Our wedding cake was so tasty, I was so happy with it! Working with Caroline's Cakes was wonderful, they accommodated all of my many changes happily and the cake turned out exactly as I had imagined it. Many other bakeries we talked to required us to have a minimum serving size for a cake and would not make a smaller tiered cake, but Caroline's Cakes made our tiny two-tiered cake without question. It was so delicious and cute, just what I wanted and for a great price! Thanks Caroline's! -

During the hunt for our wedding cake baker we knew that there would be limited options for us. There are very few nut-free bakeries in the DC/MD/VA area, so we felt very lucky to come across Caroline’s Cakes! The entire facility is nut-free so there is no risk of cross-contamination, and they also offer gluten-free cakes (which was perfect for our guests with gluten allergies). Our guests raved about our cake (yellow with caramel filling and icing), and several guests had seconds and asked to take any extra pieces home. The cake was so delicious--highly recommend! -

I have a serious nut allergy so it was important to find a bakery that could make us not only a nut free cake, but in a facility that wasn't processing any nuts. It was also important that our cake be delicious. We went for our cake tasting and were blown away by all the flavors but fell in love with the carrot cake. We had wanted cream cheese icing but because we had so many guests, the cake consultant was concerned the icing could melt - she advised us to do a cream cheese filling and a caramel buttercream frosting and it was perfect. We had guests tell us that wrangled three slices of cake they thought it was so delicious. We did not save our top layer but a month after our wedding, went back to the bakery to get a little 8" version of our cake to enjoy with our families. -

Hands down best wedding cake ever. It was beautiful AND delicious. I gave them a picture of what I wanted, and they made and delivered a cake that was even better than I imagined! They even added on six gluten free cupcakes a few weeks before our wedding date-- they turned out fantastic as well. Do yourself a favor and pick Caroline's to make your wedding cake!!! -

We ordered our wedding cakes from Caroline's and they were fantastic!! We did a cake bar with 6 different round cakes in varying sizes and flavors and our guests raved about all of them, especially the lemon cake and chocolate cake. Usually wedding cakes are mediocre but these were definitely NOT your typical wedding cake. Truly a gourmet gourmet dessert! Look no further if you need a cake for your event, call Caroline's. We can't wait for our anniversary to eat cake again :) -

We loved our cake. The taste was PERFECT! The look is what we asked for and the price was reasonable and lower than any other vendors we visited. We are very glad we stumbled upon Caroline's Cakes and love the city of Annapolis! -

The cupcakes with fillings were so delicious. When we went for the tasting we fell in love with all the flavors. In the months to come before the wedding my mouth would water with the thought of the cupcakes on the wedding day. -

If you are ever in the area, take a few minutes to pop in for a fresh cupcake. My family and I found Caroline's Cakes for our wedding cake. We were certain we had made the right choice as soon as we sat for the tasting. I was very specific on two requirements: 1-No fondant. Blech. 2- I wanted a cutting cake for the bridal party and parents, and sheet cake to serve the rest of our guests. It was a pretty big wedding and Caroline's was SUPER accommodating. Best of all, the cake was perfect in every way. Soft, fluffy, not oily, but moist and rich. Their icing is the lightest, most beautiful substance to ever grace cake. It was so good that my husband fell in love with the flavors he doesn't even prefer. Their almond cake and lemon cake are the best! Ours was a lemon cake with raspberry grenache and vanilla buttercream frosting. They offer many options for the surface texture, design, and decoration of the icing. They are even willing to leave it plain if you prefer to decorate it yourself. -

Jessica was wonderful to work with. She made a 3 tier square cake, with beautiful ornate shells and beads. The tasting event was quite the success as well, with cupcakes representing the different cakes. She has a lot of talent. The shells looked completely real and were great for our beach ceremony. She even delivered to Rehoboth Beach Delaware. -

Caroline cakes is absolutely delicious! We were able to have 3 different flavors 1 for each tier. Every single layer was to die for. The staff is incredibly sweet and willing to go out of their way to give you what you want they work with all of the other vendors to make sure everything is perfect! They even recreated the top layer of your cake on your year anniversary so you do not have to eat old frozen cake. Lets just say I ask my husband every week to buy me a wedding cake! -

Everything about using Caroline's Cakes was amazing....from the initial tasting (6 cupcakes...yum!) to the compliments we got at the wedding. Jessica (the designer) was fantastic to work with. We knew we wanted caramel but that we had 'picky eaters' coming to the wedding, so she suggested doing different cake flavors and fillings, which we had no idea we could even do! So we had a layer of vanilla, chocolate, and carrot, and set it out and let people take what they wanted. People RAVED about the cake, and actually talked about it for weeks after the wedding. What we really liked is that we could order a side cake that the stayed in the back that the hotel cut up later to help offset costs. The best part was that I asked Jessica if she could decorate the side cake to say 'happy birthday' to my husband, who's birthday was the day after the wedding, and she did it with no problem and at no extra cost. Would highly recommend to any bride, and Caroline's has two new customers for life! -

Best cake ever! Lots of flavors to choose from, it's a very light and moist cake. We've sampled a few wedding cakes in our time & at 1 wedding only did I ever ask- who made your cake!? Caroline's had been the answer & I knew they'd be the ones I'd use for mine. They have many different price points & worked with us. We did a 3-tier cake & cupcakes - the lemon cake & raspberry filling are devine! -

Delectable caramel cake, decorated beautifully and enjoyed by all. These folks are top notch. I love 'em so much we invited them to the wedding too! I can't say enough good things about Caroline's...I worked as a Marketing Director/Event Planner and we had a gal hosting her reception at my venue. The unimaginable happened and she dropped her cake on the way in. We called Caroline's and 30 minutes later a cake arrived. I wish I still lived in Maryland - I long for a slice of this cake! -

AMAZING cupcake tower!!! We had 3 separate flavors and a separate cake on top for the cake cutting ceremony. Good thing we ordered 30 extra cupcakes- they went fast! Even better- the price! I would recommend Caroline's Cakes to anyone- especially busy brides/grooms- we got a to-go tasting, commmunicated in person, over the phone and by e-mail and were able to pay over the phone! -

We initially came to Caroline's thinking we were going to order their famous Caramel Cake as our fall wedding cake. We made a tasting appointment to test a few variations on fall flavors and caramel, plus a vanilla cake with raspberry filling just to provide some variety for the tasting. Much to our surprise we were completely sold on the vanilla the moment we tasted it. As for prices, in shopping around wedding cakes in general are not cheap. SO, you want to make sure the cake you pick is beautiful AND delicious. Ours was both. I got more than a few laughs at our reception when I refused to only eat the one bite when we cut the cake... -

Overall we are pleased with our wedding cake from Caroline's Cakes. When I first called, they promptly emailed me a packet of options and pricing. Setting up the tasting session was easy, and we knew immediately that we wanted the white cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing after tasting it. Looking back, I probably would have chosen a different design pattern for our 3 tiered cake and we wound up having tons of unexpected leftovers (ordered a cake that served 80 pieces for 75 guests). Our guests complimented us on the taste of the cake and now my husband and I will enjoy the leftovers! -

We were very happy with our experience with Caroline's - from the cake tasting to the finished product. The cake was beautiful, and many people commented on how tasty it was. (We literally went plain vanilla: white cake with white buttercream frosting - even for the layers. It still was delicious.) The decorator made several suggestions as we were selecting a design, which we greatly appreciated, and we were thrilled with the result. -

Caroline's cakes are very yummy. They made us some cute cupcakes; vanilla with vanilla buttercream, chocolate with vanilla buttercream, and carrot with cream cheese icing. They went fast! Good thing we ordered extras. Cupcakes are not as fancy as regular wedding cake but it fit our theme and Caroline's is willing to do any colors or decorations you want on the cupcakes. I wish I had used flowers around the stand to make it more pretty though. I do recommend them just be very specific about decorations if you're picky. They are also very affordable and our tasting was great! -

Gorgeous cake! It looked exactly as I had designed it, and the artistry was impressive. Every delicious layer was exactly as we had requested. My only low score would probably never happen to you: our cake designer left their employment, so we felt lost in the shuffle. We made a follow-up appointment with the new decorator, and were very well satisfied with her professionalism and understanding of what we wanted. That confirmation was important. I would definitely us this bakery again -- certainly the most professional and creative baker we interviewed. -

We chose a cupcake tower with four different flavors. Our guests loved them and they tasted great. The communication was not great prior to our wedding which was slightly stressful, but after we confirmed everything with them, they were very easy to work with. They were on time, professsional, and reasonably priced. I would recommend Caroline's Cakes to anyone getting married in the area. -

The cake was great. They had a lot of choices for flavors and fillings etc and they are very generous at the tasting to make sure you get what you want. I would recommend having an exact picture or what you want the cake to look like. I didn't, and did my best to describe and send similar pictures and it turned out fine, but not what I was expecting. My biggest complaint is that they are so busy that it took a while for me to get the signed contract. For an anxious bride this could be a huge problem. Fortunately I trusted that since they had a deposit they would come through in the end...and they did. But if you are a perfectionist and want all your t's crossed and i's dotted in a certain time frame, this is not the vendor for you. But their cakes are darn good so worth a few nerves if you can handle it -

So we were wary of Caroline’s Cakes because first we missed them, and then the shop was a tiny shop in a mall. However, after tasting the cakes and going through the planning process with Chris Timko we were ecstatic at the prospects of what we were doing. We provided shells, ribbon and the idea of what we wanted and they surpassed it. Small drawbacks included small imperfections on the cake (we are the only one’s who noticed), and we weren’t really assured after looking through there photo book of cakes. The tasting was also a little hastily done. We had a hard time deciding on a topper, and ended up just leaving it in their hands. It was perfect, a picture of elegance and the best part was that everyone could not stop raving over how good it tasted. Not only that, but the price was really good compared to what we found in the surrounding areas. Our only disappointment, we never got to meet Caroline or try any of her famous cakes…hope we make it back to Annapolis soon to try the Caramel or the Coconut. Mmmm… -

When contacting them online, I did not receive a response but they were easy to work with over the phone. I love their product but as far as customization - they seem a bit overpriced. We decided to get two separate cakes - in lieu of a tiered style - which provided more cake and was less pricey. I added my own decorations to it. The taste you cannot beat though!! -

We used Carolines Cakes for our wedding. I'd give it 4 stars except there was one horrible error as they ruined the top tier of our cake and it was unusable for our wedding.
Six months prior to the wedding we had to drop off cake mixes, experiment a bit, and even find a recipe that we liked (and was safe for us as I’m lactose intolerant and my wife has a nut allergy) for our wedding. For Christmas we had them make our wedding cake. They made the cake but forgot to put the middle strawberry filling in the center. However, when I mentioned this to them, they instantly said we'll redo the cake free of charge, which they did well. Sure they got it right the second time but when it comes to weddings there is no second time.
Our wedding day arrived & everything was delivered on time. They opened the box to find that they had accidentally smashed and ruined the top tier of the cake. To make it right though (in their minds), they went out to GIANT FOOD to find a replacement. At least they did not bother us with this transition and just got it done (for this we're grateful!).
They did buy an entirely new cake for our wedding, so we ended up getting 2 cakes. Regardless, our experience at our wedding desert wise was severely compromised. My wife was not happy and when she saw our plain looking cake in front of us during cake cutting she was sorely disappointed. It did put a damper on the day, but did not ruin our event. Had we been fully reimbursed for the entire cake after the event, we may not have had the 3 star review you are reading.
Although Caroline herself was sweet and genuinely felt terrible with what transpired, she should have gone the extra mile to refund us the full cost of the cake. No matter how apologetic you are as an owner, in the end we still had no pictures with the cake we paid for. Perhaps this review is food for thought and perhaps we should have considered a different store to have bought. -
