Elevating the Musical Experience of Our Wedding

So thankful to Canterbury Strings for elevating our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour with their beautiful music. Throughout the process they were communicative and offered a wide array of classical and contemporary arrangements. Canterbury Trio

We hired the Canterbury Strings Trio for our wedding church service and it was absolutely lovely. They highly skilled musicians. Kate incorporated all of our requests and the music was exactly what we were hoping for. It truly elevated our wedding ceremony.

Canterbury Sets The Tone

We had Canterbury strings play for my wife and me at our wedding on May 11, 2024 and were very pleased! We primarily worked with them through our wedding planner. We greatly appreciated their communication, can-do attitude, and appropriate timetables in the run-up to the event. They already have a very broad repertoire of songs they can play, which is great to see. For our processional, my wife and I each selected songs that were not in their typical repertoire, but that was not a problem at all for Kate and her musicians. We gave them our desired songs in YouTube form, the cues for when we desired to come to the chuppah, and Canterbury made it happen. Our wedding party loved the touch of the particular processional songs being played by a string trio.

We had given Canterbury some music selections to play while guests were seated. But one group was late in arriving at the hotel. The trio was able to vamp and keep playing through that delay. They filled the time and were ready to play our requested music when all of our guests were seated. Everything they played sounded brilliant!

Beautiful music for intimate wedding

Canterbury Strings was a pleasure to work with. We booked them prior to changing our wedding into a family micro-wedding, and they were very accommodating with the change in plans and following social distancing guidelines. Kate is very responsive, gave excellent recommendations, and they have an extensive repertoire. Their music was beautiful and it made our intimate ceremony and family cocktail hour feel very special.

Communicative and Helpful!

Our contact was communicative via email, timely, and respected my requests. She was also very eager to recommend pieces that would suit what I was going for.

Canterbury Strings' musical selection is vast and varied. We were happy to find many pieces we recognized and loved among their repertoire. My guests also had a fun time identifying the pieces they were playing.

When things were running late, our musicians were very flexible. Thank you so much!

November 2019 wedding

I hired Canterbury strings for my Saturday night wedding to play during the ceremony and cocktail hour. Leading up to the wedding, it was easy to communicate with Kate and relay exactly what I wanted for my wedding day. The music was beautiful and made the wedding elegant, fun, and a great addition to the day!

Loved working with them!

I worked with Canterbury Strings for my October 2019 wedding and had a great experience! I had a family member write a special arrangement for our ceremony and they were so great about accommodating our request. They were always very prompt, professional and kind in all of our communication. And of course, their music was beautiful and they are all so talented! Beautiful Performance for Intimate Garden Ceremony

We cannot say enough great things about the Canterbury Strings. From the beginning Kate was incredibly responsive and shared their repertoire and suggestions for our intimate garden ceremony. They arrived on time, were set up in a beautiful formation, and perfectly played the routine we decided on. Our ceremony was a bit non-traditional and we walked in (together) to "All You Need Is Love" and recessed to "Here Comes the Sun". They have a huge list of pieces they play, and we were drawn to the selection of Beatles love songs, and classics from the 60s and 70s. Their pricing was in line with other groups and we are extremely happy with their contribution to our important day.

We worked with Kate to arrange a string trio to perform for our wedding ceremony in June. She was very responsive, organized, and very talented! We had a string trio play the prelude, processional, and recessional music for our ceremony and it was a lovely and romantic touch that really made it special. They are very flexible and have a wide repertoire of songs to choose from (if desired), or they can pick appropriate songs for you. I am so happy we had the string trio, who was very talented and professional - I only wish I could have heard more of their music (but, alas, as the bride, I missed most of the prelude!). Kate and her fellow artists that make up the Canterbury Strings were nothing short of amazing! From the beginning, Kate was the best to communicate with! She responded so quickly and was able to accommodate my needs for my ceremony and cocktail hour music! She even wrote up sheet music for a specific song to accompany my cousin who sang during the ceremony.

The music itself was so beautiful! Everyone loved it, and I received many compliments! Overall, I was so pleased with everything! The weather did not play out in our favor, but fortunately they were willing to do what they could to play music without damaging their instruments.

I 100%, highly recommend! Thank you so much for making my ceremony and cocktail hour that much more beautiful!!!!

Canterbury Strings performed for our wedding this month, and I have nothing but good things to say! From the first time I contacted Kate, she was very responsive, professional, and easy to work with. At the wedding, the musicians were professional and the music was so very beautiful. We loved the large repertoire they had, and we've received many compliments about their presence at our event. They really helped make our day perfect.

Kate was very responsive and flexible. We had to change the wedding venue location a month before the wedding and Kate was very flexible with the change. The music selection was wonderful and trio played beautifully. They helped make my wedding and cocktail hour special.

Canterbury Strings played as a string trio as our ceremony and cocktail hour musicians. Kate was responsive during the planning process and assisted in song selection when we couldn't make decisions. We had a trio of Canterbury Strings play during our wedding cocktail hour. They were so professional and wonderful, and wow, the music was beautiful! They played a mixture of classical and modern songs and everyone had such amazing things to say about them. I would recommend Canterbury Strings to anyone!

We booked a string trio for our ceremony and they were amazing! Our guests loved the music. We worked with Kate to figure out some of the songs and she was able to arrange sheet music for a song that I wanted to use for the bridal processional. Everything sounded so beautiful. They have a big repertoire and are able to play a lot of current songs as well. Definitely book Canterbury Strings!!

Highly recommend Canterbury Strings - they are excellent musicians, great to work with, and extremely professional. Kate was was super helpful in the weeks leading up to the wedding - she was always responsive, answered many of our questions (some not even related to ceremony music), offered advice, and she and her colleagues learned several songs we specifically requested. It really did make a huge difference having live music during the ceremony, both to the guests and to us as the couple getting married. They were very reasonably priced as well. You can't ask for better.

Canterbury Strings did a great job for our ceremony and cocktail hour music and I couldn't be more happy. The guests loved the all modern songs played on the strings. Canterbury Strings was incredibly flexible and accommodating. When my wedding was postponed 6 weeks due to the riots downtown they had no issue changing dates and adding an extra hour to play my cocktail hour (my previous musician could not change dates). The ladies were wonderful and played so beautifully. The range of music they were capable of playing was immense and all of my guests were impressed.

Canterbury Strings provided excellent music for our wedding ceremony. Kate was very easy to communicate with from the beginning. She was extremely accommodating and flexible, creating a special arrangement of a song not listed on their repertoire for my walk down the aisle. The music was beautiful and sounded much "fuller" than I expected from a trio! They were also an excellent value.

From the beginning Canterbury strings was great to work with. Kate was prompt in responding to any questions I had throughout the wedding process. They worked me with to fit my and my husbands taste in music to make out ceremony perfect for us. Our orchestra trio did a lovely job before, during and after our wedding ceremony. I highly recommend using Canterbury Strings as ceremony or cocktail hour musicians! Kate was responsive, professional, and the music was outstanding. The single regret I have about my wedding day is that I couldn't arrive at the church early, sit in the pew, and listen to the prelude!

Canterbury Strings provided the ceremony music for my daughters Wedding. Kate was great to work with from the initial email contact and was always prompt in responding throughout the planning. They have a versatile song list and were open to learning new songs. We requested Butterfly Waltz for the Brides processional and it was played flawlessly - to many compliments. They made the ceremony elegant and special. We're so happy we had them as part of the day.

We were thrilled with their performance at our wedding! The music was beautiful and our guests could not stop saying what a wonderful job Canterbury Strings did! They were extremely quick to respond to our emails and accommodated all of our requests. We asked them to learn new songs for both the processional and recessional songs for us with less than a month to go and they did so with no complaints and with flying colors. They really did and wonderful job and truly helped us create a very meaningful ceremony. They also followed all of our requests for specific songs to play before the wedding.
Can't recommend them highly enough.

Canterbury Strings was the best choice for our string quartet. They were extremely responsive to our emails, played songs that we requested, they even played one of our songs at a slower pace so that it lasted through us going down the aisle. They dressed professionally, showed up early to set up, and got tons of compliments from our guests. Their prices were also incredibly reasonable! I highly recommend them; they truly brought class to our wedding.

I communicated with Kate over the phone and via email. She made the process so easy and totally put me at ease.

Their repertoire of music was amazing and they played a wonderful mix of popular and classical music during our ceremony and cocktail hour. We actually never got a chance to meet in person, but all of our guests raved about the music and it truly set the mood for an afternoon garden wedding.

I highly recommend working with Kate and her team. They are professional and extremely talented! Thanks for everything!

I hired Canterbury Strings to play at my outdoor wedding ceremony and for the cocktail hour. It was an absolute must for me to have "live" music play during the ceremony. I worked with Kate and she was so responsive and easy to work with... Although we never even met prior to the wedding, it was a seamless process.

I wish I could have enjoyed the music a little more but of course, I was the last one to enter the room. I highly recommend using Canterbury for your wedding music.

My daughter was married on Saturday, August 3, 2013. We hired Canterbury Strings Trio to play music for the wedding ceremony. The music they provided was heart-stirring. The ceremony was very romantic with the bride and groom writing their own wedding vowels, the beautiful but simple flowers, and the couple's love letters sealed in a special box as a keepsake for their later years. The music added even more romance to the feel of the ceremony. I cannot say enough about Kate's assistance, the ease of coordination, their willingness to offer music, and to learn a special song for the service. I hired Canterbury Strings to play at our wedding ceremony church service. They did a beautiful job. It was a real joy to work with Kate. She answered all of my emails promptly. Her rates are very competitive. I only interacted with Kate via email and did not meet her prior to the ceremony. They played for 15 minutes before the service and then played several pieces during the service. They did a really outstanding job. I could not have been happier with their work. The music really added a beautiful touch to our wedding. I can’t thank Kate and her group enough for the wonderful job they did. I recently used the Canterbury Strings for my wedding ceremony. They were wonderful. Honestly, I did not actually meet them, but they were great to work with. We contacted each other via email, and the music was great. I chose more modern music to walk down the aisle to, and people loved the music before the ceremony. I chose Beatles songs, The Cure, and other more known songs. They all sounded great in the classical version of it. My guests loved listening to these songs before the ceremony started. They were right on cue with the music for the ceremony timeline. And I never even talked to them in person! Wonderful company. Reasonably priced, very professional, and great music. Would recommend them to anyone!

The Canterbury Strings trio performed at my wedding ceremony and at the cocktail hour prior to the reception. The group was extremely responsive to emails and was very easy to work with. Due to an unforeseen circumstance we had to change the location of our ceremony to a different church a few months before the wedding. The Canterbury Strings were flexible and accommodating! They were on time, played all of the beautiful music that we requested, and really added a special something to our wedding day! They are a professional, talented group. I cannot recommend them enough!

The Canterbury Strings were an excellent addition to our wedding ceremony. They played non-traditional music, and were open to learning new music that was not listed on their repertoire. Kate was extremely easy to work with, and their prices are exceptionally reasonable. We had many compliments on the ceremony music! I'd highly recommend them to anyone!

We got married on June 10th at Celebrations at the Bay. Canturbury Strings provided our ceremony and cocktail hour music and they were wonderful! The string trio played beautiful and were professional and easy to work with! I worked with Kate prior to my wedding, and she was extremely responsive to all of my questions and concerns. She made so many wonderful suggestions and really tailored the music for our wedding to what we wanted. She even found alternate music and made the arrangement for one song I had to have played at my ceremony. Kate was knowledgable about Jewish wedding ceremonies, which made the ceremony flow so well. Canterbury Strings are AWESOME! I would highly recommend Kate and her team. Kate was extremely responsive to her emails and answered all of my questions. I really wanted violinist to play at my wedding. Everybody in my family included my husband said I shouldn’t bother to hire violinist and that I could just have my dj provide the music. But I hired them anyways and as soon as they started to play I had everyone who told me not to hire them tell me how amazing they sounded. Throughout my entire wedding day, I had many guest come up to my husband and I and tell us how wonderful they sounded. Canterbury strings were wonderful to work with! I was always emailed promptly with any answers I needed and Kate was always very friendly! She helped me decide what music would work best, and was very accommodating. At the last minute we hired a soloist to perform with them during the ceremony and Kate was very helpful with getting the right sheet music and understanding. Canterbury Strings provided a string trio to play during my ceremony and my cocktail reception and they were wonderful! During the planning process, they were extremely responsive, followed up with me at the proper time and gave great input to help me decide on my music. The best part was that they were extremely affordable! I had priced out several different string trios in the area and was ready to go above budget to get live string music for my wedding. Fortunately, I found Canterbury Strings and was able to get gorgeous live string music at a price that was more than reasonable. Kate and her team were absolutely wonderful! My husband and I couldn't have been more pleased with the ceremony music. The music was absolutely gorgeous and Kate was excellent through the whole process. She was extremely pleasant, helpful, and professional from my first inquiry all through the planning. She was more than willing to learn the accompany music for the responsorial psalm we selected for our ceremony and pulled it off fantastically, even though I sprung the sheet music on her with only a few weeks to go. Furthermore, Kate was more than willing to work with my sister-in-law who acted as cantor on our wedding day. I got rave reviews from my guests on how beautiful the music was and my husband still occasionally mentions how Kate and her team were a perfect addition to our ceremony. A friend helped me search for a string trio as I had my heard set on one. She came across the craigslist ad for Canterbury Strings.

From the onset, founder Kate was very responsive and professional. The trio even learned two new pieces I request (for a small fee) so that we could have unique music for my walk down the aisle and an interlude during the ceremony.

They arrived on time to the ceremony and sounded beautiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We just had the Canterbury Strings play at our wedding on 9/25/10 and they were wonderful. It was a very hectic day for us and there was an accident that closed down the main road to the ceremony, causing us to delay the ceremony by about 20 minutes. The string trio went above an beyond playing throughout the time that we waited for the ceremony to start, playing past the time that we had originally contracted them for, and doing it without complaint. They played beautifully and I got many compliments on how well they played. Their pricing was very reasonable compared to other sting trios/ quartets that we were looking at and they were well worth every penny spent!

My guests were thrilled with the music provided by the Canterbury Strings-- it set just the right tone for our intimate church wedding. The women were dressed in professional dressy black, came early and were no hassle at all-- which is a great thing on a wedding day! They were one of the last details we put into place, a great finishing touch. Our wedding was in Bethesda, MD, so I know they are willing to travel in the region. I was thrilled to have them be part of our wedding; they are a great value for the money.

Kate and the rest of the Canterbiry Strings were absolutely fantastic. We had the string trio play at our ceremony at the Baltimore Zoo and they did an amazing job. From the time that I contacted Kate she was extremely repsonsive and helpful. I knew what song I wanted to play as I entered the ceremony, but didn't have any clue about anything else music related. Kate helped me make choices about should be included in the ceremony and helped me plan it. The group had a lot of songs to choose from and they made the ceremony even more beautiful than it would have been otherwise. The group did cost a fair amount, but they were comeptitively priced in comparison with other groups that I researched. I would definitely recommend the Canterbury Strings for any event!

I hired Canterbury Strings to play during my ceremony at the Tremont Grand. Communication was done via email and Kate is good at responding to emails. I wasn't too particular about song selections so I gave her a list of songs I wanted them to play during the processional, etc, but asked her to play a light classical music during the guests were seating. I heard them playing when I was waiting in the bride's room next to the ceremony hall and thought they played beautifully.

One thing that threw me off was that I had requested and provided sheet music for a song everyone were to sing during the ceremony. Kate said it's not a problem and they can certainly play it. They were supposed to play AFTER the opening prayer (which was after the bride's processional) but they just started playing after I got to the front and stood with my husband. Our officiant was a bit thrown off and he waited for 30 seconds or so for the trio to stop playing so he can start praying, but they wouldn't stop so he just had to interrupt and ask everyone to join him for a prayer. Then they played the song, which was supposed to end after repeating the chorus twice, but they kept playing the chorus repeatedly (like 5 times). It made me think that they didn't really practice before they came or read the program before the ceremony started, as the program had the lyrics and how the chorus was to repeat twice (not 5 times).

Kate emailed me the very next day apologizing for playing the song abruptly, which is the reason I'm giving them 4.0 for professionalism instead of 3.0. I'd have to say, they do play the classical songs beautifully but if you have a special song for your ceremony (we requested a gospel song), make sure they know when to start and when to end.
