Delicious Cake!

We got our wedding cake through Cakes by Cathy Young, and it was delicious! I worked mostly with her son, Brian, and he was very nice and helpful. We kept it really simple: a vanilla cake with vanilla icing and very limited décor, and it was absolutely perfect. I loved the clean, elegant look of the cake, but the taste was even better! We had so many people ask where we got our cake!

Best wedding cake ever!

Cathy's wedding cake was not only beautiful, it was delicious! Our wedding was almost a month ago and our guests are still raving about the delicious vanilla cake with raspberry filling. We heard countless times that it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. Cathy and Bryan were so easy to work with and provided a beautiful silver cake stand for the day of. Thank you, Cathy!!

So delicious!!

Many friends of ours told us about Cakes By Cathy and as soon as we tried her cakes we knew we needed to have her do our wedding cake!! We got a signature vanilla with strawberry and it was so good! We could't wait to eat in on the wedding day. Cathy was super helpful whenever we had questions and I could not have been happier with the cake she made for us! Thank you to you and your team's hard work in making our wedding day special with your delicious cake!

Get the red velvet!

Cathy was wonderful to work with! She nailed my vision of a very simple 3 tier cake, and the red velvet cake was to die for. My guests are still talking about it!

We used Cakes by Cathy Young for both the bride and groom cakes at our wedding and it was a huge hit. We received so many compliments from our guests, many saying it was the best cake they've every had at a wedding. Great experience!

Best cake!

Save yourself some time, go visit Cathy and taste her cakes...you won't need to look any further! Our daughter lives out of town, and I was planning the wedding here in SA. A local caterer suggested Cathy, I made a tasting appointment. Cathy is so sweet and helpful, she patiently helped us decide on a cake style. My daughter and her fiance chose a 3 tier with 3 different flavors...almond, red velvet, and carrot (each with unique fillings). On the wedding day, we arrived at the venue to see the beautiful cake, it was perfect. The groom's cake was a 3 layer chocolate, also decorated just as requested. Once the cake was sliced, the guests could not believe how delicious it tasted! Oh my gosh, I have never had such moist and melt-in-your-mouth wedding cake! My only regret is that I didn't get to taste the carrot cake layer, but guests said it was divine. You cannot go wrong with a Cake by Cathy....it's worth every penny!!!

Delicious Cakes!!

Cathy's Cakes are like no other! She bakes in the comfort of her beautiful home. Her vanilla cake with buttercream frosting melts in your mouth! I showed Cathy a photo of a cake idea and she did not disappoint! One guest told me he ate 3 slices of wedding cake at the reception because it tasted so good! Our groom's cake was red velvet and Cathy also added our edible emblem for the top of the cake. Thankfully we had leftover wedding cake available and a few weeks later her frozen cake still tasted AMAZING!

BEST, beautiful cake!

Cathy and her team were so easy to work with, and her cake for my wedding was absolutely delicious! It’s one of the best cakes I’ve ever had – so moist and light – and I’m still thinking about it three weeks later. You won’t regret booking Cathy.

The best cake I’ve ever had

After the wedding I had at least 10 guests come up to me to see who made the cake (one said he ate 7 pieces!!). The best tasting cake we have ever had and for a really great price. Could not be happier with the cake!

Dreamy Vanilla

Cathy was lovely to work with and her cake was as delicious on our wedding night as it was when we did our tasting. Seriously, her cakes are the best! She also did a great job decorating the cake, and was prompt in emails and delivery. We will definitely use her for cakes again in the future!

Cathy's cakes are by far the most delicious of any I have ever tried!! Cathy is such a sweetheart to work with! She made both the grooms cake and the bridal cake for my wedding in February. She is still getting compliments to this day, from my guests. I've referred her to several brides already. She has a heart of gold and it honestly shows through her cakes. Between the mouth watering taste, her strong attention to detail, and her strong desire to please her clients..there is no doubt you'll make the right choice with Cakes by Cathy. THE BEST WEDDING CAKE EVER! We did several tastings and she was far and away the best tasting cake, and was so fun and easy to talk to. Her staff was responsive and courteous in the whole process and open to any designs we wanted, they even put our requested flowers on the cake to match our bouquets. Cathy has such a distinct flavor that a guest actually noticed it and asked if it was cake from Cathy. The cake was not overly sweet, and several days later, is still just as delicious. The only drawback is that she did not offer as wide of a variety of flavors as other cake vendors, but the flavors she did offer were so delicious that we didn't care. The brides cake was vanilla with white icing, and the grooms cake was red velvet (the best red velvet we've ever had). We also borrowed a cake stand from her for an extra charge.

Don't look any further than Cathy Young for your wedding cake. I love her!! She made the cake my daughter had always dreamed of having on her wedding day. Not only was the cake absolutely stunning it was THE BEST cake we have ever eaten. My daughter picked three flavors and they were a hit. Our guests LOVED the cake. We had minimal cake left to take home because it was so GOOD. We met with Cathy twice to discuss what my daughter wanted. The visits were so fun (and TASTY). She made us so excited about the cake that we could not wait to see it. On the day of the wedding when the cake was delivered we were blown away by the beauty of the cake. I can't say thank you enough to Cathy for making the most beautiful, tasty cake ever and for exceeding our expectations.

After booking Kendall Plantation for our wedding, the common theme with all the vendors we spoke with was, “Have you booked your cake yet? If not, you need to call Cathy Young immediately!” I had already made a couple of appointments with some people that I had heard good things about; however, after meeting with a couple them, I never left the appointments feeling like I needed to book with them. I’m not a big fan of cake, but I still wanted it to be pretty and taste good so our guests enjoyed it. I wasn’t impressed with the taste of the cakes and often people didn’t even acknowledge my fiancé or my mom. Thankfully, I was able to make an appointment with Cathy. As soon as we met her, I knew I loved her! My husband was working, so my mom came with me and she warmly greeted both of us. Before we even spoke about the cake, she wanted to get to know us some, she wanted to hear how my husband and I met and teared up as I told her the story, and she wanted to hear about my full vison for the wedding! She made us feel so comfortable and welcomed! Thankfully, she had our date available. I know I said I didn’t like cake, but Cathy turned me into a cake lover. It is the best cake I have ever had in my entire life. The cake is so moist and the icing is perfect. It was a no brainer that I needed to book with her. Not only are her cakes amazing, she is the sweetest woman alive. She makes you feel more like family rather than a customer. The day of the wedding, she brought the cake and didn’t want to leave until she saw me and told me she hoped I had a perfect day. She gave me the biggest hug! The cake brought me to tears. It was EXACTLY what I had envisioned. The guests LOVED the cake. I’ve been married a little less than a month now, and I am still having guests talk about the cake and how beautiful it was and how it was the best cake they have ever had. I am so grateful for Cathy and her incredible talent and her sweet heart!

If you want the most delicious wedding cake that is also super beautiful - you cannot go wrong with Cakes by Cathy Young. We were sold the second we tried her vanilla and chocolate chocolate chip cupcakes during our consultation. My husband, who doesn't even like cakes, was amazed at how good they taste. Every single vendor I used recommended her. Our cake was stunning for our wedding and fed 250 people. We highly recommend using Cakes by Cathy Young for your wedding or event!

One of the best decisions I made for my wedding! Cathy was amazing, her cakes are amazing, and the presentation was beautiful. I asked our venue coordinator about if she had a recommendation for cakes and she pretty much yelled at me and said "YOU HAVE YOU USE CAKES BY CATHY" I learned that if you get married in San Antonio, you use Cathy, no questions. We had two cakes done, a two-tier semi-naked buttercream cake and a chocolate groom's cake. My husband is a pilot and she did his aviator wings on the top to personalize it and it was unbelievable. I will recommend Cathy to everyone and anyone I know. Thanks again for everything!

We selected Cakes by Cathy for 3 reasons: we loved the moistness (and flavor!) of the samples we tasted, we had received glowing recommendations from several friends, and after meeting her we trusted she would do a good job. When I walked into our reception I was blown away at how GORGEOUS the cake was. It looked like a picture in a magazine! It tasted more delicious than I'd remembered and I am not exaggerating when I say that SO MANY of our guests actually raved about the cake and how delicious it was. She also helped advise us on the feasibility of a cake stand I had purchased and also ensured there was stability built into the top tier to accommodate the custom cake topper I had ordered. I cannot imagine anyone in San Antonio getting a better wedding cake anywhere else. Cathy is simply the best. THANK YOU for the beautiful, delicious cake!

Cathy Young did such a phenomenal job with our wedding cakes! From the initial consultation to our wedding day she was wonderful to work with! At our initial meeting, my husband and I were blown away by her cakes- it was the most delicious cake we have ever tasted! We had a few ideas for the groom's cake and ended up calling and changing the design to a Mario Themed cake. All I can say is Cathy Young turned our vision for the wedding cake and the groom's cake into a beautiful and delicious masterpiece! If you're looking for someone who is an exceptional baker, someone who is wonderful to work with, and an absolutely delicious cake- book Cathy Young!

We have always used Cathy for our birthday cakes and other "special day" cakes, but we finally got to use her for my daughters wedding cake this past weekend. I thought we would have a lot of leftover cake since I know some people don't eat cake, but there was not one piece left because it was SO good-people went back for seconds and thirds! Cathy Young's cakes are the absolute best! Always moist, always delicious! Everyone who had her cakes at my daughter's wedding raved about how delicious they were (we got a groom's cake and wedding cake) told me how much they loved them. Many people specifically stated that they were "cake snobs" and that the cakes were awesome!! Strongly recommend her!!

We met with many vendors and tasted many cake samples. Cakes by Cathy was by far the best. Her cakes were like heaven in your mouth. Incredibly moist and the designs for the bride and grooms cake were exactly as ordered at a very reasonable price. We were very pleased! Almost two weeks later the refrigerated leftover cake was still incredibly moist and still delicious!

I've never seen guests eat wedding cake as fast as they did at our reception. We shared the secret far and wide, and everyone took our advice - make sure and get a piece of cake. Lucky for us, our sister boxed up our remaining pieces and we were able to enjoy them again that night. Cathy makes delicious, beautiful cakes for both the bride and groom, and we will be ordering her desserts for many years to come!

Cathy did an incredible job on our cakes. We have used her for several years for various functions, and did not hesitate to book her again. At the end of our reception there was no cake left! She had different fillings on every layer of my cake and I couldn't tell you which one was the best, they were all so good. The design was exactly what I asked for, and my husband loved his groom's cake. She did a great job of completing a football field along with strawberries covered in chocolate designed like footballs, and she perfected the school emblem that we asked her to put on the cake. Do not hesitate to book with Cathy you will not be disappointed!

Cakes by Cathy did the grooms cake for my son's wedding. The triple chocolate decadence cake was delicious! She decorated the top of the cake to look like a football field where a personalized topper of the groom proposing to the bride on the 50-yard line was placed. As a special request of the groom, she placed red velvet cake balls with the Texas A&M logo around the perimeter of the cake. It looked so good the flower girl couldn't resist just a little taste of the icing before the cake was cut!

I met with Cathy only one time and she was very knowledgeable. She helped us design two cakes, one was a nice layered cake, and the other a groom's cake for me! Both of them were the BEST cake I have ever eaten. No Joke. Actually they were at least 10x better than any cake I have eaten. She is absolutely amazing, affordable, perfect service.

Everyone told me I had to get my cakes done by Cathy Young, and I must say that I am glad I did. My daughter picked a fairly plain design, but used real flowers. It turned out very pretty, but the main thing was that it was really delicious. We had people standing in line holding and a plate of cake and waiting to get another! It was one of the things about the wedding that drew rave reviews.

I first knew of Cathy when she made the cakes for my brother's wedding four years ago. Cathy almost entirely conducts her business through word-of-mouth. And for those who were at our wedding it’s easy to see why business is good. The Bride’s cake was a white cake with butter cream frosting and raspberry filling. The Groom’s cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate chips, chocolate frosting, and Amaretto filling. So delicious and so wonderful! We received many compliments from our guests.

Cathy makes the most delicious wedding cakes. My daughter wanted cupcakes for her wedding, so Cathy made two varieties of cupcakes which she placed in tiers like a cake would be. Then she topped it off with a small cake for cutting. It was decorated simply, by request, then she added some fresh flowers to top it off. It was perfect and so delicious there were none left to bring home.

I was referred to Cathy by literally six other people (including my wedding planner) who use her or have used her for various occasions. I told myself that I was going to try at least two other bakers before going to her because I didn't want to get sucked in since all my friends & co workers were using her. But nothing could come close to how scrumptious Cathy's cake's were! We opted out on doing a grooms cake. I like Vanilla and my fiance (now husband...lol I just like saying that!) likes chocolate so we compromised and a few layers of each with raspberry filling. I had a photo of what I wanted to the cake to look like and she did exactly that! I received so many compliments on my cake. So of my guests even said that it was the best cake they ever tasted!!

Cathy was a joy to work with. With little time before our wedding date, I received several personal recommendations to contact Cathy Young. I'm so glad I did. I brought Cathy my ideas and she delivered in perfect form. The cake was everything I wanted for my wedding and more. The cake tasting was fun and delicious! Cathy's traditional white cake was a hit, I heard from more than one guest that normally they think white cake is boring and bland, but they all went back for seconds of Cathy's!! Don't look anywhere else- Cathy's cakes are PERFECTION. First, they are hands down the most delicious things I have ever tasted. And she will give you whatever flavor you want- she's very the real deal in that regard. No pre-set formulas- she'll make the wedding cake of YOUR dreams. Second, she can recreate any cake if you give her a picture. Like, to a T!!!! I had so much fun with Cathy- I actually had her do 3 cakes for my wedding because I couldn't narrow it down- they all just tasted and looked so divine!
I had a wedding with a bit of a vintage/southern feel, so I wanted sweet little vintage cakes- she totally got what I was going for and delivered. But she can do the towering glamorous cakes as well. And she is totally affordable.

Cakes by Cathy Young was the best choices we could have made for our wedding cakes. We went to 3 other vendors before going to see Cathy. We knew we wanted to taste a cake and would know this is the one!!!!! For my bridal cake we chose the butter cream with Raspberry filling. This was AMAZING!! I got so many compliments on how good the cake was. For the groom's cake we chose the double chocolate. All I can say is WOW!! Wow - Cathy makes the most delicious cakes I've ever had! We had one cake tasting set up with her and fell in love. Her prices were very reasonable (cheaper than The Cake Shop for the same cake) and the quality and detail exceeded expectations. I had multiple guests thank me at my wedding for having such good cake!! She made us a 3-tierd wedding cake with a lace design, and an orange longhorn cake that was a huge hit. She is pure talent and I will definitely order cakes from her again in the future.

We had a destnation wedding in San Antonio. Absolutey every vendor we checked out recommended Cathy and for good reason. She was easy to work with, the cake was atractive and the taste was in-credible!!! My mother in law said her only comaint with the weddng was that there weren't seconds on the cake. The cake was a three-tiered red velvet with ivory buttercream icing and the groom's cake was a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing covered in chocolate-covered strawberries! She has a year waiting list to get one of her cakes, but call and check - she might be able to fit you in. When you go to cake tasting, the cake is so delicious, it melts in your mouth. I was so looking forward to the cake at the wedding because I had to taste it again. We can't wait to taste our cake in the freezer (we are eating our cake at 1 month anniversary)! Even somebody at the wedding said to me that they can to the wedding to especially taste the cake. Don't do the fondant cake, you must do the buttercream icing with Cakes by Cathy!

I was telling my cousin how we there was going to be an awesome cake at the wedding. He responded that he doesn't like dessert. Well on the big day he ended up eating 3 pieces. Cathy's cakes can turn dessert haters into dessert lovers!

When we tried Cathy’s cakes at our tasting, we knew it was the one. Her cakes are so delicious and moist. My husband and I were really looking forward to eating our wedding cake to get to eat her cake again. She is a little difficult to get a hold of, but the product is worth it!!! She doesn’t do fondant, which threw some of our ideas out –but we found a buttercream design that worked with our harry potter themed reception. I would recommend Cakes by Cathy to anyone!! Kathy Young made the wedding cake for my friends in 2005. I wish I could attach a photo of the cutting cake ceremony...it shows two bridesmaids with our eyes on the cake instead of the bride & groom. Cathy is wonderful and so are her cakes. We are still getting compliments on my wedding cake and my husband's groom's cupcakes. Her tastings are done at her home and she makes you feel really comfortable. And her cakes are the most moist, sweet, and just delicious cakes I have ever had in my life. I went with a white cake and white buttercream frosting for my cake- it was perfect. My husband had peanut butter chocolate cupcakes- they are heavenly. We were so excited that there were leftovers that were frozen and given to us after our honeymoon. Let me tell they are still amazing! The only thing is she can be difficult to get ahold of.. She will take a few days to get back to you and don't try e-mailing. But, don't let this deter you... Cathy Young is the BEST!

It was not until after my wedding that I learned that the van that had my wedding cake and grooms cake, as well as other wedding cakes, was stolen the night before the wedding. However, Cathy had made a committment to us and stayed up all night redoing all of the cakes. Had one of our other vendors not told us, I never would have been able to tell. Cathy did an amazing job on both cakes and they tasted wonderful. I would recommend Cathy to anyone!

Cathy's cakes are the best that you'll ever taste. I am very picky..and have tried a lot. They are delicious, she is talented. Her prices are usually definitely worth the quality of the cakes... but for my wedding she overcharged a little bit when we told her we needed a bigger size last minute. She is so professional and sweet though.. she will most likely resolve our complaint professionally. I highly recommend her. Cathy was wonderful!! Her cakes were so delicious guests wanted seconds and thirds. The wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous and the grooms cake was exactly how we pictured. The only thing is she can be hard to get ahold of!

It is sometimes hard to get in touch with Cathy but it is so worth it! I loved my cake! We had a vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse that was to die for! My husband and I liked it so much we couldn't wait a year and unfrozen it on our one month anniversary. It still tasted amazing!

As other reviewers have noted, it can be a bit difficult to get in touch with Cathy (she rarely answers her phone and can take a few days to call back), but it’s worth the trouble. When we had our tasting with her she had prepared several cupcakes for us to sample, and all of them were amazing. My wife mentioned that she was thinking about red velvet for her cake, which was not one of the flavors Cathy had brought out. But we were impressed when she went back into her kitchen and got one so my wife could try it. For the bride’s cake she did a beautiful red velvet three-tier cake with fleur de lis, yellow roses, and a ribbon with French script on it. For the groom’s cake she did a vanilla vanilla with a film reel on top. Both looked great, and tasted even better (we have a great photo of us both reacting to tasting the cake at our reception). We can’t wait to eat the tier we saved for our one-year anniversary. Highly recommended!

I had a cupcake tree at my wedding which included chocolate cupcakes with chocolate icing and spice cupcakes with cream cheese icing. She also made a mini cake for the top tier which turned out so cute! My guests raved about both cupcakes! They were delicious! Unfortunately, I did not get to try the spice ones. Cathy was very sweet and returned calls in a timely manner. I give 2 stars on flexibility only because there were some issues with them delivering/setting up my cupcakes (that I only knew about the day before my wedding) which caused problems for me bc ALL of my guests flew in from out of town; therefore, no one had a car to help me out by picking them up for me (I am new to the city so I don't know anyone here in town). It all worked out perfectly but only because the catering manager at my venue was nice enough to call Cathy and explain the situation.

Cathy's cake was amazing! We had vanilla buttercream icing with white cake and raspberry filling. We had her decorate it with different patterns for each tier. It was a stunning cake and everyone complimented the look - AND then they tasted it and went crazy. I am still hearing compliments on it a month later. The cake was moist and yummy - I had two slices. We ordered enough cake for 200 and there were only 160 people and they finished it. apparently, lots of people had two servings! Cathy doesn't use contracts, which was concerning but when I asked my friends where to go 18 brides, yes eighteen, recommended her and all had wonderful experiences.

My mother, grandmother and I went for a tasting at Cathy's house and there were only a handful of flavors and a couple of different icing options, with no fillings, but you could tell that she stood by her products and they were most like to be delicious. My husband and I wanted a very simple, but classy looking cake, nothing elaborate. I showed Cathy some of the ideas I had come across and we went with what she described as a "spackle" effect with the icing. We would get an initial monogram for the topper and have some fresh flowers placed on the table the day of for her to place on the cake when she delivered it the morning of.
My mother paid for the cake and was extremely disappointed, we recently received our wedding photos and I can see why. The cake was lopsided, the icing did not look like the "spackle" I had shown her in any photos, more like how it looks when you put icing on a cake before you smooth it out and make it look nice, and there were areas on the cake where you could see through the frosting to the actual cake. No flowers made their way onto the cake which wasn't necessarily Cathy's fault, that got lost somehow in translation with the florist, but we were at the venue getting ready while Cathy was setting up the cake so she could have easily come down and asked us if that was what we wanted or if there were flowers she was missing. She didn't, which my mom deemed unprofessional.
When I picked up everything from our coordinator the top layer of the cake was smashed on a paper plate covered in plastic wrap, not in a cake box like I expected. She said there was no cake box.
All that aside, it was delicious! We got a lot of compliments on how great it was. Soon after the wedding my mom called Cathy with her feedback and she was very responsive. She made us a graduation cake that was amazing and beautiful!
I would definitely recommend Cakes by Cathy, her cakes are amazing and she is very fair!

Cathy Young is extremely sweet...and so are her cupcakes. When I first called to arrange a tasting, I was told by a gentleman that they weren't able to accommodate my date, but then Cathy called me herself and booked a tasting right there on the spot. She is absolutely wonderful as a person. She quoted me about $250 for a three tiered whimsical design. Her chocolate cake has mini chocolate chips in it.

Cathy did a really great job on our two cakes- an almond cake with a slightly caramel buttercream for the wedding cake, and a chocolate with espresso filling for the groom's cake. Both were excellent, and everyone raved about how delicious and moist both were. I had also given Cathy a photo (pulled from Pinterest) of what I wanted it to look like, and she did a great job of recreating it. I didn't much care about how it looked- I just wanted it to taste awesome!- but I know that's a big deal for some brides. Regardless, taste and decoration were both perfect and the cake was good for several days later as my husband and I polished off the last bits! I do have to mention though that while Cathy does a great job, she's a bit difficult to get hold of. She is best reached by phone but it can be tricky to get in touch, and occasionally, to have a full conversation about what you want. She's a very nice person over the phone and face-to-face, but I was planning from outside the state and it was sometimes frustrating to not get a response for a few days, or to only get a half response. So, just a heads up!

The cake tasted amazing - but after providing a photo and a ribbon sample, the color used on embellishments was very different than what I was looking for. The cake tasted wonderful (lots of guest compliments) and she was very nice to work with.

The cake was gorgeous and very tasty. Cathy brought the cake on time and it was delicious. She is a little difficult to get in touch with, rarely answers the phone and does not reply to emails, however she is known for that, that's why my expectations were adjusted. She's been in the business for over 20 years and her cakes are great. She is reliable if you put your mind at peace that everything will be done right and on time.

Cathy did our wedding cake and our Groom's cake, both cakes were delicious however for the amount of money that we paid the decorations we asked for on the cake were not even close. We provided pictures and were very specific to what we were wanting and it was not delivered to us. Again the cakes were delicious and everyone did love the way they tasted but we did feel that the decor of the cake was lacking.

Cathy did a great job on our grooms cake, however we were disappointed in the decorating of the bride's cake. The plan of the bride's cake was not followed through with. Layers had to be changed at the last minute because the communication was not good and Cathy was not able to make the cake look like the pictures we had supplied. The taste of the cakes was wonderful but if you want something really special as far as deacorating I suggest going with another bakery or getting a mock cake done in advance to make sure you are getting what your heart is set on. I would recommend Cathy for simple cakes because they are delicious but not for a wedding.

We had our wedding cake made by Cathy Young and during the tasting appointment she asked us what kind of cake we wanted to have. We provided her with a photo from the internet as an example and with teal ribbon she needed for the design of the cake. She needed to match the color of the icing to the color of the ribbon (teal). She did not notify us of the possibility that this might become difficult. On the day of our wedding she dropped off the cake without notifying us of her arrival, and without asking us if we were satisfied with the end result. To my horror the icing turned out to have the color of smurf blue!! I noticed this when she was already gone, with our check, and nothing could be done about it. I could not have been more disappointed with the end result.
Apart from the design, I was also disappointed with how the cake tasted. During the tasting appointment the cake had a rich chocolate flavor. Our wedding cake tasted like a bunch of sugar with a brown color. Very mediocre.

When I went to the taste testing, Cathy was so nice to us. She was talkative and professional. The cake was really delicious. In talking to her, I mentioned of how I was getiing charged more by other vendors because my wedding was on a Sunday. My husband and I decided to go with her because the cake was delicious and Cathy won us over with her friendliness. My husband put the deposit to hold the date. About 3 weeks prior to the event, he emailed her about adding a grooms cake and she took 4 days to respond. When she called with the total price, she made us aware of the $100 that would be added for delivery. When asked why she didnt tell us when we put the deposit, she told my husband that he was welcome to go pick it up himself. That was extremely hurtful. I was so disappointed. We had to pay the extra fee because we couldnt possibly go pick up our cake on our wedding day. With paying that fee, our budget was changed and so we couldnt afford the grooms cake and that was so sad. The week of the wedding, she called my husband and asked if we had gotten a grooms cake afterall? He said "no" and she said she might have something for him. When we got to the venue the day of our wedding, there was a beautiful grooms cake. Although that was a sweet gesture, the bride cake was not so pretty. The piping was done as if the work was done by a beginner,the purple was so dark, it looked like black and plus we had requested red velvet and received yellow. For all brides, I highly recommend that you get everything in writing and definitely triple check on a delivery fee. Make sure that is told and written up front.

While Cathy's cakes tasted wonderful, we were extremely disappointed with the errors she made. The Groom's cake was supposed to be coconut cake, (his favorite and one his Mother used to bake often for his family). We did not know it was wrong until we cut the cake at our reception and discovered it was some sort of chocolate cake. Once we tasted, it turned out to be German Chocolate, a cake my husband strongly dislikes. In addition, my cake was supposed to be 4 layers and was only 3 layers with the middle layer false. His cake was 3 layers with 2 layers false. We planned for 200 guests and for what we received, a total of 3 layers for both Bride and Groom cakes, the price was $1,575.00. There was nothing fancy about the cake design. In my opinion, the cakes were not worth their price. I would not recommend Cathy Young. The mistakes were huge and the cakes expensive.
