We spent a lot of time sifting through photographers, styles, and aesthetics to decide on what we wanted and Channing's unique, documentary style stood out to us immediately. We appreciated his his ability to get all of the classic wedding shots, including portraits, balanced with his eye for moments that made our wedding day special. Channing was extremely responsive, easy to work with, and turned around our full gallery extremely quickly. His photos authentically represent our wedding and we are thrilled to have them as memories of such a wonderful day.Channing Johnson Photography's reply:

Incredible Photos!
I worked with Channing on my September 2022 wedding and was thrilled with his process and the final photographs. Channing's portfolio stood out to me, as he seemed to capture candid emotional moments with an editorial eye. We had initial emails and then a wonderful in depth phone conversation about what elements and emotions were important to me to be captured in my wedding photos. Even though our guest count was small, he gave the entire process his utmost attention. On the day of the wedding, Channing himself was an absolute pleasure to work with and just an awesome personality to have around on a stressful day. He was constantly snapping away and paying attention to every detail around him. If he caught us in a particularly wonderful light he would have us pause for a brief moment, but always careful not to interrupt anything we were experiencing. We received the photos so quickly and were absolutely thrilled with the gallery. Channing captured unique photos which are undeniably emotional, and at the same time was able to do traditional portraits. He saw lighting and reflections that other photographers would have missed. I love that my wedding photos have a raw and emotional quality to them while still being beautiful. Channing created some of the most beautiful photos of me, my husband, and family, and I will forever be grateful that we were able to work with him on our wedding. -

I knew I wanted to hire Channing for my wedding well before I even got engaged, after seeing the photos from a colleague's wedding he'd photographed. Channing was one of the first vendors we booked, and he did NOT disappoint! Channing's style is so unique; he doesn't try to manufacture the typical wedding poses you see everywhere - instead, he captures things as they actually happened - the emotions, the messiness, the beauty in the mundane. I'm so happy with how our photos turned out - the candid photos and the more formal portraits are all equally stunning. We'll cherish these photos forever! -

Where do we begin? Channing was absolutely incredible every step of the way. We were blown away by Channing's photos. He photographed both our engagement shoot and the wedding and we are so thankful he was there. These photos will be cherished forever. We really can't thank Channing enough for all of his hard work. It was as if he was in 2/3 places at once. We can't recommend him enough! Thanks for everything! -

We count ourselves extremely fortunate that a friend recommended Channing for our wedding day photographer. It's hard to describe the paradox of his ability to immerse himself fully into your day while going ultimately unnoticed, but the result is photos that tell the complete, unscripted story of your special day. His unobtrusive style made everyone feel at ease, allowing him to capture our loved ones' personalities and authentic emotions in every shot. Looking at our pictures, which we got back in less than four weeks (!!), it's incredible to see how he anticipated the unexpected and paid extreme attention to every detail.
Simply put: Channing did not take photos; he made heirlooms that will have a place in our families' homes and hearts for years to come. We cannot wait to share these photos with our grandchildren one day.
P.S. While we treasure all the special candid moments he captured, Channing also perfectly photographed our families, large groups, and portraits, as well as the venue, ceremony, and all details (invites, rings, etc.) from the day. He covers all the bases while remaining incredibly calm and patient. We recommend Channing with our whole hearts.

It is rare that you find your wedding photographer 9 years before your wedding, but I did. I found Channing online when I was in college and super into wedding photography. At that time, I had commented on his blog about how I wanted to pre-book him for my “one-day” wedding. And boy was I lucky that he was available for our September 2018 wedding. Channing is a true professional, the best of what I have seen out there for documenting such an important life event. Our experience with him was unparalleled. From meeting with him months out and chatting through our hopes and requests, Channing made us feel like every idea we had was fun and he attacked it with enthusiasm! He was quick to respond and made the experience feel so personal, down to his handwritten thank-you note to our mailbox thanking us for booking with him. On the day of our wedding, Channing was a ninja. He was everywhere and nowhere at the same time; if that’s possible. He integrated so well with our groups that it felt like another friend was hanging out with us and just happened to have a camera catching all of the moments you never even think about. Channing’s photo-journalistic style lends itself to creative and raw photos. He got every secret shot that you don’t plan for, but end up loving all the more. At the same time, he was down to take all the family portrait shots and planned pictures we asked for. One of my favorite moments working with Channing on our wedding day was when he took a step away from photographing for .2 seconds and helped me figure out how to put the corsage on my grandfather’s lapel. It was a sweet gesture that I won’t forget. It made me truly feel like he cared about our day and our experience as much as he cared about photographing and that stood out like crazy. Thank you Channing, for everything. You are incredible! -

From the moment we first spoke with Channing over the phone, it was clear that he was going to be a professional, organized, and calm presence throughout the planning process and on the day of our wedding. Throughout our wedding day, Channing felt like a friend we’d invited to the wedding - he was able to connect with our families instantly and make everyone feel comfortable, which made for genuine moments he was then able to expertly capture. We received our photos VERY shortly after our wedding and have been in complete awe ever since - he captured so many beautiful, short-lived moments that we can now hold onto forever.

His photos are stunning, and my family and I have spent hours laughing, crying, and poring over the six hundred photos he sent to us (less than three weeks after the wedding, no less!). What a wonderful man and an amazing talent.
