I have heard a TON of complements from our guests about the food. Plus they were way more affordable than a lot of other caterers we looked at in the Charleston area. They sent food back to the hotel with us since the bride and groom never get to eat enough at the reception, and donated leftover food to a soup kitchen since we aren't local and couldn't take it with us. I thought it was a really nice way to not let things go to waste.

It has been a couple of weeks since my wedding, and I still have guests gushing about the food!! When I first began discussion with Hans about what kind of food was to be served at the wedding, he recommend we do heavy hors d'oeuvres as opposed to a sit-down plated or buffet-style dinner. I have to admit I was skeptical at first...I was worried all of our out-of-town guests would go hungry. This couldn't be further from the truth. When my fiance and I went to taste the hors d'oevres, we returned home with to-go boxes and we were both full! Hans knew what he was talking about - the heavy hors d'oeuvres style worked the best for our reception since there weren't seats for all of our guests, but more cocktail tables for standing room. We did passed appetizers - caprese skewers and chicken kabobs and stationary appetizers - assorted fruits with chocolate dip. The main hors d'oeuvres were bacon-stuffed mushrooms, shrimp and grits, a mashed potato bar (so simple, but everyone raved about it), pork tenderloin and crab cakes. Everything was delicious and none of our guests went home hungry or disappointed. We even had boxes of food to take to the hotel afterwards! As far as the staff goes, they couldn't be more professional. They have catering a wedding down to a science. Karen came to inspect the venue before the wedding, and made sure they had everything they needed to get the food out on time and tasting its best! I loved working with the entire staff. I hope I can host another event soon so I be able to use them again. I would VERY highly recommend Crazy Dutchmen - for any type of party, any size event, any size budget and for any type of food. A++++ Experience.

From the beginning, Hans embraced our vision for "Effortless Elegance". His suggestions for the menu and bar service, as well as handling the additional rental items and the cake service allowed us to focus on other elements of the reception with comfortable confidence that the food and beverage service was well in hand.

But the proof, they say, is in the pudding--the food itself! Every one of the guests commented on how delicious everything was. The menu was diverse and complimentary. Two standouts: the crab dip appetizer and the creamy shrimp and grits were enthusiastically received by both our local guests and out of town visitors. Your staff quickly and efficiently cleared the leftovers, packing them for easy transportation.

I’m also glad that we also engaged you to handle the bar service. Even with 116 guests—including over a dozen youngsters, the service was flawless.

I could not have asked for better caterers! They were on top of everything and willing to work with us. We had several vegetarians attending our wedding and they gave us some good options to choose from to accommidate our needs. They did a wonderful job on our "walk thru", gave great suggestions and ideas. You would not go wrong using them for any event!!!

My wedding was in August and we had the Crazy Dutchman cater food and provide bar services. The owner and employees were very down to earth people who were very easy to work with throughout the entire process. We couldn't have had a better experience. The food was EXCELLENT and the cost was reasonable. After the wedding several guests raved about their food and wanted to know where their restaurant was and were bummed that they didn't have a restaurant. If you are looking for quality food that your guests will enjoy and remember long after your wedding then you'll be happy choosing the Crazy Dutchman!

I loved working with Hans and Karen preparing for our wedding. Everyone raved about the food and how good it was. Even at the last minute when some of our guests couldn't make it due to Hurricane Sandy, Crazy Dutchman worked with us to help adjust our bar numbers at least.

The only minor thing I had an issue with was the pre-emptive breakdown while my guests were still enjoying the night. The bar closed at 8, and while I expected them to remove the food from the stations, etc, I certainly didn't expect them to remove the linens and tables during the reception. It prompted a number of my guests to feel as though they needed to leave prior to the 9pm sparkler send off.

All in all, they were able to help us put out good food at a cost that was extremely reasonable, especially considering the other caterers I looked at in Charleston. They also helped us distribute our toasting beverages, and sliced our small dessert cakes. Highly recommend working with them.
