Ownbey Elopement

No stress Elopement in a beautiful atmosphere! We spoke with Rick and Cindy for about 2 weeks on details via email. Had a smooth, perfect, stress-free ceremony on the beautiful deck at sundown. Rev Rick was amazing with the vows and the happily ever after tips! I couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. Even with the rain, couldn't rain on our parade. Recommend 10/10!

Perfect Experience!

Rick and Cyndi Durham assisted in the planning and execution of my daughter’s wedding. And it was absolutely perfect! The venue was above and beyond what we expected. Their assistance in so many areas was thoughtful, professional, and exactly what we needed. Could not have asked for a better experience!

Eloped on a Rainy day!

I was blown away with our experience at Cavender Castle! The place is beautiful, the castle is so unique with a vintage vibe, and you have multiple areas to pick for your ceremony. Rick is extremely kind, patient, flexible, and made the Castle feel like home. We had the ceremony outside, even though it was raining! He also knows a lot of stuff about town, and has some really good recommendations. After the ceremony I had forgotten my ring box at the castle , Rick went out of his way to bring it to the hotel me and husband were staying at, and even gave us a call to let us know while me and my husband were out in town for dinner. Overall, the Castle and the property is beautiful with lots of gorgeous spots for pictures and Rick made the whole experience perfect by making the place feel like home. 10/10 experience, I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a small wedding or is going to elope!

We had originally planned to get married at the courthouse, not wanting to spend a lot of money on a ceremony that not many people would be coming to. I am so glad I found this place and we decided to have the ceremony here. Our wedding was beautiful. Thank you so much for making our new beginning so special!

Cyndi, Rick, and Delaney have been the best! I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else for any occasion in the future. Mike and I loved the experience so much we are already planning to go back for a renewal of our vows (in a few years of course). I wholeheartedly recommend Cavender Castle for weddings and events big or small. There is no better value for the money and they will work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want.

We had the wedding of our dreams at The Cavender Castle Venue! Rick, Cyndi and Delaney were incredible to work with for our special day. We had specific needs for family members with health issues and they went above what was necessary to ensure our family members felt dignified and loved. Our beautiful photos were sent to us in an album less than 2 weeks after our wedding, hooray!! Communicating with Cyndi was always hassle-free, enjoyable and quick. Our guests even raved about the details and beauty of our wedding. We cannot thank the Durham's enough for a day we will happily remember forever!

I had the best experience with scheduling my whole small wedding basically through email and text messaging on pretty short notice!!. Rev. Rick made sure that even if it rained, the day would not be ruined and we were able to get married inside the beautiful Castle. He treated me and my family like he already knew us all! I can't say it enough, this was the best experience on top of being so happy we got married, it was in such a friendly stressfree environment!! Thank ya'll again for such a memorable experience!

I got married at Cavender Castle on April 11, 2017. Rick, Cyndi, and Delaney made sure that it was the most magical day of our lives. We barely had to lift a finger once the plans were in place. The outdoor gazebo is an absolutely beautiful place to get married, the indoor reception area is nice and cozy for eating, and the outdoor deck is wonderful for when everyone gets up to dance! The food that the staff made was delicious and fit our theme. These guys are willing I work with you and do everything in their power to make your wedding day special, memorable, and stress free.

I highly recommend planning your wedding with the Durham family! They made a very stress time frame possible to help us plan our big day. They were very patient and understanding while we scrambled around to get things organized. Once the wedding began they took care of everything and we didn't have to worry about anything else! Cavender Castle was a DREAM! Cyndi, Rick, and Delaney were so easy to work with. We did a quick, private elopement and they treated us like royalty throughout the process. Our photos were stunning, and we got them back in just a few days! Cyndi and Delaney did a great job helping us pose for photos and find the best lighting, and Rick performed the ceremony with all the wording that we liked - leaving out parts that we didn't want and including an extra reading (and a shout-out to our dog!). 5 stars!!

Rev Rick and his wife are perfect at what they do. He has a flexible wedding ceremony that meets the personal beliefs of each couple. His wife is a great photographer and is detail oriented. They are both pleasant and have a positive attitude. It was a wonderful experience for us.

As an event planner, it was our experience with Cindy that she is the top in her field. We were incredibly impressed by her ability to be professional and personable at the same time. Not one detail was left unturned. In the midst of a busy holiday season, it was a peaceful, joy filled experience! Rick was pleasant to work with but their photographer Delaney was a DELIGHT and extremely talented. Looking back, I made the perfect choice hiring them.

The level of service we received from Cavender Castle was so far above and beyond expectations I just can't say enough good things about this place. First of all, they agreed to host our wedding on Christmas Day. That alone should put the experience over the top. We had a very intimate ceremony but still felt like we had a full service wedding. The grounds are beautiful. From the huge amount of photos taken to the personal and lovely service Rick officiated, we could not have had a more perfect wedding. They took what could have been non descript and made it extraordinary. Best day of our lives and best Christmas gift ever!

This venue was amazing. A steal for the price. Truly a wonderful couple that ran the whole show and their daughter was amazing as well (GREAT photographs).

I can not express just how much I loved the staff at Cavender Castle for our wedding. Rick, Cindy and Delaney were absolutely the best. They were very helpful in the wedding planning process, being that we were from out of state I could call or text about any concerns or changes that I had. They were a true blessing to us, especially on our wedding day when more people showed up then we planned for the staff made sure that everyone was accommodated even though I was not very happy about it. Rick and Cindy will go out of their way to make your vision come to life. We could not be happier with the way that our wedding was handled from beginning to end. I would recommend Cavender Castle to anyone that plans on having any event in Georgia. The service was exceptional.

Rick, Cyndi and Delaney were just awesome! Very easy to work with and nothing we wanted to include was too much. They worked very hard to make this about us. We had the best wedding! Rev. Rick was a joy to work with. He included everything we asked for in the ceremony. He is the best!
Our guests commented how much fun they had. The food was incredible. Friends from work are still saying how much they loved the food.

Rick, Cyndi, and Delaney were great! Cyndi and Delaney were great with helping with ideas and suggestions during our planning sessions. They go the extra mile to make your day special. Centerpieces and decorations were beyond my expectations and everything was very beautiful. We really liked the idea of a section of the castle was for the bridal party to get dressed. A room is set up for hair and makeup on the girls section. I highly recommend for anyone to marry in this special venue with special people.

Exceptional in every aspect. Rick,Cyndi,and Delaney went above and beyond to help us! Could not have asked for more. They did so many extras to help us. My wife is disabled and has trouble walking. They assisted her in every way, from having a golf cart available, to helping her with her wedding dress, and traversing steps., etc. Many things they did not have to do.

Without a doubt Cavender Castle was the perfect choice for our wedding. We looked at numerous venues, but within five minutes of talking to Rick and Cyndi we knew that we found the perfect one.

They made us feel so welcome and at home. They were very forward with pricing and what was included. They also went out of their way to make sure that we picked the perfect package for our day.

Cyndi was also our photographer. Her photos were FANTASTIC! There were so many people taking pictures at our wedding. Like a great photographer, she did not appear in a single one! She was such a joy during our photo session.

The venue it self is stunning. It has an old world feel and on the most beautiful grounds we saw while looking for a venue. The venue was over two hours from us and most of our guests but we all agreed it was worth the drive!

Our guests all raved about Cyndi's hospitality and Rick's service! Many people thought they knew us personally. I even had a few tell me "They wish they had Rick at their wedding".

We could not have asked for a better day! Thank you Rick and Cyndi!

I submitted a previous review regarding our wedding @ Cavender Castle on June 17th, but there were categories would not allow a rating of 5 stars, which is what we wanted to rate. Everything about having our wedding there was beyond all expectations and many of our guests have commented how nice everything was and how well Rick, Cyndi, Delaney, and all the staff accommodated everyone. We want to be sure they get the rating they so well deserved. We are so glad we chose to have our wedding ceremony and reception here and were very pleased with how everything turned out. Rick, Cyndi, and Delaney are such wonderful people.

I had the most wonderful wedding at Cavender Castle. Rick and Cyndi went above and beyond to make the wedding of my dreams come true. We came all the way from Indiana to have a beautiful destination wedding at the Castle and they made it so easy. It all happened without a flaw and ran like clock work. The Gazebo was absolutely breathtaking and the food was delicious. They had everything we needed right there on sight. We forgot to buy flower baskets and a ring barer pillow so Rick and Cyndi personally ran out and got it for us. They make planning a wedding completely effortless. Hands down 5 Stars!

Our wedding experience was great. We were recommended by another couple who had their wedding at the castle. The bride showed me her wedding pictures and mention the cost of her wedding (which only included the ceremony) and they sent me a link to Cavender Castle’s website. She also told me that she didn’t have to worry about anything because Rick and Cynthia handled all of the little details. I was sold. I called Rick and Cynthia in March and had my wedding in May. Rick showed us the wedding packages and initially we were only going to do ceremony like our friends but I am glad we chose to do the reception there. Cynthia help with selecting the menus, the décor, and the cakes. My husband was joking about a steak cake for the groom cake. Ms. Melba (the cake maker) and Cynthia deliver big time. The food was awesome. The staff was delightful. We had awesome time nestle back in north Georgia mountains. Our wedding was better than what we could have imaged and it even sparked wedding plans from other family members.

Was my 2nd wedding so I wanted something simple yet tasteful. Cyndi and Rick were helpful and made everything easy. We got married under the gazebo on a beautiful Spring day. Our wedding was perfect.

Compared to a destination wedding in Mexico, this was more "one on one", personal service with Ms. Cyndi! She has it down with what to do and Mr. Rick was the perfect officiator and DJ. He knows what makes a wedding with the vows and tunes! The food was great and the hospitality was perfect! It was a perfect wedding! Great job and GREAT memories and photos!!!!!!!!!!

After the frustration of trying to get the right wedding ceremony, my husband suggested we visit Cavender Castle, before settling for the courthouse . I am so glad I gave Rick and Cyndi a chance! The castle is beautiful and Cyndi has a wonderful personality. From the moment she greeted us, I felt at ease. We intended to visit the waterfall location, but I fell in love with the gazebo at the castle, after Cyndi took us on a tour of the castle and grounds. Cyndi explained the wedding packages in detail and there was no pressure to settle for what was out of our budget. She listened to us and let us make the decisions. There was no up selling whatsoever. She had recommendations on various vendors, which was very helpful. She offered suggestions on most affordable ways to go, even when we didn't use her suggested vendors. Communication was very effective and Cyndi was reachable all the time.
On the wedding day, we were awed by her effectiveness and felt like we owed her more than what we payed for. We forgot to bring several items for the cake cutting and the toast and Cyndi provided what we needed at no extra cost! Cyndi went far and beyond our expectations!
Rick had corresponded with us as far as being the officiant and delivered exactly what we needed for the ceremony.
They are a team that made our day perfect. I wouldn't do it any other way. We will be back at the castle to renew our vows in 5 years.

The Durhams at Cavender Castle were wonderful beyond belief! Everything...and I mean EVERYTHING was taken care of for our daughter's wedding, and we could not be more pleased. They are wonderful people as well, and are so very professional in what they do! They made it such a memorable and beautiful event for everyone, especially our daughter and our now son-in-love. I did not even mention the area for the wedding ceremony- it was STUNNING! A perfect wedding!

Everyone was very friendly. We had both the wedding ceremony and reception here. Cyndi took tons of photos!! Very much worth the money. We wanted something small and intimate and this was great for what we wanted.

I cannot say enough sweet things about Rick & Cyndi!!! From day one they became family! The wedding day was perfect, perfect, perfect! Everything that was planned, happened! Cyndi made sure everything went as planned and that my son & daugther-in-law had all their wishes granted. Rick, the DJ, who was well loved by the guest was awesome and made the reception very memorable! The icing on the cake was Cyndi getting my 80 year old parents to slow dance (for the first time ever)! It was very neat that not only did the bride and groom have their first dance, but my parents did also, thanks to Cyndi getting them on the dance floor. Cindy and Rick were absolutely amazing. We got married at the most beautiful waterfall venue. It rained all day, but the castle bought a waterfall feature just incase we had to move it inside. We ended up not needing to use it, and they were almost offended when we offered to pay for the mini water fountain. They always had a plan B, C, and D just in case. They were very go-with-the-flow and adaptable, and we couldn't have asked for anyone better. They helped make what could have easily been the most stressful day the best day of our lives, and we'll never forget that.

Rick and his wife were so great. We had to find another venue on short notice due to needing more space for guests. They surprisingly had a cancellation and I was able to still have my special day. Cyndi did beautiful decorations and took the most beautiful wedding pictures, and there were so many pics for me to choose from. I was so satisfied and it couldn't hv been more perfect. Also it was pretty cool that I got a discount because I'm a nurse!!

Rick and Cindy did an elopement wedding for my husband and I next to a waterfall. We were planning on doing a full wedding but things didn't work out as planned. Cavender castle was very flexible as well as very friendly and curtious for our needs. I would recommend them for any couple wanting to get married!

I am the mother of the groom and had only 4 months to select a venue for the rehearsal dinner. With the wedding taking place in Dahlonega, I was fortunate enough to read about Cavender Castle and was able to book them. Rick and Cyndi Durham were excellent in helping me with all my needs and with this being a destination wedding and having limited time, they took care of all the decorating using the bride's color scheme that i gave them. Food was plentiful and excellent. The weather cooperated that night and we were able to have the dinner on their outside deck which made the mood and atmosphere perfect to go with the rustic feel of the wedding to follow the next day. All the guest left saying what a good time they had.

Beautiful and big location. We had a simple elopement, but the location looked perfect also for big weddings. Reverend and photographer were very helpful, always friendly and asked for our wishes. They took their time for us.

The wedding couldn't have been more perfect -- the whole day was an absolute success! We kept waiting for the moment where we had to deal with a glitch and it never happened!!

Cyndi and RIck bent over backwards to make sure no one had to worry about anything at all and were willing to go above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly.

From beginning to end it was an absolutely fabulous day!

I can't say enough. What a beautiful venue, wedding and reception. It was a pleasure working wirh Rev. Rick and his wife Cyndi to plan our intimate wedding and mini reception. They made everything from planning the event to the wedding day itself so simple and stress free. The entire staff was extremely kind accommodating to our needs. Guests are still talking about how beautiful the entire event was from venue to ceremony and reception. I am so happy we made the choice to use Cavender Castle.

We are Florida grandparents who were looking for the perfect No. Georgia
Venue for our granddaughter's wedding. She lives in Dahlonega and wanted something with a touch of elegance, but still a lot of fun. We were getting very discouraged with our search when we found Rick and Cyndi Durham and the Castle. They were so easy to work with, and knowing we were planning long distance they made sure they were available to us whenever we were in Georgia. We loved working with The Castle for our fundraising event! All of the decorations we could have ever imagined we available, making set up and take down super easy. I am writing this review from the perspective of the Mother-of-the-Bride—which in December of 2012 I was (at Cavender Castle in Dahlonega, GA). My daughter chose the venue and it began as an “Elopement” Ceremony Package that morphed into the “Perfect” Ceremony/Reception Package—and then some. Besides the Bride and Groom, we had about 32 guests. I initially communicated with Cyndi and Rick Durham, but that was all that was necessary. My daughter knew what she wanted and Cyndi and Rick worked out the details with her and her fiancé in a thoughtful and super helpful manner.
The wedding and reception were both exceptionally executed through Cyndi and Rick’s guidance. All I had to do was show up and enjoy the moment—and that’s exactly what I did. The atmosphere was very festive and fun— very down to earth. I felt stress free and relaxed because Cyndi and Rick had everything under control. One expects weddings to be a little stuffy and semi-boring—but that was not the Cavender Castle experience at all. It was truly fun-filled and positive from beginning to end
One final but important element of my Cavender Castle experience—that impressed me very much—was how all the information that I received during my initial contacts with Cyndi and Rick was actually followed up on and fully completed by them. What they presented to me during our first communications—that they could and would provide for the wedding (at the fees quoted) was 110% completed. They were honest and upfront from the start.

Rick and Cyndi at Cavender Castle were absolutely amazing! If I could do it all over again I wouldn't change a thing! They were so understanding throughout the entire planning process and made every wish a dream come true. Cavender Castle is the most perfect place for the most simplest small wedding all the way up to the grandest of weddings. I recommend any event be held at Cavender Castle. Brooke and I can't tell you enough how special you made our wedding. You made it the most memorable experience of our lives. The way everything was handled was very professional and you were all so involved since the day we met. We couldn't imagine anyone else putting this together and there is no way we could ever repay you. The amount of love and passion that went into this made it a dream wedding that will never be forgotten. The whole thing was like a dream and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Rick and Cyndi are very professional and are very good at what they do. You can tell they are passionate about what they do and they love pleasing there Brides and Grooms.

Our wedding was amazing and it was way more than what we expected! They went above and beyond to make our wedding everything we imagined it would be. Even though we hit a record temperatures of 105 degrees it was still amazing.

Cavender Castle weddings are beautiful and breath taking. The food is delicious, the ceremony and receptions are amazing.

Rick, Cyndi, Todd (my husband), and I met as strangers and came out as friends!

Thank you Rick and Cyndi for everything you guys have done! You guys are truly amazing!

If your looking for a spectacular place to have your wedding this is it!
My family and I had an awesom time. Both my new husband and I can't believe how great Cyndi and her husband Rick the owners are with making sure everything is stress free and exceptionally beautiful.

All my family and friends are still talking about the terrific jobs the flowerist did on all the flowers. Omg, you have to use their florist she is unbelievebly good. Not to mention the wedding cake lady; who made sure our cake not only looked good but it tasted delicious. Rick is a passionate minister of ceremony who lives and believes in the vows he shares from the heart. I nearly cried while he was doing the ceremony because of they way he speaks to the heart and breath life to the words during the ceremony. You will always feel welcomed as family with Cyndi as your wedding specialist. Cyndi is the kind of person you want on your side on such an important day to get everything in order and make sure you are given priority as the bride. She knows how to deal with the entire family ( the cooperative ones and the non-cooperative ones) making sure your day is kept "Special" for you! She really kept my best interest at heart from start to finish no matter how what. To all the brides out there, "Cyndi is da bomb" she is by far the best wedding specialist!

The photographer was also super on point with making sure he captured all the things we imagined we wanted captured and more.....

The Cavender Castle's photographer took the most outstanding and creative photos imagineable. He gave my husband and I photos of true royalty, that say's Cavender Castle.

Cyndi and Rick are fabulous! I would highly recommend this venue to anyone! The outdoor ceremony site is perfect, and the indoor reception area is wonderful The food is absolutely first class - the team there makes sure every second runs smoothly. Since Cyndi and Rick own the business and also run the events, they are totally invested in making sure everyone has a good time. I had so many people tell me they thought it was a really fun wedding, which is exactly what I wanted. All the photo-spots around the castle are lovely - we got so many great shots! I loved the whole day, and didn't go thousands of dollars in debt either. The BYOB part of the venue lets you seve great alcohol and keep costs for an open bar under control. Every vendor Cyndi recommended was perfect - I just can't thank everyone there enough for making the day so wonderful!
