Delicious Cake & Cupcakes
I first met the Confections of a Cake team at The Richmond Summer Weddings Expo at Main Street Station. They were so friendly and had yummy samples. We did a cake tasting with Ann and was able to try so many different combinations of flavors. We decided on a 2 tier cake Caribbean rum flavored cake and 5 different cupcake flavors. For a small fee they even did the special hydrangea piping on half the cupcakes. Our guests loved both cake and cupcakes! Highly recommend! -

Absolutely amazing experience from start to finish! The desserts for our wedding were incredible. We had a two-tiered cake and four flavors of cupcakes for our guests - each one incredible (especially the Caribbean rum)! Guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious everything was and how light and perfectly balanced the frosting tasted. We even had multiple out-of-town family members joke that we’ll need to have these cupcakes ready every time they come to visit. Highly recommend—truly helped make our wedding unforgettable! -

Amazing, Beautiful, and Tasty!
We got married this past March. We found out about Confections of a Cake through the Richmond Wedding Expo and set up a tasting. Let me tell you that our experience was absolutely seamless from start to finish. Ann was amazing to work with and so knowledgable. She was able to take our vision and make it come to life. Leading up to the wedding Ann made sure to check in with us and finalize any last minute questions or concerns that we had. On the wedding day they did an amazing job with setup and they even made sure to put aside some cupcakes for us (Bride and Groom) to make sure we got to enjoy some that evening. We have received so many compliments on our cake and cupcakes. They were so tasty! I would absolutely recommend Confections of a Cake to any couple looking for the best most beautiful cake for their big day! -

Confections of a Cake was so wonderful, and I enjoyed working with a small business that was local for us. We had a great 1 on 1 session to talk about cake design and flavors. Everything was so well done, and I have never had a better tasting cake. We were offered so many options, and Ann was amazing about any small detail. You could genuinely tell the ingredients for these cakes were either homemade or were considered carefully. One of my favorite things about Confections of a Cake is that they will make couples a cake for their one year anniversary. I am looking forward to tasting our wedding cake again, and I will gladly order more cakes from them in the future. -

Best Wedding Cake to Date
Delicious cake, big selection of flavors, fun tasting appointment, talented artist, icing filled cupcakes, beautiful presentation, detail oriented, vast experience, the list could go on!
Working with Confections of a Cake was an absolute joy. The flavors of cake and icing available are just incredible, it is so hard to narrow down the selection. I personally wanted a minimalist style cake but Ann (and her team) are so talented that they can absolutely make any intricate and elaborate cake you can dream up. They’ll send you a rendering of your design to sign off on before finalizing it all.
Allergies, cake structure, icing in humidity, and any other details sometimes forgotten are reviewed during the tasting and Ann really takes the time to make sure all I’s are dotted & t’s crossed when it comes to your cake. Included in the wedding cake package is a 1-year anniversary cake freshly baked for you & yours to enjoy so that you don’t have to worry about freezing the top tier or pretend like 1-year old cake still tastes good!
I strongly recommend working with Confections of a Cake. You will be so happy with the results and you will get to taste some of the best cake out there!

The best wedding cake ever!!
Ann was fantastic in helping us with picking out the right cake for us. She made the cake tasting fun and enjoyable. I had an idea of what I wanted the cake to look like and we went from there. She took the colors from the wedding for some accents for the cake plus flowers for the topper. The buttercream icing was amazing and the cake was incredible!! -

Our wedding cake turned out SO GREAT! The taste, texture, and design of the cake were spot on. We got two flavors – tiramisu and pineapple rum cake with cream cheese icing and they were SOOO GOOD! Cake was moist, flavors were irresistible once you took a bite, and Ann did not skimp on the buttercream 😊 Ann is incredibly professional and leaves no detail undiscussed. She set up an appointment with us to do a tasting as well as go over the design of the cake and logistics. My husband and I wasn’t thinking much about the design or flavors and she patiently gave us plenty of ideas to start from. We were able to design the cake we wanted because of her! I absolutely love wedding cake and it is one of my favorite parts of a wedding, whereas my husband does NOT like wedding cake – I can tell you he loved our cake so much that he was eating our leftover wedding for up to two weeks after our wedding (I was too bc who doesn’t want cake?!)! -

Our dream wedding cake!
We met with Ann for our consult and she was wonderful. She was responsive and interested in our ideas in how to make perfect cake we wanted for our wedding, and confirmed any allergies. My husband and I knew that day we had found the perfect people to make our cake and booked immediately. We exchanged emails the next few weeks and the replies were always quick. We made a few edits to the original 3 designs Ann and Norma drew up for us, and it went without a hitch. We opted for 3 layers with each layer being a different flavor & filling. The day of our wedding, they dropped off and set up the cake perfectly and we didn’t worry about a thing. Our guests loved the cake and we barely had any leftovers once the night was through. We went with lemon cake & lemon curd, carrot cake & cream cheese filling, and rum cake & cookie butter filling for our flavors and each one was soooo delicious. We can’t wait for our anniversary cake with them! -

Confections of a Cake made us 3 separate cakes, with a total of 4 flavors, for our wedding reception. During our tasting, we couldn’t decide on just one because all of the samples were delicious! Ann was so helpful, open to our design changes throughout our engagement, and made sure everything was exactly what we envisioned! The Swiss meringue buttercream was perfect for us, and the variety of flavors gave all of our guests something to enjoy. We ended up having leftover cake to save to celebrate our next milestones in our upcoming journey as husband and wife! We look forward to working with Confections of a Cake again! -

Ann at Confections of a Cake was our baker for our 5/22/21 wedding. I first met with Ann just a month before our wedding. I had previously decided to go with a different well known bakery in the Richmond, VA area but at the last minute they stopped communicating with me. I was in a panic trying to find another baker. Several people on Facebook recommended Confections of a Cake. When I contacted Ann, she replied back to me within minutes and we set up a time for a tasting that week. All the flavors were absolutely delicious. I was so excited and relieved to have found Ann! She was affordable and reliable. She delivered the cake and cupcakes on the day of the wedding and coordinated with the florist to make sure flowers were placed on the cake correctly. She even brought her own greenery to put on the cake! Since the wedding, I have already referred several people to Ann via facebook. 100% recommend Ann and Confections of a Cake! -

I met Anne at a bridal show and was blown away by their brown butter cake sample. I am not a sweets person but the brown butter cake was absolutely delicious and from that sample on I knew they would be our cake vendor. Ann has been so amazing since the moment we met her. She was extremely flexible to schedule a tasting with. ALL of her cakes, fillings, and frosting were AMAZING (homemade also!) We were so confident in her, we actually chose a flavor we hadn't tried before from her for our top tier. Aside from marrying the love my life, it is safe to say the cake was my second favorite thing about our wedding. I actually had 3 pieces all to myself, because i couldn't get enough.
Not only do her cakes taste amazing, but Ann is super creative and extremely professional! I would recommend Ann 1000x again! -

Everything was perfect!
Ann and her staff took the time to make sure our cupcakes were perfect. We had 6 different flavors and everyone still argues which was the best. I think it was the brown bourbon butter cake. Her prices are very reasonable, including set up and delivery. She also made sure to take precautions (during COVID) and called to check in on us. -

I met Ann and her team at the Richmond Wedding Expo. I booked a cake tasting with her that day solely based on the taste of her almond cake! She drove to a location of my choosing prepared with dishes and silverware for a very professional tasting! She was very open to exactly what I was looking for and even made suggestions and offers for using flowers on my cake. She persuaded us into getting cupcakes along with our two layer cake. LET ME TELL YOU THOSE CUPCAKES DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Even after the wedding (where cakes usually sit out) nothing was dry! The cake was so moist FOR THE NEXT WEEK! Her buttercream frosting is so light! She uses all the freshest ingredients and you can tell the time and love she puts into her work! I had no issues with Ann. They were very easy and quick to get ahold of! She called me a few days before the wedding to make sure all the details where still right (specially since we were a COVID wedding). She delivered to my location and both my venue and Ann herself said there were no problems and everything went smoothly. This is my go to lady now! Birthdays, showers, weddings, recommendations. You name it! -

Best Cake Ever!
We absolutely loved our wedding cake!! Not to mention the cupcakes! Each flavor was beautifully delicious. We chose amaretto almond, marbled cake, and cookies n’ cream for our wedding cake. For our cupcakes we chose brown butter and chocolate. Our cake was gone before we knew it! Guest raved about it! Luckily we both had a slice beforehand. Working with Ann from Confections of a Cake was great! She was very responsive over email and professional. In the weeks/days leading up the wedding she was very organized and worked out the final details for delivery with my venue contact with my needing to be involved. We met Ann at a convention but it was though she found us! She was perfect! She came to our home without payment or expectations. We tasted everything and truly loved them all we couldn’t make a decision! We knew almost immediately that she was perfect! She did our grooms cake as an Xbox controller with “game over”- it was exactly what we wanted and really made the night of the Rehearsal- it tasted 💯!!
Our wedding cake was beautiful! I handed her the flowers (she met us !!) and we didn’t have enough. She said she knew what to do and pulled it off!

In Brief:
I used Confections of a Cake for my wedding, and I cannot recommend Ann and her team enough! Ann is truly a master of her craft and working with her was an absolute pleasure.
The Complete Experience:
At the insistence of one of my friends, I attended the Richmond Wedding Expo. I already had my mind set on one of my favorite local bakeries; however, I found their samples to be very disappointing. After sampling all of the other dessert vendors at the expo, I stumbled on a final cake booth – Confections of a Cake. There were two flavors left – chocolate and key lime. At this point, the idea of sampling more sweets was very unappealing, but since key lime pie is one of my favorite desserts, my curiosity got the best of me. I asked my mom to split one with me which immediately led me to ask her to split the chocolate and then for us both to grab our own individual samples. Ann's cupcakes tasted like they had just been made. They were moist and balanced with rich, complex flavors. I immediately went home and told my fiancé I'd found our cake vendor.
Ann has a very extensive list of cake flavors, fillings and icings. When I reached out to her to set up a tasting, I selected a few options from her list and mentioned that we had our heart set on a couple of additional flavors/combos that were not listed. Fast forward to the tasting, Ann immediately put us at ease when we arrived to her house (complete with a separate commercial kitchen area). On top of being a true professional and an amazing baker, she is a genuinely warm and lovely person with a passion for her trade. Ann talked us through the options she offered and showed us examples of her work before starting us off on the tasting. She prepared several mini cakes with different fillings and icings, including several of the custom flavors I’d previously mentioned. All were delicious, and my fiancé and I surprised ourselves by picking out a couple of flavors that weren't on our initial list but were too good to pass up. Ann helped us determine what we wanted/needed and sent us home the rest of our samples, a promise to follow up with a quote and a sketch of the cake and advice to shop around before making a final decision.
As soon as we left, we knew that last part wouldn't be necessary. We quickly contracted with Ann to provide a 6" cutting cake with sugar flowers and 8 dozen assorted cupcakes. When we had our final call before the wedding, I felt like I was talking to a friend. I was super stressed, and talking to Ann immediately made me feel better. She let me know when she planned to arrive, assured me that she would set everything up in the very specific manner requested (I opted to provide my own platters and stands and sent Ann photos of how I wanted the cupcakes arranged), and reminded me to breath and enjoy my day.
The execution on my wedding day was flawless. Setup was exactly as requested, and the cake and cupcakes were delicious. Several guests commented on the amazing cupcakes and asked where they came from, and I saw several tables divvying them up to ensure they got to try all of the different flavors. The following day, my mom brought over our leftovers, and I invited her to have a piece of cake with me. I don't know how, but I think it was even better the next day. Following our initial slices, my mom said she thought it was the best cake she had every had, and we were reduced to eating the cake straight out of the box. All I can say is thank you, Ann! We are already looking forward to our anniversary cake. -

Simply amazing
Ann is incredible. She is spunky, personable, honest and her cakes are absolutely delicious! She is super easy to work with and cares about her clients. We ordered a carrot cake cutting cake and assorted cupcakes (chocolate, caramel and cookie butter). She holds her cakes to such a high standard that she makes you a cake top for your first anniversary because she refuses to allow her clients to freeze her cake and take the chance it loses its deliciousness! I would recommend just her personality and thoughtfulness alone, but her cakes are just the icing on top because they are SO INCREDIBLE. -

While at the expo Ann not only allowed my husband to eat about 50 of her samples but each time he came to the table she received him with a welcoming smile. She came to our house for our tasting with three cakes( Italian Rum, lemon and strawberry). During our cake tasting Ann took the time to get to know us as a couple. We ordered a 4 tier 4 flavor cake ( Lemon, Vanilla, Italian Rum, and Key Lime) with 150 cupcakes. During the year of our engagement my Father- In Law passed and Ann took the time to called and emailed us to give her condolences and check on us. This meant the world to my husband that she remembered information from a brief talk during our tasting. We appreciate how she went above and beyond more then she knows.
On our wedding day Ann delivered our cake, placed our cake topper on and left our cake looking magical. Our guest absolutely loved the flavors of the cake and thought it looked amazing. There was not one piece of cake left over at the end of the night. Although we didn't get a piece of our wedding cake the pure satisfaction of knowing that our guest truly enjoyed it was enough. Will will be ordering more cake before our one year anniversary.

They were very prompt with responding to my initial inquiry and very flexible with being able to schedule a tasting. They were able to sit with my family and really listen to what we wanted and bring our vision to life. While every cake provided at the tasting was delicious. We decided to go with amaretto cake with buttercream icing. It was a huge hit at our wedding. We didn’t have any cake left at the end of the night. They delivered the cake to our venue on time and made sure the topper was secure and in place before leaving. Did I mention that our cake was absolutely gorgeous? Thank You to Confections Of A Cake for adding that special touch to our wedding day. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Harley Sent on 02/02/2018We had the best experience! Ann was such a pleasure to work with. She came to us to do cake tasting and didn't mind my sister and 3 young kids joining us. Accommodating with flavor options. Stayed in touch through out the who process. Delivered and staged the cake beautifully. Stopped by to give well wishes. The cakes were delicious!!! Can't wait for our 1 year anniversary cake!!!

We enjoyed working with Ann. Our tasting was very thorough and she answered any questions we had. She was also able to show us demonstrations (in person and a digital picture) of how our cake would look. She captured our vision perfectly. She made us a bourbon brown sugar cake with bourbon cream cheese and a red velvet cake with raspberry filling. If I could do it again, I would opt out of the raspberry filling, it made the cake taste more fruity than velvety...like fruity pebbles. Either way, both cakes were delicious and our guests enjoyed it.
