All I can say is WOW!! We are absolutely in LOVE with our wedding photos from Chris. He is truly AMAZING. He is responsive, professional, punctual, funny, talented, reliable, and reasonably priced . We got engagement photos from Chris, as well as our wedding photos. His pictures are creative, his editing is wonderful. Any other photographer that I saw edit photos and capture beautiful lighting that flatters you like he did were double the price! He also does not charge an absurd amount for adding another hour or two and making changes to packages. He is really accommodating. We got our “teaser” photos, our photo gallery, and our digital images within 2 months. Considering all the editing and touch ups he does, I was super pleased with the turnaround time! Friends and family stated our pictures could have been in a magazine, so creative and unique! We would highly recommend him to friends and family and hope to use him for perhaps family photos one day!! 

To all future brides in the DC area: if you're type A, like me, you're probably checking out dozens of photographers for your upcoming wedding. You've probably looked at so many portfolios that you can't even remember one from the next. Do yourselves a favor now: stop. Look no further. Book this guy as fast as you possibly can, and do it NOW, before he wakes up and realizes how much he is UNDERcharging his clients.

Sound a little over the top? Well, believe it. My husband and I recently hired Chris for our wedding reception, and I'm now his biggest fan. We just got our wedding photos back from him last week, and they are simply, beautifully, STUNNING. I can't say enough about how glad I am that we went with him for our big day. His intimate style and perspective is heads and shoulders above so many other portfolios I looked at, by photographers who charged double (or more!) what he did.

Confession time: I told Chris that he ought to charge more money, even though I know, as a recent bride, how quickly the wedding bills start to pile up and am sympathetic to couples who are footing the bill for their nuptials, as we did. But you know what? You're not actually going to remember, or care, about the table arrangements as much as you think you will. Or the favors. Or the stationary. Or a whole lot of other elements that seem really important to you right now. You're going to care about the memories you made that day - the laughter, the love, the joy you share with your loved ones. But there will be too many memories to hold onto, and you need someone to whom you can entrust the monumental responsibility of capturing all of those memories for you to revisit in the years to come. THAT'S worth a lot of money. And Chris is worth much more than he's currently charging. I would have happily paid twice the price I paid him for the photos we got. Ladies, scoop him up while he's still affordable - it will be the best money you spend on your wedding.

Chris did our Engagement and Wedding photographs and he did a PHENOMENAL job! He was so easy to work with and made us feel completely comfortable in front of the lens. The location choices, lens selection, and composition were all perfect, and our photos look like works of art. We put our engagement photos on our wedding website and it started a huge buzz - all of our friends and family commented on how fantastic the photos were (we heard "they look like a magazine spread" a lot) and everyone wanted to know if he would be our wedding photographer because they couldn't wait to see more of his work.
For both the engagement and wedding photos, Chris sent us preview photos the next day! The full resolution digital files arrived in a timely manor just a few short weeks later. I can't tell you enough how wonderful it really was to work with someone just as excited as us and the fact that he couldn't wait to share some of the photos speaks miles about his enthusiasm. Be sure to check out his photos here on weddingwire and his website, you will instantly see that the quality of his work speaks for itself.

Chris' work is absolutely wonderful. I loved the photos he showed me when I met with him. Unfortunately my wedding did not work out, but Chris has been awesome about refunding the retainer and I hope to work with him in the future. Very professional and understanding.

Chris is awesome. We started with engagement pictures a few months before the wedding, which gave us all a chance to get to know each other, and my husband and I had such a great time with Chris! Our personalities meshed well and we felt really comfortable with him. The engagement photos were amazing and we got endless compliments from family and friends. For the wedding, we had many guests comment that Chris and his assistant were pleasant, efficient and unobtrusive. There was a ton of traffic getting to the church and the bridal party was late to arrive so I was concerned about Chris getting there, but he was actually there early! He was extremely professional and accommodating. For both the engagement photos and the wedding photos, he immediately sent us some “teaser” pics for us to have until he finished with the rest of them. Chris is extremely creative and wonderful to work with, and we got an amazing value for the amount of talent and experience he brought to the table. I can’t wait to see the rest of the wedding pictures!

We hired Chris for our engagement and wedding pictures. Somehow we left photography for last, and he was the only person available. His prices are also very low, but you get what you pay for.

He was really nice at first. He was new to the area and had very little wedding experience. We asked for a few accommodations, and he threw a fit and even offered me marital advice.

It took forever to get our wedding CD. Friends that were married after me, got their CD and prints before we did. I don't know what took so long considering there were no edits. We were very disappointed. We even considered hiring another photographer to capture some photos that Chris missed.

He put us facing the wind, and everyone's hair is blowing back...it looked awful, and as a professional photographer, he should've chosen a different spot. There were just so many little details that left us thinking, "WTF?"

I would not recommend his services.

    Chris McGuinness Photography's reply:

I am sad to have a bad review as I work very hard for my clients. With that said…

This client asked to change her contract a couple weeks before the wedding. She asked that the contract include that I not photograph the mother of the groom because she "HATED" her and if I got her in any photos I would have to edit her out of the photos. I said I would not make this change to my contract, but would be happy to offer a full refund if she wanted to find another photographer who would do this. She did not want to step out of her contract. I asked if the groom wanted this to which I got no reply. I asked how would he feel in the future if his mother was not photographed at the wedding. I pointed out that the groom might regret not having any photos of his mother at the wedding, especially years from now when his mother may no longer be alive. This is the "marital advice" she speaks of.

I color correct all delivered photos. Average is close to 800 per wedding. So I do edit, quite a bit. The photos on wedding wire are almost all standard color corrected photos with no retouching. Retouching is not included in package but offered on the side. This client wanted difficult retouching under her chin. This is extremely difficult and time consuming work and it would have been on hundreds of photos and she was not willing to pay for the work. I always mention this upfront at client meetings and say that we handle retouching on a picture to picture basis at an additional charge.

Wind is something I honestly have no control over and was not a big issue in this client's photos. Wind against face is really the only option that makes sense for portrait "family" photos. There was a massive but brief thunderstorm and formals had to be quick to get back under the tent before the rain started.

Contract says delivery up to 3 months. Photos delivered in just over 2 months.

My assistant and I where very uncomfortable around this bride, as she was very unpleasant to us from the time we arrived 30 mins early to the time we left 15 mins past time.

I was indeed new to photography, something I did not hide, but I would still be happy to show this entire wedding to any future client who wish to see it and judge for themselves the quality of the photos.

Points of this review would legally classify as slander.

This client was a very mean-spirited individual. Unfortunately, some people just can't be pleased. Oddly, the client waited 2 years to give this review.
