We truly can’t say enough good things about Cantor Stein, and we can’t recommend her highly enough!
I was raised Jewish and my wife was raised Catholic, so we had an interfaith ceremony which Cantor Stein co-officiated with a Catholic priest. Cantor Stein worked beautifully with the priest, and together they created an incredibly meaningful ceremony that seamlessly wove elements of both of our faiths. It felt personal, respectful, and deeply special—more than we could have hoped for!
Our pre-marital counseling with Cantor Stein was just as impactful. She guided us through the entire process with such kindness, warmth, and care. She created a safe, judgment-free space for us to have important conversations—about religion, finances, and how we want to raise a family. While many of these were topics we had already discussed, having Cantor Stein there to help us navigate them in the context of our upcoming marriage made all the difference. Her perspective and guidance were truly invaluable.
Cantor Stein was amazing to work with—we absolutely love her! Even now, people still tell us how beautiful and unique our ceremony was. It was truly special, and it would not have been possible without Cantor Stein! -

Cantor Stein was truly phenomenal! She created a wedding ceremony that exceeded every expectation we had. It was deeply personal, incredibly moving, and beautifully delivered.
In the months leading up to the wedding, we met with Cantor Stein several times so she could truly get to know us as a couple. Those sessions were thoughtful, intentional, and grounding. Not only did her process help to shape the ceremony, but it also gave us space to reflect on our relationship and what marriage means to us.
That investment carried through to the ceremony itself, which felt completely authentic and uniquely ours. So many guests told us it was one of the most meaningful ceremonies they had ever experienced.
Her voice is absolutely stunning, and her presence brought such warmth and intention to every moment. The Ketubah signing was especially powerful and made us feel so connected as a new family.
We are endlessly grateful for the role she played in our wedding day and cannot recommend her highly enough! Thank you, Cantor Stein!! -

Cantor Stein was an A+ experience all around! We are so grateful we chose her to officiate our wedding..when we look back on our wedding, we feel so lucky and good about our ceremony in particular. Her background as a therapist added a really special dimension to her process. Her therapeutic approach to get to know us beforehand made the ceremony so much more meaningful that we could have imagined. She officiated a beautiful, warm, connected ceremony. We couldn’t be more grateful to have had Cantor Stein officiate our wedding. She was warm, compassionate, and an absolute pro from start to finish. She responded to every email with lightning speed, and even went above and beyond to help us get our marriage certificate corrected when the city made an error!
Guests raved about how personal and meaningful the ceremony was, and we totally agree. Meeting with her in our apartment (twice!) really allowed us to form a real relationship. She also made the Jewish aspects of the ceremony accessible for our non-Jewish guests. And her beautiful singing voice was the icing on the cake!

Cantor Stein was the best officiant we could have ever imagined!
My wife and I had been putting off our search for a officiant ahead of the wedding out of fear we wouldn't be able to find the perfect match. I wanted someone who could incorporate elements of my Jewish background, without doing a full-blown Jewish ceremony, while my wife prioritized an officiant who could guide a ceremony that was a genuine reflection of our relationship.
We felt truly fortunate to discover Cantor Stein on 18Doors. She was the perfect partner throughout the process to help craft the wedding ceremony of our dreams. Once we decided that we were a match, Cantor Stein came to our home for a session to get to know us better. With her background as a licensed therapist, we got right into a deep discussion on our lives and our relationship that allowed her to get to know us more intimately.
In future sessions we worked on designing the ceremony. She was incredibly flexible in accommodating which elements of the Jewish wedding we wanted to preserve, where we wanted to incorporate a twist and also encouraged us to sprinkle in secular touches that were uniquely us. Whenever we had questions, Cantor Stein's experience was a valuable resource to help us feel confident about our decisions.
In the end, the ceremony was far and above our expectations despite some last minute curveballs (volatile weather forecast, last minute cancellations, etc.). We had many guests come up to us after the ceremony, and in the weeks following the wedding, telling us how beautiful the ceremony was and what an incredible job the Cantor did. The best compliment we consistently received was that the ceremony wonderfully exemplified our relationship and showcased our love for one another. Cantor Stein was our officiant for our wedding a couple weeks ago. We couldn’t be happier with how the ceremony went- she totally saw our vision for what we were hoping for and made it come to life. Cantor Stein is the BEST!
We had the absolute pleasure of having Cantor Laura Stein officiate our wedding in Branford, Connecticut on May 11th, 2024, and we truly couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful ceremony. From the very beginning, Cantor Stein made us feel comfortable, supported, and understood.
One of my fondest memories was right before walking down the aisle, during our intimate ketubah signing with our families. Cantor Stein created a warm and emotional space that allowed us all to really take in the moment — it was incredibly special.
During the ceremony, she asked us to share "three favorite things" about each other, a personal touch that had everyone smiling (and tearing up!). It made the ceremony feel so uniquely ours.
Everyone kept telling us afterward how breathtaking her voice was and how beautifully she led the ceremony. She has such a calming, joyful presence that made the entire day even more meaningful.

I can’t recommend Cantor Laura Stein enough she was exactly what we were looking for. I am Jewish and my husband was raised Catholic. We knew we wanted a Jewish ceremony but we also wanted an officiant that understood as an interfaith and queer couple. Cantor Stein completely fit the bill. She has the perfect mix of traditional yet modern. She has experience working with LGBTQ couples so she made us feel seen. She met with us three times and really took the time to get to know us as individuals and as a couple to try to create a ceremony that was meaningful and personal. She even provided couples counseling where we got to learn more about each other on the issues that are important in a marriage. It was so beneficial and our ceremony was that perfect blend of traditional yet us. Our non Jewish family raved about wanting to convert and everyone still talks about how great she was coming up on year later. Cantor Stein really took her time and made sure our ceremony was just perfect. Highly recommend! -

From our first conversation we felt very comfortable with her. We are so glad we signed up for the full three sessions (getting to know us, counseling, and planning). Throughout the sessions and the email conversations, she really helped us focus on our union, rather than the wedding planning which can feel all-consuming at times. We gained new insights in our relationship, she was an extremely supportive resource to help us navigate the Jewish traditions, and she was an incredible officiant! Cantor Stein is the best! She made my husband and I feel so comfortable prior to our wedding. She helped us navigate important premarital discussions and was profession, warm, and caring throughout the process. Cantor Stein navigated our wedding day perfectly! We encountered a lot of last minute changes on our wedding day, due to unforeseen rain, and she was extremely helpful in seamlessly rolling with the changes. She was an integral voice in ensuring everything was set up appropriately under the chuppah and helped alleviate any stress. Finally, Cantor Stein knew us well and was able to convey our love and our story so well at our wedding. If I could leave 100 stars I would. Cantor Stein is absolutely incredible. My husband and I knew we wanted someone to marry us that was warm, friendly, not too serious and brought a positive light to the ceremony. Cantor Stein did that and more. From the moment we met her and every time we left a session, my husband and I turned to each other and beamed at how wonderful she is. Getting to know Cantor Stein, and having her get to know us was a treat. She not only helped us on this journey to get married with all the details of planning the ceremony, but helped us grow as a couple as well. Cantor Stein was incredible. As an Asian American woman who grew up Christian with little exposure to Jewish weddings, Cantor Stein made the process seamless and handled it with grace. We had an interfaith ceremony and Cantor Stein was very respectful to my pastor and blessed us with a beautiful ceremony. She was very gracious explaining Jewish traditions to me so we could decide which elements we wanted to incorporate into the wedding. She also did an excellent job making our guests feel comfortable as well, explaining the traditions as she helped us perform them. I cannot recommend Cantor Stein enough, she brought us closer and blessed us with a sweet and memorable ceremony. -

We are so happy we found Cantor Stein and can’t imagine anyone else officiating our wedding. Her beautiful words and singing made the day so special and filled with love and emotion. Cantor for our Ketubah
It was so wonderful working with Cantor Laura Stein. We were struggling for a while to find the right fit for us since we are a same-sex couple and are not both Jewish - not everyone was so open to this diversity. While our wedding ceremony was non-denominational, we wanted to incorporate both of our religions and having a ketubah signing was very important to us. Cantor Stein was kind, respectful, knowledgeable, flexible and helped make our wedding day vision a reality! -

Cantor Stein is the absolute best wedding officiant for your Jewish ceremony. We are not very religious but still wanted a traditional enough ceremony for our family and Cantor Stein really helped us make our ceremony meaningful and traditional in a way that was special to us. Her counseling sessions beforehand were very valuable too and I would highly recommend that package. Our guests did not stop raving about her. We love Cantor Stein so much that she did the naming portion of our son's Bris just one year after our wedding, which was really special. absolutely perfect
Cantor Laura Stein was one of the first vendors we booked for our November 2020 wedding. It was so important to me to have someone interfaith and when I saw she was also a therapist I knew she’d be perfect. She was so accommodating and kind in postponing our wedding from November 2010 to November 2021.
Our actual ceremony was perfect. Interfaith, mostly Jewish but never made my husband do anything he wasn’t comfortable with. She came to our apartment like two weeks before the wedding to go over everything and I think that was the first time I started to feel really excited instead of nervous. My husband and I still talk about how lovely that evening was. She’s amazing, warm and incredible at what she does. -

I loved working with Cantor Stein. She is such an awesome person, she brought her own great personality to our ceremony, as well as incorporating us of course. She was reliable, caring, and funny! I couldn't recommend her enough! -

A personal and beautiful wedding ceremony that blended two cultures
Cantor Stein was a pleasure to work with and helped make our wedding day personal and special. My husband and I were originally supposed to get married in Peru but our plans changed because of the pandemic. Cantor Stein informed us about project Cupid so we were able to apply for an online marriage license promptly, and then helped us plan and execute a beautiful ceremony that included elements of my Jewish American upbringing and my husband's Latin upbringing. We loved the fact that Cantor Stein spoke Spanish and had lived in South America previously so she could relate to both of us. I highly recommend Cantor Stein for your upcoming in person or zoom wedding and plan to ask her to help us renew our vows whenever it is safe for us to travel to Peru for our reception. -

Above and Beyond!
Cantor Stein went above and beyond for us when we contacted her 30 days before-hand to officiate an impromptu, quarantine-style Jewish wedding. Not only did she take the time to get to know us and learn our story, but she incorporated our uniqueness into the ceremony and made it feel wonderfully personal. Additionally, her singing voice is absolutely beautiful and it amplified the excitement of the moment. Bottom line - she will make you and your wedding feel special. If you are in need of an officiant for a Jewish wedding who is registered in both NYC and NYS, I highly recommend that you consider Cantor Laura Stein! -

Working with Laura was so seamless and wonderful! My husband and I were very nervous with how to make an interfaith wedding work in order to incorporate both faiths and Laura put us at ease the second we got on the phone with her. Her experience with interfaith weddings was greatly appreciated (especially since our Pastor had never performed one). After our ceremony, I can not tell you how many of our guests came up to us to talk about how it was the best ceremony they had ever witnessed. I truly don't think that would have been possible if it weren't for Cantor Laura. I would 100% recommend her for all your ceremony needs!! -

Cantor Laura was amazing! We were looking for someone who would be able to officiate our socially distanced, intimate ceremony on May 24th, and still incorporate Jewish traditions that we found meaningful. We immediately clicked with Laura, and were on the same page about what was important and most meaningful, especially during this time when everything we had originally planned was so very up in the air. After our initial call, we had a follow up conversation to go over the logistics and what elements were important to us (and what things we could leave out). It was a pleasant reassurance that we were all on the same page, and she didn't force anything on us that we were not comfortable with. She put together an amazing ceremony, including a meaningful poem we wanted read, and very clearly and warmly articulated what this life stage event is all about. She did all of this in a 1-2 week turnaround! We received so many compliments on how wonderful the ceremony was, and how great the Cantor was. We believe we definitely made the right choice, and were fortunate to have Cantor Laura perform our ceremony. It will forever be something we will cherish! -

Simply amazing. Everyone who attended our wedding can not stop talking about how professional and sincere Cantor Stein was, not to mention her beautiful singing voice! She took the time to get to know my wife and I through three meetings in our home, and was flexible working with our sporadic schedules. Important topics we discussed included how my wife and I met and how we have grown together since then, what our family dynamics were and how they may influence the wedding day, and how we visioned the wedding itself and what we should expect. Her advice was extremely helpful as we worked to get ready for our big day. We would recommend Cantor Stein a thousand times over for anyone who wants a meaningful, intimate, and beautiful wedding. Perfect for our mixed family
Cantor Laura Stein was one of the best decisions we made for our New Year's Eve ceremony. Every single person raved about her ceremony (and voice) afterwards, including us. It did the perfect job blending what we needed. I'm Jew"ish" - culturally, yes, but not observant - and my husband's family is Catholic. Majority of our guests were not Jewish. Yet, everyone felt welcomed and were able to follow along with everything. We also really enjoyed working with Laura leading up to our wedding. She helped us have conversations we needed to have and talk about topics that were important to us. -

Cantor Laura immediately made us feel comfortable, and went above and beyond to get to know us, learn about our families, and form a real relationship with us. She worked closely with us to design a ceremony that hit the exact right balance of tradition and personal touches. She also offered some advisory sessions before the wedding, which really helped us have important conversations as a couple and went way above and beyond the details of the big day. At the wedding, her singing voice blew our guests away, and her remarks were beautiful and perfect. Cantor Laura was so much more than an officiant, she helped us ground our wedding in a real sense of history, tradition, community and love that I don't think we would have gotten with just anybody. Cantor Laura Stein was the perfect choice for our wedding! If you’re reading these reviews, you know finding an officiant is no easy feat, especially when you’d call yourself Jew-ish, you’re not a part of any synagogue, and you haven’t made inroads in your local Jewish community. We were at a loss for where to turn, until we stumbled upon Cantor Stein, who stood out to us amongst the rest with her commitment to ceremony personalization, pre-marital get-to-know-yous and guidance, and overall welcoming demeanor. Her calming nature and sense of humor hooked us from the initial phone call and we knew we’d be in good hands with her by our side on our wedding day. The pre-marital sessions were a perfect blend of relationship building, information gathering, and detail planning. Cantor Stein did an AMAZING job getting to know us and it made all the difference when it came to the ceremony, which was beautifully personalized to us as a couple and our level of Jewish faith. By the time we reached the end of the aisle, it felt as though our cherished and long-time friend welcomed us under the chuppah, and that level of ease and comfort would not have been possible without Cantor Stein’s care throughout this journey. During our reception, both family and friends raved about our ceremony, asking how long we had known Cantor Stein (believing we had been friends for ages!).
