Went to this cake shop asking for anyone who knew about the game Baldurs gate. Came across a lovely person who shared my enthusiasm! She was so sweet and excited about the Baldurs gate 3 theme and crafted up a beautiful cake with some slight geek flare! -

Megan Sent on 10/10/2018I absolutely LOVED getting my wedding cake from Charles Street Bakery. I actually had their cake from a previous wedding and I knew I had to have them for ours!
The consultation process was so easy and the staff was so friendly and welcoming for our tasting. They were able to capture all of the details of the cake we wanted and we couldn't be more than happier.
The vanilla raspberry cake is to die for! I dropped off fake flowers for them to use in our cake and told them to just get creative (with a small reference photo of course) and boy did they deliver! Our cake was to be simple but elegant and my goodness it was everything I wanted and more! It was the perfect blend of icing, cake, and flowers to really make it stand out and be something great! Please book them for your wedding cakes! For any cakes! I know I will be using them for many occasions to come! -

with us what we envisioned and told us what could work and what couldnt with our design and why. It was great that they were so honest with us. They made a cake that surpassed our expectations. -
Alexandra Sent on 10/04/2017We hired Charles Street Bakery to make our wedding cake for our wedding on 9/16/17. We chose two flavors, lemon cake with raspberry filling & red velvet both with vanilla buttercream frosting. The cake was absolutely delicious, and we received tons of complements from wedding guests. We worked with Zoey at the bakery, and asked that she decorate the cake with a simplistic white frosting technique and then with fresh cut flowers. I showed her pictures for inspiration, but honestly the cake design turned out way better than the pictures. I could not have been happier with the taste and the design of our wedding cake. Thank you, Charles Street Bakery for a cake to remember.

Seriously, I changed my mind about my cake at least tree times and each time they were totally accepting and happy to help make my vision come to life. Eventually I settled on something kind of weird. My new husband and I dont like cake, so we requested a brownie cake! Looks like a cake but is actually a brownie! It was delicious! -

Shelley Sent on 05/27/2010Debra is very easy to work with and makes AMAZING cakes! Our cake was beautiful, delicious and exactly what we wanted. We did not save our top layer and will have it re-created in March 2011 for our first anniversary. Although we did not have strawberry cake as part of our wedding cake, it is amazing there. I highly recommend Charles Street Bakery. -

The cake was lovely, tasty and matched my vision. Communication, follow-up and attention to detail, however, leave quite a bit to be desired. A few examples:
- After driving almost 2 hours to get to them, we waited quite a bit (about 15 min) for the tasting to start, and the process took a long time - we were there for almost two hours, for a discussion that shouldn't have taken more than 10-20 minutes tops (I had brought photos, I knew what I wanted and I didn't have a complicated order). They also did not have the flavors I had wanted for my cake available for tasting, so really, what was the point? I had mentioned these in both an email and their online form. They apologized and said it was very unprofessional, which I have to agree with.
- At the tasting and over several phone conversations, I had to continuously correct information that had been recorded incorrectly on the order form by their staff. The girl who helped us at the tasting kept writing things down as we discussed them, but kept making corrections when I pointed out errors. They also had trouble understanding what was wrong about a point I later called to correct - the background noise in the store didn't help. I felt like I didn't have their full attention or interest.
- They were unresponsive in communications. I almost never got replies back to emails, and had to follow up with phone calls for every question, such as when the rest of my balance would be due. At both the tasting and in later communications, they kept saying they had a large cupcake order to fulfill. Well, I’m sorry, if you can’t be bothered with an almost $700 wedding cake, then why take that on at all?
- A note about the location: the place is not conveniently located (i.e., close to any city), so you’ll have to drive for a bit to reach them, and it’s also quite crammed. They don't take customers to a different part of the store for tastings and consultations, so when we had ours, people were coming in and talking to the staff while we were sitting at a table trying to have a conversation with our consultant. At some point their distributor came in to deliver some eggs and started talking loudly with the owner or another staff member about chickens. Again, if I'm paying almost $700 for a cake, I deserve better. Adjust your prices or adjust your location and customer service.
I’m not sure I’d chose them again, or I would delegate dealing with them to someone on my planning team.
