We are so grateful to have had Christy Harman as our wedding officiant! Even though we didn’t know her beforehand, from our very first meeting she made us feel so comfortable and understood. Through thoughtful questions and conversation, she quickly picked up on who we are as a couple and crafted a ceremony that truly reflected our personalities and love story.
Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how personal, inviting, and modern the ceremony felt — it was everything we hoped for and more. Christy was also amazing at the rehearsal, helping to calm nerves and guide everyone with warmth and confidence.
She is such a kind, accepting, and positive presence, and we honestly can’t recommend her enough. Christy brought such a light to our day and made our ceremony feel truly special and uniquely “us.” 💍✨ -

It has been difficult to find the words to describe how wonderful Christy is. Not only during the day of our wedding, but for months and months before our big day, Christy was so helpful in guiding us throughout the process, and was truly interested in getting to know us as a couple.
On our wedding day, a stormed rolled in and everything had to be changed last minute - our original plan went out the window. Christy was truly a miracle-worker in getting everything rearranged, and our day could not have been more perfect. As both our celebrant and coordinator, she played the two biggest roles in our wedding, and executed them both flawlessly.
More than anything, she cares about the people she works with. She puts so much heart into what she does, and she is one of those people who has found their true calling. Thank you, Christy, for everything you did for us - we are so grateful!

Christy was the BEST officiant we could’ve asked for. Having a great officiant was very important
To my fiancé and I to bring a sentimental & emotional feeling to our ceremony and we wanted our guests to feel and understand our love and WOW to Christy exceed our expectations. She was responsive the entire time working with her, had a very positive and just loving energy & really knows what she’s doing. She was great to work with from start to finish, attended our rehearsal to make sure things were seamless on the day of and provided ring exchange examples and vow samples to help us spark creativity with writing our vows. Her 6 questions she gave for each of us to answer before hand and then sharing our answers with each other on the day of- was incredible. I would recommend her to anyone getting married in VA!! -

I honestly don’t know what I would have done without Christy! She takes the time to get to know you & your fiancé so it does not feel like a stranger is marrying you. Christy was once a wedding planner and now finds her interest in being a celebrant for couples! Christy was a blessing to have as our wedding celebrant for several reasons. First, Christy made the process of hiring her personalized by giving us the opportunity to speak over the phone. During this hour long conversation, I learned alot about Christy’s experience and she learned alot about my now husband and I. She was inquisitive and showed passion for learning more about our relationship, our wedding planning, and our future! She even gave my marital advice the moment she could tell I was facing stress in the planning process with family strain. Second, my husband and I met with Christy as a Panera before our wedding day and spent several hours getting to know her, her getting to know us, and feeling as though we have a mini-premarital counseling before our wedding day. We could tell how much this process means to her and how much she cares for the couples she marries! Because Christ has had prior wedding planning experience, she knows how to organize the ceremony in the most efficient manner and had great tips for including junior bridesmaids/groomsman in the ceremony itself. Because my father has passed, she gave us great advice on how to handle my brother walking me down the aisle, and having my now husband meet us part way to exchange my hand to his. Thirdly, Christy ran our rehearsal smoothly and the wedding day ceremony itself was amazing! Christy spoke about each of our love stories and how we ended up there. She made our guests feel filled with love and hope, while also getting a few laughs in there as well. Christy was professional in both her demeanor and dress. I am thankful for Christy! She is a true blessing! -

We had an intimate wedding with a handfasting at our favorite vacation house. Christy made the whole process very special and catered around our story and our needs. She took the time to get to know us and our relationship, in a simple no-stress fashion. You can tell she really enjoys what she does. Highly recommend! -

We were nervous when looking for an officiant for our wedding, as the county provided us a list and we didn't have any idea who would be willing to perform a wedding for same-sex couples. The second we spoke to Christy, we felt totally at ease. She spent so much time getting to know us and helping us plan what to say. She even took to the time to learn all about handfasting and tied the knots perfectly! Our wedding was very, very small due to COVID, but everyone talked about how memorable Christy's speech was. She even spoke about the history of the courthouse we got married in and how special it was for us to be able to married there since it wouldn't have been legal until recently, not to mention when it was built in the first place. I'l never forget it. We hadn't stopped to think about that ourselves. It meant a lot to us that she took the time to personalize our wedding and make it special for us. We definitely recommend her. You're going to love Christy! -

Wonderful officiant!
Christy was our officiant twice! First time was when we got married in our backyard with just us and our two daughters, she was so wonderful to us and even brought us a cake and some champagne. The second time was when we finally got married in front of our family and friends. She worked with us through postponing our wedding due to Covid and our rehearsal which was on New Year’s Eve! I definitely recommend using Christy for your wedding!!! -

Heartfelt, flexible, and dependable - that’s how we would describe Christy as our officiant, and we feel so lucky to have found her on Wedding Wire.
You can read our experience below, but no matter the ceremony you want, our experience taught us that (1) you’ll find Christy will put you first in making sure you have the type of ceremony that’s important to you, (2) she’s relatable and after the first phone call you’ll feel like you’ve made the right choice, (3) she’s reliable and proactively communicates
We were two months out from our January wedding and were caught in a bind. It turns out that our friend, who we wanted to officiate our wedding, could not legally marry us in Virginia. It was also important to us and our parents that the official “I do’s” happen during our ceremony. We reached out to Christy after looking at her reviews, and we feel incredibly fortunate that we did. Christy helped us create a wedding ceremony that allowed our friend (our initial officiant) and her to officiate different parts of the ceremony. Better yet, it all felt seamless. Christy was also extremely dependable. In the days leading up to our wedding, there was an increasing likelihood that it would snow/ice on that day. As we reached out to determine which vendors would still be willing to drive in the snow, Christy was the one vendor who said she would be there no matter what.
As you can see, we were extremely happy and fortunate that we chose Christy. We highly recommend her! -

Christy made our ceremony so special and unique. Many guests went out of their way to tell me it was the best wedding ceremony they’d ever attended, and some of these folks have been to a LOT of weddings this year. She gave us both a detailed questionnaire that we answered separately, then incorporated our answers into a custom-made ceremony. She gave us the perfect number of options to choose from without being overwhelming, and we ended up writing our own vows based on some of the templates and ideas she provided. You can tell she truly loves helping people get married, and this infectious positive energy seeps into everything she does. -

We absolutely loved having Christy as our Officiant! If you are looking for someone who is going to take the time to talk with you and really get to know you, Christy is that person. Not only was she quick to respond to my request, but I think we initially talked on the phone for 45 minutes. She asked questions about me, my fiancé and our relationship. She then walked me through the process of shaping the wedding vows and ring exchange, in addition to a simple questionnaire she sent out to me and my fiancé. It included questions like “when you first met, what did you think to yourself, “what was your favorite day together”, etc. These questions were fun, as they gave us time to reflect on our time together. We both filled them out and emailed them to Christy separately to use as part of the ceremony.
Once it came time for the big day, we really had no idea what Christy had written in her speech (other than the vow and ring exchange we decided on). I was honestly so excited to hear this for the first time. As you can see from one of the pictures below, she certainly had us laughing by the responses we gave for each other. She didn’t simply just read the questions and answers, but took the time to craft a nice speech that flowed beautifully.
I for some reason thought the ceremony was going to be short and sweet, but it was the perfect amount of time and oh, so sweet! It was honestly my favorite part of the entire wedding! Everyone in the Richmond area looking for an Officiant for their wedding should certainly consider Christy Harman Weddings.
