  Great venue, great price

  Catering by Uptown was great from the beginning. Jeff met with us and let us know exactly what they offered and what we could expect. The food was wonderful. the catering staff and the day of planner were great. Our planner was Marissa at first, but then she had to leave and we were assigned Lauren. She picked up like she had been there from the beginning. The only thing we didn't like, was that we were assigned yet a new person for our actual wedding day. But Ms Veronica helped make our day perfect. She worked well with my other planner and we didn't worry about a thing that day.

  The moment we entered The Villa and our Sales Representative, Deanna, warmly greeted us with Margaritas to celebrate National Margarita Day, we knew it was staffed with friendly employees. Not only were we impressed with the staff but we were also intrigued by facility itself and all that the venue offered. We only looked at one other venue before deciding to hold our wedding and reception at The Villa and we definitely made the right choice!
  Katelyn Cantu was our planning coordinator and was helpful in answering all of our questions throughout the process even while planning her own amazing wedding!
  Vicky Mitchell was our day of coordinator and executed everything beautifully. She and the staff provided a wonderful experience for me and my husband as well as all of our guests. They are still talking about how wonderful everything was weeks later! We married the day after Thanksgiving and held our ceremony and reception at The Villa. We warned everyone to come hungry because there was a lot of food included in our event and it was absolutely fantastic!
  We are so pleased with the experience we had with Catering by Uptown at The Villa and highly recommend it to anyone considering it for an event.

  I would highly recommend Catering by Uptown. They did an extraordinary job in making my wedding day beautiful and worry-free. Sandra was a fantastic coordinator and very accommodating. She made sure everything was taken care of and made everything flow smoothly. When choosing our menu, Catering by Uptown catered to our tastes, so we were able to modify our food, like no cheese in the lobster stuffed mushroom, or add old bay and warm the scallops wrapped in snow pea pods. The food was delicious and we got a lot of compliments, especially on the cake. The favorites were the grilled salmon with white bean salsa, the symphony salad, and the chicken and waffles hors d'oeuvres. The price they offer is a good deal because it includes the food, drinks, linens and dinnerware, basic centerpieces, and cake (and lighting if you hold it at their venue). I would totally hire catering by uptown again for any events. Superb job!

  Shonda Cherry is the best coordinator ever! I could not have imagined a more perfect wedding day. The Villa was the perfect location and Shonda made planning a wedding from out of state easy. With me living out of state I wanted to work with Shonda through the entire planning process as well as have her be my day of coordinator. With the long distance, telephone and email was our means of communication. She was always quick to respond and always answered my questions or concerns. The few times we met in person was awesome. Shonda went above and beyond to make my day the way I imagined it. I had my crazy ideas of the colors that I wanted but I was happy Shonda was there to provide other suggestions. The decors and other items that I provided were set up to perfection and the colors from the linen and table napkins blended well. During the wedding Shonda helped us to stay on task so that we were able to maximize our time. The food was awesome and the staff were great. My wedding guests were amazed by the experience that they had. Many who lived in the DC/Maryland area was surprised that they have never heard of the Villa and was shocked that I was able to find it from out of state. I highly recommend the Villa and wedding coordinator Shonda Cherry to anyone who wants their wedding day or other event to be perfect!

  The tasting was amazing! The food for my reception and cocktail hour were also amazing! The chef's were very particular and sensitive with regard to the large number of guests that I had with food allergies, and their service, particularly the teams let by Margo and Sandra were outstanding in terms of their service, and the quickness of food brought out for plated dinners. They do an excellent job of helping you determine the best linens, and they have a number of decor options that can be used to enhance your reception. Furthermore, they are super flexible in terms of menu selections-there are a ton to pick from!

  My son's wedding reception was catered by Catering by Uptown and we are very happy with their service. The food was exceptional and very guest was filled with praises. The service was superb and the event coordinator Sandra left nothing to be desired. She was on top of things, went around to make sure we were all fine and even made sure things were handled in the most beautiful and sophisticated way. Jeff Ditter was our first contact when we were in the process of choosing a caterer and his professionalism and helpful ideas sold us to choosing them. We had never met a catering company so open to the clients needs and we did have a few special items and he made sure they were delivered.
  Anyone looking for a catering company should try Catering By Uptown as we felt they were simply the BEST.

  You get what you pay for....... From "A" to "Z". my wedding was the best. Karen Carter is AMAZING, she is like superwoman in a black dress. We were well taken care of and treated like we were the only wedding. I don't know where they found so many caring consultants and waitstaff, they are very special people. Karen listened to every detail and executed all my requests with grace and precision. The waitstaff were friendly and professional. The food was phenomenal, the portions were hearty, the service was stellar. The bartender was friendly, his drinks were tasty. I was running about an hour late to the venue, Karen kept us on schedule. She was calm, cool and focused. We were able to take pictures and do all the traditional wedding stuff without a hitch. I could not be more happy to give a great review for a dynamite caterer. I am so happy, my mother went with her instinct and hired Catering by Uptown. They treated my guest like royalty, they are still raving about the food and service. They helped to make my big day, one of the happiest days of my life. I will hire them next year for my anniversary party. Thank you, Karen and Catering by Uptown.

  My husband and I had a very small ceremony and reception at my mother's house. Catering by Uptown came to her house and transformed it into the best venue I could have hoped for. Glynis was my wedding coordinator and she was great. Everyone was extremely professional and attentive. The food was excellent. They were flexible with the menu and I got to have everything I wanted. The best part was that it was practically one-stop-shopping, they provided the tables, chairs, linens, dishes, silverware, and centerpieces. They set up in my mom's garage and everything went incredibly smoothly. We liked them so much that they catered a second party at my mom's house recently. Once again, fantastic. - VT.

  Shonda our coordinator was great. Food and cake was everything; our guests are still talking about it. The open bar and cocktail hour was an excellent choice. I would have given a 5 but the venue was not cooled off in time enough for guests arriving. And some guests mentioned that the servers were moving too fast and they didn't have time enough to finish their dinner. July 1 was our reception. Overall I highly recommend

  The food at my wedding was amazing. Everyone enjoyed the food and I was pleased. Even if you don't use their venue I would recommend Catering by Uptown as a catering service. The wedding cake was included but done by an outside company. The cake was good and it looked better than I expected. My only draw back was the only flavor we could choose was Strawberry Shortcake because it was the only flavor of there's that was good. Which wouldn't have been so bad but when you have strawberry's in a cake it gets moldy fast.

  Catering by Uptown did an amazing job with the food for our wedding! I'm glad we were able to attend a free pre-wedding tasting event, seeing as how we didn't get much of anything to eat during our wedding haha. All of our guests are still reminiscing about the crab cakes and the wedding cake! I can't wait for our 1st anniversary to eat our top tier of our custom made cake! Definitely would recommend for any event!

  We had our wedding at Catering by Uptown's The Villa and we were very pleased with the way our special day went. My husband and I paid for the wedding ourselves and had a very tight budget. We considered a backyard wedding just to save money, but after we found The Villa we knew that Catering by Uptown was the way to go! I am so happy that we found this place! Not only were they affordable, but they are so much more than just a pretty place to get married.
  
  First, they give you a personal planning website to help you remember all the things you need to do to prepare for your big day (I found this very helpful as we could not afford a wedding planner so I was doing all of it myself.) The planning team at the The Villa, I worked mostly with Miranda, was very helpful and answered a lot of questions and even gave me some ideas for the big day. The Villa also provides the catering, the bar, a delicious wedding cake, and even a day-of coordinator! They are a one-stop shop for some of the really important parts of a wedding.
  
  Our day-of coordinator, Aimee, was great. Super organized and pretty much never stopped moving throughout the day to make sure everything was running smoothly. We had a few bumps along the way and Amiee solved them quickly and efficiently. The food and bar service was great! Our guests loved everything that was served. Catering by Uptown has a huge menu to choose from. We had a hard time choosing because everything was so good! And our wedding cake, we went with Strawberry Shortcake, was beautiful and delicious!!!!!
  
  Overall our event went smoothly and our guests (including us) left with a smile on their faces! The venue has lots of beautiful places inside and out for photos and the staff seemed happy to be there! We had a wonderful day! Whether you are on a budget or not, Catering by Uptown is a great place to have your wedding!
  
  
  

  We had our wedding at Catering by Uptown's The Villa and we were very pleased with the way our special day went. My husband and I paid for the wedding ourselves and had a very tight budget. We considered a backyard wedding just to save money, but after we found The Villa we knew that Catering by Uptown was the way to go! I am so happy that we found this place! Not only were they affordable, but they are so much more than just a pretty place to get married.
  
  First, they give you a personal planning website to help you remember all the things you need to do to prepare for your big day (I found this very helpful as we could not afford a wedding planner so I was doing all of it myself.) The planning team at the The Villa, I worked mostly with Miranda, was very helpful and answered a lot of questions and even gave me some ideas for the big day. The Villa also provides the catering, the bar, a delicious wedding cake, and even a day-of coordinator! They are a one-stop shop for some of the really important parts of a wedding.
  
  Our day-of coordinator, Aimee, was great. Super organized and pretty much never stopped moving throughout the day to make sure everything was running smoothly. We had a few bumps along the way and Amiee solved them quickly and efficiently. The food and bar service was great! Our guests loved everything that was served. Catering by Uptown has a huge menu to choose from. We had a hard time choosing because everything was so good! And our wedding cake, we went with Strawberry Shortcake, was beautiful and delicious!!!!!
  
  Overall our event went smoothly and our guests (including us) left with a smile on their faces! The venue has lots of beautiful places inside and out for photos and the staff seemed happy to be there! We had a wonderful day!   My fiance decided to go with Catering by Uptown after working with Peggy. She was amazing she showed us two locations and we fell in love with The Villa. Once we booked we were assigned a planner named Shonda who was very responsive and knew the company well. She provided efficient service however about 2 months before our wedding she moved on from Uptown. We were then assigned Marissa who was luckily just as amazing. She worked very closely with us to plan out our day. The only complaints I have are that Uptown does not do complimentary rehearsal time. You do have to pay and its honestly not worth it for a couple of hours. We ended up having our rehearsal at a nearby community center for a much cheaper rate. Also, the fact that they service a lot of couples can sometimes make you feel like you are just a number but if you are assigned a good planner, it definitely makes a difference. On the day of the wedding Marissa worked closely with our day of coordinator to make sure we were timely and that things ran smoothly. The service and food was A+! All of our guests are still raving about the food from cocktail hour to dinner service! Everything was hot and delicious. Another piece of advice as you are looking for venues, don't forget to budget for the service charges and tax! The Villa is pretty much a "one-stop shop" they provided linens, glassware, flatware, chargers, all the food, bar, a basic centerpiece (we did decide to go with our own), and cake. Unfortunately, in that time, the person we had originally been communicating with ended up leaving the company and I think as a result, we were sort of forgotten. There was a point where I called every day for almost two weeks trying to figure out contract timing to work it out with my reception venue and no one ever returned my call. I eventually had to work the problem out with a receptionist. My husband and I also went to one of their tasting events after we had already booked them and the food wasn't very good. However, on the actual ceremony day, the food was awesome and we definitely ate a lot of it! On the day of the wedding, our original day-of person couldn't make it, so Mary ended up being our day-of coordinator. She was great and ran things very smoothly. I was expecting to be bombarded with questions on the wedding day, but I barely even knew the vendors were there because they worked everything out between themselves. All of the decor they provided for the ceremony was beautiful and when I provided my own flowers, menu cards, place cards, and table names, they took care of setting all of those up as well. Ultimately, I was thrilled with the result because our reception turned out beautiful, but if you are someone who needs a lot of reminders to complete tasks and needs to constantly be in contact with all of your vendors up until the wedding, Catering by Uptown is probably not for you. I felt that with the price we paid for their services, the least they could have done was return my call regarding the contract. However, if you are well-organized and willing to put the vast majority of your wedding reception into the hands of someone else, they will pull through.

  Just had one of the worst experiences of my life. We had our wedding at the Waverly mansion yesterday and it was a total disaster. The only things that went right were things that we took care of like the entertainment. Our wedding coordinator Katelyn, who only recently started working for the company, despite numerous verbal assurances that she would be there for every little detail, the day of was no where to be found half of the time and had an attitude right as we arrived about "it not being her job to herd guests to the ceremony, that's what the signs are for." Yes, I think it was your job and I also think it was Uptown by Catering's job to assure the safety of the guests of the wedding. All of our gift money from guests, thousands of dollars, was stolen from our vehicles while we were celebrating. This happened before 9 and I was not notified until after 11 once all of the money had already been taken. There should have been some kind of security lights (there was one orange light across the street) cameras, or a security person and there was nothing. Then staff members were overheard by guests saying "the checks are in the car." Although they of course claimed no knowledge of anything when we discovered the robbery.
  
  I'm not even going to mention the numerous other small things (the groomsmen not getting their boutineers and the music completely stopping during the dinner and I had to search, again, for Katelyn to help, bartender disappearing numerous times so my guests had to serve themselves, the gift basket where money was also located being placed outside of the tent where we couldn't see it, I could go on)
  
  They will say whatever you want to hear to get you to book and then once they have your money your concerns do not matter. Please save your money (and don't get it stolen) and choose another company for your big event.
