    Colonial Hall - Great Salem Wedding Venue

    Michelle Minasian and Ricky Egan were fantastic event coordinators for my wedding planning last year. I appreciated the level of detail we covered - I knew I wouldn't have to remember everything, because they would! They were also super attentive and helpful and made all the planning and logistics a breeze to navigate. Our wedding ended up being super fun and relaxed, and I didn't have to worry about a thing - I was able to just enjoy my night, which is the best thing a bride could ask for! Thanks to both of them for helping make our day so memorable!

    Our wedding in Salem’s best venue

    Working with Colonial Hall’s Michelle M. was like having our wedding planned with a dear friend of the family. She was professional, responsive, and honest. Due to the pandemic, we had to switch our date 2 times. Michelle calmly helped us navigate this process with great care. When we finally got to our wedding. it was the best party of the year. My family still talks about that day. The food, drinks, and staff were amazing. My husband and I had a brilliant time exchanging vows and making cherished memories with our loved ones. It was worth the wait. We returned to Rockafellas on our first anniversary last Sunday. We were greeted by the staff with the same warmth we encountered with Michelle. To top it off, the manager stopped by with well wishes and two complimentary glasses of champagne. I would highly recommend Colonial Hall to any newly engaged couple.

    Colonial Hall was our dream venue

    I cannot say enough good things about Colonial Hall. All of our dreams were surpassed and our guests are still raving about our wedding to this day. The food was amazing, décor was perfect, staff was so helpful, atmosphere was romantic and the coordination was extremely helpful. We stayed at the hotel Salem with our whole wedding party and had our rehearsal dinner right in Rocakfellas! It was a perfect weekend that we will never forget!

    Beautiful colonial venue with amazing staff

    We are so happy that we chose Colonial Hall for our wedding reception venue. Michelle, Lisa and their team did an amazing job bringing our dream wedding to life. Our guests raved about how delicious the food was and how seamlessly the evening was run.

    Hidden Gem! Amazing Food!

    We had our June 29th Wedding reception at Colonial Hall. We have nothing but amazing things to say about our experience of working with them. Their staff and coordinator (Michelle) are wonderful and took the time to make sure that everything was perfect. This venue is truly a hidden gem. The high ceilings, dark wood, gorgeous staircase and windows and the bridal and groom suites make for beautiful photos. Our wedding was 1920's themed and the venue fit it perfectly. We received many compliments from our family and friends of how beautiful the venue was. AND. THE. FOOD! so many of our guests raved about the food and how it was the best they've ever had! This venue and staff are one of a kind and we recommend them wholeheartedly!

    Colonial Hall was amazing for our wedding. Everything was perfect. I cannot thank Michelle enough for everything she did. She is so great at what she does and is very familiar with all vendors in the area, so she can help make great suggestions. Michelle is great at responding to emails (and at all hours!) and making sure everything goes smoothly the day of. I would have our wedding at Colonial Hall again in a heartbeat. Also, the food is amazing. As many other people have written, guests at our wedding said it was the best food at a wedding they'd ever had!

    We had our wedding celebration at the Colonial Hall in Salem and it was absolutely fantastic! Kelly was our contact, and she made sure all our questions were answered quickly and also made sure our every special request was accommodated. We couldn't have asked for a better venue! The space is gorgeous and the food was delicious! Thanks to Kelly and Michelle, our event went very smoothly, and everyone had a great time. We would highly recommend Colonial Hall for any special event. Thank you for making our night so special! J+C

    We are excited to share our wonderful experience with Colonial Hall. We held our wedding reception here earlier this month (11/2017) and could not have been more please with how everything turned out. We had ~125 guests which allowed for ample space for seating (and dancing!). The venue itself was beautiful and the team who helped decorate and set up made it look even better. The cocktail hour on the balcony provided the opportunity to mingle with guests while looking down on the bandstand and seating area. Compliments to the chef - the food was amazing. Our guests raved about the appetizers and dessert especially. Also, compliments to the bartender for helping craft a signature cocktail for the evening. Above all we would like to give credit and thanks to Kelly and Michelle for helping to make this such a wonderful experience. From the start they both were instrumental in helping execute what we wanted. In particular, Kelly was very thoughtful in trying to make this night about "us."

    We would recommend Colonial Hall in a heartbeat.

    My husband and I very recently had our wedding here and we can not say enough good things about this place. First this place is everything we imagined for our wedding with the old time Salem feel and look to it. Plus the food was absolutely amazing! We highly suggest getting the mini chicken and waffles as an appetizer, it was everyone's favorite thing of the night! Michelle and her staff were like a well oiled machine. They were there to answer every question and give us guidance on things we were unsure of. We were never made to feel like we were bothering anyone any time we reached out for an answer! If you want to get married or have an event in Salem we would definitely recommend them!

    I would definitely recommend this venue! everyone was super accommodating and let me customize anything in order to make my day truly special. I would love to especially point out Michelle who was the coordinator at colonial hall. She was great with letting me know when I needed to make certain decisions and she was just great and organized and super helpful. One thing that really helped the most was being able to visit the venue several times on the days leading up to the wedding. The hall didn't have another event booked during the week so I came in on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday prior to my saturday wedding. This was great so I didn't feel rushed or forget anything while setting up. Also Michelle was there with me setting up as well, which made things run much smoother. I do not have one complaint!

    We had our wedding reception in the venue of our dreams! We could not wait for all of our family and friends to see this beautiful venue in Salem! With high ceilings, a stunning chandelier and hardwood floors, this venue sparkled! I work in luxury hotels and the service from Michelle, our coordinator and her team was five-stars. Michelle was always available when we had questions and the manager, Dave was also very helpful and kind. The food was amazing! We received so much positive feedback from guests, everything came out hot, fresh and all together. The setting was so beautiful from the chiavari chairs, the satin linen on the tables, the large window at the top of the staircase, the bridal suite, I could go on and on. I have pictures that I will treasure forever with the backdrop of Colonial Hall! We are just so grateful for such a wonderful experience on our wedding day!

    Colonial Hall was the best decision we made with our wedding. We looked at 10-15 venues and had initially narrowed it down to Colonial Hall, Peabody Essex Museum or Sapphire Estate. Colonial Hall was more affordable, flexible and service oriented than PEM (they literally offer nothing except the venue). We had a tasting at Sapphire and Colonial Hall and Colonial Hall won HANDS DOWN. My standards for "wedding food" is low so it is pretty easy for food to be "good" at a wedding. But their food was restaurant quality - we had a surf and turf dish (something customized that wasn't on their standard menu) and people gave us amazing compliments on it. It is the caliber of food I would expect in an expensive/fancy restaurant. But as beautiful as the hall is and as amazing as the food was, the thing that makes Colonial hall the best choice is the level of service and flexibility. Anything we wanted, they found a way to make happen (and with a smile). We wanted a Maine beer tasting at cocktail hour and they delivered (and it was good beers - the ones my husband requested)! The night before, I went to look at the setup and the napkins were ivory instead of sage green, I texted our wedding coordinator and she said "no problem, I'll change them" - when I checked my emails I had said Ivory so I was in the wrong but it didn't matter, it was fixed. But the best part is that on my wedding day, I did nothing - they coordinated all vendors, when I walked in, everything was perfect!

    I cannot believe what an amazing wedding I was able to have at Colonial Hall without totally destroying my budget. First of all, the space is so naturally beautiful and amazing that it is the perfect blank slate to work with. They provide you will tables at chiavari chairs and during the planning process you can select your linens. The food at Colonial Hall is AMAZING and the tasting they arrange is really helpful. They serve amazing passed hor d'oevres (tons of hot and cold options) and a really classy seated dinner. What's also great is that their dinner comes with dessert so even if your guests don't want to eat wedding cake, there will be something to satisfy your sweet tooth. Our wedding coordinator, Michelle, really knows the event planning business and did so much of the heavy lifting for us. The actual wedding day went by so seamlessly that I wasn't stressed at all! The managers and waitstaff at Colonial Hall are attentive and upbeat-- you really can't go wrong. This has to be the best place in Salem to get married!

    We were recently married at Colonial Hall and couldn't be more happy with our choice. The hall was absolutely gorgeous, the food out of this world, and the staff absolutely amazing. We knew from the moment we saw it that this was the place. Throughout the entire planning process we were treated wonderfully, our questions answered promptly, no matter what they were, and made to feel like everything was going to be perfect, and it absolutely was. Thank you to the wedding coordinators we had for all their help, taking care of us all along the way, and most importantly on our actual day, where we didn't have to worry about a thing, and thank you to the chef for the most amazing food ever. We are so appreciative of everything and are so happy we chose you!

    We had such an amazing night, in such an amazing venue. The food, the staff and location could not have been better! Leanne was sooooooooo helpful, kind, and understanding and I could not have asked for anyone better to help out!

    She thought of every detail, and was so flexible to allow us to make our wedding about us, and change things around.

    The food was absolutely amazing, we are still getting compliments about how great the food was.

    Overall I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a wedding location or for any other event- the team was so helpful.

    Amazing venue! The staff was incredible to work with and i couldn't have been more pleased with the value. After looking at many historic venues Colonal Hall was a true find! Michelle was truly an amazing coordinator and the food was raved about! Perfect venue for my perfect day!

    Colonial Hall is a gorgeous venue that far surpasses any other function hall in historic Salem, MA. When looking for the perfect venue, you look for a few things: location, staff, food, reasonable pricing, atmosphere, décor and acoustics. Colonial Hall has all of that and so much more! From the entrance, through the main function hall, up the grand staircase and into the quaint bride and groom preparation suites, Colonial Hall is stunning. It can be a blank slate for brides (like me) who love to decorate or it can simply stay as is with its ornate banisters, large windows and art-deco chandelier. Acoustics are amazing – perfect for a band or a DJ. The food is out of this world! Three months later I still have guests raving to me about it. And with the extensive entrée and hors d'oeuvres selections, including several vegetarian options, everyone will find something they love at Colonial Hall. Just a hint: The chocolate bread pudding is sinful. I really don’t think a bride has eaten more at her wedding! But what really makes Colonial Hall unique is the excellent staff. My husband and I were provided with our own server who made sure we were able to try everything we wanted and always had a glass in our hands. It was like magic! The same kind of service was given to all of our guests making them feel like the VIPs they are. Leanne, the function coordinator, was my wonderful fairy godmother throughout the entire process. Whatever question I had, she was always prepared with an answer. Every email I sent was responded to quickly and any request I had was fulfilled. There were more than a few unexpected issues that came up during the event but without batting an eyelash she swept in to the save the day. Amazing! She is a real gem and it was such a pleasure to work with her. I would like to thank all of the staff at Colonial Hall for giving us the wedding of our dreams. It is certainly a day my husband and I will remember fondly for the rest of our lives.

    I cannot express enough how wonderful Michelle and the entire team at Colonial Hall at Rockafellas was throughout the entire experience. Our expectations were surpassed in every way. Our guests were truly delighted with the wonderful food and outstanding service they received.

    Thank you so much again and I would highly recommend this location to any engaged couple!

    Like the previous reviewer, I too was notified about 2 months before our wedding that Colonial Hall would be changing the wedding coordinator. My husband and I experienced similar issues with the previous coordinator, and were a little leery at first, but were thrilled to meet Michelle, our new coordinator, who really knew her stuff and made us feel so comfortable. We instantly knew that we were going to be in good hands.
    Michelle was SUPER accommodating and always responded to emails very quickly and was so helpful in figuring out the day-of logistics. I made all of my centerpieces myself, and we were able to drop off all of the decor items on the Thursday before our wedding (our wedding was also in the off-season (December) which helped). I gave them some guidelines for my vision, and they really ran with it and made it so much more stunning than I could have hoped for!
    In terms of the actual wedding day, I was beyond thrilled with the service. As soon as I walked in, Michelle offered me a glass of wine, and when I came out of the bathroom, Cheryl was standing there with my drink ready for me! She also brought some hors d'oeuvres into the bridal suite which was amazing because otherwise I probably would not have remembered to eat any!
    Speaking of the hors d'oeuvres, OMG. The food was phenomenal. We got compliments all night on how delicious the food was! Every morsel was amazing and the best part was that Cheryl and Michelle both made sure that my husband and I sat down and ate at least a little bit!
    If you're considering Colonial Hall, DO IT. Salem is such a cool setting, and Colonial Hall really went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us.

    We had an amazing reception at the Colonial Hall. Michelle and the event staff were friendly and very easy to work with . The food was top notch and we received a ton of compliments from our guests. We were very drawn to the beautiful wood work, chandelier and design/layout of the room. We had our cocktail hour upstairs, with the dining and dancing on the main floor. We felt the pricing was reasonable and any questions we had were promptly answered. We highly recommend the Colonial Hall as a wedding reception venue, we couldn't have been happier with our day.

    Colonial Hall is an amazing and yet still relatively unknown venue for weddings and events. The space is gorgeous and not your average ballroom, the vaulted ceilings, wrap-around balcony and dark wood floors are so unique and definitely left an impression on all our guests. Our coordinator Leanne was so attentive and great to work with. Quickly answered any questions and made sure every detail was perfect. The flexibility on the menu (both food and bar) was outstanding, they added items for me without up charging or getting snippy. The value cannot be beat and there are no surprise charges. The food was AMAZING. I had a guest this weekend tell me (3 months later!) that it was "lick your plate" good and that she was still thinking about it. In general the venue was so accommodating, they did full setup/breakdown, let us drop everything off days in advance and held it until the morning after for pickup (no stressing day of trying to coordinate decorations = major help!). The only issue I had with service is that one of the bartenders had a bad 'tude (tried charging the groom for drinks and was rude to our dj and a couple of guests) but I assure you this was an anomaly and the rest of the staff was stellar. We were assigned a personal server that followed us all night and made sure our glasses and plates were never empty. I encourage any brides looking for a personalized level of service and class, great value and amazing food to go check them out.

    My husband and I recently threw a belated wedding reception and are so glad that we chose Colonial Hall for our venue. We live in Boston but Salem was a great location for a party – it’s easy for guests to get to and once you’re in Salem all the hotels etc. are easily within walking distance. Colonial Hall is above the Rockafellas restaurant/bar which is right in downtown Salem. We had our party on a Saturday night, but definitely couldn’t hear any noise from the restaurant downstairs. Plus, once our event ended it was great that everyone could just head downstairs to the Rockafellas bar and keep partying. Michelle Minasian was our event coordinator and was absolutely great through all the planning and the night of the party as well. Michelle and Colonial Hall took care of all the set-up/take-down and were really flexible on the days/times, so we were able to just enjoy the weekend with our guests. Colonial Hall itself is a really beautiful space – we had about 80 guests and did a cocktail reception upstairs on the balcony above the ballroom, photos on the staircase, and dinner/dancing on the main floor. All the linens, decorations, lighting etc. looked great. The buffet dinner was absolutely amazing! So many of our guests told us that they really loved the food. Michelle, the chef, and all the wait staff worked really hard to make sure everyone had a good time and enjoyed the food – they prepared extra meals for our guests with dietary restrictions, made my husband and I a snack before the event after finding out we had missed lunch, and took care to make sure my husband and I got a chance to eat during the busy night. During the party Michelle kept things running smoothly, and we are very thankful for all her help. Overall, we had a great experience working with Colonial Hall and thoroughly enjoyed our party! If you are looking for a great venue in Salem I definitely recommend Colonial Hall!

    I cannot say enough good things about Colonial Hall at Rockafellas, and am so beyond glad I selected this venue for my wedding reception. I have heard nothing but amazing feedback about the room itself, the food,the service, all were bar none. From the getgo, Michelle was very helpful, from setting up our private tasting, to making sure there was apple cider for our signature drinks, to allowing me to come in a few days early to set up my centerpieces, she was really wonderful to work with. There were zero hiccups that day, and everything ran smoothly. There was even a lovely server, Christine, who was assigned to make sure my husband and I got a chance to taste all of the appetizers and make sure we always had a drink, etc. A big thank you to Christine!
    I would whole-heartedly recommend Colonial Hall to any bride who wants a stunning wedding with INCREDIBLE food!!
