When looking for a wedding photographer, my then-fiance assured me after looking through the work of many photographers on the Central Coast that there were only a few whose work spoke for itself. After a long first phone call with Colleen, I knew that she was the right fit for me--friendly, assertive, and professional. Every step of the way, she worked with me to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. The wedding day goes by so quickly, and everything is such a whirlwind, but now I can look back to Colleen's amazing pictures from that day and relive it again and again. She made everyone look good--even the slouchers and scowlers (of which I sometimes am one)! In the vein of a Baroque era artist in residence, Colleen ensures that her skill combines with your taste to create a personalized work of art.

Colleen was MAGIC!

Not only a really cool lady but truly MAGIC with the camera. We hired her for a two day affair...an intimate wedding on Friday and then a let loose party on Saturday. From the first call with her...she got it! She was on board and ready for what we wanted. She not only listen to what we were going for she offered up thoughts but not in the boss, rude or condensending way...she offered up ideas and thoughts to help and improve everything about the ceremony and party. She is a PRO and with her input she made everything BETTER. She was a dream with us and got the shots in the short 30 min period she had. She let us be goofy and fun but also helped us to get the money shots that we would never do on our own. She made us laugh. She made our families laugh and she made everyone feel comfortable and happy. Which is what you want to shine through in your photos. We call her Auntie Colleen now and she will forever be apart of our family! Call her...book her...don't hesitate. She is amazing.

Colleen is an amazing photographer! She has such a calming presence about her. We knew we made the right choice when we had her take our engagement photos. We called her the day before wondering if we should cancel because one of us was sick. She let us decide the morning of and wasn’t upset at all when we decided we needed to cancel. She was honest with us and said the pictures wouldn’t look as good. We were able to reschedule for another time and it was perfect! We had so many options for our “Save the Dates”. Colleen was kind enough to invite us over to preview the images and let us have a say in the editing.
Colleen went above and beyond to make sure we felt and looked spectacular on our wedding day! We had several phone and email conversations prior to our wedding day. Colleen even attended our rehearsal so she could check out the lighting and preview possible photo locations. Colleen gave us advice regarding family groupings and meeting locations following the ceremony. This allowed our day to go extremely smoothly since we weren’t wasting time tracking down family members. We expressed our concern regarding a family member normally uncomfortable being photographed. Colleen took this to heart and made this person feel incredibly special throughout the whole day! This same family member raved about Colleen following the wedding, emphasizing how relaxed and comfortable she made her feel.
We were so surprised and thrilled when we received a sneak peek of our wedding photos on our honeymoon! Colleen was thoughtful enough to send us three of her favorites that she had finished editing. Colleen worked very hard editing the rest of the photos and sent them to us earlier than we expected! We cried going through every image, reliving the best day of our lives! Colleen captured all of our emotions and the positive energy of our guests.
We are so grateful Colleen captured priceless moments for us. We will cherish them forever!

Colleen was a dream for us on our wedding day! She was so comfortable to work with, giving us great direction, running all around our wedding venue, but really slipping into the background to capture the atmosphere of the day. The photos were excellent. Just the perfect mix of positioned stills and random snap shots of the crowd having a blast. I really loved the frames of us laughing or smiling while mingling with our guests. She was a pleasure to work with, so easy and yet totally in control of the event. I was so confident in her skills and her photos just proved me right. I would recommend Colleen to anyone who really wants beautiful photos that capture the feeling of the event with all its joy and fun!

I can't stop looking at my wedding pictures!! Colleen did an amazing job of capturing every special moment. My husband and I never took engagement photos so this was the first time we ever experienced taking professional photos together. Colleen made us feel so comfortable throughout the day and it was obvious to see how happy and natural we were with each other. She was one of our only vendors who we felt really wanted to know what we wanted out of the day and that's exactly what we got!

The moment I saw Colleen's work, I knew I had to have her as my wedding photographer. She has a very timeless and elegant style which was exactly what I wanted. After talking with her, I had no doubt I had found my photographer, she is very professional but personable, lovely and fun to be around. It seemed like she became more than just my photographer, she always went the extra mile and just played such a key part in my wedding. She shot my engagement photos, as well as my wedding, which are all stunning. I don't know what I would have done with out her. Amazing photographer!!! When I was looking for a photographer for my wedding last May I came across some of Colleen's photo's on pinterest! She definitely has a creative eye for capturing intimate moments which is exactly what I was looking for! After chatting with her on the phone I knew she would work out well for us! She was very easy to work with & very quick to respond to any questions that I had! Her professionalism & timing was excellent & allowed our special day to go very smoothly! Colleen did the photography for both our engagement pictures and our wedding. She was amazing! Colleen made a day trip all the way to Big Sur for us just to take our engagement pictures. Her personality made us feel extremely comfortable and natural which helped capture some wonderful photos! She is so amazing at capturing a moment (not overly posed pictures). Colleen went above and beyond her duty as a photographer and was involved in many details to help make our wedding day perfect. One thing we wondered when deciding on a photographer was if a second photographer was needed or not. After having Colleen I am confident that a second shooter was not needed. Only having one photographer not only allowed us to be more relaxed, her pictures are amazing quality and she didn't miss a thing. I would highly recommend Colleen not only for her ability to take quality photos, but her calm and confident personality is the type of person you want around on a stressful and busy wedding day.

We used Colleen for both our engagement photos and our wedding. Colleen is the absolute BEST ! Everyone was completely blown away by our photos, including us. Colleen has this magic ability to capture the emotion of the experience....it's unlike any other photographer's work I have ever seen. And she does it in a way where you have absolutely no idea she's even there. What I loved instantly about Colleen was her genuine enthusiasm not only for what she does but for us as a couple in love and getting married. She took the time to sit down with us, ask questions, get to know us, and get to know our style. I felt like she knew us completely and our photographs were truly a reflection of the overwhelming positive emotion of our big day. Some of the photographs you almost feel as if a private moment was intruded upon. Even though our wedding was almost 4 months ago, still today when I look at the photos I find myself tearing up. Everyone who has seen our engagement and wedding photos have told us they have never seen more beautiful photographs. The only problem is trying to figure out which ones you want to frame because they are all so outstanding. Photography is such an important part of the day and choosing Colleen to be a part of our wedding day was by far the best decision we made.

Colleen Rosenthal was the photographer at both of my children's weddings - my son and daughter-in-law's in April of 2014 and my daughter and son-in-law's at the beginning of August of 2014, so I can speak as both the mother of the groom and mother of the bride. Colleen is more than a consummate professional whose photos elicit such remarks as "Wow! These photographs truly reflect the magic of the day!" and "These are the most beautiful photographs I've ever seen!" and "She really captured everyone's emotions!" She is a photographer who deeply cares, and who is amazing at reading people and bringing out their best. Colleen takes care of the bride and groom foremost; however, she also takes care of everyone else involved - parents, grandparents, families, friends, and does so with contagious positivity - AND she does this with grace, humor, generosity, and love. Prior to the engagement photos, Colleen met with my kids and really got to know them. It was evident from the very beginning that they were in good hands. And the engagement photos were amazing, a true preview of what would come wedding photos-wise. In essence, It's as though each wedding is an opportunity to make everything just a bit more beautiful; it's evident that she takes her job as the memorialized to heart! I cannot recommend her enough! She is a gifted photographer who puts her clients first and who with humility produces some of the most magical shots I've ever seen!

Colleen is the absolute BEST photographer I could have chosen for my wedding. She if professional, extremely talented, responsive, efficient, and listened to all my requests. I was so comfortable working with Colleen from the moment we met, and was so happy to have her around throughout the rehearsal dinner and wedding. When I saw our wedding proofs I couldn't have been happier. Her work is SO beautiful!

Wow! is all I can say about this phenomenal lady! Her photographs of our daughters wedding are the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen! I wish they would let me give Colleen more than 5 stars! Her pictures come out looking incredibly organic and romantic, and we truly love them. She had a great eye for capturing the quirky personalities of the guests, wedding party, etc. Everyone who sees our wedding pictures has been very complimentary about them, and many people ask who the photographer was so that they can use her for a future event. After the wedding, she had a much faster turnaround time than the photographers my other friends used for their weddings, and she did a beautiful job of photo finishing.

In addition to the wonderful photography, Colleen has a calming presence and is great at making nervous photo subjects feel comfortable. She is a wonderful and positive person, and we loved having her at our wedding. I very very highly recommend her to anyone looking for a top quality photographer for wedding or other life events.

I would recommend trying to book Colleen pretty far in advance of your wedding, because the busy season can fill up quickly.

As the staff at my venue put it, Colleen is the "gold star" of photographers on the central coast. This is the truth. You cannot get better than her. Although, if you look at her portfolio online, you can already tell because her pictures are beautiful.

From our first conversation Colleen was incredibly organized, knowledgeable, friendly, flexible, and professional. She was confident in her ability to give me and my now husband exactly what we wanted, which helped easy my wedding anxieties. She has been in the business for awhile so she also had helpful suggestions about our pictures and knows many of the vendors in the area which helped make our wedding flow well. She followed through with her promise to produce beautiful pictures. The pictures she took of my wedding are amazing and I am continually getting compliments on them. Colleen really has an eye for beauty including understanding how certain lighting will translate into film. She took some pictures as the sun was setting which look breathtaking. You cannot fake good, natural light in pictures and she has a talent for finding it. She is also very energetic, friendly, and upbeat, which just added to the excitement for me and my guests.

I do not have enough good things to say about Colleen. If you can, I'd book her without hesitation if you want the pictures of your wedding to be as beautiful and amazing as you remember the experience.

The aren't enough superlatives to describe Colleen!!! I feel so incredibly fortunate to have chosen her as the photographer for our rehersal dinner and wedding day. Colleen has ability to connect with people and capture the essence of their spirit. Her photos feel natural and have an emotional quality to them. I was a little concerned about wedding photos since my husband is shy in front of the camera, but Colleen made it very comfortable and casual. Her fun and enthusiastic personality makes it easy to smile. It felt as if I had known her forever. I had always envisioned taking photographs with my horse in my wedding dress. You may have noted them on Colleen's website. Most people thought I was nuts, but Colleen was up for whatever I threw her way. They turned out amazing!!! Colleen was always responsive to emails or phone calls and open to all of our ideas. Colleen is a true talent. You're crazy not to have her behind the camera on your wedding day. I'm a wedding photographer from DC who got married in Paso Robles; I get asked all the time, "How did you choose your wedding photographer?" Well, I didn't think it would be easy. In fact, I had trouble starting the entire process. I didn't have any contacts there, so I was flying blind. I was recommended to Colleen Rosenthal by our wedding planner, Celebrations by Patrice. I looked at Colleen's photographs and loved them. However, it was not until I met Colleen in person for our engagement session that I really realized what I loved about her. My husband is very shy and HATES having his photo taken; Colleen was able to make him feel comfortable and happy throughout the entire process - I can assure you this is not an easy feat. He actually enjoyed it! I'm fairly certain it would be impossible not to be comfortable and happy in her presence. Colleen is unobtrusive, but never misses the shot. She has an incredible sense of timing and awareness of the moments happening around her. Often I've seen that photographers without a second shooter miss a lot of moments happening around the bride because they are focused on the bride - Colleen is able to capture all of the above! We had a particularly difficult lighting situation, but you would never know from the photographs - they are perfect. I truly cannot recommend her enough. I was married in 2012 and I am writing this review two years later because she really is that amazing and I think about how perfect everything about Colleen Rosenthal Photography was on our wedding day. There is absolutely nothing I would change. I think I am a better photographer for having met her.

Colleen is an enormously gifted photographer who captured the most precious moments of our Wedding in classic, beautiful, fun and creative ways. There simply are not words to express how wonderful it is to work with Colleen, but I am going to try anyway! My family first met her for my little sisters wedding in October of 2010 and it was love at first click! She was an absolute joy to work worth and as others have already said she has the most amazing knack for capturing unscripted moments, be they funny or tender, the images she captures lets our family relive a perfect day over and over again! We loved her so much that when it was time for my wedding I knew that Colleen had to be there...and when I discovered that she was already booked, I moved my wedding date. My husband and I hired Colleen 5 years ago to photograph our intimate wedding with 26 guests. With her professionalism and tremendous photographic talents, she captured the most amazing photos of our ceremony, reception and guests without being intrusive during the event. She has a genuine, sincere way about her that made us, and our guests, feel 100% comfortable which shines through each and every photo she took. We were so pleased with every photo, that it was difficult not to include all of them in our album. Yes, she is that GREAT of a photographer!! She truly cares about documenting your wedding in a personal, memorable, unique and artistically beautiful manner.

We had a very small wedding (just the 2 of us on a beach!). Colleen made us feel very comfortable and at ease. Her photographs were beautiful and at a very reasonable cost. I would highly recommend her!

My wife Shawna and I were married this last November 2010 at the Ritz Carleton in Marina Del Rey, CA. We had a perfect magical day, and Colleen played such a pivital role, I cannot begin to express how thankful and fortunate we were to have had her with us that day, but hopefully this note can assist you similarly:

COLLEEN AND HER WORK, WERE WITHOUT A DOUBT THE HIGHLIGHT (save my wife) OF OUR PERFECT DAY.

In retrospect Colleen was the one thing we could not have done without. She was the one item we couldn't afford to make a compromise on. She was that special. As good as I had heard and hoped, nothing could have prepared me for the positive impact Colleen had, and continues to have every day since in the way she captured that perfect day for us. I cannot possibly put into words the full impact, but having just gone through the process ur going through and having a little hindsight, I will give it my best shot in hopes that your wedding has every success and joy that ours did.

First things first: THE PICTURES: I don't photograph well, never have...of the many hundreds of pictures my wife and I loved EVERY single one. What's more, generally you have to pick and choose which pics you want to share and which ones you don't...there wasn't a single bad picture among them and, throwing caution to the wind, we opened up the entire album to everyone. TO A PERSON, I havent heard anything besides 'that is one of our most favorite pics ever..." In wondering what to get family, bridesmaids, groomsman, etc as a thank you, so far its been one of colleen's pictures blown up and framed and everyone has loved it.

She captured EVERY moment we remembered, and showed us the ones we missed. I will never forget my mother-in-law casually asking Colleen at the end of the 5 hour reception if she had seen the monarch butterfly that landed above us during the ceremony and Colleen w/o hesitation answered 'wait till you see the print of it". So regarding the finished product, I have nothing but the highest praise. Along that line, there was one thing I did not love initially but will include so u can make a more informed decision:

Colleen warned us ahead she liked to touch up every single picture before sending them and it would take 5 weeks from the day as she was booked for so many event and insisted on doing them all personally. When I saw the results I understood just how much attention was paid to each picture and why she is as busy as she is. This was the greatest day of our lifes and Colleen treated each and every print with the love and respect I would only expect from me or my wife. I promise you from spending 8 hours with her, she loves what she does, truly deeply and passionately and she imparts such wisdom and love into her work. So that's our review of the finished prints.

Now to our second (and last) review, which for us was even more important than the finished product and that was the flow of the moment and people management which invariably any photographer will have to undertake...I cannot emphasize how important that was to our wedding, and something i had not thought of before. Colleen's bedside manner is unparalleled. Simply, in that regard she was the single most important asset to our wedding. Our guests (all 175, from beverly hills, pacific palisades, santa monica, potentially hard-to-pleasers) LOVED Colleen. Most people don't like being told when to smile, how to smile, where to stand, and ur in suits, uncomfortable clothes and you just want to enjoy the moment, eat, drink etc. Colleen keeps people moving, she has an agenda and she knows what she's doing, but she helps every single person (young, old, grumpy and even drunk) to get where they need to go, to get the shot, on time, and to do it with a beaming smile. Colleen made everyone feel SO GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES and I'm quite sure that had a lot to do wiith why her pictures turned out so well. We had a few relatives hell bent on making a scene or a protest or to take the moment away from my wife and quite simply Colleen would NOT ALLOW it. My wife and I never saw or heard about anything like that till after Colleen had handled it discreetly and professionaly and what's more those same relatives all complimented Colleen profusely at the end of the night and in notes to us later.

Colleen listened to us before about what was important to us and familiarized us with how she operates. Again she loaned her expertise to us in helping us discover how to best articulate the moments we wanted to capture, and in addition she gave us her full attention and listened to exactly what we wanted, even when a few of our requests were a bit untraditional.

I have never discussed the financials of our wedding, but for the sake of this review I will in hopes that it may properly help you to relate to what I hope is a spectacularly over the top review of her services. Our budget was around $50,000 and money was a HUGE concern for us, like with any wedding. Additionally, our budget got cut a few times during the process, and I'm so glad Colleens reputation proceeded her, and that she made herself so accessible, helping us make some tough decisions.

So there it is. I'm not terribly inclined to write reviews or recommendations, but as our day turned out so perfectly and its so easy to identify the single greatest outside influence, I'm writing this review. Her prices were very comparable to the dozen or so other phtotgraphers that were recommended to us, but again, having spent the money we did, I'm so grateful that Colleen was there to capture it all and maximize every penny that was spent. She made the day with her talent, her passion and her charm, and her finished work was simply brilliant. If Colleen feels like someone who could work for your event, I hope this review helps to paint a better picture of the effect and importance she had for us.

Colleen is a perfect ten across the board and I cannot recommend her more highly.

I googled photographers in San Luis Obispo and came up with 5 or 6. The first group were nice, fairly standard wedding type photos. Colleen was last and the photos were at a different level altogether. True artistry. We are extremely pleased with the results. She took the pictures we all want and for the last hour disappeared. She was there of course, getting great candids. Colleen is a class act.

Colleen took the most amazing pictures for both our engagement and our wedding day. She was not only an amazing photographer but a great help at planning so our pictures came out perfect. Both she and her staff our great at getting your questions answered. She took the best photos without us even noticing she was there. We couldn't love our pictures more.

Colleen was absolutely the best thing that we did for our wedding. We had a destination wedding in wine country and not familiar with the area at all. Colleen gave me advice for all of the details and even made calls to find me a florist!!!! The pictures are stunning and she captured all of the best moments. She was not intrusive and many times I didn't even know she was around taking pictures. Such a blessing to have found her!

Colleen Rosenthal captured so many beautiful moments from our wedding! She has a unique artistic eye that no other photographer can match. After researching different photographers and looking on photos online, her albums of photos were not boring posed pictures, but they depicted the emotion and expression of love in a natural way. Colleen's personality only adds to her incredible ability in photography. Her energetic and positive attitude made the day stress-free and fun! She easily communicated with the family members, and her laid back personality and laugh made everyone enjoy the experience. Colleen is very generous with her time and even came a little before the designated time, and stayed longer afterward! Our family felt very blessed to have her be a part of our day. Colleen has an amazing eye for capturing the true emotion in a photo. She excels at candid shots and gets great posed shots as well. She knows how to tell a story with her photos and helps you relive your day every time you look at them. Somehow she gets a picture of absolutely everything and you don't even know she is there. My husband and I were looking on the central coast to elope in March 2009. I found everything I needed mostly by online searchs. I confirmed my decisions by checking with the lodge where we stayed letting me know whom I had chosen. I went with my gutt, look & feel of the website and the name. We met Colleen for the first time when I opened our hotel room door. There was a smiling woman just bursting of joy and a camera around her neck. I was partially dressed & my fiance was starting to change. She started snapping immediately. We had the most joyess day with Colleen and the other professionals. The minister, videographer, and Colleen all knew each other and worked very very well with each other. it was like 'old home week'. There were times when we had forgotten that we were even being photographed. We felt so at ease with Colleen. I had dreamed of sunset and beach pictures for our wedding, and she knew exactly what I meant. Since our elopement, I have thought about going back to the central coast for an anniversary in the future and contacting Colleen for another photo opprotunity. We have more photos than we could have possibly imagined. But we love absolutely everyone of them. This was exactly what I was looking for. Colleen, was exactly who I was looking for. From the moment that I heard the music on her website, to the candid snapshots of people enjoying themselves, I knew that she was the one for us. She matched exactly what I wanted our photographs to capture, our joy, happiness, and love for eeryone to see for years and years to come. I would highly recommend her to anyone! Colleen is an amazing photographer! She was an absolutely delightful part of our wedding. She wasn't just a photographer, but a wonderful guest who made us laugh and enjoy the day. People are still asking me about our photographer even though they haven't seen our photos and it's been nearly four months since the wedding. Once they've seen the pictures, the praises begin again. The hardest task I've faced has been choosing which photos will go in our book because I love all of the hundreds of photos Colleen took. Colleen has a remarkable talent for capturing the moments of the day, and her photos help me relive the most wonderful day of my life over and over again!

Colleen is an extremely tallented photgrapher and really brought our wedding to life through her pictures! It is important to invest well in photgraphy because the pictures you have after the wedding are your best memories. Colleens pictures captured not only the way the wedding looked, but also the emotions of everyone on the special day. She was a pleasure to work with, kind, encouraging, and calm (very important!!). Colleen was the perfect photographer for our wedding. We wanted an informal intimate wedding. The morning began with a hike to the top of a mountain, a wedding, an incredible vista of the Pacific Ocean as the fog parted and a tromp back down. At first we were disappointed that the sun was hiding behind some fog, but after seeing the pictures Colleen was absolutely right. The folliage looked like ethereal layers of a torte. She captured precious true moments between all of us, and took charge corraling us when we needed a group shot. She accomodated our budget and schedule and was willing to hike a mountain with us. We couldn't be more pleased.

I love her....Colleen blew me away..I had my family and friends calling after my wedding this past December and telling me how amazing she was. She had a blast at the wedding and captured everything so beautifully....Colleen actually took our engagement photographs earlier in the year and we were so impressed with her...I am really going to miss her after this wedding! All you need to do is look at the types of pictures she captures and you will see...she is the only choice..no brainer. Colleen and her staff were amazing. When the wedding is over, you have memories and you have photos that capture them. Rosenthal Photography did an amazing job--they didn't miss a thing (they shot over 1400 pictures) AND every photo is an artistic composition worthy of framing. Kudos to you, Colleen!

Colleen was very willing to adjust to our intimate Big Sur wedding and made us feel like we were planning the most perfect wedding and that she truly desired to be a part of it. Colleen is absolutely fantastic. There are many photographers that are talented, but Colleen definitely has a gift. Her photographs are artistic yet classic. She has a great personality and works well with the bridal party and families. She brought a positive and upbeat vibe that was infectious. Although expensive, I think that having Colleen as our photographer for our wedding was the best money we spent. We can talk about the day, and remember it, but I can't tell you how many times we have looked back at the photos to relive the day. It was just wonderful. She is a great person, and is exceptionally talented as a photographer. If you can afford her, and she is available I think she is the best addition to your wedding.
