  Captial Turnaround is a terrific new DC venue

  The historic-turned-contemporary Capital Turnaround space speaks to both DC's history and the vibrant city of today. The technology and video capabilities at are dazzling and will surely add to any event.

  Ultimate Venue for Any Event

  I attended an event here and all I can say is WOW! This venue has it all, from the industrial concept which is a planner's dream to the open spaces and huge auditorium, Capital Turnaround is sure the place to host your event in D.C. The event I attended hosted by IMPACT Collective showed the great potential the venue has to offer and truly made me excited for the future of events here in DC.

  Wonderful Space for our Welcome Party

  We held a welcome party for our wedding guests at Capital Turnaround the night before our wedding. It was an amazing experience and our guests loved it! The space itself is really cool and set with beautiful furniture, so it requires very little extra decoration. Eddie and the Impact Collective team made our party run so smoothly. Also, using their preferred vendors made it so easy on us. It was the perfect way to kick off our wedding weekend!

  Excellent Venue - Great Staff

  I had my wedding welcome party at the Capital Turnaround. From the get-go, the venue had a list of vendors that it regularly works with, so we didn’t have to do much on that front. They were also very flexible with drop-off/set up and pickup. The venue itself is very spacious - had about 110 guests and there was so much space to move around, and we didn't even use up all the space. Once it was time to end the event, we were able to make an announcement and instruct everyone to leave rather than abruptly asking everyone to leave the minute the event ended. The on-site team worked with us leading up to the event and ensured that everything ran smoothly. The space also comes with several couches, tables, and other lounge furniture. Our guests loved the space and the modern feel. Capital Turnaround is a great place for any event and I highly recommend having any part of your wedding weekend here!

  Editorial Session

  Captial Turnaround is such a beautiful spot to go to for events. I primarily went there for an editorial wedding shoot, and found the spot to be very unique and photogenic, because of the lights and the big windows they have in the main room! It has a very industrial feel on the inside and it coincides with the details in every room. I can definitely see why couples chose this as there venue, there's so much you can do with the space!
  
  Not only is the venue beautiful, but the impact collective managers also made it so easy for me to get all the information and to be in contact with them all the time, till the shoot was done. During my shoot, everything was done so professionally, there was even an itinerary. Couldn't have asked for better coordinators, and managers in charge.

  Striking space for a business event

  We hosted a business event here. There was ample space and the screens installed in the venue, especially the big one in the in the auditorium, made the presentations very impactful.

  Exceptional Service!

  The Capital Turnaround and the entire staff was amazing from the very beginning to the end! Like many of events and programs during COVID— we had many ups and downs but they team was such a pleasure to work with and extremely flexible in the process.

  Launch party!

  The Capital Turnaround launch party was a wonderful event to showcase the venue! A great opportunity for clients and vendors to host parties in a new space. The venue is wonderful for all types of receptions, great flexibility with floorplans and in house AV options. Location is also very convenient!

  We couldn't have imagined a more perfect venue for our wedding. The modern yet industrial feel is just what we were looking for and we never encountered another venue that was comparable. The space is absolutely incredible and more recent additions to the space open up great opportunities for things like cocktail hour. The in-house decor and furnishings (in addition to the AV system) go a long way as well--we didn't feel like we needed to get too much more in order to create the ambiance we were looking for. On top of that, every member of the team and all the vendors were a pleasure to work with. Besides making sure that everything was on track for the wedding, they were all cool people that cared about us separate from anything having to do with wedding logistics. We received so many positive comments from our guests about the space and the whole operation there. I can't recommend Capital Turnaround highly enough!

  Amazing unique venue!

  Capital Turnaround is such a cool, edgy industrial space. There is simply no space like it in the district! Not only is the place insanely cool but the impact team is also so great to work with. I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for that cool, industrial and especially unique venue.

  Fantastic venue but encountered challenges working with managing agent

  First, we’ll start off with the positive aspects of our experience. Capital Turnaround is a fantastic venue: it is a large event space equipped with some stylish furniture, bar space, lighting, and screens that would have been perfect for our big 300-person wedding. They also have a large auditorium, fully equipped with a stage, sound equipment, lighting, and plenty of seats to hold our event. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we had to significantly scale down our wedding into a virtual event and could not take full advantage of the venue’s amenities. However, because of Capital Turnaround’s infrastructure, we were able to use the auditorium and all the equipment available to create a memorable wedding we could seamlessly stream to our guests. Eddie, the venue manager, was flexible with us and allowed us to negotiate down our original contract for the scaled-back event, giving us use of the venue for a very reduced cost. During our wedding day, the venue coordinator, Jana, was very pleasant, professional, and cooperative with our planner and other vendors to make sure our event went smoothly behind the scenes.
  
  Now for the negative aspects of our experience. The venue manager and coordinators are part of Impact Collective. Impact Collective requires the use of their preferred vendors. We were, fortunately, able to talk Impact Collective into allowing us to use our own preferred caterer as their preferred caterers weren’t able to meet our needs. After we booked the venue, Capital Turnaround initiated a construction project and it was still under construction on our wedding date and this was not communicated to us. We are glad that we significantly scaled back our event as we would have had to contend with all the construction with our wedding guests.

In this confrontation, he was unnecessarily aggressive and patronizing, choosing to argue with her in front of us, adding to the anxieties of an already stressful pandemic wedding planning process. To his credit, Eddie did go out of his way later to call us to express his regrets over the argument. However, this still left us anxious about the possibility of future problems, although there were no additional issues.
  
  To summarize, Capital Turnaround was a fantastic venue, which allowed us to carry out the vision for our wedding we had planned, pandemic and all. However, while Impact Collective worked as part of the team to make our wedding day amazing, it was not without its challenges.

  First, we’ll start off with the positive aspects of our experience. Capital Turnaround is a fantastic venue: it is a large event space equipped with some stylish furniture, bar space, lighting, and screens that would have been perfect for our big 300-person wedding. They also have a large auditorium, fully equipped with a stage, sound equipment, lighting, and plenty of seats to hold our event. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, we had to significantly scale down our wedding into a virtual event and could not take full advantage of the venue’s amenities. However, because of Capital Turnaround’s infrastructure, we were able to use the auditorium and all the equipment available to create a memorable wedding we could seamlessly stream to our guests. Eddie, the venue manager, was flexible with us and allowed us to negotiate down our original contract for the scaled-back event, giving us use of the venue for a very reduced cost. During our wedding day, the venue coordinator, Jana, was very pleasant, professional, and cooperative with our planner and other vendors to make sure our event went smoothly behind the scenes.
  
  Now for the negative aspects of our experience. The venue manager and coordinators are part of Impact Collective. Impact Collective requires the use of their preferred vendors. We were, fortunately, able to talk Impact Collective into allowing us to use our own preferred caterer as their preferred caterers weren’t able to meet our needs. After we booked the venue, Capital Turnaround initiated a construction project and it was still under construction on our wedding date and this was not communicated to us. We are glad that we significantly scaled back our event as we would have had to contend with all the construction with our wedding guests.

  Jay & David - Thanks so much for the 4 Star Review of Capital Turnaround. We appreciate your input and kind words. It means a lot to us. Unfortunately, there are a few discrepancies that we would kindly like to clear up. First, you had asked us to waive $3,500 off of your wedding contract because you were scaling down your wedding. We didn't have to agree to these terms, however, without hesitation we gave permission and accommodated your request in order to make you feel more at ease and less stressed about the pandemic and how it affected your original vision. We wanted you to feel at peace and gave you to benefit of the doubt. Secondly, we agreed that you would only use the Auditorium due to the significantly reduced rate and change of scope. During the walk through, your wedding planner Candy suggested that you use the Main Hall Lounge for part of your wedding day. We expressed that this was not part of our revised agreement. While there was certainly a challenging tension during this discussion, the very next day, we called you to apologize for 3 minute miscommunication with Candy. We actually have the video conversation recorded if you'd like us to share it. Not only did we say "we're sorry" multiple times on the call, but also offered you to usage of ANY space in the building for photos as an attempt to remedy the situation - even though these concessions were not included in your contract. You mentioned that you appreciated that and would take us up on it which you did. We offered the 3 green rooms for getting ready and 3 lounge spaces of your choice. We said things like "this venue is your home" and "feel free to make it your own" and "please don't let any misunderstanding interfere with the positivity of your union." Also, we don't require kickbacks. With all this being said, we had sincerely apologized for any stress that was caused to you momentarily. Since we met over a year ago, we had countless positive experiences working together. We felt that for 99% of the time the vibes was good and we enjoyed working with you. In the end, you had an incredible wedding and we truly wish you the best. Thanks for sharing your feedback. We will continue to look back on your wedding with fond memories.
