Quick and Fantastic Service!

Conklyn's Florist did an amazing job for our small, outdoor ceremony. We were looking for a florist to provide a bouquets, boutonnieres, and corsages for the bridal party. Kenny at Conklyn's Florist was quick to respond to our request. He quickly got the information about our bridal party and wedding colors and responded with an estimate and photos of each piece. We didn't have strong opinions on the types of flowers used, so he worked with us to propose flowers that would fit our overall vision and budget.

All of the pieces were beautifully arranged and exactly as discussed. Kenny at Conklyn's really helped us get exactly what we wanted with no stress or worry. Definitely would recommend to others!

Gorgeous Flowers, Great Customer Service

This review is for both Conklyn's and Middle Atlantic Wholesale Florist. My then-fiancé (now husband) and I originally planned to do all of the floral arrangements for our wedding by ourselves (with the help of my dad), but we quickly realized that would be too stressful and there wouldn't be enough time. We decided instead to use Conklyn's to make our bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres and order flowers from Middle Atlantic Wholesale Florist to make our own centerpieces and big displays. These two businesses are connected, so it was a one-stop-shop for our floral needs and extremely convenient. Carol Bull is sweet, funny, very knowledgeable about flowers and flower arrangements, and has this amazing ability to translate our verbal descriptions of what we envisioned for our wedding into gorgeous reality. Note: My husband and I know next to nothing about flowers, so we were likely spouting gibberish. We told her we wanted sunflowers, with blue and white accent flowers, and Carol helped us pick the perfect flowers to create a bright, fun, lighthearted, wildflower, beautiful look. When one of the flowers we ordered for the bouquets arrived, Conklyn's knew the color did not match the color scheme we wanted. They immediately sent me a picture and a text message, and swapped it out for another flower that worked wonderfully! We very much appreciate their flexibility and great judgment. The flowers Carol suggested for our centerpieces and big displays were super easy to work with, beautiful, and lasted way longer than expected. Armed with buckets of flowers and a few words of advice from Carol, my parents, brother, and I filled 24 mason jars and 2 large vases with flower arrangements in two hours. It was easy and fun! Our guests loved the centerpieces and took them home at the end of the wedding. It's now two weeks after the wedding, and some of the flowers still look fresh! We loved working with Conklyn's and Middle Atlantic Wholesale Florist, and we plan to order from them for future special occasions.

Carol really listed to my ideas and my budget. She made everything work seamlessly. I was really appreciative of them allowing me to use a specific ribbon. The ceremony arrangements were simply SHOWSTOPPING!

I was married January 3, 2015 and Laurie Diver at Conklyn's Florist was so incredibly helpful and patient! First by being ready willing and able to handle a wedding that was 2 days after New Year's day when others weren't. She listened to my thoughts about what I wanted and made the reality even better. She had wonderful ideas of how to implement the picture in my mind but also adjust it to fit my budget. My flowers were elegant and beautiful, thank you Laurie

After visiting a few florists and hearing of conflicts because of big orders and activity for the smaller florists, we were discouraged to say the least. So, we branched out and found Conklyns and we were delighted with the entire experience.
Conkylns had great selections, quality and process.
We worked with Laurie Diver and she was very kind, patient and interested in all the details of my daughter's wedding.

My daughter selected calla lilies(white for bridal party and fire calla lilies for MOH)
They were delivered promptly and they were gorgeous.

Well done. Stick with Conkylns, small florists are sometimes overloaded!

Conklyn's did such a beautiful job creating our wedding flowers. We used them for our bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres, and everything was exactly as I had envisioned it. Laurie was our designer, and was very helpful throughout the entire planning process. I would highly recommend Conklyn's!

I have been using Conklyn florist for many years. They are professional, great customer service, good prices. If I order online and the flower(s) are not available a Rep will call me to see if I'll accept a substitute flower. I appreciate that rather than just sending the substitute flowers without my knowledge.

I worked mostly with Laurie at Conklyn's Florist and she made the process of choosing our wedding floral design easy and fun. I brought in some ideas of what type of feel I wanted for our wedding and she worked with me and my budget to create the look I wanted at a price we could afford. She was very flexible and patient as I worked through the many options she provided me until I make our final choices. The flowers were delivered on time and looked beautiful. Everyone else working at Conklyn's was very friendly and willing to help when needed. It was a very easy process and I never had to stress about our wedding flowers, which is a great feeling with so many things to plan!

Conklyn's provided outstanding centerpieces and bouquets with bright colors to match our spring garden wedding in Arlington, VA. The centerpieces were so beautiful with fruit added to pop more color. The bouquets were exactly what I wanted for myself, the bride, and my girls, with added sheet music to represent my musical background. The designer, Laurie, was in touch with me throughout the process and was very flexible with changing parts of the centerpieces and bouquets. Thank you to Laurie and the rest of the designers on such a wonderful job, would definitely recommend Conklyn's!!

Conklyn's Florist was the perfect match for our wedding. They were professional, courteous, thoughtful, timely and most importantly provided the most beautiful flowers I could have hoped for. My bouquet was so beautiful and when some of the flowers that I chose hadn't opened by the day before the wedding the inserted different flowers that were amazing and obviously more expensive - without any additional charges.

We met with Joanna Brown at Conklyn's Florist and immediately felt a connection. We explained our theme, "Farmer's Market Chic." Joanna worked within our budget, didn't push her ideas or try to make additional money. Conklyn's worked directly with our venue to schedule the delivery, which was perfectly on time. Best of all, our flowers and cake topper was beautiful. You can't go wrong with Conklyn's.

Our flowers were absolutely gorgeous! Conklyn's did not hear "wedding" and decide to jack up the price. I feel like I was able to get exactly what I wanted for a price I felt comfortable paying.

Excellent. Joanna was our contact with the florist and she was just sucha a sweet and professional person to work with. She did and amazing job helping us to choose flowers for everyone in the wedding. We were thinking es to expensive to have many flowers on our wedding but joanna help us choosing a variety of flowers that weren't that expensive and that we're just beautiful and amazing. Thanks so much to the florist. I will absolutly recommend them to my friends. And I am sure I will get more flowers from this place.

They were a pleasure to work with. I found them when doing an internet search for florists in my area. It turns out that they are located near one of my previous residences. They worked with me to choose flowers that were the most affordable and matched my color scheme. They provided suggestions on what flowers to use and what would work best. I loved the way that the flowers looked. They also provided flowers for the wedding cake.

Conklyn's Florist provided all the floral for my wedding.. The flowers were absolutely beautiful and fit the event perfectly.. I will definitely utilize their services for my future floral arrangements and requests..

The very best part about this florist is that I explained to them what I wanted. Mostly created out of my head and they got it. And all the flowers were so beautiful, even the picture in my head was not as beautiful as the final flowers!!! They delivered on time and let me know that the flowers had been delivered.

Nicole Morella from Conklyn's was our consultant. She is great! She listened to me and pulled together bouquets and centerpieces that were better than I could have imagined. The flowers were GORGEOUS! They arrived on schedule with Nicole on Wedding Day. Conklyn's was perfect. Nicole was perfect. We won't go anywhere else for flowers.

Nicole Morella helped me with flowers. She was fantastic! I told her I didn't want anything expensive and she was able to make a beautiful bouquette (bridal) with gerbera daisies, mums, and monte casinos for under 90 dollars! loved my flowers. My altar arrangements were under 110. Great delivery charges. Definitely would use them again!

Beautiful, experienced, flexible, and affordable. Could not have asked for a better florist. It's easy to see why this sweet lady has been in business for over 85 years. She stayed open late to accommodate our schedule and called us to remind us we were late to pick up our flowers. Beautiful and affordable. The best experience.

My (now) husband has a family member who works for Conklyn's which is why we decided to use them. I am completely in awe of what our flowers looked like. We essentially told them we wanted to make sure the reception was elegant but fun and wanted the flowers to reflect that. We let them come up with the centerpieces and everything was absolutely stunning.

We had 3 foot tall white cymbidium orchids in the middle of each table. The bouquets for myself and everyone in the wedding party were just beautiful.

I recommend checking Conklyn's before anyone else. You will not be disappointed!

Conklyn's was great to work with! My husband and I are not really flower-people so we didn't really put too much emphasis on flowers for the ceremony or reception, but when I saw the bouquets and centerpieces, I could not have been more impressed! Our colors were purple, grey, and cream, and the bouquets were a mix of purple and cream colored flowers with succulents. They were BEAUTIFUL. The only reason this is 4.9 stars instead of 5 is because our POC at Conklyn's took a while to get back to me about a question the week before the wedding. We got it sorted out, but just a little stressful!

Conklyn's flowers were amazing! I explained what I was thinking and their florist made several suggests on where to take my vision. They were also very flexible working with the budget I proposed and suggesting ways to save dollars here and there.

I used Conklyn's for our wedding ceremony flowers. We were really only looking for one big arrangement because the church is so beautiful to begin with. I had one visit to them and told them some ideas of what I wanted and what I did not want and the finish product was beautiful.

I would definitely use them again.

I really enjoyed working with Laurie at Conklyn's to plan out my wedding flower package. She was very responsive and willing to work with you to see your vision fulfilled. Fresh wedding day flowers, as usual, are usually pricey; however Conklyn's made it easier to handle with their great customer service.

I loved working with Conklyn's! We chose them because our church only uses 2 florists in the area and has been working with Conklyn's for years. We could have easily just used them for the church flowers but they were such a pleasure to work with that I wanted to do everything with them! Our flowers turned out more beautiful than I could have imagined. I had a picture of the bouquet I wanted for me and a general idea of flowers that I wanted, but Cynthia at Conklyn's was super helpful when it came to the other flowers. She sat with my husband and I and showed us books and pictures and got a real sense of what I liked and what I didn't. My mom ordered centerpiece vases and we spraypainted them all by hand and Cynthia kept one as a sample to work with so she knew exactly how to create the flowers to drop in. They were so beautiful and the flowers were exactly what I was hoping for. She really listened to what I wanted and didn't want and I was shocked when I saw the flower bill because for everything we got, it was so much cheaper than I thought it would be, especially considering the DC area. They are a family-run business and it really shows. Cynthia even called me a few days before the wedding to tell me that a certain flower wasn't going to come because it was quarantined in Holland. She already had some saved up and luckily it was more of a filler flower but she already had solutions lined up and everything was beautiful. I was so pleased by their service and would highly recommend!

Nicole at Conklyn's was great to work with - super responsive and professional and accommodating of the multiple changes I wanted to make in the process. I was very happy with my bouquet, the corsages and the vase arrangement, and the sprays on our chuppah but thought the centerpieces could have been arranged a little differently in order to appear fuller. I had a good idea of what flowers I wanted to use when i first went to Conklyn's, which was helpful as I didn't get the impression that they woudl provide much guidance/suggestions. Their prices were by far the best I was quoted - and I went to 4-5 florists. They also attached the sprays to our chupppah, which was super helpful and allowed us to provide our own vases which cut down a bit on costs. Overall I'd recommend them but more for people who have a good idea of what they want.

I worked with Mona Hicks from Conklyn's florist and she was the best. She used to run the business but now her son has taken over. Anyhow, Mona is the sweetest lady and was very thorough in the planning process. I gave her pictures of the type of bouqet I wanted for myself and a picture for our sweetheart table centerpiece. She gave me recommendations for centerpieces for the church altar and they turned out to be gorgeous (we went with 2 all white arrangements on easels) especially since my mom was adamant about not having gladys in the arrangement which Mona promptly took care of for us. I couldn't have been happier with the flowers. I am looking forward to working with them again and would recommend them to other brides.

We decided to go with Conklyn's because we have had great experiences with them for other occassions. We were very pleased, in fact, the flowers were my favorite part of the day. We were a little worried though, because we weren't sure how they were going to turn out but they were descriptive enough in contract that we had a generally good idea, and they turned out even better than we had expected. We worked mostly with Laurie and Cynthia. Laurie was our main contact, but because of the limited hours she worked, a lot of our correspondence was done through email or voicemail. Cynthia helped us with our ideas and contract in the absence of Laurie. Both were very friendly and courteous. They were very patient and flexible as it took us some time to come up with exactly what we wanted (we had a tendency to change our minds often!). Everything was on time and looked great. We were told by people who took the extra flowers home that they flowers lasted for quite a long time.

My flowers were just gorgeous. Conklyn's Florist did a great job with capturing my vision. As most of you I was looking on line for the perfect flower arrangements for my bridal party. Well Conklyn's help me realize that some of the flowers I chose where going to be way too expensive to obtain during October and I Thank them for that professionalism. I do think that the price was just a bit too steep and the fact that they have a shop in the Pentagon but don't offer military discounts for weddings kinda suck, but all in all a great provider.

I had a bunch of ideas and changes throughout my planning and Conklyns was able to adjust to each mind change I had! The prices werent bad, though I thought the bouquets could have been a tad bigger. Some of my emails took forever to be responded to, nevertheless I would still recommend Conklyns to anyone!

Very responsive and helpful. Nicole helped me with everything and was able to answer all my questions. When I first met with her I was set on the flowers I wanted then two months before the wedding I changed my mind and decided I wanted something completely different, but didnt have a clue what. She was patient with me and took the few things I said and turned it into exactly what I wanted! The ceremony was at our church and the reception was a few hours later at another location. Conklyns had everything delivered and setup on time at both locations.

Conklyn's created a gorgeous bridal bouquet of red roses and white calla lilies for our event. The bridesmaids bouquets and groom/groomsmen boutinerres were nice as well. The only issues I had with them was that it was really hard to get in contact with my representative. It took some time to receive a response via e-mail and over the phone was even worse. But overall, she was really nice and definitely flexible (because I made a lot of changes since I booked them so early). On the day of the ceremony they were supposed to put the bows on the pews but instead they just left the boxes at the church. My coordinator had to call them back out to put the bows on as they'd promised. Other than that, everything was just as it should've been.

My husband and I used very few flowers but were extremely happy with the ones we did get. The flowers were fresh but fully in bloom (not closed) and the cost was perfect! the delivered on time to our wedding location and were flexible when we weren't sure if they should deliver there or the hotel. worked out very nicely

I didn't have a huge budget for my flowers, but Conklyn's was able to work within it without difficulty. They didn't try to push for more expensive arrangements or get me to spend more than I could. They created beautiful boquets and boutonnieres for our wedding party, and while the reception arrangements were nothing out of this world, they were still quite beautiful.

My mom did most of the coordination with our florist. I was pretty hands-off with them, but I was pleased with the results. Our family has been using Conklyn’s for years, and I was glad to be able to use them for this. We only ordered ceremony flowers, and they were the most reasonable quote. (I still think they were pretty pricey, but all florists are around here!) My mom repeatedly said that Nicole was easy to work with and responsive.

They were very flexible, for example: we rented pillars for the ceremony arrangments, and had almost a full week to return them because Conklyn’s was not going to use them until the following weekend for the next set of weddings. I looked at some florists where the pillars or anything else rented needed to be returned by noon the following day.

We chose to use Conklyn's because of a family connection and were not disappointed. They worked really well with us and provided absolutely stunning bouquets and centerpieces for the reception. We wanted a wildflower look with bright colors and based on a few photographs we provided, they put together exactly the look we were going for -- even the guys liked their boutonnieres! My only complaint is that Cynthia could have been a bit more responsive and flexible, especially in the important few weeks right before the wedding.

when Our flowers came i wasnt really sure what they would look like, i wasnt given a "proof" they were very nice when they came. however we had flowers around the cake that when they came died really fast I feel like they should have told us they were going to die that quickly. But overall we were happy with them.

My review is overall poor due to a couple of things I did not like about the Florist:
1) the wholesale portion of the flowers I ordered were one day late. i did not receive a phone call apologizing, and in fact, I would have made an unnecessary trip to Alexandria to pick them up but I thought to call ahead and double check.
2) I ordered corsage pins and did not recieve them (we the corsages, etc from the wholesale flowers)
3) the contract I had mentioned specific flowers and colors and on the day of the wedding when I saw the bouquet that had been delivered, I was disappointed to find out that Conklyn's had substituted flowers. Normally this would not have been that big of deal, but on your wedding day, when you've taken the time to plan things out...it really does disappoint. Further, you have hundreds of pictures to remind you that there was a mistake. Not only were certain flower types substitute, the substituted flowers were not the color I wanted, so they were more apparent versus just blending in and filling the bouquet.
4) the anemones in the bouquet were discolored and looked like they were dying
Other than those couple disappointments, Conklyn's staff was friendly and Laurie was responsive and helpful in the meeting. The wholesale flower shop was a good deal and they were kind enough to let me pick up the wholesale portion of my order at the more convenient location to me.
Overall, I can recommend them (because the vast majority of the flowers were pretty), but I am disappointed with the changes they made, the late flower and the lack of communication to the customer, especially for the price!

This vendor is a bit overrated and I believe any florist could have done the work they did. The customer service was lackluster and I did not feel like their number one customer. At times it felt like I was bothering them when I requested samples or changes to my order. Their responsiveness was poor and I had to contact them twice to get a response to one of my revisions. They refused to meet with my coordinator without an extra charge and felt disrespected when I called to confirm my order a few weeks before the wedding. It wasnt till I expressed how anxious I was that they finally softened and treated me with a bit of respect and patience. The quality of the bouquets was good but the flowers for the corsages did not appear fresh and wilted before the ceremony event started.

At first, working with Conklyn's was fantastic. They e-mailed back immediately, and set up a time to meet. I met with the florist who would be in charge of our contract. She was fantastic. We went over every detail of the day, she helped me choose flowers, and showed me many pictures. I paid a deposit. Then the emails tapered a bit, but contracting so far out, I expected that. I got a call from my florist to let me know she was leaving the company, but had handed off my contract to someone else. this person never contacted me, and it took many emails for her to respond to me. She acted surprised when I wanted to go over the contract with her, and she was somewhat hesitant to do a mock up of anything. She did not care or ask about details of the day, and ended up sending the boutonnieres out on the truck the day of the wedding instead of with my planner for pictures. She had told the vendor this repeatedly. I also had to hound the florist to pay my final deposit. That all said, the flowers were beautiful, and the price was very reasonable.

I have to say that my flowers from Conklyn's were the most (and only) disappointing aspect of our wedding; this was extremely shocking given the rave reviews from other brides that I had read on this site. I am just thankful that we only really used them for the mass and the reception only depended on them showing up with bags of rose petals to throw on the tables. Considering the amount of money that my mother, a widow living on a fixed income, paid for the flowers, the final product that the florist delivered was absolutely unacceptable.

We didn't really encounter any issues with our planner, Nicole Morella, during the planning stages of our wedding. It took her a few days to return emails because she wasn't in-house at the florist most days of the week, but when she did get in contact (via email), she was professional and helpful.

The trouble came with the wedding itself. After two in-person meetings during which I showed Nicole numerous pictures of the colors we wanted and even spent time poring over her books to choose the right shade of flower for the bouquets, I expected that my bouquet and my bridesmaids bouquets would be the colors that we chose. I completely understand that seasonal issues occur and that particular varieties are not always available; however, I also expect my florist to be frank about this and not promise colors that (I guess?) are not possible to obtain. (Either that or the place is suggest a big business that they didn't really care how my flowers turned out). My colors were supposed to be a burnt orange and a deep blue - my bouquet would have had burnt orange calla lilies and my bridesmaids/flower girls would have burnt orange roses and lilies. Well, my bouquet had RED callas and my bridesmaids bouquets were PEACH. These colors were not only incorrect, they looked absolutely horrible together. I can even imagine a situation where flowers come in the wrong shade from the supplier, but shouldn't my florist, with whom I've been in contact for a year, be able to make a judgment call and do something so that the various bouquets in my wedding don't look like a clashing mix of Kool-Aid color varieties?

Not to mention, I took the trouble of spending time making an elaborate diagram of where I wanted pew bows and how many I would need - which were guaranteed in the contract along with setup. On the day of the wedding, my mother and her dear friends were busy putting the bows up by themselves (the florist had just tossed the bag in the corner to join the ones from the wedding the night before) and we were short about five pews on each side. Additionally, my husband's boutonnière FELL APART as they were pulling it out of a box. Of course, I was a happy bride and this irked me only for a few seconds, but now that the dust has settled, I am absolutely infuriated that my mother spent her hard-earned money on a product that was disappointing at best and incomplete at worst. (This is the only part of the wedding she paid for and she took a part time job in order to do so - awesome, Conklyns, thanks!)

If anyone gets married at St. Rita (Alexandria) in the future, don't let their wedding worksheet, which requires you to use Conklyns, sway you. Talk to the pastor (awesome guy) and let him know what a disaster this place is. My sister had a better experience ten years ago with our florist at the Giant.

Not all of the flowers we ordered showed up on the wedding day! The delivery person had no clue about our order, and no one answered my phone calls for help. My fiance and the best man had to scramble around town to make up for the lost flowers, and in the end it was an exact match. It was an embarrassment, because we had explained specific flowers' meanings in our printed programs. The flowers that did show up were pretty, but since it was my one wedding chance, I wish all of the flowers I had payed for and looked forward to had been there.
