We had out wedding at the Lake Elsie wedding barn on Aug 10th 2024. It was such a beautiful venue and they were all so accommodating and flexible with our visits to the venue! We had so many compliments from our guests about what a beautiful venue it was and that Sandys catering was WONDERFUL!! We had brisket, chicken thighs and scalloped potatoes, so many people said it was the best wedding meal they have been served. Sandy and Marshall were so kind and truly went out of their way to make sure we had the best and most relaxing day possible! Everyone on staff (setup people, bartenders, security, and bus driver) were all so kind and respectful of us and our guests. We couldn't have asked for a better wedding day! -

Everyone at Lake Elsie is super helpful and very professional. They communicate the big day and are there to help point my staff in the right direction. Sandy takes care of all of your needs, and she makes the stress of planning your wedding plans ahead an absolute breeze. -

5 stars all the way around! This is a beautiful venue, and we loved how there was a different spot for each part of the celebration. It made it very convenient, not having to change up each area before the next portion of the wedding/reception/dance. Sandy and Marshall went above and beyond since the day we booked their venue. They always responded to any sort of questions, comments, and concerns very swiftly while we were in the planning stages. They helped tremendously while we battled the wind. Marshall quickly got to work making sure everything was secured; he even used his skid steer to move extra wind breaks around the tent to help with the wind. Sandy always had her phone at the ready even while she was busy maintaining the entire celebration over the course of the weekend. Sandy cooked an incredible meal for our wedding, it was unforgettable. We definitely recommend her boneless chicken thighs with the white barbeque sauce! She made our every concern her top priority. Overall, we felt very accommodated and respected. They treated us like family from day one. 10/10 will be recommending this venue to everybody in our lives while planning their weddings. -

I had the pleasure of DJing for the owners of this venue and it was a wonderful experience! Sandy and Marshall are the sweetest couple, their communication was clear and timely. The venue itself has beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces to share with your loved ones. Great for large or intimate gatherings with easy to find electric outlets for vendors. 10/10 I can't wait to go back! -

Stepmom of the groom and vendor
The Lake Elsie Wedding Barn and Lady on the Lake B&B are hidden gems of North Dakota. We just wrapped up a wonderful wedding weekend and couldn’t be happier. Many thanks to Sandy, Robin and the entire team. Sandy and Marshall have recently made a considerable investment in the pavilion tent, the paved surface, and surrounding landscape. This worked well for dinner, even with a brisk April day. The dance upstairs in the barn was so much fun. Many memories made last weekend! Brian and I hope to return again, next time to relax and enjoy more of Sandy’s cooking. Maybe I’ll get that scalloped potato recipe out of her yet! 😉 -

Jon & Lydia's Day at Lake Elsie
What a beautiful day and what a beautiful venue! Our guests still rave about how fun the Lake Elsie Wedding Barn was for our wedding. The Barn has characteristic details that you won't get anywhere else. From the original brick walls, to the silo, to the tulle on the ceiling, it all ties together, pairing elegance with rustic charm. The crystal chandeliers and cafe lighting illuminate the Barn with a romantic glow. Beyond its beauty, the owners get an A+!! Marshall and Sandy were there at our beck and call to help move things, serve wine, and assure everything was flowing according to plan. We were so relaxed on our wedding day because of their attention to detail. In the planning process, Sandy walked us through our whole weekend -- from Friday night rehearsal to Saturday night last call -- we walked through it together and were able to envision our entire weekend before it played out. This was extremely helpful for my "type A" personality; we were all on the same page and the details were planned down to a T! Marshall was right there to assist in moving any decorating pieces and had a bonfire ready for us both Friday and Saturday nights -- another "hit" according to our guests! One of the best parts about our wedding package was that we, as a couple, and a few friends got to stay right on location at the Lady on the Lake Bed & Breakfast. We arrived Friday morning and I didn't leave the location until Sunday afternoon! Being able to stay right there was SO convenient! We love to relive our day over and over, and will always cherish the Lake Elsie Wedding Barn!

More than we imagined ❤
This venue was everything and more! Sandy and Marshall are remarkable hosts. I can not say enough about how amazing our experience was! From the first initial email to the follow up, it was all on point. Our guests were blown away by the beauty of the venue and the hospitality of everyone who worked our wedding.
We will definitely be back to enjoy the gorgeous B&B! -

Truly amazing venue!
This venue is absolutely amazing! The price was perfect and they have everything you could ask for and many things I didn't even know I needed! Marshall and Sandy were so kind and helpful! They were very flexible when it rained and we had the wedding inside last minute! I couldn't have asked for a better wedding at a more beautiful and perfect place! -

Colonel Hankinson Historic Barn
The staff was friendly, organized and ready to serve us. This is the best place for indoor or an outdoor wedding. I would recommend this place to anyone especially for the price. -

Wow, HUGE thank you for being the most kind, and understanding people to help me with my wedding. I am huge on cleanliness and everything was 100% up to par with my expectations. The barn was gorgeous, and the property was perfect for all my fairy tale photos I had in mind for my special day. The bed and Breakfast was perfect for accommodating all my family and friends for the night before my special day.. words can not express how smooth everything went, and how happy they were to work with every one of my demands. I HIGHLY recommend to all people who think about having their wedding here. Thank you again!! -
Andrea Sent on 10/12/2018I highly recommend this venue for ANY occasion. Beautiful outdoor space, enormous indoor rustic with class. The owners are there to help every step of the way, and make you feel like family! My son was married here 10/21/2017. We all were overly impressed from start to finish. The ability to make a few trips there prior to the wedding to enable us the best planning was so convenient. When my other children get married, I will be highly suggesting this venue. Plus, the casino is only 10 minutes away, so stay an extra night at Lady on the Lake Bed & Breakfast, and enjoy a night at the casino!

It would have been a perfect venue for us, if it weren't for COVID. My husband and I were long distance with our families in Kansas and Pennsylvania. We couldn't find a place that would accommodate our wedding party for a while weekend in either of our home towns, but this place had it all. We chose the Rhodium package and it included just about everything except the caterer for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The bed and breakfast on property is beautiful! The owners also have an inn in town which we were going to rent out for the weekend as well. They have a safe shuttle that will transport your guests all weekend! They offer some decorations and outdoor activities like kayaking as well. Sandy and Marshall were very sweet and when we took a tour, she made us lunch! If you're looking for a weekend escape with everything included for your wedding, please consider Lake Elsie Wedding Barn (formerly Colonel Hankinson). -

The owners and managers of this establishment are very kind hearted people who really do want you to have the best experience. It is reasonably priced for such a beautiful location. the managers are flexible and are easy to get in contact with. I had my wedding here and it all turned out very beautiful. -
