Truly one of the best wedding photographers you can hire!

Cat Pennenga is without a doubt the best photographer, wedding organizer, and friend my wife and I found while planning our wedding. Cat was both friendly and professional and was so easy to get along with from the very beginning. She went above and beyond and voluntarily came to our pre-wedding rehearsal to help us decide where to take our wedding pictures. On the day of the wedding, she blended seamlessly into the crowd and was always there for my wife and I emotionally. The quality of her pictures speak for themselves. They are of the highest quality with the best mix of spontaneity and staged portraits without appearing over-edited. The complimentary online wedding portfolio is very well designed and our photos were available for high-resolution download for 1 year. Each time my wife and I look through our wedding album, it feels like we have been transported back to that magical day. Thank you Cat for everything you have done for us. You are truly a gifted photographer and will always be one of our best friends.

I love getting to relive our wedding day!

Cat Pennenga did an absolutely amazing job with our photos! Cat did both our engagement and wedding day photos! I don’t know how she did it, but she managed to capture the personalities of everyone in our wedding party. The photos she took are so special to us. After talking to her once, our decision was easy and I’m so glad we chose to work with Cat! She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and the shots she got are beautiful!

Amazing photographer

Cat was so patient, so personable and made the entire experience so enjoyable and relaxing. Our pictures were gorgeous and depicted exactly how the day looked and felt. I would recommend her to anyone planning an event.

Couldn't Be Happier With Our Wedding Photos!!

We were blown away at how beautiful our wedding photos came out! Cat did such an amazing job. We received so many compliments on our photos. Cat is amazing

Where to even begin.. Cat is truly AMAZING! She did both my engagement shoot and wedding photography. Cat was super pleasant to work with, and laid back. She made the process very easy, and helped me bring my vision to life. Not only are her pictures amazing, but she is truly a pleasure to be around. I like to think that I can be a bit awkward when taking pictures (especially solo shots), and Cat made me feel so comfortable. Even though we had only met twice, I felt like I had known her forever! She truly made us feel special and comfortable which lead to amazing shots. Even our friends raved about how great she was. On top of that, we had some rain on our wedding day which caused some last minute changes, but she was such an expert and pro in still getting all the dream pictures we wanted. Thank you so much Cat!

Dream Wedding Photographer

Cat was the most incredible photographer I could ever dream of having. She was so detail oriented and helped coordinate logistics. We had so much fun hanging out with her on our wedding day, and she was incredibly sweet, thoughtful, organized, and took the most gorgeous photos. She even put together a little surprise montage days after our wedding! My family and I will definitely be using Cat for all of our future events!

Amazing photographer

Cat was absolutely amazing to work with! We had a beautiful ceremony at the historic Sarasota county courthouse followed by dinner at The Ritz Carlton. We had to adjust out plans a bit due to Covid. Cat was extremely helpful to us during a stressful time leading up to our day. Our ceremony was absolutely perfect. Cat took photos at both of our locations. She was such a pleasure to work with! She was patient, attentive and has a great attention to detail. We can’t thank Cat enough for capturing our special day with stunning photographs. We highly recommend Cat, you could not ask for a better photographer!

Wonderful!

We hired Cat for our courthouse wedding and did sunrise photos at the beach. She was awesome! We were a bit nervous because we know getting pictures taken can sometimes be a bit awkward, but she made us feel very comfortable and at ease from the get go. She also gave us a sneak peek later on that day! We got our photos back and adore every single one of them. I would definitely recommend her and will book her for future couples photos.

Simply the best.

I cannot recommend Cat enough. Her and her team were honestly one of the best, most memorable parts of our day. Cat was patient, calm and on top of everything. She even took the time to attend our rehearsal the morning before and go over any last minute changes, and the plan for the big day. She was so comforting and professional. She helped me arrange my first look with my dad which was something that was very special to me (lots of happy tears!!) and captured all the special details of my wedding. She did not miss a single detail and was flexible on the day of when others asked for photos and kept our interests first. We are in love with our wedding photos and the quality of her work. We truly can't put into words the pleasure it was to work with Cat and we are so happy she is doing another wedding in our family and to continue working with her!

Fabulous experience overall!

We feel so lucky to have had Cat with us on our wedding day as our photographer. She was flexible and willing to create a customized wedding package perfect for us that included our rehearsal dinner. On the wedding day, she coordinated and curated so many different moments to make sure every memory was captured perfectly. She also made us feel so calm and relaxed on the wedding day, which was so appreciated. Our families could not stop talking about the incredible photographer who was so sweet and all over everything! We just got our photos back last month and are thrilled. They are so good. We highly recommend Cat for any wedding photo needs!

Highly Recommend

We were really interested in Cat after viewing her portfolios online. Something that really caught our eye was how much she paid attention to all the little details. She was clearly very talented and creative with her photos. I called to chat with her further and our conversation was what sealed the deal. Cat was extremely professional and relatable, it felt as if she were a friend. She made me feel comfortable instantly as we talked on the phone about how I envisioned our engagement pictures.

Cat’s service is absolutely wonderful. She was very receptive of my ideas and helpful in building upon them. The thought of having someone take pictures of you for hours was something that made Chris and I feel uncomfortable. Cat made these potentially uncomfortable sessions feel easy and natural through both our engagement session and our wedding day. Not only did she provide us beautiful photos to remember this super special time, she was also very helpful in the days leading up to the wedding. Cat attended our rehearsal with us to scope out where we wanted our first look and formal portraits taken. This extra effort meant the world to us and made all the difference in our photos. By the end of her service, I was sad to see her leave. She was such an important part of our wedding and was excellent to work with.

Destination Weddings are difficult

The logistics of a destination wedding can be quite difficult to navigate. Cat was awesome to work with. She helped not only with suggestions about photos but also local restaurants for rehearsal dinner and other events. I couldn't be happier. Oh the pictures are amazing too. ;)

Really excellent service top to bottom. The wedding and engagement photos were AMAZING! She made us feel so comfortable and was able to capture so many great details, and moments. You can tell she puts in a ton of work editing to make sure they come out looking spectacular. Cat was also very professional and reliable. From the very moment we spoke on the phone, I knew it was a match made in wedding photography heaven! Cat is so welcoming, warm, and wonderful! She and her team are professional while familial. They set everyone at ease while accomplishing the shots you've always known you wanted and sometimes never knew you wanted. Cat is a true visionary as a talented creative and as a business woman. She runs an incredibly polished system that allows the bride and groom to get all the details out of the way so all they, their party, and guests have to do is be present, look pretty, and have fun. Cat was amazing! She made everyone feel so comfortable and was the perfect addition to our day. Cat even stopped by our rehearsal to grind out the details and ensure a smooth wedding day. She worked with us in advance to come up with a list of the pictures we wanted and she was SO efficient on the day of - everyone commented on how easy the whole thing was, and we even had time to enjoy the cocktail hour. Cat is a real gem. As I planned my wedding from out of town I was able to communicate with her easily over the phone and via email. When I was unsure of where I wanted my family portraits taken, Cat came to my rehearsal to walk around the site and scope out the best locations with me. Even though my husband and I hadn't taken engagement photos, Cat made us look and feel great during our shoot. She was also able to sweetly direct a sometimes rowdy bridal group with ease. Our photos look beautiful, and I was really happy that she captured not only staged portraits, but beautiful candids of our friends and family. I loved, loved, loved working with Cat, and would highly recommend her to any couple!

Your wedding day goes by so quick, there is so much build up and planning and then it is gone in a flash, a vague memory, almost like a dream. Photographs provide you with reminders of that memory, that special day, it really did happen!
One of the best decisions we could have made during the entire wedding planning process was choosing Cat Pennenga Photography to capture our wedding. She was very organized and professional, kept us on schedule, and made sure we captured all the moments we wanted. She always made us feel like a priority which was very comforting throughout the planning process. She even created a thorough timeline of our day that we could share as needed, which earned several compliments from our vendors. Once again, Cat was incredibly organized and efficient with her preparations.
If you want the best photographer who will take the time to understand your unique relationship and capture your wedding in the most beautiful and creative way then you must work with Cat. Her remarkable talent and true passion is portrayed in all of her photographs. Kyle and I felt that our photographs reflected our love, our personalities and captured moments we shared in the most stunning way. Cat even helped is include our furbaby Dexter in some of the photographs! Our entire experience was flawless, and thanks to her and her breathtaking photos, we will remember it for years to come. We knew she was great, but she surpassed all of our expectations!

We live across the street, and were unable to meet Cat until our wedding day, this past Saturday (October 21). As it goes with photos, it will take some time to get them back, but I wanted to share our amazing experience with Cat in terms of the wedding day photos.
We have some interesting family dynamics (step-mothers, divorces, etc), and we were apprehensive about the family photos. Cat was very professional and gave us a timeline way in advance that included some of these "awkward" extras well before the big group shots - that way they could leave and attend the cocktail hour without seeing the rest of the family in a big shoot. Cat made us feel super comfortable in our bride/groom shots, and we were able to be ourselves. At the reception, I honestly forgot she was there until she said goodbye at the very end - but I know lots of photos were taken! She was able to capture the moments without ever feeling "in-your-face" with the camera. I'll update once we get our photos back, but I am very confident they will match the service we had on our wedding day! Thank you Cat!

Love love love love Cat and her team!!! She shot our engagement photos about a month before and they came out incredible I knew the wedding could only get better. And duh it did!! My husband and I booked Cat Pennenga to photograph our wedding and reception this weekend at Historic Spanish Point. Although the weather brought cold temperatures, she and her assistant Juliana were so accommodating, professional, and kind. I loved spending the day capturing the beauty of our venue as well as the love between my husband and me. We had so much fun, and I couldn't be happier with all of the moments she photographed. We hired Cat after interviewing with several other photographers. She is a super sweet, easy going person to work with, but she is also very professional and gets the job done. We hired her to take our engagement photo's and to photograph our wedding day. Everyone that has seen our pictures has mentioned how beautiful they are and what a great job she did. Cat and her team were very responsive and wonderful to work with! One of the best elements was how they were able to capture all the important moments without being intrusive to us or our guests. They did a spectacular job of highlighting the looks and details important to us and blended in so well throughout the day/evening. The Fancy Booth was a huge hit with everyone. Cat Pennenga was incredible to work with. She photographed our rehearsal dinner as well so we got the opportunity to spend some time with her the night before our wedding which was great. She was patient and kind on the wedding day and very on top of her game as far as getting things in order goes! We had 7 bridesmaids and 7 groomsmen as well as 3 flower girls and a ring bearer who were under the age of 6. She was able to capture all of the photos I wanted and then some. She made me feel very comfortable throughout the whole night and she had a second shooter with her that really helped when it came to capturing all of the details. The photos themselves exceeded all of my expectations and it is so amazing to relive that day. I would hire Cat again in a heartbeat!!

Cat is amazing! She is one in a million. So kind, patient, and hardworking, yet she could grab the attention of even the most talkative in our bunch. Oh, and she was great with the kiddos; we had 5 in our wedding party! We received a sneak peak of our photos just a few days after our Big Day and they were AMAZING!! Cat exceeded our expectations and I could not be happier with her talent!

And you HAVE to book her Fancy Booth!! Our guests were raving about it!! The props are adorable and so much fun, and the photos are amazing!!

The moment my husband and I got engaged, I told him we need to have Cat photograph our wedding--as much for her kind, caring demeanor as for her enormous amounts of talent behind the lens. From our initial consultation to our wedding itself, Cat was the epitome of professionalism, providing advice and support throughout the whole journey. Cat Pennenga is a photographer in a class by oneself, as well as an artist with the most sincere passion for her work. When my fiance and I first saw her artwork in her portfolio online it was love at first sight, and we knew we had to set up a consultation. And then we met Cat in person and we were even more ecstatic about her work because we could tell by our interaction with her that she cared so much about it. She listened so well and really heard what we had to say in regard to what we wanted in our photographs. In addition to her own touch, she took such great pictures of exactly what we asked for. We received the best of both worlds within our photo galleries; Cat's creativity and our personal wishes. As a bride planning a wedding from a thousand miles away, Cat's impressive organized tools made this piece of planning stress free. Finding a photographer was my most important factor and Cat exceeded what I was looking for. The only thing my husband and I regretted was not getting to shoot our engagement session with her. We did get her Fancy Booth photo booth for our reception and it was quite the hit. She captured so many beautiful photos, we really love them all. Working with Cat was a true pleasure, we highly recommend her to capture your wedding day!

Cat was the most AMAZING person to work with and I would highly recommend her for any event!!! I knew she was the perfect photographer for my husband and I after our first meeting. Cat was excellent to work with and very easy going/flexible for our needs. As a couple we weren't too keen on overly staged or cheesy (traditional) photos and she was great about working with us. Cat also takes beautiful pictures which helps!

Cat Pennenga was absolutely phenomenal as my wedding photographer!! I could not speak more highly of her and I will recommend her to everyone I know! The price was more than fair for everything it included. I got an engagement shoot, wedding shoot, and the Fancy Booth at my wedding, which my guests absolutely loved!! I was avidly looking for a photographer who could get some more candid styled photos as apposed to cheesy, posed, forced photos. I was extremely nervous and felt a little uncomfortable in front of the camera but she was able to capture everything perfectly and effortlessly. Now, I have the most beautiful and perfect wedding photos to look at for the rest of my life! Cat is the best at what she does!!!

Cat Pennenga is an wedding AMAZING photographer!!! I am SO thankful that I found her. She has such artistic, creative visions and will provide lasting memories of your wedding day! Everyone that has seen my wedding photos have said they are some of the most beautiful wedding photos they have seen. We had some weather "setbacks" that caused some last minute changes....Cat was so flexible and still managed to get tons of amazing shots, despite the decrease in planned "photo time" due to unexpected weather. Our wedding was at the Ritz Carlton Beach Club. Cat spent the day at the hotel with the girls in the room getting ready and captured some of the most beautiful shots of the accessories, shoes, etc. The accessory photos turned out so beautiful and artistic that I have since made a wall of 8x10 black and white framed photos in my bathroom and get so many compliments. If you are looking for the best wedding photog in Sarasota....Cat is your gal! I will definitely use her in the future for family pics, etc.

The first step I took upon getting engaged was to find a photographer for my wedding day. I figured that after all is said and done, photos would be the only tangible thing I had to look back on. Cat was absolutely the best choice I made throughout the whole process. She is not only organized, professional, detail oriented and extremely talented, but she is just a wonderful person as well! Cat was amazing! We loved everything about our experience with her. Writing this review is so easy and I knew I wanted to the minute I met Cat. She has this grace and ease about her that makes you immediately trust anything she will do. Her portfolio speaks for itself but seeing her work in person you just know that she is capturing everything special about your moment and more. She is truly magical!

I contacted Cat after searching online for a photographer in Sarasota and let me tell you, the moment I saw Cat’s photos I was sold! Cat responded the same day and went above and beyond helping me with planning and details. Since we were not familiar with the area, she gave me recommendations on hair, makeup, restaurants, night life, photo op locations, etc. all which were wonderful.

I met Cat and her awesome assistant at the salon. She immediately took control of how she wanted to photograph - She even helped me pick out my hair piece and helped me get dressed – way above and beyond! It was like I had a friend with me even though I came alone.

We had a private ceremony at the historic courthouse in downtown Sarasota where again Cat was fantastic – she was even our witness! After the ceremony she took pictures of us in various parts of the CH and we were so impressed with the various angles and poses she came up with.

We later met our family for family portraits – Cat again took control in her sweet way and was able to get all of the pictures I wanted – and more – in the sweltering Florida heat like the pro she is. She was patient but efficient and my family adored her!

Although we had a private ceremony, I felt like Cat treated us with the same attention that a ceremony in a castle with royalty would require. Her planning, professionalism, attention to detail, obvious talent, and sweet, cool personality was exactly what I needed and well above what I was hoping for on my special day. I recommend her whole heartedly and promise that you will not be disappointed!

It was an absolute pleasure working with Cat on our wedding photos for our destination beach wedding. It can be rather difficult planning a wedding from several states away, however Cat made us feel very comfortable with our decision to use her as our wedding photographer from day one. We really appreciated that she took time out of her day the evening before the wedding to come meet us in person. We had a somewhat difficult group for our wedding that were included in our pictures and she did not seemed stressed by this at all and all of the pictures turned out amazing. We would highly recommend anyone use Cat for any photo event.

I loved, loved, loved working with Cat Pennenga Photography! I knew upon first meeting Cat that she was the photographer for me - classic shots, none of the cheese. She was a dream to work with and was so sweet throughout the whole process. I never felt like we were taking any photos for the sake of taking photos - she made such an effort to capture just the "right" shot and make us feel comfortable the whole time.

Cat went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day was captured perfectly and by above and beyond I don't just mean the extra nice and thorough checklists she provided to make sure I got each and every picture I wanted (I've. Detail shots/ photo ideas from my Pinterest board/family etc). She went above and beyond by doing so much more EXTRA I couldn't even name it all... But to clue you in on a few- she got in contact with the head caterer at our reception venue and with our wedding coordinator to make sure the space allotted for the fancy booth (BEST PHOTO BOOTH EVER by the way) was perfect and I was happy with it -- I live in MA and wedding in Sarasota so I couldn't be there in person-- she also made a point to be present at my rehearsal which was definitely not included in any contract and that alone shows Cat is an extraordinary photographer, one who's passion shines through and after you meet once you will know you are in great hands. Did I mention after the rehearsal she even went to the other locations we were interested in having bride and groom portraits taken so she could make sure we were at the right place at the right time?? This was done on her own and again, not specifically written in any contract. Her prices are a BARGAIN for what you will get bc the services and quality Cat provides is honestly priceless! I haven't commented on her assistants Juliana and Carmen Montane who are also amazing photographers, so sweet and added so much to our wedding! I think that there are 3 Things WORTH the price tag when getting married, hair, makeup and most important : photography!!! If you want a perfect photographer please take my word and book with Cat Pennenga- I guarantee you will be as happy as I am!

As a photographer, I was concerned about finding someone to photograph my wedding, but Cat Pennenga was the perfect choice. Her work is beautiful. Her style is unique, and she has excellent technical skill. She was also a joy to work with. She asked all the right questions and had a clear understanding of what we wanted and what we did not want. She is very professional and dependable, but warm and kind at the same time. We had a small wedding of 30 people, and I felt like Cat was a real part of our day. She made us feel relaxed and even got my husband to smile and laugh in front of the camera, which is not easy to do. I just can't say enough about how wonderful her work is! Cat was an absolute joy to work with. My husband and I had a non-traditional element being that we decided to elope and had a VERY short amount of time to find the one detail that we really wanted to be included- a great photographer! I contacted Cat after reading highly-praised reviews. Since we live in Minnesota and the elopement was in Florida, we had to act fast. Cat was professional and empathetic to our needs and arranged everything in record time. Most importantly, she utilized her talents to create memorable and artistic photographs of our intimate day. We receive so many compliments on our wedding photos to this day, especially how they truly incorporate elements that represent us as a couple. From the first meeting I had with Cat I knew that I wanted her to photograph our wedding. We first had a fun engagement session and the pictures came out beyond anything I expected. Cat is amazing!! She did both our engagement and wedding photos, and we couldn't be happier. Her attention to detail and intensity for getting exactly the right pictures is just amazing. Our wedding day experience with Cat Pennenga Photography was fantastic! Not only did Cat and her assistant capture every last detail of our special day, she also made a point before our wedding to make a very detailed list of every moment and everyone we wanted pictures with. My fiance and I had the most wonderful experience with Cat Pennenga for our engagement photo session. To start, she was so flexible and accommodating—she worked with our busy schedules to set our shoot date, and also talked in detail with us in advance so she would know exactly what we were looking to get out of the session. But even more, Cat has such a great eye and so many creative ideas, she took it above and beyond. The photos were really special compared to the usual posed, cookie cutter engagement pictures that are so common. They turned out so unique and better than we really could have imagined.

Cat made both of us feel so comfortable during the session, which really brought out the best in us for the shoot. In fact, we loved her so much, we booked her for our wedding too! I would highly recommend Cat for the newly-engaged couple looking for a special experience to commemorate such an exciting time in their life.

I loved Cat's work from the beginning. The way her eye catches little moments throughout the day was mesmerizing - I was so excited the day of my wedding that I wouldn't have gotten to remember the details without Cat's attention to capturing them all in such an artistic way. Cat is calm, collected, and very sweet, which was great on the day of my wedding. I felt very comfortable with her, and never pressured, though she kept us on schedule and had a great pace. I'll start off by saying we haven't seen our photos yet, so I can't really speak to the quality of the final product. If they turn out to be less than stellar, I'll update this.

But I don't expect that to happen, because Cat was amazing. We were looking for two things in choosing a photographer - someone who takes amazing photos, obviously (based on their portfolio), and someone with the right personality. We didn't want someone who was going to be obtrusive, sticking their cameras into our guests faces the whole night. At the same time, we needed someone who was comfortable being a little bit of a dictator in order to get the perfect shot - someone who could corral 20 excited and possibly tipsy people into a frame and get them all looking the same direction and smiling at the same time. And since neither me or my guy are especially comfortable having our picture taken, we needed someone who would give us direction - tell us where to put our hands and how to tilt our heads and so on. And of course we wanted someone who would make us feel and look comfortable and not totally posed, while being totally posed.

A tall order. . .but Cat was all of those things. She sent us a detailed worksheet, so we could list the photos we wanted, including special details (like I had part of my grandmother's wedding dress on my bouquet), and she made sure to get shots of everything we asked for. I had even sent her my parents' wedding photo to recreate, and she had it printed out and in her pocket to make sure we got it right. She was great at getting my huge and unruly family into position, without being rude or impatient, and the whole night, I saw her and her assistant shooting, but they were never obtrusive or distracting, She is a little more expensive than the other photographers we interviewed, but well worth it.

Cat obviously loves capturing moments of love, and that shows in her work. Highly recommend!

Cat was great to work with! She walked around the venue with us before the big day to pick out spots and sites for photos which made the day of so much easier. It took a little longer to get the photos back than expected, but they were well worth the wait. She listened to my requests, which were a lot. The photos are truly amazing!

Is it time for me to write reviews?! They helped me so much, so let me pass it on!

We chose Cat because we felt like she understood what we wanted in our wedding photos. Nothing too posed, more casual. We booked her a year before our wedding, and I am happy that we did it then -- I know she would have been snatched up if we hadn't.

I absolutely, 1000%, adore our wedding photos. They are beautiful, and I cannot stop looking at them, sending them to friends, and thinking about them. They make me smile, and I am so happy that we have them. We also had a video made, which I like, but I don't love like I love the photos. Cat is very talented, and it shows.

That said, Cat seems overbooked. That's great for her, but that's not so great for us as a customer. She seems stretched thin -- and why wouldn't she be? She's wonderful at what she does. Probably, at some point, she will have to say "no" to booking so many events.

We got our photos 3.5 months after our wedding. I tried really hard not to email her or ask about the pictures. And, frankly, the lack of updates was hard. The pictures are all you want to see! I could barely stand it. And, it made me frustrated in Cat. I just wanted to feel like a valued customer -- that my wedding was worth editing, and worth getting back to me, and if the pictures were going to be late, then I wish she would have called me. Just a simple phone call and that's it.

I'm writing this review as I think it is genuinely helpful feedback for Cat. For all you brides and grooms out there, if she's free on your day, you should WITHOUT A DOUBT book Cat and her team. She's insanely talented, and she will make you and your guests look absolutely wonderful on your wedding day.

Cat takes beautiful photos and works with couples to identify exactly what they want prior to the wedding. Cat was collaborative and professional prior to the wedding, and she and her assistant worked so hard the day of our wedding. I gave her two stars for responsiveness since after the wedding she has missed the deadline for when she said photos would be ready two times. I would have appreciated her proactively reaching out to me to let me know it would take longer, but rather, I've had to reach out to her. That is my only complaint. Other than that, Cat does a beautiful job and is great to work with!
