For those of you not interested in a long review here it is: Kate is not only an incredible person but a wonderful and talented photographer. She captures the true essence of the moment to allow us to have memories of the best day of our life. For those of you (like me) who enjoy longer detailed reviews, below is an in depth of my experience with Kate.
Kate is absolutely incredible in every aspect of her photography. Starting with what an amazing woman she is. She has such a huge heart and by the end of our elopement she felt like family. She is raw with her emotion, open with communication, easy going, flexible, loving of nature and mountains, and respectful of us and our wishes. Kate is someone very special and I felt lucky to have had her as our only witness to our marriage.
Kate was recommended to me by a friend, and I am so thankful to have been given that recommendation. I followed along with her blog and Instagram account before reaching out. I could see in every photograph that she captures the true reflection of each couple and capturing the intimate moments that the couple experienced. My first chat with her on the phone and I felt like I was chatting with an old friend and her excitement in our love story and our elopement plan was nearly as high as mine!
When we booked with Kate, we didn’t know exactly the plan for our elopement. We had a date and a general location but that was about it. Kate checked in often to see if we needed anything and tried to get a general idea of a plan and help me with any details I may have needed help with. I bugged her about silly things, and she always was quick to respond and so kind in her messages. As the winter and spring wore on and the San Juan Mountains got more and more snow (snow above 1000% normal snow pack at times) and avalanches, our plans were even further from being determined. Kate offered to let us move our elopement date, but we were determined to make something work because the area is so beautiful regardless. Plans were not finalized until less than 24 hours in advance, when my husband and I were able to scope out our planned location with a Plan B and C in mind. We met with Kate the evening prior and went over plans and she was able to just work with everything we gave her and improvise along with us.
My now husband was a bit apprehensive of having a photographer for the elopement. In Colorado we can self-proclaim our marriage and he was worried a photographer might take away from our day. I can tell you that was absolutely NOT the case with Kate. Kate not only made the day about the two of us but she helped us to slow down and enjoy the moments, enjoy each other and the nature and mountains surrounding us. She helped us to take it all in and reminisce on our journey. Kate helped us to have the most magical and inspiring day. Our day was better than we could have ever dreamed and that is, in part, due to Kate; she captured moments and memories we will never forget. Now we can share these memories with our friends and family.
Kate was a trooper, hiking with us through avalanche debris fields and bushwhacking through brush to my husbands secret location he had picked out. (We had feared we would not be able to get to this location but it worked out, we just were unable to rent an RZR and drive the alpine loop post elopement due to the avalanches). We received our sneak peak photos so quickly and I was so thankful to share with family since my husband and I had taken no photos throughout the day. We also received our full gallery quickly and the photographs are everything I had imagined and so much more.
The photographs are just all so incredible. She captured each moment throughout the day that we will be able look back on forever. She captured our love for each other and those moments we care for each other. There is a look that my husband gives me and Kate captured that in so many of the photos. I have been asked what are my top 5 favorites, and I cant say I can even narrow down my top 20. We loved Kates energy and her love for the mountains we adored so much. We loved that she allowed us to have the day as we dreamed and we never felt any pressure or stress from her or anything else that day (besides maybe the rain). If you are thinking about eloping, having an intimate wedding or having a wedding you should have Kate their to capture your day!

An afternoon with Kate and the Mountains.
Everything about Kate is fabulous! She has a real eye for capturing beautiful pictures in the outdoors and is really just an all around great person to hang out with. She made us feel more comfortable than I could have ever imagined and the photos she captured are simply amazing. -

Kate was a dream come true! We found Kate searching Instagram hashtags and we instantly fell in love with her fun, quirky photography style. Kate's style embodies the joy and love of the day and all of the pictures captured pure happiness. Our photos were stunning and even more beautiful than I ever imagined. Kate was a star from the start - she was spot on with her communication via phone call, email, and text and she was so helpful during the planning process by recommending vendors or thoughts to make the day go well. I was so impressed with her leading up to our wedding, but our wedding day was even more impressive. She was so kind, funny, and helpful throughout the day. She laughed with me and kept me calm and happy throughout the entire day. I can't tell you how many times she asked if she could do something like buckle my shoes, bustle my dress, get me a glass of wine, or just joke around if I was stressed. Kate is nothing but AMAZING and I would recommend her to anyone - you will not be disappointed, but rather blown away by her stunning photography and bubbly personality. -

Kate not only captured the true essence of our wedding & our love for each other but she also made us feel like we were one of a kind. From our first meeting with Kate, we already felt like we were friends which made us standing there taking photos much much easier (no one tells you how awkward it is!). Kate was open to any and all of our ideas, encouraging us when we wanted to do something outside the box and giving advice when we couldn't make up our minds. I would recommend Kate to anyone and everyone who wants the natural beauty of their wedding to be remembered forever through her camera. -

Choose Colorado Kate Photography!
We are so happy that we chose Colorado Kate Photography to capture such a special and exciting time in our lives. Finding a talented photographer for our wedding was one of our number one priorities, so that we could always relive that day through photos that captured the true essence of each moment. When I came across Colorado Kate Photography’s work, I could see that she knew how to do just that. After talking to Kate and deciding that we wanted to do an engagement session as well, she mentioned that she would be visiting the Maroon Bells with her family and that we could meet her there for our session if we liked. The Maroon Bells are somewhere that my now husband and I had tried and failed to make it to numerous times, and so we jumped at the opportunity. Kate interrupted her family vacation and woke up while the sky was still filled with stars to make those photos happen. This is just one example of how she goes above and beyond for her clients. We had so much fun exploring the Bells with her that sometimes we even forgot that we were there to take photos. The end result was a gorgeous collection of photos filled with color and life. Despite neither of us being particularly comfortable in front of the camera, none of them looked awkward or posed. Kate just let us do our thing and captured our natural selves.
After our engagement session, we knew we were in good hands for our wedding. Kate touched base with us several times before the wedding to make sure we had everything we needed and met with us to discuss logistics for the day-of in detail, something we really appreciated. During the wedding, Kate and her second shooter, Heather, were so fun and easy to work with. Several of my bridesmaids even mentioned how comfortable they made them feel in front of the camera. Kate sent us a sneak peek the VERY NEXT DAY, which was such a wonderful and unexpected surprise. She was very timely in getting our full gallery to us, and we are absolutely in love with the results. She captured our day just as we knew she would – no awkward poses, just my husband and I and our family and friends being themselves.
Working with Kate has been such a blast, and the results have been nothing less than stunning. Colorado Kate Photography truly cares about her clients, something that is apparent in all of her work. Thank you Kate, for sharing your talent with us! -

Colorado Kate is AMAZING!!!
We had our wedding in June of this year, 2019, in Colorado Springs at Wedgewood Black Forest. It was an amazing day and we could not have captured our memories or had such a wonderful experiences without our photographer, Colorado Kate! I found Kate through Instagram and it most definitely has proven to be one of the absolute best connections I ever made through social media. When I scrolled her photos, I felt a connection to the natural aspects she effortlessly snaps just at the right time. But the real confirmation in choosing her as our photographer came when we spoke on the phone and I felt like I was talking to my old friend...completely comfortable and I immediately knew we were in good hands. When we met her for our engagement session we had such a blast. It was freezing outside, but beautiful, and she was totally dedicated to giving us an amazing session; ALL IN! I felt completely taken care through the entire process. She made sure to get all of the information she needed from me and offered support and suggestions that I would not have thought of otherwise. On top of it all, her personality rocks!!! She is so funny and light hearted but never misses a beat with her work. The photos are incredible, crisp, and carry the fabulous vibe in them that we had through our whole event. We are a relaxed crowd and I feel like our photos reflect who we are which is special to me. She is the real deal...I never even had to think twice about how the photography would go, or the end results. It was a HUGE stress relief to have her as our photographer. It is an important job, to me it is the most important part of the wedding, and she carries that weight easily. Kate also had a second photographer with her for our event and they were a dynamic duo. I am so grateful for them both and the AMAZING photos that we will have forever to reflect on and relive the memories with. Super stoked with choosing Colorado Kate Photography!!! -

I just need to say, Kate Davis is one of my favorite people ever! She shot my husband and I’s wedding on June 2, 2019 and she went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. Throughout the wedding planning process, Kate was such a joy to work with; I honestly got so excited every time we met with her. She made my husband and I feel so special and important; she authentically listened to our wants, needs, and concerns and followed through on them all; she is innovative and puts her whole heart into everything; and she was on top of everything, organized and a team player. Her outgoing personality, wholehearted dedication and excitement for her clients and photography, and talent are just some of the reasons of why we chose her as our wedding photographer. The photos that she took of our wedding are extraordinary. We have been married for a little over two months now, and I am not kidding when I say I have not failed to look at them at least once every week. She did such an amazing job capturing all of the big important moments but also the smaller ones that we would’ve forgotten if it wasn’t for her. The way in which she edited the photos is purely beautiful; these photos are timeless and when I look at them 50 years from now, I will still be as in love with the photos as I am now. The morning after our wedding, she sent at least 12 photos, which was the best! And when it came time to give us all our photos (it was a very fast turn around), she took the time to FaceTime us to go over our pictures with us and she even made a little highlight video! She is so intentional and it was very clear that she put in countless hours and so much love and care into our photos. I am sad our wedding is over because I truly miss working with Kate. She was such a blessing throughout the planning process as well as on the day of the wedding. I can without a doubt say she was one of our greatest finds and one of the best parts of our wedding. -

Sarah Sent on 02/01/2019The best wedding decision I made (besides my hubby)
Kate was the best decision we made for our wedding! As a professional photographer myself, photos were the MOST important part of our day (besides getting hitched, hello). I was nervous about choosing a photographer who matched my own style and personality, but after I saw Kate's gorgeous, natural editing and emotional photographs, and spoke with her on the phone for probably close to an hour, I knew I had to have her on my wedding day. I didn't even nail down a date until I knew Kate was available. At our engagement session, she made us so comfortable, and my now husband had FUN the entire time!! On our wedding day, she felt like a best friend who was always in the perfect place to capture the important parts. She worked so well with her second shooter (who was GREAT too) and all my other vendors! Kate was so encouraging and went with the flow of everything, and she made me feel BEAUTIFUL (I had a moment where I complained about having to wear makeup, DON'T JUDGE, you'll have some sort of weird moment on your day too!). She was so passionate and excited about our love and creating art with it. Her turn-around time was quick, and the amount and the quality of the photos we received was just perfect. I would choose her again and again for our wedding. You should do the same. -

We LOVE Colorado Kate Photography!
My husband (Ryan) and I got married August 19th, 2018 up at Timber Ridge in Keystone Colorado. A place that is so incredibly special to us we knew we would need someone special as our photographer. Someone who could capture and appreciate all the beauty this place had to offer. We were looking for a photographer that was willing to go on an adventure with us up to 11,444 ft above sea level (two gondola rides), make that extra effort to get the amazing angle and to have a positive uplifting energy that would make it all fun. We knew Kate was the photographer we were looking for! My husband and I are not the posing for photos type of couple, most of our go to pics are goofy, jumping in the air photos so the thought of having to pose on an assembly line with all our bridal party, family and friends was kind of pain point in the wedding planning process. Luckily, Kate asked us for list of photos we would want to look back on in 50+ years, she didn’t just want to shoot the basic boring photo ops that no one ever looks at years later. Ryan and I sat down, hammered out a list and passed it on to Kate. Day of the wedding we honestly forgot we gave Kate and her assistant a list, everything was so fluid and natural and FUN! We got the photos we asked for plus our favorites of all the candid not posed photos of us and everyone that attended the wedding. One of my absolute favorite photos (posted below) is one of Ryan jumping off a log messing around before the wedding. Like come on, the talent and attention to detail to capture this photo is unreal! When I think back to that day, I can still hear all of us laughing and just having a good time being us. Nothing was forced, just doing what we do normally was encouraged. One of the biggest qualities of Kate, is the TRUST we had in her. Throughout the day, I never had to worry that this or that was being captured. Kate and her assistant were on it! To this day, my Nana tears up when she looks at a photo Kate took of her and myself right at that golden sunset hour. I was in the middle of the dancefloor busting some moves with my hubs, champagne in hand not thinking about the time when Kate whispered in my ear “Can I borrow you for one second?”. Kate remembered that I wanted to get a photo of with my Nana and this was the perfect time! After Kate took our photo, my Nana started crying. She was beyond ‘tickled’ that photo was taken, and it truly made her feel so special. I cannot thank Kate enough for that moment, I will have that photo forever. Ryan and I are thrilled with how all the photos turned out and the outpouring compliments from everyone really validated we picked the best photographer for our wedding. We are forever grateful for Kate’s talented photography skills and will continue to use her as our family grows!

Kate is amazing!
Kate was by far one of our favorite vendors we had worked with for our wedding. From my first interaction with her over the phone I had a good feeling which was immediately validated when we met her in person.
She was responsive, creative, flexible, and so easy to work with. She made us feel comfortable and our engagement photos as well as wedding photos turned out amazing. She is great at capturing candid moments showing the true emotion our day.
Everyone in our wedding party and a lot of our guests followed up with us after the wedding to let us know how great they thought she was and about positive interactions they had with her throughout the day/night.
We honestly could not be happier with our decision to work with Kate and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer! -

Amazing! We love Kate!
Kate is absolutely incredible to work with from start to finish! My husband and I got married last summer, 2018, and could not be happier and more grateful to have had Kate! She is always organized and professional, yet fun and made us feel so comfortable!
The photos she took for our engagement and wedding seriously look like they are ads from magazines! Soo romantic and priceless. The morning after our wedding, before my husband and I even woke up, we had a least 10 edited photos already to enjoy!
We could go on and on about how amazing Kate is, all around. We will absolutely choose her every time for sessions in the future!!!!! -
