  Kathy was amazing! My mother-in-law set up a day of cake tasting at local bakeries and Carlock's was the first. We knew leaving Carlock's that this would be our baker. During the tasting, they made individual cakes in different flavors with the flavors written in icing on the top. It was this detail that convinced us they would do a beautiful job. The service was wonderful and the price was very good. Kathy seemed genuinely excited about our design adn she pulled it off flawlessly. After we left, I called Kathy back to ask about a surprise grooms cake. I sent her photos and created the most awesome surprise cake. I'm convinced she can make a cake out of any design!!! I strongly recommend working with Carlock's Bakery.

  We could not have asked for a better wedding cake. It was beautiful and delicious. We already ate the top of the cake because we couldn't wait an entire year. All of our guests commented on how yummy the cake was. We were so impressed and happy that it didn't hurt our budget. This was probably the biggest bang for our buck. I highly recommend Carlock's.

  I went with Carlocks because on their website they claim of their signature "shell design" cake. Although I'm allergic to wheat, and Carlocks doesn't do gluten-free cake, they were still perfect for my beach-themed wedding & reception.

  I went with Carlocks because on their website they claim of their signature "shell design" cake. Although I'm allergic to wheat, and Carlocks doesn't do gluten-free cake, they were still perfect for my beach-themed wedding & reception.
  
  One of the florists I interviewed prior to my taste test said that they were on the pricier side, but they were really good, and probably worth it. She was right; their cake was very pretty darn good. My fiance & daughter came with me for a taste test (which wasn't expensive). Kathy (the person assigned to work with weddings) was so hospitable during our tasting, I felt we entered someone's home. They even gave milk to my daughter, when she asked for it. We tried four kinds: chocolate-chocolate chip, chocolate with rasberry filling, marble with chocolate, chocolate with german filling. (Yes, I tried it, because daughter and fiance looked so happy when they tasted the cake, I couldn't resist and had to try it myself.) The marble was a little sweet for our taste buds, but the CCchip and Cgerman was perfectly delicious! We picked both layers of our cake to be CCchip because not everyone likes coconut.
  
  I recommend you call them early in the morning. They're a bakery, so they open and close early. So by the time I'd think of calling them, they'd be close, or Kathy would be gone for the day, and I ended up playing phone tag with her.
  
  Kathy was so sweet. She tried to do some gluten-free cupcakes which I ordered, but on the big day they didn't show. I called a couple days later, and she apologized for not sending them because they didn't turn out right. I'm glad she made the decision not to send something that was up to their standards, esp. since they're cake is SO GOOD, that anything less would be a disappointment. (Next time, Kathy.) They were prompt in refunding my money.
  
  They were very easy to work with on my cake design. They gave me ideas to choose from, and when I didn't really have colors, and told them "beach colors", maybe teal, maybe blue, maybe coral... they said ok. They also recommended buttercream over whip cream to hold the chocolate shells up better. (which my fiance preferred, and I let him at least have that, since I picked the design)
  
  On the day of my wedding, my Shell Design cake was ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL...I ended up with a sand/tan & coral color cake. My guests oohed and awed over the real looking seashells, seahorse, starfish and the Coral cake topper, and added sand-looking frosting on the bottom, plus the pearls looked PERFECT! It was better than I imagined. (so keep your expectations low... just kidding.)
  
  My guests went back for seconds, and still rave about how great it tasted. (I had a self-serve party of 30 guests.) They even said they'd go back for thirds, had they not stuff themselves from dinner. (I have a recommendation for my caterer as well.)
  
  CARLOCK's IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. Our cake was sooooooooo delicious, I can't stop thinking of it. AND THEY WERE WORTH EVERY itchy reaction I got from eating so much of my wedding cake, too. (I ate "leftovers" for 3 days straight on my honeymoon. So did my husband. What a great way to celebrate a marriage the next day!)
