Jake was amazing, made us feel really comfortable, and managed to capture all the important moments of the day, big and small. The photos came out fantastic! We feel like the emotion and magic of the day was captured, all while making us look our absolute best. We would highly recommend him! -

Book Jake and Julie now!
I can’t say enough good things about my experience working with Jake and Julie for my wedding. From the very first interaction with Jake, I could tell he was professional and also very knowledgeable. I’ve never planned a wedding and let him know I didn’t have a whole lot of specific photos I wanted, and he explained all of his services and sent me an agreement in a very timely fashion.
Now that the wedding is over and I’m reflecting on my experience, I can safely say that Jake and Julie were the best part of my wedding. They were always working, interacting with guests and looking for more places to get great photos of my husband and me. Jake even fixed one of our groomsman’s suits (a button came off) and wrote in the one name on my seating chart that I didn’t have before I had to go to the venue.
I highly recommend booking Jake to get incredible photos of your wedding, and if your budget allows, add the second photographer (if you’re lucky you’ll get Julie too)! I’m so grateful to both of them for helping me move through the day and getting so many great shots of people having fun!
He also mentioned to me that they will travel, so if you’re not in the Richmond area, you can still book him! 🎉 -

Courage & Co. photographed our wedding and they were absolutely amazing. They were professional, personable, the turnaround time was insanely fast, and the photos are mind blowing. All of our guests couldn't stop raving about how great it was to interact with the photographers and only a week out from our wedding, we already have our gorgeous photographs that we will cherish forever. -

Jake obviously knows what he's doing - he helped us capture little shots we might've missed and helped us feel comfortable in front of the camera. Jake was very flexible with scheduling for our engagement shoot and turned around pictures from it the same day! Every photo was beautiful and well-edited. I would highly recommend getting a second photographer for the ceremony/reception as well - they captured the whole day wonderfully. -

Happy we picked Jake!
Really glad we found Jake -- he shot 4 hours which included our "first look"/portraits, ceremony, and reception; there were only 11 guests, but he still managed to just become part of the background and get his shots when we weren't doing the formal group pics. Everyone said how friendly he was, and we got our photos back in about 5 days! He also did his magic with a couple clicks of an editing button to make sure the tomato stain on my dress (yup, only took about 5 minutes after the ceremony for me to make a mess!) isn't visible in photos, and also edited out a couple cobwebs that were in the background of one, otherwise great, shooting location. He also knew of a place nearby to grab some shots within walking distance of the venue that we'd never thought of. -

Jake was a pleasure to work with from our first inquiry to receiving all of our photos in only three days after our wedding. After looking through many Richmond-based photographers' portfolios and wedding packages, we selected Jake because we were drawn to his photography style and the value offered in his packages. Jake took our engagement photos and wedding photos.
Taking these lovey-dovey photos isn't something we were used to and thought it would be awkward, but Jake makes you feel very comfortable and gives great direction. He has a charming and laid-back personality, and has a great eye for staging photos so that the lighting and setting compliment the couple. Jake isn't afraid to lay on the ground to get the perfect angle for a photo. We loved his dedication to getting a great picture! We were also appreciative that he would listen to our suggestions during the photo sessions if we had a particular vision in mind.
The 1700 photos that Jake (and Julie) took at the wedding were so exceptional - really we couldn't have asked for more beautiful and fun photos. They captured so many great moments between friends and family and we are forever grateful that we will always have so many photos to remember the day by.

We had the best experience with Jake! He did a great job capturing so many wonderful shots of us, our family, and our friends on the wedding day. He made my husband I feel comfortable taking our portraits, and they turned out beautifully. He was great at capturing our essence as a couple and the natural beauty of our venue. He blended right in with our guests and got so many great shots. He and his co-photographer were very professional, friendly, and talented. And we got our pictures back very quickly. I absolutely highly recommend him!!! -

Our experience with Jake was fantastic from start to finish! He was very responsive when we first reached out and was flexible in offering the package we wanted at a reasonable price. I didn't have spend much time communicating with him leading up to the wedding for him to understand our goals - what overall aesthetic we preferred in our photos, and what we were actually looking for on the day of.
Jake arrived promptly and jumped right into it, finding the perfect lighting and backdrops. During the ceremony he was very discreet (as far as I could tell - I wasn't distracted by a camera but we have proof that he was there!), and afterwards he zipped us through the posed photos (as we requested) so we could get right into celebrating with our guests. We requested mostly candid photos capturing the fun of our wedding, and he delivered! Many guests commented that he was absolutely everywhere during the reception, and the 1100+ pictures confirm that!
We received our photos from Jake 3 days after our wedding, and it was SO MUCH FUN looking through them on our honeymoon! Not only were the pictures absolutely gorgeous and exactly what we had requested, he really managed to capture basically everything that happened from before the ceremony through our grand exit (which required him to stay a little after his contracted time and he did with no question!). Jake was so easy and fun to work with - and trust me, you want someone that fun for your wedding photographer, because they'll be interacting with you and your guests the whole time - and his pictures are absolutely gorgeous. I cannot recommend him highly enough! -

Jake and his second shooter did an amazing job at capturing all of the moments I wanted at my wedding. With 220 people he still managed to get photos of all of my guests and he was very flexible dealing with rain, delays, and all sorts of obstacles that day. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a photographer for their wedding or other special event. Great team with a great attitude. -

We had an absolute blast working with Jake! We instantly fell in love with his style and could not be happier with the results of our wedding photos. He is personable and efficient and was great at getting us out of our shells and making us feel comfortable. One thing that amazed me was how many great moments he captured during our reception and we never even realized he was there. I've been to other weddings where it feels like the photographer is in your face all nice but Jake has this uncanny ability of getting into the action without distracting you from it. Jake also has incredibly quick turnaround. I hear horror stories of people waiting months for the photos but Jake managed to get them to us in a matter of days. He even went above an beyond and brought us a thumb drive of our wedding photos when we were having trouble getting the file to transfer. Several members of our wedding party commented on how much fun he was to work with. We were very pleased with his services! -

We had worked with Jake previously on some family photos and he was amazing at our wedding as well! He was professional but also so much fun to work with and helped us get some amazing shots. Everyone in my bridal party and our families was raving about how well he worked with us to get the photos we wanted. I don't even know how he got some of the photos we have because it seems like he would have had to be in 10 places at once - but that's just part of his magic. He has a way of making everyone in the room feel calm and comfortable, and the results show in our photos. I cannot say enough good things about Jake and his skills and I only hope we get the chance to work with him again in the future! -

Kisha Sent on 06/10/2015I cannot say enough good things about this vendor. Jake is open-minded, even-tempered, kind, thorough, creative and professional. When we had our initial consultation, I realized very quickly that he knew what he was doing and I did not (haha). He handed me a list of options for the types of photographs that I would want taken and we went through the day's schedule to make sure he would be where he was needed. I absolutely love his style (which I knew before I hired him since I took a look at his portfolio) and his artistry. Like I said, I really can't say enough good things. Choose this vendor for ease of service and beautiful photographs. I'm still in love with my wedding pictures :)
